The Plaice To Eat in Redcar and Cleveland

The food was okay but we received terrible customer service. They think it is okay to talk behind your back when they think you can’t hear them when you can. They give dirty looks and don’t show any enjoyment and just make the whole shop feel really awkward and it has a terrible atmosphere. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but have some respect for your customers and don’t talk about them behind their back when they can clearly hear you. It’s incredibly rude and can make people feel really uncomfortable.

this is a fish & chip shop that also does parmos great value huge portions of quality food and the parmos are fresh lots of chicken home made garlic sauce fresh salad everthing was delicious

had takeaway delivery was gorgeous huge portion lovely fresh chicken home made chips and home made garlic sauce were all very good and great value for money will deffo be back x

Really friendly staff , chicken parmo was excellent , lovely garlic sauce and the chips were nice too. Salad was fresh , can't complain really nice meal.

We go there regular because my view is they serve the best cod in redcar. Lilly white cod and delicious home made batter cooked to order.

My fave chip shop , I adore the garlic sauce and my boys love the paramos ... highly recommend from me staff always helpful and friendly , kids meals available

What a fantastic little chippy. This shop goes above and beyond supplying customers with excellent quality food. They give fantastic service and always with a smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Thanks for supplying our local area with GREAT quality food from fabulous fish and chips to perfectly Perfect Parmos.

Love the food here the garlic sauce is lovely, the staff are friendly. They even do a local delivery service and according to my 10year old the best Parmo ever 😊

really lovely fish & chips, the portion size is excellent more than enough always cooked fresh, and they do home deliveries how good is that, a must try for all Redcar people .

I was served by a friendly lady. The Plaice To Eat appears very clean and looked after. The portions of food were very good , unfortunately very disappointing. The chips were substantial looking and not scratty bits, but they were inedible. They were dried out, so much that I was unable to swallow them, and they were tasteless. The fish (cod) was very well battered and well cooked with no soggy uncooked batter inside. The flesh was white and meaty looking, but again tasteless, I gave the flesh to my cats...they turned away from it, I put it outside for the resident stray cat, again he turned away from it. £4:95 I'm sorry to give such a negative review.

Fancied fish and chips this dinnertime and wondered who to try after visting many chip shops in Redcar area decided to try here. Really glad i tried The Plaice to Eat, the fish was lovely and white and a chunky meaty taste in a crisp batter, unlike some fish that looks grey and thin. Will be trying this chip shop again in the future

People rave about fish and chips in Whitby. They are missing a true gem here. It's often that fish and chip shops on a council estate provide quality and by God, Gaz the proprieter makes sure he knows how to make his customers come back for more and more. He buys better quality potatoes than most chip shops, and you can certainly taste the difference. And he doesn't buy in batter, he makes it himself. Just try it. There's no comparison.
