Caffe Nero in South Ayrshire

Cmon Nero .....what the heck !!!! Your coffee is fantastic but still you don't take the hint.....animals belong outside !!!!! Today sitting with my family having coffee in one of our favourite places.... everything suddenly again became tainted. What is it you don't understand.....dog people just don't care about anyone else. We were sitting enjoying our beautifully made coffee when in come a couple with 2 dogs straining at their leads. They immediately sat down behind us and actively sat their smelly dogs ***on the couch*** ..yes ON the couch. This is absolutely disgusting...I for one wouldn't like to sit on a couch where dogs have sat their 'unwiped' behinds on. The dogs even ate off the seat as the couple threw food to them on the seat.....what the fudge. DOGS NEED TO BE KEPT OUTSIDE.

Have had a good cup of coffee here a few times, quick friendly staff and good separation of tables

Very central coffee shop in Ayr with plenty of indoor seating between the couches and chairs. The pistachio cheesecake is definitely worth trying and the baristas know how to make decent coffee too. Only down side is the seating further in seemed a little dark

A nice place for good coffee and food

Still by far, one of the best coffees in town. The service is most often reflective of this, and if you're lucky enough to be a regular with a face that fits, the customer service is second to none.

Coffee was great but the service was shocking. The two young member of staff just continued to talk to each other instead of serving

I like to go here to sit at outside tables. Only thing is that it's a magnet for all the paper rubbish at top end of high street and this really takes away from the kerb appeal of the place. A few minutes picking up the litter and binning it would improve it dramatically.

We came in for a coffee and a sandwich, hoping for a nice time (that's why we didn't go to Greggs), wanted a better place. While waiting in the queue, we couldn't help but notice the counter, and it was a mess –horrendously dirty and dusty. It was obvious to any guest, and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The tables were very dirty, and there were crumbs on the sofas. Then we got our reheated sandwich, but the cutlery was filthy, with chocolate cake remnants from the previous guest on the fork. I asked for new ones and still had to wipe them with napkins. You really need a strong manager to keep an eye on cleanliness. The ceiling near the toilet needs a wee bit of repair as well. Please pay attention to these issues. It used to be better, but after this visit, I'm not sure I'll come back.

Very nice and quiet, good service, delicious coffee and cakes. A perfect place to sit after shopping on High Street.

Can I just start with the positive...the coffee in this establishment is fantastic. Now for the downside....if you have an issue with being surrounded by dogs and owners who just don't care what anyone thinks then this is not the place for you. Whenever did it become acceptable or even healthy to have animals around human food establishments. Today I watched one dog sitting on the couch being fed by it's owner and eating the food off the seat... disgusting. The dogs bowl was sat on the table people eat from and was being used to splash over the dog and couch !!!. Next to me was another owner with her dog on the seat which was so smelly I couldn't taste my coffee, also being fed. I don't know about anyone else but I don't like to think I am sitting on a chair where a dogs rear has been on just after it has potentially done the toilet.

We visited this shop at least a couple of times in a few days , we were visiting Ayr,, the coffee was good & the girls serving was also good ,, but the place needs cleaning up , It,s really not good at all, The tables are old and marked with stains also the chairs are old & never been cleaned, the place is a sorry state, you need to up grade it, You get plenty of customers as your coffee ect & food are really good Hopefully next time we visit you have done some think to improve the place

Popped in for a cup of tea and enjoyed a bacon and brie panini. The member of staff i dealt with was busy and friendly. Sat outside despite the strong breeze. Very enjoyable.

Great coffee and lovely staff. The manager works really hard despite the obvious challenges and she makes the perfect Cappuccino!

Premises very tired and needs refreshing. Regular coffee good. Decaff coffee very poor. Bacon roll OK. Tuna panini disappointing poor and not good value, hardly any filling see photos. No presentation of food, no cutlery supplied. Could do so much better.

Caffe Nero is always good. It's the same throughout the UK. High quality coffee and suitable snacks. The staff in Ayr are very reliable and considerate and always provide a good quality service. Definitely a good place to go for an excellent coffee etc.

Staff is friendly however I think they should have at least one more person working on the weekends. If Caffè Nero wants to maintain a clean environment they should simply employ more staff. tables are dirty and toilets are disgusting. i could smell the toilets from my table so we had to move to another one. Disappointed with how disgusting the cafe was. Not staff’s fault as they seemed understaffed.

Great place to sit with a terrific coffee and watch the world go by. Dog friendly as well.

This could do with a makeover. Such a dreary cafe inside, quite grubby and very little selection of cakes even late morning. Staff don't seem very interested in customer service.

The drinks are generally pretty tasty and the cakes are pretty good too, however the cutlery is filthy. My partner and I had to use hand sanitiser and tissues to clean dried food and dirt off of the cutlery before use. Come for drinks but don't bother ordering food that requires cutlery unless you're prepared to clean it first.

Coffee is good. Food pre packeged and heated. Staff were friendly and polite. Place is tired and grubby. Toilets disgusting!! Obviously in a comfort zone due to location. Place needs a revamp or at least a thorough clean. Take a visit to Gro Coffee to see how it's done. Wont be back regardlessof free vouchers.

Not very clean and tables dirty. Asked for the key for disabled toilet thinking there's baby changing facilities but told they don't have a key for it? Will go Costa next time

A/C unit was leaking onto the floor / bowl . No health and safety .

The place is filthy, toilets included. Tables not cleared and looked like there was only two staff on duty. Wouldn’t go here ever again.

Just had coffee at 11am, the floor was covered with lots of bits of rubbish not a good atmosphere

COULD BE CLEANER... Dusting not done on shelves.....lds toilet needs tiding up and Cleaned...very POPULAR CAFE....a shame its NOT UP TO STANDARD ONE WOULD EXPECT. !! STAFF VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL..X

Foods a bit expensive service is great always with a smile. Atmosphere is great and your dogs are welcome here 2 which is a bonus.

What a horrible dirty cafe! Went in for a quick cuppa and thought that by opting for a well known brand and coffee shop it would be a safe bet. It wasn’t until I ordered that I realised the table was dirty and the fabric chair was matted in with dirt. It was early in the day but the floor looked as if it had t been cleaned in days. No toilet roll in any of the toilets which means they hadn’t been checked for ages. The cup of tea tasted ok but that’s about all I could stomach. Two members of staff on duty looked harassed although the barista was pleasant enough.

As a former Branch Manager of this branch it really saddens me to see the state of the place. We wanted to grab a lunch and going into the place the front of the shop is awful. Every table covered in dirty cups and plates. Dirty windows and doors. On entry we noticed no sandwiches on a bank holiday weekend?? Someone hasn’t managed the orders properly? I still opted for a coffee. Only one person serving and let’s say she looked annoyed she was there. No conversation. No smile nothing. Awful, From standing the place is full of clutter. The behind shelves are full of boxes and rubbish. This is what the customer sees! Make it presentable! The counter is full of A4 adverts. Pastry oven broken? Or maybe you have no stock or can’t be bothered with the setup in the Morning? The whole shop was full of dirty cups and trays. I certainly wasn’t sitting in. Looks dark with many spot lights out on the ceiling. Needs a major overhaul starting with the staff and the attitude towards the customers. We went to costa in Ayr which was night and day. Desperately needs attention.

This cafe is our local Nero, let’s start with the positives; the coffee is good, really good; the toilets are good, especially for disabled customers. Now for the not so good. Today we visited (20/04/2023) and were served by a young lady who was pleasant and friendly but we engaged with a colleague, a tall gentleman, who was grumpy and rude. When pointing out that the multitude of signs and items on the serving counter made it very hard to communicate with a customer in a wheelchair we were met with a ‘what’. Pointing out that there was clear visibility between the server and the wheelchair user we where told ‘I don’t know what you are saying’. There was no attempt to communicate or help us and his facial \ body language was terrible. Over the last few weeks the air conditioner has been broken so the cafe is extremely hot. No effort is being made to keep the front of the store, specifically the floor, clean and today there was a mop and bucket left for all to enjoy as an installation of domestic art. There were also no pastries today as the pastry oven was broken, the sign alerting customers to this had joined the other clutter blocking the view of the till display and easy communication with the staff. This cafe is popular but if they wish to remain so they need to improve on their customer experience, especially for their vertically challenged and disabled customers.

Someone had a accident in the mens cubicle . Reported it to a staff member and was quite dismissive telling me that the cleaner would be in later .Not good enough and disgusting .

Stopped for a coffee today in Ayr high street. It was a might fine flat white.

Great place to have coffee. The staff and friendly and helpful. Even though it's a bit more expensive, it's certainly value for money

First time visit cafe Nero and it’ll be the last. The whole place is dirty. Couldn’t enjoy my coffee for thinking about how grubby the place was. Couldn’t wait to leave.

Great branch. The coffee is good and I like the special coffees and usually try when they come on. The staff are quick, friendly and polite.

Went in this morning with my wife for a quick coffee, won’t be back! The place was filthy, place wasn’t busy but rubbish all under our table and chairs and table had dried in coffee stains and crumbs from food all welded into it Won’t be back

One of the dirtiest coffee shops I have ever been in. Tables are filthy with no sign of staff even attempting to clear and clean. Basic requirement not being met. Won't be back.

Love Caffe Nero, especially the one in Ayr. I used to prefer Starbucks but since starting work in Ayr, Caffe Nero was closer and now I love their luxury hot chocolate. Lovely atmosphere inside, always clean and tidy and the staff are amazing! So welcoming and friendly. I love their loyalty rewards, a stamp every time you order a drink and they equal a free drink. I also love when it's a special season and they do festive offers through the app too.

Busy but absolutely filthy. Asked barista if he could clear peoples dirty dishes off our table. Never happened. Saw another guy wash a cup to be used immediately,ran his fingers round inside of cup! Done! Will not be back.

Was in the cafe Wednesday 9th Nov. Asked the staff if I could use the toilet, they just said it was broke, there are having a laugh, will not be using this place again.

Staff are nice but only 2 on were pushed to do everything ,like their coffee but the it needs a good clean shabby not serving staff fault either remodel employ a cleaner or sell up sorry for being negative but the chairs were dirty under the soft drinks counter thick with dirt glass on the doors were filthy so sorry to say I will not go back .

Not only were we charged twice for our items , it was an extremely disappointing sit-in experience . paper cups , cakes shoved in paper bags !!! an absolute mess on surrounding tables , staff very young and very lazy just chatting to themselves and other local staff from surrounding businesses , toilets were filthy and we were charged twice as previously mentioned and not given a receipt , tried to phone in to ask how to get a refund for the extra charge and phones being ignored, shocking service from a cafe we usually use as we enjoy and get good service from their other branches.

Lovely atmosphere and great coffee. Nice and relaxing. Go at least twice a week.

It's ok, hate thick mugs which is what tea is served in much prefer traditional tea shops.

Had a cappuccino & muffin as normal. Cappuccino was lousy. Normally pretty good so hopefully an off day.

Paper cups in store to save washing up. No napkins. Overcharged for muffin and then forgot to give it until we reminded them. Coffee delicious though and tables were clean.

Caffe Nero Ayr. Only accepting card payment Paper cups only ! Only one girl on + trainee No one to wash up. Hate paper cups. Toasted tea cake arrived with 2 little butters, she took one away, only one allowed.!!! Poor show.

OK - it may be my age - but when I come out for coffee - it the experience as well as the coffee that counts. Food -OK. Coffee - weak today. 10:20 in morning - all being served in paper cups and croissants in bags!!! They said they were short staffed - so no crockery. They did not seem short staffed - and had time to chat among themselves behind the serving counter - not clearing the debris on vacated tables. Sorry - not a restful experience. I will not be back soon! There are other coffee shops!

The coffee varies from excellent to terrible depending on the barista, the lady working the other week made a perfect cappuccino and espresso and caramel drink however the guy today has made 2 coffees that are a similar temperature to the surface of the sun, they just taste of burnt milk and even after 20 minutes are undrinkable, he also got the order wrong To summarise if its any of the guys that are working then give it a wide berth

Place is OK but needs a look at in the decorations department. Still; coffee is good with interesting staff.

Pleasant staff but the tray was wringing wet and meant my table was also wet and I needed to dry it, tea tasted soapy. Not a great experience
