Having booked accommodation direct with them I requested an evening meal and breakfast as it would save going out to find somewhere after a very long days work. On arrival at 1900hrs, which was the time I had agreed, I was informed that the chef had gone off for the evening and that there maybe a very limited menu. I ended up with ham, egg and overly salted chips which were inedible and that was it. No choice of desert as the manager had gone out to walk her dog and the only person left was the bar person. The room was clean but I was surprised that there were no toiletries for the shower, the room door did not fit properly and that you could look between the door frame and the door. Also the sound proofing between the rooms was not far off non existent as was proved by my neighbours turning on their television late in the evening. Thankfully, I had put in a 19 hour day and was too tired to care. Breakfast was greeted by the chef wearing a Puffa jacket, most probably the same one he had on to come to work, and I ordered Full English with orange juice and coffee. The orange juice still hasn’t arrived and it is now two days since I left there. The bake beans had clearly been reheated but on the plus side the sausages and bacon were excellent. It’s was a good job that I was in a hurry as my nights accommodation was quoted at £65-00 plus extras ( evening meal, breakfast and 1 Pint of beer), however on rechecking the receipts it has been charged at £75-00. On the plus side the manager was very pleasant and Benny the dog very friendly. Would I stay again? Definitely Not…

Friday evening visit and we arrived at this cosy country pub where the "buzz" developed through the evening as tables filled up and folk visited the pub bar. We found the service very attentive and able to accommodate our gluten free guest, although rather too many dishes served with cheese for our dairy-free friend. It was nice to have some specials on the board which added nicely to the original menu. The starters and mains were all enjoyed and those selecting the "Lamb Henry" found it well-cooked and tasty with creamy mash and fresh greens. Guest opting for the lamb curry special also found it tasty and the restaurant offered to adjust it to suit different "heat" requirements. The beef chilli was delicious, the pork main perhaps a tad over-cooked, the poppadoms slightly greasy, but overall we all enjoyed our main meals and the lovely red wine served with them. Our one guest opting for a dessert did find that The Apple & Blackberry Crumble had a slight lack of apple and crumble topping! Amaretto coffee and hot chocolate drinks to finish were yummy. Overall, we would all be happy to recommend this a a destination for good value, tasty pub food with attentive service and a nice country pub "buzz".

10 of us were staying nearby in an Air bnb and headed into Upper Boddington and came across The Plough. The owner was so welcoming and we took a look at the menu and decided to stay for lunch. We had 4 dogs with us and a baby and they were so accommodating, finding a perfect spot in the bar side of the building that was secluded and out of the way. We ordered lots of the bar bites and a couple of people had various burgers. For pub food it was excellent - really beautifully cooked and great quality ingredients thoughtfully put together. The desserts were equally good and we decided to book in for the Sunday roast the next day before we left. The roast was amazing - again beautifully cooked and really flavoursome. They bought out extra potatoes and vegetables so we all had plenty, it was delicious and beautifully presented. Again the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble even with some intolerances and fussy eaters. On our third day, we went out for a walk in Daventry and then talked about what to do for lunch, we were going to find a pub locally to where we were but decided that actually when we knew the food and service would be excellent we would head back to the Plough. Once again we were really happy with our decision. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this pub. My brother (who absolutely loves a roast) said it was so good he would drive the two hours from where we live on a Sunday for it - I don’t think you can get a much higher compliment. My only comment would be that on first look, the menu doesn’t do the food justice. It doesn’t sell the quality of their food - it looks like standard pub grub when it’s truly a cut above. A quick redesign of the menu, a nicer font and better descriptions of the gorgeous food would really sell it. My husband and I quite often will decide on whether we want to eat in a place by wandering in and looking at the menu and if we’d been on our own, might have passed this place by which would have been a huge shame! Everything else was absolutely perfect though :) thank you for having us!

It has been recently refurbished and looks very cosy and inviting. There are two large wood burning stoves which should make it very cosy in winter. The food was excellent. My fish was delicious and so were the triple cooked chips. There were tables under an awning in front. Helpful friendly staff. We will definitely go back.Parking at the rear.

Seven of us sat down to Sunday lunch and all commented on the quality of the food. Four grandchildren had Belly Pork and raved about it. One of us went for Veggie Wellington and pronounced it the best ever. I got many brownie points for the choice of the pub, and best of all, I could hardly believe my eyes when the bill came. I had to put my glasses on, it was so small. Quality and Value is what it's all about, long may that continue. My advice? BOOK to avoid disappointment, a fair few casuals were unlucky today

We often meet up with friends in this area of the country for a Sunday Roast meal. This pub is in a superb location and has a nice friendly atmosphere inside. The staff are very good and the restaurant part is nicely located. However the drinks are a bit on the expensive side, which is not a problem as we are not drinkers and the "quantity" of the Sunday Roast meals leave a bit to be desired. We are not big eaters but a piece more meat and a few more roast potatoes would not have gone a miss and at such little cost. The actual quality of the food is very good, just a bit on the small side compared to other Sunday Roast lunches in the area at the same price. Can't say "dissapointed" but a bit to be desired.

At last a pub, a real pub, real people, with real food, great food in fact. Early Christmas lunch for two of us today. What a treat, excellent food and sensible price. We were not disappointed, the welcome was warm, the service exemplary, we really felt at home, and the food is superb. We had the prawns from the special boards, followed with one venison shank, also from the specials, and I had chicken supreme with a delicious mushroom risotto. We managed an apple and cinnamon cake between us, goodness knows how as the portions are generous. If you're in the area do not miss the Plough, you won't regret it. Friday night with husband for his birthday. LOVELY meal. Bar was teaming with people but the restaurant area was away from the hustle of the bar and was warm and cozy with the log burner on and quiet music. My wife played it safe with the beef, which was tender and cooked to her liking, but I was tempted by the roast pheasant which was the special of the day. Both roasts came with a selection of vegetables, including red cabbage which is a favourite of mine, and perfect Yorkies! With a little room left for desert I went for the apple and pear crumble and my wife went for the fruit bread and butter pudding; she commented that hers was the best she had ever had...praise indeed.Friendly staff, a warm welcome, and good food make this traditional country pub a real winner; we'll be back!

The restaurant was very homely with a pub style fire, menus arrived prompt and order taken- was shocked to see a proper pub grub menu- we had starters as it was my granddaughters birthday she had the black pudding starter which she said was great, I had the scallops which were especially good and everyone else said it was great. The mains came shortly after with a very smiley waitress. I had the pork belly which was smoothed in a nice Apple type sauce. Everyone had great time and my granddaughter had a great evening so hats off to the plough. Things are happening here!

Although this pub is only a couple of miles from where I live it is years since I set foot inside it, but when my daughter suggested it for Sunday lunch I thought, why not? (especially as she was paying). The pub is very oldie worldie, the bar has a very low ceiling with lots of beams, so mind your head. We were made to feel welcome. The bar was a bit crowded but we didn't mind standing for a few minutes before going into the dining room. The bar is very dog friendly do long as you have a friendly dog.It isn't a large dining room, no more than a half dozen tables, but they are well spaced out so you don't feel crowded. The service was prompt and we placed our orders quite quickly.I was the only one of our party of three who had a starter and it was very tasty, black pudding 'bombs' with a duck egg. I was a bit surprised that the duck egg was hard boiled and cold rather than soft poached and hot, but that wasn't a major issue and I enjoyed the dish. The main course was excellent. A very obviously home made chicken, ham and leak pie (short crust pastry not puff and cut in a triangle straight from a circular pie dish), served with fresh seasonal vegetables. There was a choice of potatoes so I chose chips. My wife and daughters told me that they were very satisfied with their pulled hamburgers (no, I'd never heard of that before either). We all enjoyed our meals and will certainly go back there.I can't comment on price as my daughter paid, but she didn't seem shocked by the bill.

We liked the ambience of the pub - roaring fire and lovely Christmas decorations. The waitress was quite young and, unfortunately, forgot to tell us that the two dishes we had chosen were off the menu. Bit disappointing. My husband had garlic mushrooms as a starter and I had a special mushroom starter which was superb! Disappointed with frozen chips with main meal, although they were nice and crispy. Would have preferred home made!

I am really sorry to say I was really disappointed , my food was only just warm and as the pub was not busy at the time there was no excuse. The menu was good , but the overall experience was not a good one.

I booked to stay over for one night in early November for myself and my two children. This found on an on line site. We could have stayed at the Days Inn locally for £27 less but breakfast would have been extra and although it would still have been cheaper we thought a village Inn would feel nicer. After booking we got an email stating that breakfast would be self serve/make tea, toast and cereals. Given this info the booking started to look quite expensive. When we arrived we found the place to be nice and traditional. The staff very friendly and the room was ok too. Not plush but functional and lacking touches like shampoos and shower gel. One window has no curtain which could be a summertime daylight issue. The biggest disappointment was breakfast. We were alone in the building, the room was dark and no apparent light switches. We had to hunt around to find milk in the catering fridge, no juice and limited offerings. We ate toast. Overall this place is ok/fine and very friendly, but I would question the value and especially on a Sunday evening. Food isn't served after four on a Sunday and they have an excellent quiz night with a first class quiz master.

We stayed here for a night in room 4 which is fabulously decorated with peacocks and is a family room (double and 2 singles). The beds are very comfortable. This room is en-suite and the shower is lovely and warm. The only thing that lets the room down is a small uncurtained window facing the road. However this did not disturb us too much. We also had dinner which was delicious. We only had main and dessert due to the great portion sizes. A lovely selection of meals and would love to visit again.Breakfast was hearty with as much tea, cereal and toast as you want in addition to the full English. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Made a reservation to stay at the plough as I was competing with my horse in nearby Aston Le Walls. Hidden gem, friendly, lovely comfortable rooms and great food. Little bit of noise from the bar but that was expected as it was noted on booking.com but as soon as pub closed rooms were quiet. Compliments to their chef we had a lovely evening meal and breakfast. Will stay or visit again if we are back in the area

This was my second visit to The Plough and the experience was even better than the first. I really cannot fins fault. There was a superb choice on the menu and specials - I was really spoilt for choice. All the food was delicious with just the right size portions. Service was most attentive and efficient. The local guest beer, "Tabby" went down a treat too!To summarise, it was excellent value and an all round a great experience. I will be re-visiting when next in the area.

"Thank You All" What a great stay, lovely comfortable rooms, soft towels, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and bottled water in the rooms and a lovely comfortable bed. The place was spotless and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious, my first course, a slice of toast (choice of breads) and juice, help yourself, cereals etc. at 07:30 with some friends who had an early departure, then the delicious full english made with good, fresh, local ingredients at a more civilised hour with our remaining friends. Thanks to the Chef!Everyone at the Plough go out of their way to help and are friendly, Wil and Jen lead by example and what a great example!Don't take my word for it, try for yourself.

Great little country pub with a traditional rural interior well liked by it's regulars. Nice range of real ales, all in good condition. Friendly, smiling staff. Car par a little pot-holed but OK. Additional dining tables in a newish extension to one side. Great menu with fresh local ingredients and a lovely selection of puddings. Despite our best efforts we went for the full three courses. Starter was a home made duck and orange pate that was nice and intense. I enjoyed a piri-piri chicken breast that was both moist and spicy. Served with pre-packaged chips though. Fantastic bread and butter pudding, enriched with molten Mars bar and served with delicious custard. Coffee is made in one of those contraptions that looks like Doctor Who's robotic dog, K9. Recommended.

Just got back from Sunday lunch here with our 17 month old son, this was our first visit. Had 3 courses including the roast dinner, all was pretty good. Nothing special but it was reasonably priced above average pub grub and good sized portions. We were warmly welcomed and the service was very good.

From the warm welcome from the landlady to the excellent food served this was well worth the visit. We went with 6 friends, they had an event on for Air Ambulance and the pub was packed and fortunately we had booked our table. Even though they were rushed off their feet the food was served quickly and was of an excellent standard and good prices. Landlady to staff were super and friendly. Would highly recommend a visit. Some of these pub chains could do with a visit to see how its done here properly.

Well hwhat took so long? this has always been a village needing a good local pub with good grub. Recently renovated this is now a very good eating and drinking establishment. We have eaten there three times in the last week with excellent food and service. Staff are friendly and as a relative local it is just wonderful to go in and meet friends from Byfield or Boddington. Being owned and run by illagers is a benefit as it encourages local support. The perfect place to sit and enjoy abeer or two a the end of a working day or week. But then with my name perhaps I am a little biased.Great pub, great experience every time well done.Tim Boddington

We were recommended by friends for lunch. It is a smart classic quality village pub that is food led. We were warmly greeted by Annie who has been working there for some eight years. When I said we had come for lunch she immediately used my name. She was extremely attentive and although there was just the two of us she offered us a larger table to give us more space. She chatted to us for a short while showing interest in where we lived etc. We had a cheese dipping starter to share and then sausage and mash for my wife and I had the belly pork. All meals were well presented and very tasty. We will have no hesitation in going back. It is worth noting that the Inn also has five bedrooms for longer stays in the area and a number of ladies booked in whilst we were there.

Very popular on a Sunday & I can see why - the food is great! Mainly roasts purchased in our party, and belly pork. Sadly very little to lure the vegetarians, so I won't be dashing back, but most of my group were extremely impressed!
