Servant Jazz Quarters in Hackney

We went there (first time ever in Dalston) to see Dan Sultan. Pleasant bar upstairs and compact music area downstairs. Very casual and friendly, eg a lovely lady offered her high stoll to my wife, who'd taken a painful tumble a few days before. It is very close to the Overground station and we just caught a Gunnersbury train back in time.

Lovely negroni - venue was quite cramped with bad view of the stage (especially for shorter folks) but great sound. Had a great time seeing my cousin, Kitty, at her EP launch party!

Great place for drinks and good music

Neat little bar and jazz venue, and easy to get to. The downstairs performance area is intimate and has great sound, but there is no seating at all, which is strange. After 2 1/2 hours of standing (a 90 minute show and 60 minutes waiting for the show to start) it gets pretty hot and tiresome, as exemplified by one young woman tonight who fainted and was injured in the fall. Would it kill ‘em to invest in some folding chairs or something?

Had an amazing night, 2 fantastic act's, Gramn and April 1st, best I heard in a very long time! Plus drinks are reasonably priced which is always a bonus! It's a great venue.

Very cosy loft, cool bar staff. Definitely a place worth spending an evening with your friends catching up. On this occasion, I had the privilege of seeing live bands such as Mica and the midnight blues. Amazing performance from their behalf, very engaging and pleasant to see.

great location just by dalston junction station to watch smaller jazz / acoustic artists. the atmosphere of this place is enhanced with their soft warm lighting, it really feels intimate and special to experience live music in this little venue. the sound was amazing too. bar staff were really nice to so was an overall pleasant experience- i would recommend to anyone wanting to experience a different smaller live music gig in london!

Just around the corner from Dalston Kingsland station this venue is very easy to get to. On the ground floor there is a lovely bar that also served cocktails that seemed very popular. There is plenty of seating. The staff are both friendly and attentive. Downstairs there is a small music room that had both good sound and lighting. The stage area is not raised but everyone can get a good view due the small size. Loos are on both floors and the one I used was clean, had soap and everything worked which makes a change.

It's a really nice spot to enjoy great music. So Live and Ferocious Talent had the Ferocious Live Sessions, and it was beautiful. Talia Roux, Elena Flury, and Brave James performed.

Great music, lovely staff, good range of drinks on offer. Go.

Loved the vibes and DJ. Great music. Without forgetting the amazing cocktails. Espresso martinis were fantastic. Good service and friendly staff too!

They host a chess club on Thursdays and it was great, nice music and atmosphere

This is one the best places for jazz in dalston. Cool vibes in a basement. I was lucky to see malphino. The sound is amazing. Drinks are great. Go early for a nice view and enjoy the show !

Sehr feines, kleines Jazz-Lokal im unteren Bereich, im Erdgeschoss eine feine Bar mir diversen Cocktails, bretonischem Cider und diversen Biersorten! Absolut Top-Angestellte, vom Chef abwärts bis zum Soundmann an den Pults sehr sehr zuvorkommend!! Sehr empfehlenswert!!

Amazing Venue! Great bar and intimate space for artists to perform. Was second to none to see Ed Geater and John Dhali peform here. Would recommend again and again for any punter or performer

The perfect sized venue for an intimate gig, or a private party. Programming is brave and diverse, and I've seen gigs here that I wouldn't have even been able to get tickets for at bigger venues. Staff do a great job of looking after the multi level venue, and drinks are always fresh and well made.

Lovely small music venue in Dalston, mainly serving craft beer and ales. Downstairs they have a small live music set up which is really cute. The band I went to go watch was True Think a newly put together Jazz band and they were off the hook the sound system was very good too.

Been here twice now and it's always a good time. Atmosphere is relaxed, the music eclectic and the bar staff keep it moving

Intimate atmosphere..great place for new music

This is a fairly cosy jazz club that hosts some pretty eclectic bands in the basement area. The decor hints at the art deco style, and seems to suit the venue. The staff are polite, friendly and efficient, serving a lovely selection of cocktails, and some decent beers on tap in the upstairs bar area. Downstairs, surprisingly for such a small venue, the acoustics are pretty good.

Did'nt enjoy it that much. It was quite intimate.

Cute little 2 floor venue with a really good beer fridge, expect Kernel and top tier German lagers. The sound system downstairs is really decent and these guys hold some really great events

Incredible music on the lower ground floor, the barmab is pretty slow and the place is on some parts of a trashy taste, but the music and sound is great!

Tried to go to Tropical Yard at this venue. I 've been there a few times before without any problems, this time my cash wasn't accepted at the bar, I've never experienced this before anywhere. The staff was unfriendly and told me my money would not buy me a drink here , I need a card. I went home in disgust ,as I didn't bring any bank card . I will NEVER go to Servant Jazz Quarters again! Shame on you!

I attended and event held at this venue after traveling quite a distance {as I have done previously}.I arrived and ordered a drink at the bar and was told that cash was not accepted as the bar had 'no float'.Neither me or my partner were carrying a bank card and were not prepared to go through the night as sober cash holding citizens,so we left again.Shame that the venue is unable to advertise that cash isn't welcome and employs rude bar staff.I would not visit again!

Music room is downstairs but no bar down there. Very small and cramped. Few seats available and when seated, view of stage blocked by standing members of public. In view of my advanced years, unlikely to visit again. Google maps gave misleading directions.

Great basement venue for live music - usually towards the more Jazz end of the spectrum- but no always. Mind your head if your over 6”6’

A cool place with great vibes, certainly worth the trip to Dalston to enjoy a great atmosphere of great Jazz and a cold beer.

Awesome little speakeasy type affair. Really depends on the gig you go to see i spose but the bar itself is really cute. Not really equipped to do the cocktails during busy periods however. But overall this place is pretty darn swell.

Well...if you see a great gig here it is five stars. Luckily enough I did. John Joseph Brill was...Well...BRILL! It's cosy. It's Dalston. You know what to expect. Throwback speakeasy type affair. I fecking loved it.

Great venue (bar upstairs, more lively downstairs), some of the bar staff seemed a bit idle despite customers. Music downstairs was great apart from the amusing mixing mishap one of the two times I've been thus far. Crowd is friendly and the atmosphere is always a relaxed but lively one

Nice intimate venue just a shame the management seems to like to employ unfriendly thugs as bouncers. My wife and I were visiting for the first time to see a friend who was performing. We had bought tickets in advance but were told at the door by Nathan that the place was at capacity even though we could see through and there was no-one sitting in the bar. We showed the unfriendly Nathan that we had tickets but he still didn't seem to give a toss. It was only after a call to the band manager that we were able to get in. The bar staff were nice but unfortunately the manager wasn't around to speak and hear about our bad experience at the door. I emailed him the day after but still haven't heard from him - it would appear he and Nathan couldn't care less. So I thought I might as well post this to let others know what they are in store for - amateur door staff with no interest in the bar's paying customers having a good time. A nice venue let down by poor management I guess it will go under within not too long if things don't change. :(

I was there with my friend during my trip to Ldn, the interior of the lodge fit in to the neighborhood, bartenders give a great climate, live music is another asset, what more? Just recommend!

Lovely bouncer, music and atmosphere but awful cocktail making. A lot of ice, poor presentation and no taste. A shame really. I wish I could post a photo here so all could see what their Aperol Spritz looks like. Educate your bar staff and don't be stingy!

Excellent music. Friendly staff. In particular, an act to see is Deep Space Disco with DJ duo Joe Disco and Simeon's Mobile Disco for some amazing cosmic house, disco, and techno vibes and a fantastic party atmosphere. We really enjoyed it.
