The Plough in Charnwood

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch. Service was good. Food was fantastic. The Yorkshire puddings weren’t those dry rubbish you get most pubs. Loads of vegetables and great gravy.

I've had Sunday lunch there twice. About £16 for the main course. It is a modern building with no ambiance whatsoever. Young friendly staff provide good service. I think the veg is tinned which loses flavour and texture. Better if it was sourced as frozen.

Went a few weeks ago with friends two of us had fish and chips, we were both violently ill later, we both had different sides and drinks. My friend rang the pub just to let them know the manager was very apologetic. The owner rang later and was quite abusive, saying it wasn't their food at all. Read into this what you will, we definitely will not be going again, we would have done but for the owners belligerent attitude

Great place to eat proper pub grub

The Plough in East Goscote is under new management and started doing food again. We live in the village but haven’t been here for 6 years but thought we would give it a try! We were blown away by the quality of the food and portion sizes, both the mains and desserts knocked spots off most of the restaurant chains. We will be ‘eating local’ more often. Burgers and dirty fries combo recommended!

Went for Sunday lunch on the first day they served them. Great food, lovely and hot and great service. Even better on my doorstep so could have a drink and walk home.

Went for a meal before Christmas, excellent service and food quality, which is good as we live on East Goscote and use to use the Malt Shovel where the new publican came from. Shall be using it a lot, especially when they start Sunday dinner

Went New Years Eve. Wasnt expecting much with it just handing over to new management. All i can say is 'Well Done'. Not settled in well enough to provide hot meals, but what an amazing buffet laid on for all. Spotlessly clean, pleasant staff, couldnt have done any better. Everybody seemingly had a hassle free night & i look forward to this becoming my local again.

Did a gig there. Friendly staff. A little cramped for full band but we managed as we are a three piece band. Did not sample the food unless you count a cheese and onion cob which was very nice.

We went to a wake there, food was excellent, staff were very friendly and gave great service

Met up with my sons for a swift pint, ideal place to meet the lads on a Saturday lunchtime.

Big place, own space if you want, plenty of space for parties. Sports TV if you want it. Good beer, great ,friendly barstaff. Entertainment very good, think called Quad Rock. Kitchens reopen soon. Well worth a visit.

Friendly atmosphere, pool table, darts, fruit machine, live bands, great staff, carvery, nice food, and a good selection of drinks. Dog friendly.

Nice local pub that is family friendly. Sometimes about understaffed though.

Quite on a Monday lunch time great food at a good price

Great band on at the Plough having a lovely evening as my husband is not very mobile at the mo I went to the bar and stood and waited as at least 2 girls just ignored me clearing glasses away didn't even look at me I thought I was invisible! A man who I don't think was even working that night must have felt sorry for me he came and served me ! Shocking service I wont be going there again anytime soon !

We called in here to celebrate a family birthday, the food was excellent, plenty of variety and ample portions, an excellent range of beers and a well stocked bar, add in the friendly staff and it had all the makings of a great meal out, we were informed later that a couple with us had some misgivings after having a meal there in the past, but new owners and staff have turned it around, we will be back,

Had a lovely meal here today 5 adults and a child and toddler.. There were some picky eaters among us but were happy to change a few things for us staff were really nice will definitely be going back..

It's got hardly any customers just a few work men after work . No menu at the moment either and it's cild and no atmosphere

Lacked any real form of service it had taken 15 minutes just to get a drink the food was bellow average and when I tryed to return the food for not being nice atall the chef said you either eat it or you don't would Deffo not visit this place again

Had fish and chips here and hour ago tasted awfull overcooked frozen cheap fish, hard batter,left horrible taste in mouth never again YUK

I'm not going to lie to you. My relatives live in East Goscote and its really the only time I've ever been in the place. Twenty years ago to be honest whilst the beer was ok then it was a bit of a dump. That said I've been in today to celebrate the life of one of those relatives. I was very impressed with the decor. The pub looks lovely. Lots of food and drink deals. And the beer prices were normal. £3.20 to £3.60ish. obviously is suspect other drink were more costly but I hope you catch my drift. Today was certainly the best I've ever seen it. And yes I will return and try the food next time. I'll let you know how I get on. But the estate finally has a pub again that's visit worthy. Go and try it.

Pub looks & feels better than it's done in years....Well overdue!! The food's great & the service is too. The bar staff are really nice & friendly....On the negative side the outside of the pub needs clearing up somewhat as there's weeds growing from between most of the uneven slabs on the front & have overgrown in the borders underneath the trees that so desperately need cutting back, the Landlord seems really unfriendly to the point of being grumpy...Find another job if you hate this one so much mate!! Don't let the negatives put you off though, it's a good pub that needs the community to get behind it....USE IT OR LOSE IT!!!

Vastly improved. The lunch menu is really good value with big portions of tasty food. Still a little lacking in atmosphere due to it being such a big space to fill ....we really need the village residents to support this pub. It is great to see it up and running. I have only dropped a star because it was so quiet and would have benefited from more customers, so come on everyone and give it a whirl.
