22nd Feb lady was so intensive and chatted with us...food great x

Top marks for this branch of the Blue Lagoon. The haggis was excellent as were the chips and the service was first class.

Went with my wife and had the best time, Graham and Ali were fantastic, had some great chat with them, Sit in is so much more expensive especially for a chippy, but the boys gave us a great experience. Will be back but for takeaway I think.

Went here for a chippy tea. Tasted amazing, clean and tidy restaurant. Staff were fantastic. Very polite, friendly and we were served very quickly.

Thee worst fish and chip shop I've ever come across. My partner had fish supper I could actually smell the fish before it was opened, incredible pong not fresh at all. I had haggis supper again haggis was terrible. They also never put in pickled onions. They're incredibly quick taking you cash when walking in and trying to sell you drinks the same enthusiasm should be applied to ensuring customers have every paid for. Definitely feel like I was robbed after this experience Lessons learn for us hopefully people read this before going to Ayr so you don't make same mistake we did. There is another place around corner which was qued out the door.

If you love bones with your fish, then this is the place to be! Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Do yourself a huge favour and stay clear of this place.

Went in for a late lunch. The place is lovely and quirky inside. The service is second to none and the food was delicious.

Good choice of food. Friendly, helpful, went the extra mile. Sitting in was perfect.

Was a bit apprehensive about going as we always loved the Wellington and to be honest we don't rate the blue lagoon in Glasgow burt decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did everything was lovely and cooked to perfection thanks to lindsay + reece

Right, the best haggis supper I've ever had. Chips were the usual high standard from an Ayrshire chip shop. My daughter's Irish and this was her first visit and I've not been home in too long. She commented on these being the best chips ever as we went off for the customary walk down the shore. At night though, to avoid the seagulls haha. Cheers lads for the prompt service and outstanding quality. There was a lengthy queue and good buzz indoors in the seated area. It's obviously a favourite among the locals. When I was a kid this place was also the well-renowned Wellington Cafe. Looks like the torch was successfully passed on. We didn't manage any pics of the food, it didn't last long enough. Delicious 🤤 Well done Blue Lagoon.

Fish was lovely as love a fish tea

Nipped in on the way thru ayr ordered small fish supper , single special could not eat the fish smelled like ammonia, wife says she will give you 2 stars as the chips were good £17 and we are still hungry 👎

Everything was good just onion rings cooked from frozen meal.

This places serves an incredible fish and chips, extremely good quality of food with great portions. Absolute credit to Lindsay and Iuan that were very eager to help, especially when it came to my disabled Grandfather. Honestly the best battered fish I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.

Very fresh food all of the time

Brilliant fish and chips battered sausages ample proportions and a lovely atmosphere 😋. Special mention of the lovely lady waitress Kim Reece. What a wonderful pleasant person. Efficient, a very winning smile and personality, well done, 😊 .We shall return when next in Ayr.

The fish and chips were incredible. We were served by Kim who couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. Wish I’d discovered the place before our last day would’ve been back multiple times over the course of a week

I was heading to Marco's fish & chips on Fort St. Ayr, but due to the queue inside I decided to venture a few yards further to The Blue Lagoon. Big mistake. I had only visited one Blue Lagoon before at the Fort Glasgow & had a sit it. The battered fish we had was very disappointing (even worse I ordered 2 pieces of fish) the fish was oily as were the chips. I decided to give The Blue Lagoon another chance but was disappointed once again, definitely won't be back. I'll just have to join the queue at Marco's. Sorry Blue Lagoon.

Very clean, nice decor good service and nice fish & chips can't ask for anything else.

Food was ok. Service from the guy on the counter yesterday 13/09/23 around 16:45 very poor. Don’t expect gushing welcomes but simple manners would not go amiss. Please and thank you go a long way. And maybe try looking at the customer as you hand the food over instead of being more interested in what your colleague is doing.

Found on Google...probably the best fish and chips we have ever had, fish was absolutely fantastic and the young lady that served us was brilliant (only been there a few weeks) credit where it's due 10 out of 10 and a definite when we are back up...worth the trip from Coventry

Great fish and chip restaurant with a large choice of GF food. We had a large order of 7 GF fish and chips so phoned ahead. Staff were wonderful. Remembered us from our last visit. When I arrived, the order was sitting waiting, still piping hot. All food is freshly prepared. The GF food is made in a separate fryer and has separate tongs too. So important for coeliacs. Good food. Good value. Good service. Our go-to fish restaurant in Ayr.

Took my partner from Switzerland their for her very first fish supper staff were brilliant really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent would highly recommend if in ayr

The amazing server was a stand out in this place. Watched her interact with many customers and the way she had time for everyone during a very busy time was impressive. I went back to tell the manager this and turns out the area manager was the lady that served me, I can see why she is the area manager 👌👌👌

Bought fish and chips for my son never tried them but he said it was amazing 8 pounds as it was sat they do deals Monday to Friday though

Not as good a chip shop as some people say it is..

Was not told we would need to wait longer for the food as they were using little fryers instead of the big usual fryers. This only came to our attention when another customer seen the fryer using a small fryer and shouted out to ask why he was using a small fryer! Frozen onion rings, at a fiver a portion! A single fish (with thin batter) was a tenner?! We were told it was haddock but it was whitening, and wasnt nice so had to ask for a refund. Terrible place, overpriced and under quality and awful customer service. Completely disappointed!!!!

I brought my 2 grand daughters for dinner, we enjoyed it very much, the staff were awesome, we would recommend it...we will be back

Always a quality meal since Blue Lagoon took over Wellington, staff are always polite and friendly, never waiting long for food & always fresh food for a busy place, clean & tidy tables and toilets...they know how to do it right!

Reece I think was manager who served me, absolutely brilliant service. I had a few allergies to make sure I was safe to consume. He gave me very good information so I knew it would be ideal for me & my wife. Great environment & he was really attentive so was Graham who was fantastic

The food and service was excellent but the amount of flies in the sit in section was very off-putting - there were literally loads of them flying around while we were eating 🤢

Lovely looking chip shop however I didn't enjoy my meal. And the staff weren't very friendly.

The only thing was it was far too hot. It was a very hot day and like an oven in the premises.

Spent £40 on five dinners Chips tasted stale and overall taste was not good We came from the haven expecting a proper tasting chips and fish were very disappointed with what we got Will not be going there again !

Been going to the Wellington for 20 years at least. And always enjoy it when I visit Ayr. Only thing was the prices have went up and you now don't get your extra bit of fish 😰 . Can't believe it's now closed down and worse than that it's being re - opened by the Blue Lagoon owners 😟 Tried the new Blue Lagoon formerly the Wellington and it just wasn't the same. I had to ask for a extra fish as it wasn't near enough as the Wellington. The service though from Javed was first class. I think it'll take a bit of getting used to.

Yvonne and Javed were incredibly friendly and very helpful. They sorted me out with a vegan sausage supper and were the best staff. Can 100% recommend and would absolutely return. Big love.

Popped in to the blue lagoon this afternoon during a trip to Ayr ….what can I say about the place ..well let’s start with our server Megan …although the restaurant was very busy and she was on her own dealing with the customers…she was very cheerful…and happy to help, apologised for our wait ..which on the grand scale was not that long …restaurant was very clean and very bright after its remodel..love the theming….food was great ..portion size was more than adequate..my partner and I left with full bellies. So all in all I’d say a 5 star visit to the blue lagoon in Sandgate Ayr. 😊😊

Pile of pish. Good customer service, but the fish and chips was just terrible was more batter than fish. Bland seasoning and chips aren't the best either. Guys on the till nice enough, so can't complain about that. I wouldn't return waste of money.

Ordered a gluten free fish supper,2 fish and a sausages supper. Was told after nearly 20 minutes they had a new fryer he didn't know how to do gluten free. When i got it home one of the fish was uneatable as it was overcooked and went hard like plastic. But even worse,the sausages were uneatable as the batter was Rock hard and looked burnt...£10.50 for the gluten free fish supper was way to expensive.

Had a fish tea , was absolutely spot on. Not greasy , very crispy . Chips were fresh . Would highly recommend. Fryer was Wullie Flau 10/10. Was very well priced .Sat outside and enjoyed the sun. Service was brilliant

Large fish supper £10.50. Was cold fish was dry full of bones and batter was like leather all were inedible went to bin

The pizza I got was the worst pizza ever. Virtually no cheese, or any other toppings on it. It was deep fried bread. Dreadful. Not a patch on their Glasgow shops.

The food was acceptable but the prices and portion size was not. £3.10 for a chip roll with a very small amount of chips is a little outrageous when compared to all other local chip shops who charge less and give a much larger portion sizes. Unfortunately I'll be sticking to the other shops.

Wilma is a superstar, so friendly. Great value, gorgeous fish, so sorry to hear they are having to shut due to the current financial nightmare that many businesses are facing. Wishing you all well!

Arrived, sat in a booth, server ignored us while chatting with a table who were obviously regulars. Eventually came and took our order where I felt extremely judged for asking for two smoked sausages. Food was average at best, and came before our drinks. I ordered tea and got a single milk along with. All in all, service was rude, food was nothing special, won't be returning. If you're looking for a good chippy, go to Marcos round the corner.

The best fish and chips we have had...fish was very fresh ...chips. were perfect and peas were amazing Staff and food was superb..cant reccomend enough.

Food was good and freshly cooked, only issue was the number of bones in the haddock.

It's clean fish and chips are a treat red hot straight from the Fryer to your plate no hanging about service is spot on

Absolutely disgusting worse chippy ever

Been having great fish and chips at The Wellington for 70 years. The lady who served me today was just like my dear Mum all these years ago. Always great. Used to go when it was across the road and called the Wellington Tearoom. That was looking onto Wellington.

Food lovely price good but for me the staff made it even more of a good experience ,pat and wilma made us so welcome and listened to our preferences would go there every time i am in ayr

Busy and noisy but great food and service as usual

Visited 17/7/22. Excellent food, great portions and quick service. The three young ladies at the takeaway counter were very friendly, professional and helpful. The only negative was the jobsworth elderly waitress on a power trip. Got a lot of attitude from her for taking my 3 year old to use the toilet which apparently is for sit down and not takeaway customers. She clearly needs to sort her life out.

My daughter got a hair in her king rib supper and threw the lot in the bin, the shop has went downhill from years ago,

We popped into here to eat before catching a bus. It immediately brought us both back to when we were kids, and the fish and chips were delicious and wrapped in newspaper. We are in, so it was served by the sweetest lady on plates. Would happily eat here again!

we was on a stop over after a Scottish holiday and we found this place. what a gem. my wife had fish chips and peas and I had steak pie chips and gravy. absolutely amazing. Great service with a smile and well priced.

Went in for lunch to take away last Wednesday during an afternoon trio to Ayr absolutely lovely sausage battered and cooked to perfect standard very generous portion of chips came in hungry left with food as weather was gorgeous and left feeling full best chippy in Ayr

Excellent fish and chips! We met up with a long time friend in Ayr & we stopped at Wellington's for a great lunch! Our waitress was amazing; very cozy lunch spot.
