A pub how a tourist likes to see: good food, friendly folk and a nice classic atmosphere.

It was excellent 5 stars all round

Have to give it 1 star as it said on the website open 12 till 2 walked for 40 minutes and found it's closed down as the guy running it is unwell.

We only had a drink as we had not pre-booked. Seemed an OK place

Lovely old country pub. Mel and his wife and the team make you feel great. Nothing is to much trouble. You need to book for Sunday lunch.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

we just had a lovely lunch with best ever home made chips, brilliant service very friendly, and a proper traditional pub, really worth a visit.

The very best Fish and Chips, in Nottinghamshire, without question. Additionally, there is a very varied Menu. The host Mel and his wife have an excellent establishment, with a happy and healthy atmosphere. There was a raging fire excellent at this time of the year. The Beer also went down very well. I recommend a visit to this rural pub and the Food Prices are sensible. Give it a try you will not be disappointed ☺️.

Very obliging landlord who let us have just a snack at lunchtime. So used to people saying no food available.

A traditional village pub with a friendly welcome and great food. We ordered the sirloin steak and it was to die for, sirloin can sometimes be a bit chewy but this was tender, lean and perfectly cooked just the way we asked for it, with proper homemade “scrappy” chips. On a Tuesday lunchtime there was a steady flow of customers, many of whom were locals “in the know”. Hardly surprising! We’ll definitely be back!

As always excellent food, both Linda and Mel are very welcoming and go the extra mile.

Had 2 evening meals at the plough - family of 4. Warm welcome, table reserved first night; 2nd evening, consecutive, table available despite not booking. Orders taken quickly. Wide main choices on the menu. Food excellent. Desserts also excellent. Very competitive prices. Management quite willing to accommodate individual requests to modify individual items. Friendly & efficient atmosphere. Recommend 5 star, easily.

Visited the Plough last night, had a warm welcome, great landlord who made sure his customers enjoyed their visit. The four of us had a meal, fillet steak, lasagne (x2) & steak & ale pie. These came with a huge dish of the best chips we had ever eaten, dish of mixed veg with the pie, salad bowls with the lasagne and onion rings & mushrooms with the steak. The quality of the food was excellent and it was cooked to perfection. The pie & lasagne was homemade & the steak came from a local butcher. The waitress was delightful & warmly efficient. If we lived in the area we would be regular visitors here. Wish there were more pubs like this.

Lovely country pub with good home cooked food.

A very good country pub serving an excellent choice of food. With a great atmosphere and used well by locals. We are staying in the Cromwell Caravan site and walked there and back forty minutes each way, very pleasant.

Been visiting this pub for about 12 years. Mel and Linda are brilliant hosts and Linda's food is excellent. Hubby has gluten allergy and this has never been a problem - he even gets gluten free Yorkshire puds with his Sunday lunch!!

We really enjoyed 2 lovely meals at The Plough while on holiday this weekend. The roast dinner for Sunday lunch and the pies were delicious and great portions. The landlord and locals were really friendly and welcoming. Check the opening times in advance as I think they only open during the day on Sundays and book for food, would definitely come back and recommend 10/10

Beer was stale, tables tacky, considering Milestone Brewery are in the next village you'd think the landlord could keep a decent pint of their beer. Other offering was Timothy Taylor which we didn't try.
