The Pizzaioli Ayr in South Ayrshire

We ate in the Pizzaioli Restaurant for the first time last night and will definitely be back. The food was delicious, very authentic Italian and good quality. The staff were very friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was inviting with a relaxed vibe, lovely lighting, soft back ground music and comfortable. Would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant which is owned by a local Italian family. We’re also keen to try their Pizzaioli take away further down the Sandgate sometime.

We had lunch here today with friends and all of us absolutely loved our meals. Our pizzas and lasagne were delicious! Staff are very friendly and there is such a relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant. 5☆ from us!

We were visiting Ayr and thought about having lunch there, we were passing Pizzaioli and had a look at the outside menu and as we were, a passer by said "The food is great". She was right!. We went in and were warmly greeted and shown to a nice corner table by the window. Two menus (An A La Carte and a fixed price lunch) were presented. The decor is nice without being flashy with nice touches of whiteboards with little comments "Italian rules - no pineapple on pizzas and do not cut spaghetti!!!" We both ordered pizzas - but no ordinary pizza an eclectic mix of toppings both vegetarian and carniverous! All have sourdough bases but not all have the ubiquitous tomato topping base layer some have a Bechamel one instead! I had the Uaglio with Anchovies cheese olives baby tomatoes etc. and my wife the Danielina with Mushrooms and Prosciutto, Rocket, cheese etc. both came quickly but obviously fresh from the oven and were delicious. There was a good choice of Italian wines and beers Peroni Red, Moretti etc and the usual suspects in the soft drink dept. Service came with a smile and helpful menu tips. My wife had a Gelato dessert with cherries and chocolate I tasted a wee bit yummy! and I had a lovely tasty coffee. If we are in Ayr again I guarantee we will be back to try some of the other tasty dishes on the menu, perhaps one of the blackboard specials. Just a point to note the toilets are clean and well looked after but you will get your step count up if you go as they are in the basement along quite a long corridor!!!

He was crazy - bull like in Rome. All the staff are original Italians - it's one to one. There are no competitors. The owner is super friendly!

Food was great as usual. But unfortunately the experience was let down by a few simple mistakes. Firstly the restaurant was freezing cold. I had to sit with my jacket on for the entire meal. I also noticed that the vast majority of other customers were also sitting with there jackets on. In fact the person on the table next to us had there hood up & scarf on. This was because the ceiling mounted aircon units were blowing cold air down on everyone. The outside weather at the time was 15 degrees & raining. So aircon was not needed. I did ask the staff if they could turn this off. They did turn it off but only briefly as about 30 mins later i felt it come back on. This is when we left. We were planning on having an after dinner coffee but my wife & I were freezing by this point. Also, we ordered the sharing anti-pasti platter to share for our starter followed by a pizza for myself & a pasta dish for my wife. Our main courses arrived at the same time as our starter. So we never got to enjoy our starter separately. It became more of a side dish to our mains. The waitress did say that the mains might come out a fraction earlier as they are cooked fresh. But surely at the same time as the starter is poor. During our entire meal. Including desserts we were never asked once if we would have liked another drink. Even though both our glasses were empty. We were both planning a nice Irish coffee to finish with. But never got the opportunity. All in all. The food is good. But the restaurant was freezing cold & staff attentiveness was poor.

Fantastic place. Pizza and tiramisu were fantastic! All the staff were lovely and were very patient with our crazy and loud toddler!

I won't buy pizza from anywhere else, everything is fresh, real ingredients. Top class

The food and the service were both excelent We visited for lunch midweek, my wife's lasagne was both tasty and light: my pizza was delicious and large enough for me to need a "doggy bag" it was clearly freshly made on the spot I would unhesitateingly recommend this place

Had 1 pizza for lunch today and it was so good, I had another one for my dinner. This is honestly the best pizza I have had outside of Italy, and even then, this pizza is up there with the best pizza's I've ever had. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and just perfect all round. Considering I'm so close, I know I'm going to be getting pizza here a lot!!!

Supplies and croquettes like in Rome, afternoon visit, next time we'll try the pizza. Don't miss this place. Once you try the taste, you'll never forget.

Called into Ayr on Monday. I was starving and couldn't find a decent food outlet when I came across Pizzaioli. Met by two welcoming fellows who talked me thru the menu. I chose a Parmagiana pizza and another with salami and a sweet drizzle. Both were top notch thin crust and piping hot. The Parmagiana must've been good because the wife smashed the lot. Highly recommended.

Received a £50 voucher for Christmas which was bought for my wife and I. The voucher was purchased in November and we realised that the time would have lapsed by a couple of weeks. My wife went into the restaurant in person to explain the situation and was advised that this would not be honoured. Massively disappointing as we have visited before and used the take away service on multiple occasions. Will be going elsewhere in future.

Absolutely delicious food. I don't normally bother to write a review but there food was really special, great value and the staff were lovely.

I was in Ayr working. I googled something nice to eat and this gem came up. I ordered the Er Cileno, Diavolo Marinated chicken, Roasted red peppers and spicy Borlotti beans. The pizza flavour was there, very authentic Italian made but the pizza itself was burnt. I was so hungry I just ate it without complaining. I would eat here again but I wasn’t keen on the over cooked pizza base. Price was high still to say you can get a dominos or Pizza Hut for near enough the same price.

Meal for six, lunch for three adults and three nearly teens children with matching appetites . Heavenly food, relaxed atmosphere, excellent service. For the six of us, cost was similar to certain chain places, but the comparison ends there. The food and experience at The Piazzioli is uniquely yummy tasty and memorable. They all went pizza and were very happy. I went pasta... I want to say Cesare Ave. ... heavenly awesome pasta.

Have ordered from the takeaway for ages and never been disappointed and they now have a restaurant! Food is of the same high quality-suppli, pizzas and pasta were all delicious but the tiramisu was out of this world! Great cocktails,short but sweet wine list and the most charming, friendly service-what an exceptional addition to Ayr’s dining scene.

Quickly seated, menu produced by staff. Ordered drinks, Morreti and great red wine, excellent. The starters, arrived quickly, different but really tasty. Pizza is massive, noticed other couples, decided to have one to share, very scrumptious, only negative, did not need the rocket over the top. Good value, heartily warm, pleasant atmosphere,Value, though country and western music did not remind me of Italy. Will return for a taste of Roma again.

Great restaurant in the heart of Ayr, the menu offers authentic and delicious pizza and pasta and the service was very good too. The restaurant itself is charming- set within a historic building on a cobbled street.

We went last night for our valentines meal. Nice relaxed atmosphere. The food is outstanding. This is by far the best pizza I have experienced in the uk. Maybe include Italy. It’s just lovely authentic Italian food. You can’t go wrong. A must visit if you live in Ayr or are just visiting. Can’t wait to go back!

Food really good, we weren't sure if there was anything on the menu that the kids would like, but the Ape 50 was a big hit. Both the pasta dishes we chose were excellent too. Atmosphere was good, service was excellent.

Beautiful authentic Italian pizza and sides/starters. Can taste the quality of ingredients and will definitely be back. So good to see another restaurant of such quality opening within Ayr, exactly what the town was missing! Beautiful decor and a nice cosy feel to the place. Staff friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10!

An absolute joke. We ordered a pizza. I complained because my pizza was soaking wet. They blamed me because I ordered “too much cheese” they then sent me another one with a separate cheese ball! The pizza is the same, that’s money I won’t get back. I will never be back

If you want authentic Italian pizzas then this is the place to go. There is a fantastic selection of different pizza toppings and also pasta dishes to suit everyone. They also sell focaccia with tasty fillings and wonderful desserts such as tiramisu and cannoli. The owners and staff are super friendly and welcoming. Always greeted with a smile and a chat. In addition to this amazing takeaway they have now opened a beautiful Italian restaurant close by. The same wonderful food. Great wine and lovely coffees at very fair prices. The owners have created a wonderful and atmospheric space. Highly recommended.

Ordered pizza, more than 2 ingredients were missing from the pizza, workers were friendly, food was really nice .The man dealing with toppings picked up raw meat and then proceeded to put fresh basil on cooked pizza without washing hands.

Es ist leider nur zum Mitnehmen oder vorbestellen. Daher spielt das Ambiente nicht wirklich eine Rolle. Wir haben die Pizza direkt bestellt und mitgenommen. Zum Service, 25min gesagt, 25min gehalten. Sehr freundlich, einfach top. Weiter so. Nun das Wichtigste: Pizza. Haben 2 vegetarische Pizzen probiert, was soll ich sagen: die vielleicht beste Pizza Schottlands? Einfach mega. Und als Abschluss der Preis: 12£/Pizza, das ist für den Geschmack auf jeden Fall gerechtfertigt. Schade, dass es die Pizzaria nicht zuhause gibt.

Ordered by chance using the Ayr Eats app. It was absolutely delicious. The order came within thirty minutes, and delivered by a very friendly courteous staff member. I’ve visited Rome, Turin and Assisi, I can honestly tell you that the food was not nearly as good, it was every bit as good as anything I have eaten in Italy. I am intrigued, my next order will be in person, I think I’ll need to try one of the desserts next time also !!! Thank you for providing such beautiful food. John.

We decided that we fancied a takeaway pizza to eat in at our AirBnb. Not only was Pizzaioli the closest, but I'm sure it's the best in Ayr as it was amazing! The guy who served us was very friendly and really knowledgeable about the ingredients, their authenticity to Italy (i.e. no Spanish chorizo or pineapple allowed!!), as well as the Italian guys doing the pizza baking, and there was a great selection of toppings that all sounded delicious. Before we'd even eaten a thing we were sold!! When we did eat we were not disappointed and would highly recommend, as well as the very generous anti pasti we also had.

15th august Very disappointed … nothing like the fabulous pizza we had a few weeks ago. Didn’t taste freshly made … base was hard at the edges & soggy in the middle… impossible to pick up.

On my 4-week Scotland trip I was so happy to finally find some good food! It's rare to get Supplì outside of Italy, an absolute gem!

We stopped in out of chance as we liked the look of the shop. We had the best pizza and garlic bread that we’ve had for a very long time. Bumped into a mate who couldn’t say enough good things about the food. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Honestly these pizzas are to die for. The toppings actually feel nutritious and delicious and you can eat a full one without feeling too stuffed or the least bit bad about it. We had the 2 specials on Saturday and they were so good. The guys are also really friendly and enthusiastic. Must try!

Most authentic Italian food this side. I have ordered from here a few times now and the pizza is outstanding , even the sides as in potatoes etc are delicious , you can tell everything is made with care , had a lemon pastry of some sort and omg , absolutely brilliant , 100 percent recommend

I went there with with my dad and they were very welcoming and friendly, the food was amazing and the atmosphere is so nice, I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a good Italian pizza.

The best takeaway we have ever had! we had the pizza, risotto balls, antipasti, Canoli and the Italian pastry (with Nutella) I never write reviews but I’ve came straight on to write a review as the whole meal was incredible!! Well , as a person connected half of my life with food business i would like to say : chapeau bas . Everything fresh and really good quality , perfect customer service ... proper italian ingredients not like in other ayrshire pseudo italian restaurants . We can recommend this for everyone looking for proper pizza and other italian snacks ... Our personal favorite is antipasti mix with perfect proper mozarella and prosciutto . Big Thank You from The Hanger Team !!!!

Found Pizzaioli by chance and have to say it's one of the places you hope succeeds. I'm sure it will. it's too good not to. The owner is very pleasant and genuine, you can tell when someone takes great pride in what they do, the shop is pristine too. His pizza is 1st class straight from Italy 🤌 I will be back! To the owner... Move to Troon already, the pizzas there are cheap imitations.

Pizzas are simply to die for in this place. As an Italian who has eaten a lot of pizza in his life i can easily say the pizzas these guys make are outstanding! Excellent Supplì (traditional Roman starter) and divine Tiramisu as dessert. Best Italian food in Ayr without the shadow of a doubt!

Probably best pizza I have ever eaten.

Excellent pizza bases and nice toppings, but very disappointed that toppings were missing or substituted without any warning, and didn't notice until we got them home. No roast aubergine (replaced with red onion), and no capers (not replaced with anything) - when those pizzas were chosen specifically for those toppings. But as we'd driven all the way into Ayr and back to collect them, we didn't fancy the faff on in replacing them. For £14 per pizza I expect to have my toppings I ordered tbh. The "chipotle" mayo was just slightly beige mayo. No chipotle flavour at all. Will probably try again, but would check my pizzas before departing.

We got pizza here tonight for the first time and they were to die for! The ingredients were super fresh and the flavours were incredible. The two guys working tonight were very friendly too. We got a kids pizza for our little boy who said it was the best pizza he’s ever had (and he eats a lot of pizza)! We will definitely be back for more!

Finally the most authentic Italian pizzeria in Town, it's seriously delicious

My colleagues and I heard about this place from some friends so we thought we would give it a try. Well it is safe to say it's one of our new favourite places. The focaccia was to die for, the pizza slices were gorgeous and the soup was proper homemade goodness. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Such a welcome addition to ayr and very friendly staff.
