I’ve been to the Plough quite a few times over a couple of years. It’s a nice pub, the staff are friendly and they have a cocktail menu and decent draught selection. They have screens for the sports lovers and there are guest chefs now and again mixing up their menu. I’ve never been to their basement club but they do have one! And their roast is really nice!

We had an amazing roast today. Lovely food, drinks, service and vibe.

A really welcoming and friendly pub. The staff are excellent, atmosphere fantastic, and a great choice of beers. Would definitely recommend!

Recommended us good beer. Large portions for Sunday roast but lacked in flavour and vegs were tough. Didn’t provide our table with the sauces for the meat when they did for all the other tables at the time - maybe they forgot but doubt it.

Fantastic Sunday roast. Would recommend making a booking as this place can get busy. The pork roast was better than the beef in my opinion, but the portion is slightly smaller. Can’t go wrong.

I didn't personally try the food but friends who did rated it "just above average". HOWEVER everything else was great, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, decent prices for London and a friendly bouncer for once! Had a great time here for a friends birthday, had the downstairs room to ourselves, great that there is a seperate bar also.

Nice pub - was very quiet when I visited on a Wednesday night but it was still very pleasant and had a nice jazz soundtrack on. £6 for a pint of lager.

Great atmosphere, but the mulled wine tasted like grape juice and it wasn’t hot. There were no non alcoholic drink options available. They made us a hot chocolate with hot water which was terrible.

What a gem. The food is delicious and staff are lovely. Very well priced. The arancini are amazing. Loved the rarebit, sweet potato chip and normal chips too.

Lamb Shank Roast was awesome. The mint sauce was thick and fresh. Huge portion, I could barely finish it.

Honestly….don’t listen to these other reviews. We had 3 roasts and with one requesting £22 for one vegan roast is a joke. No soap in the bathroom, hairs everywhere. I would not recommend this place to anyone, they’re lucky I cannot leave 0 stars.

Chilled and cosy atmosphere inside a wonderfully dishevelled old pub with some well selected classic tunes.

Stopped here for a quick pint, couldn't decide if had time for a half or a full and turns out they do scooners (2/3rd)! Super friendly staff, great music and good beer selection.

Since we moved nearby, The Plough has truly become our favourite pub. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. It's been a pleasure getting to know them. We've met our neighbours, made friends at the pub, and have become a real community because of it. No pretentious, just great vibes

best staff, super attentive and fantastic service, decor is top notch if you’re looking for a classic london pub vibe, very relaxed and a short walk from Homerton station - the often have rotating guest chefs running the kitchen as well so look out for that! paddy the manager is a good laugh too had such a nice time here the first time and even bought my whole family over on their trip from thailand - it’s a five star from me

Great place to stay, great food

Probably my favourite pub in East London… Food is amazing, huge selection of drinks and immaculate London pub vibes. The icing on the cake has to be the staff, the friendliest bunch of people who could not be more friendly or accommodating.

Went here with a friend in Feb one evening. They didn’t put the heating on, every single person in the pub was sat there with their coat on. It was so cold. We ordered some ‘hand cut chips’ which were clearly frozen oven fries and some cauliflower bites, also clearly a frozen food product that have been put in the oven/frier. Not impressed.

Amazing local pub, we love visiting here - such friendly vibes and so cozy on a Sunday afternoon. Nice to watch the odd football match here too. The roasts are amazing and so is the ever changing menu. Yesterday I wasn't drinking and they gave me a pint of blackcurrant soda on the house - whereas in most other London pubs they'll charge you a couple of quid - I was chuffed!

The roast … 💯👌 The Roast pork belly was cooked to perfection, tender pork that melts In your mouth. A lil side of crackling to compliment. Then what really pulls this roast into another realm is all the components to run along side the main event. The roast potatoes are crispy, soft in the middle and fresh. Veggies roasted and delightful in taste. Then there is a very well prepped gravy to pull it all together. At the end you can try one of the home made deserts. When I went last week there was a choice of two fabulous tarts. Custard and jam and chockablock and toffee. I have also tried the veggie roast a few weeks previously. This was also very good. As for the space in which you are eating in it’s filled with light streaming from the south. There is a beautiful atmosphere that’s calm. The service is solid.

I've never received such a cold, unfriendly welcome in a pub in my entire life, least of all in Hackney which is one of the most vibrant, warm places in London (and replete with great pubs, bar this one). First & foremost, we turned up at about 12:40pm and the place was shut despite advertised opening hours being from midday. Instead of bothering herself to come to the door to advise when the place would be open, a rather miserable lady simply mouthed 'not open yet' from the bar. We then had to walk aimlessly in the area to kill time until the door was finally unlocked. When we walked in, no one greeted us, even when I went up to the bar to order. The lady working didn't even bother to look at me. This was very rude and made me feel very unwelcome. When she did open her mouth she was unfriendly and, frankly, quite weird. We almost left the place but my boyfriend suggested we persevere. And what a shame that we did: the Sunday roast that materialised was just poor; the beef was as tough as old boots and a cut of exceptionally low quality. When our plates were cleared, another slightly weird staff member, this time male, asked if we had enjoyed the food, to which I responded 'not really - to be honest, the beef was very, very tough'. To my disbelief, he pulled a face and said 'oh, was it?' before walking off. We left as quickly as we possibly could and I wouldn't dream of coming back: this was actually my second attempt at Sunday lunch here (the first time they'd ran out of most of the menu) and there will not be a third, despite this pub being the closest to my home. So very disappointing.

Popped in for dinner and a few drinks, staff are super friendly and overall, the place has such a nice vibe. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Doesn't matter if it's busy or quiet, it's a brilliant pub. Great beers, excellent and interesting wines and the food is great. The team always super nice and right on. Guinness poured right every time. No agro and good vibes.

Only pub in London where you feel really cold even if there are 100 people inside. Whatever happened to the heating? You need to pay attention. I have seen at least 20 people with their coats on, this is not a good sign and should not be ignored. The kitchen deserves compliments though, your care with food preparation is clear and appreciated.

Located near to the tube with easy access for all and local shops nearby, this is lovely historic building with lots of character. Lovely staff, lovely place for a quiet drink in a relaxed atmosphere with quick service and a smile from friendly staff will definitely return soon. Thank you

New favourite roast, absolute perfection.

Lovely relaxing bar with nice decor. Excellent selection of quality beers. Friendly staff peeps too who were playing some great tunes. Would've definitely stayed for more, but was on a pub crawl 😉 I shall return 🙂🍻

Really tasty roast with lots of veggies and homemade Yorkshire puddings, and very sweet staff! They accidentally gave me a small portion and comped my meal for the inconvenience, along with bringing me some extra food, which wasn’t necessary but greatly appreciated! Lovely spot for a Sunday lunch.

I’m not a fan of a roast usually, but their roast is the best I’ve ever had. Staff are all gems. Dog friendly. Queer-friendly. Good vibes all around.

I guess I am giving them a name to put on their barred list but at least I will explain what happened to me and my friend. We went there last weekend to celebrate a friend's bday. Both Spanish and there were some people from the staff who also spoke Spanish and we thought it was great! Loved it! It was all fun and games till the system started playing up. Some of us got charged twice. We tried to explain, but the lady just wouldn't have it. She started being visibly angry, her body language was aggressive, she screamed at us. She even gave a shot to my friend and said (in Spanish, but literal translation would do): let me give you a shot, thanks to me you can drink a shot, it's the best we have. She gave my friend a shot a started clapping her hands... as if we needed them to drink a shot of tequila?!?! It was weird and passive aggressive. I felt distressed for my friend, and for the fact we were being accused of not paying despite the bank app was actually showing double payment. I went to Agustina, in the name of both of us speaking the same language, I tried to smooth things over and said: come on, you have been aggressive, no need for that. She wouldn't have it. Another guy came out and screamed at me. I yelled back saying I wanted respect. The reply they gave to my friend in her review speaks loud! Staff are aggressive. They told my friend they wanted to call the police. I think they didn't because they knew they would have only been laughed at...

Lovingly restored local with the best of all worlds: indie brews, cocktails, upmarket pub grub, football on the TV, a fireplace, and a private cellar bar and venue for comedy nights etc. Staff are all real too. Best spot.

A couple of days ago I went to The Plough and I have to say I found the experience somewhat maddening... I know barstaff everywhere are cautious due to COVID but having to pay the exact amount of cash or use a credit card for a drink is ridiculous. I can't say it creates a relaxed atmosphere. I had to go to the off licence to get exact change. As well as that it was a cold winter's evening and nobody had bothered to set a fire in the fireplace which I think is a bit Scrooge-like at this time of year...

Lovely staff and such a cosy spot for food and drinks. Had their potatoes and chocolate fondant which was to die for 😋.

This is a review of the Hot 4 U roast rather than the pub itself, which is nice enough and has a decent beer selection. The premium price roast was really disappointing - meagre portions and half cooked veg. Was really looking forward to trying but left so disappointed. Have had much better roasts for much less money.

Lovely local pub, the staff are really friendly, the selection of beers on tap is great. The Sunday roasts by hot4u are to die for and so are the oysters.

Quite horrible food. £12 for three wontons, which were obviously made from frozen. Burger came on a plate the size of a saucer, no salad or sides. The staff were nice.

Small but perfectly formed homerton pub with granny's-parlour type feel to it. Good food, the sweetbreads are defo worth a try. Alsi quite expensive bread.
