Community pub... The way a pub should be. Great food for incredible prices, service fast and friendly, locals welcoming. Love a game of pool here and at 50p a go shows the care for community here. Ales are some of the best I've ever had, poured to the highest standard. Genuinely anyone that appreciates ale can see and taste the difference. These lines must be immaculate. The portion size is perfect enough you can't eat it all without being over the top. As a salad lover the side salad is top notch. The variety of fresh produce and French dressing is crisp fresh and best I've had in pub in years. Wonderfully the New Inn in Oakdale has equally great food now... Turns out same management. So grateful to have to wonderful pubs now locally. As a newbie to Oakdale its so refreshing the locals, people, pubs staff and mgrs provide such a fab community feel. A must visit. Try the stone baked pizzas... You can take half home for later... So impressed. The warmth is refreshing. 5*****

Great community pub, good food and lovely Sunday roasts. Well kept beer served by friendly staff. Can be very noisy with poor language when sport is on. Dogs welcome.

Since this place was taken over by Zoe in May it has become a very inviting place to drink and eat. It is extremely clean and reasonably priced. Carvery is served every Wednesday and Sunday.

Zoe and the team have worked so hard to freshen the pub up!! What a difference and it feels bigger and brighter somehow! The team and friendly, the cakes are fantastic and the dough balls are addictive!!!

We are regular customers. the carvery is great, the meat is cooked to perfection and the staff are friendly. The only thing we miss now is Kristy’s friendly smiling face as she went around waitressing!

More of a pub than a restaurant. Not the nicest place to establish in as it's a bit rough and can get very loud with drunks. Good food though.

We went on on Sunday at 5pm, the restaurant end was quiet. Excellent carvery, very generous portion of meats, lovely selection of vegetables. For those who don't want to sit in ,you can have a take away . The pub has an outside area and plenty of parking in car park next to it.

They do a good Sunday roast here with a choice of usually turkey, gammon or beef (or a mix if you want) and a Yorkshire pudding and then a selection of vegetables from you which you help yourself to as much as you want. These usually include broccoli, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, peas, carrots, roast potatoes, new potatoes and stuffing. I’ve never gone home anything other than well-fed! The food is served good and hot. Other meals are available from a fairly typical pub menu and drinks of course, both of which you order from the bar. There is no service at tables other than delivering food. The atmosphere is that of a typical pleasant pub and there is plenty of parking outside in the car park which serves a supermarket and other shops.

Great friendly staff as usual, we arrived to find out the Wednesday carvery was no more, we ordered from the menu as we know this is normally good, I won’t complain about my friends but the inconsistency with the meals were unbelievable with mine being the worst.

Friendly staff ,The best carvery/roast dinner I've had for a long time,3 choices of meat, lots of veg,but the best thing I want is perfect roast potatoes and a great gravy and it ticked both boxes

As soon as you walk in you can tell that The Pilot is a true local pub. People know each other and it is well used by the community. I'm based in Hornchurch, on the East London / Essex border, but my Dad's cousin Joy and her husband, Ron, have lived in Canford Heath for many years and have been coming to The Pilot regularly since they first moved to the estate and with such fantastic portion sizes at such a good price you can easily understand why! In addition to the carvery, they do have a menu of standard meals you can order. None of this is fancy / fine dining, but if you want good quality food at a decent price, you won't find any reasons to complain at The Pilot. We all had the carvery on this visit and it was really good. The roast potatoes were amazing! The entire pub was clean, well lit and had ample tables for diners and drinkers, plus two pool tables which are clearly well used. Staff are friendly and helpful and the toilets were very clean and nicely decorated. Architecturally, this isn't the most exciting building to look at from the outside - it's a standard, modern pub, built for the estate, which is also fairly bland, but inside it feels much nicer thanks to the decor - loads of vintage radio casings and signs which give the place character. We came in via the side door, which is up two steps. I didn't see if the main entrance is wheelchair accessible, but I would say there is sufficient room inside to get round easy enough, provided it wasn't really busy. Also didn't notice if they had an accessible toilet, but I wasn't looking - call to check this in advance if you need it.

We went for the carvery on Mother's Day. Absolutely delicious roast, and not expensive, so worth it for the money. The staff were so lovely as well. I will be back, especially for more carvery.

Vary bad. To expensive for drinks. I didn't spend to much at £4.90 a pint. Poole tablets warpled, Cues with loose tip ,

Small piece of fish, tasted great. Batter not oily. Too many chips and peas.

Recently moved to Canford Heath and didn’t want to spend £20 for a small plate of a roast in the usual bars we go to. Decided to try The Pilot and wow! The fact the carvery is £12.95 AND that you can pick as much trimmings/sauce/potatoes as you want was one thing but the best part was how tender and moist the turkey was. I noticed the chef serving really cared about the hygiene and appearance of the area too. Definitely will be back again and even go for a takeaway!

Excellent food good value for money

I love this place. It's been my regular since moving to Candford heath. Very well priced food and drink. Lovely staff. Great atmosphere. A proper pub with family dinning if you want it. Or darts and pool table If that's your thing. Lisa and the crew do a great job.

Popped in for a game of pool & some food... Ham Egg and chips was my choice & I have to say the portions are huge 😊 excellent value for money. Pleasant ladies working there too Thank you Ladies 😊 I will definitely be back

Just had Sunday Lunch at The Fighter Pilot. Brilliant 👏 very tasty 😋 home cooked Sunday lunch !! We will definitely go back, couldn't fault it 👌 I believe they even do takeaway Sunday lunch which we will definitely give a go! Good value for money £12.95. Would recommend a try 👌

As usual food is lovely and always "hot", cant stand being served cold food. The carvery is thebes, the nicest Roast Beef ive had in any carvery or restaurant. Excellent selection of drinks, watch footie and/or just slouch on the many sofas. Lovely people, cant lose..

Sadly this pub is closing early, no signs up, no food past 745pm closing at 9pm sometimes. I have been going for years as used to play squash there so it's a sad decline, and at this rate could soon be closed!

Friendly family pub, the staff are always attentive, the food is top quality, especially the Sunday roast, which would beat the pub chains any day.

I never rate 5 stars. But I feel I have too. The carvery was better and more for your money than a Toby. The chocolate sponge cake for perfect! The coke I find always tastes a bit off in pubs but not this one! The ice cream was at first site not a lot. I bit down to find more in the cone as I ate the cone. Just the best pub I have every been. I will tell my friends and family about it and will come back

Welcoming atmosphere with couple of pool tables to enjoy. They also offer fairly sized dining area. Our kids love the double portion of chips which is huge.

Unfortunately although the carvery was ok we were appalled at the state of the chef carving the meat. His black jacket was disgusting. Put us off I’m afraid. We came on Wednesday 20 April at 6.45pm

Great atmosphere, incredible food, 2 pool tables at 50p per play, plenty of TVs and Sky Sports if that's your thing, friendly punters.

Great atmosphere, dog friendly in the bar area, friendly staff and they show sports too. We will definitely be regulars here. We haven't tried the food yet but I've heard it's amazing so will be trying it soon

Popped in as on a bike ride and got the kids a ice cream easter egg, that absolutley loved it, and was only £3 👏👏

Be here a couple of times just for a drink. Had seen the carvery and thought we would bring my mother in law for mothers day. The carvery was fantastic. 3 choices of meat and a great selection of vegetables. The meat portions were generous and the meal was hot and tasty.The staff were all friendly and helpful, we will definitely be back.

Poorly lit but the staff were friendly. I come here occasionally hoping that someone will get a good grip of the kitchen but my steak pie was very short on steak and the pastry topping was not great. On my last visit a couple of years ago, I felt short changed with the chicken tikka that was short on meat. I expect I will try again in a couple of years or so just because it's my local

Went to the Thursday coffee morning for a business meeting. Coffee was excellent and was complemented by homemade cake. Great idea to bring the community together. Lovely atmosphere, thank you 😊

Went here for dinner wasn't to impressed to be honest the pub itself looks very run down and as for the food that wasn't that great either not sure if the staff even know what thier doing, the roast dinner looked liked it had been out for hours, I ordered a omelette cheese and ham as don't particular like a roast and they had to ask me 3 times what I ordered as they forgot then it took 15- 20 mins to come out by then my other half had eaten most of her dinner as for the cost it's reasonable The golden question would i eat thier again DEFINITELY NOT plenty of other places to eat in poole and will not be returning any time soon

Went in after school run to grab a quick drink with my son, decided to get some food. Saw chips and cheese on the menu. Took a chance, let me tell you they were the best thing I've ever had.

The best bar staff on planet earth - talked my dad into letting me have a slush, crisps and an ice cream!!

I moved to poole last year and I was looking for some where to have a Sunday roast dinner with my wife ,i was recommended a pub called The Pilot in craneford heath which is about 10 minutes away, we both enjoyed our Sunday lunch the service and staff was superb and to top it all I now play for their Dart team

The beef here was really well cooked and you had plenty of it. Was let down a little by the service as we had no idea how things worked and the staff were not very inviting

9 of us went for a carvery for my wife's 50th birthday on Sunday the meal was excellent couldn't ask for anymore will definitely return when we are next in poole

Food was painfully slow in coming.

Husbands retirement held here. Brilliant evening only ordered basic food for everyone but could have fed the whole pub there was so much. Staff really friendly

Overlooked by many yet deserving of a great review. Pleasant and welcoming staff. The beers cold, well looked after and refreshing. Food was excellent for all 4 of us and decent value for money. This place is unassuming and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Well done and thank you.
