Wonderful diner!!! Amazing place. Thank for the food and drink.

We have been here twice now. The roast is really good and decently priced. However, the set lunch menu should not be missed! The bread with beef dripping was perfection and one of the best dishes we have had in London.

Sunday roast was legit. Will come back!

Really delicious food - loved the beetroot and goat cheese appetiser, the crab crostini, the mussels, the halibut, the gnocchi, the venison and the sirloin (though the last one one was chewy at certain parts). There’s aren’t too many veggie options but what’s there is nice. The ambiance is lovely and cozy. Service was good, although they took a long time with our mains and then weren’t able to offer dessert as they needed our table for the next reservation - they were apologetic about this and gave us negronis on the house (which were delicious) that we enjoyed at the bar. Will need to come back for dessert!

Probably the best restaurant food we have experienced. The ambience is amazing the friendly staff contributed to the most perfect dining experience. We will definitely be back for more.

I don't usually leave reviews. However, the food was outstanding. Also the service was as good as you'll get. Given how busy it was, the tall male waiter was topping up our wine and table water. 10/10.

Excellent evening at the pig and butcher. Delicious Hogget main - a tasty combination of slow cooked and rare. The beef tartare starter was excellent.

I'll be frank: I'be had better roast dinners for less. My friend and I got the braised lamb, and whilst the lamb was tender and juicy, it wasn't particularly interesting flavour-wise, and also had to be excavated out from under a thick layer of fat. The vegetables were nice, but not particularly stand-out, whilst I found the roast potatoes middling and the yorkshire pudding to be very dry. Also, there wasn't very much gravy and no mint sauce (I believe you have to ask for it, which whilst I understand, almost everywhere else I've ever been just gives you a lake of gravy and pot of mint sauce or use or ignore as you please). If the price was dropped closer to £20, I'd say it's not a bad shout for Sunday roast; for the present cost, though? Kind of overpriced.

We went for a Sunday Roast with friends, and got there a few minutes earlier than the booking, so the staff told us to wait outside (it was cold and raining...). 5-10 min after booking time our table was finally ready for us, so we went inside. The food was very good, but unfortunately the service was quite poor. After we paid, and just as we were finishing a bottle of wine (still about 15 min before our slot ended) the waiter told us we needed to leave. Then we asked to at least get the rest of our wine and he served it abruptly, spilling bits of wine on the table. It was very unprofessional. It's a shame because the food was really good, but we're unlikely to return because of the service.

Love this place, great food, wine and atmosphere but the service we got today was extremely inattentive and slow. Things came we didn’t order, things we ordered didn’t come, wine was promised on the house and added to the bill anyway. Not what it used to be service wise.

I chose to spend my birthday here because the team at The Pig and Butcher is simply the best! Nora, impeccable floor manager, made sure we had a great time. She's the perfect example of how a kind, smiling, and attentive person makes all the difference in a venue. Kassim and Giovis were so kind and helpful. They really went above and beyond to make it a unique experience. Special mention: their Vegan Sunday Roast.

A pub worth going out of your way to visit. Great beers on tap, and one of the best scotch eggs you’ll ever have.

Awful don't eat here!!! Found hair in my food and the waitress said no sorry must have been yours... I asked to talk to the chef and apparently he said no she can leave if she has an issue. Was just trying to have a lovely meal with my fiancé.

Food was very disappointing yesterday, considering the price point. The beef was just OK, the potatoes were incredibly hard and smooth(?!) on the outside and the veg were underdone. Waiter didn’t come by to check how the food was. This place has a reputation and with it prices which it really didn’t live up to.

Smelt quite grim (I suppose as expected with meats butchered onsite). We were welcomed, our order was taken and then the staff started cleaning aggressively around us. Stools placed on tables around etc. Felt very much like they would have preferred we were not there. So not a pleasant pub atmosphere as expected.

One of the best ever Sunday dinners Along with one of the best waiters too ..knowledge, humour, professionalism in one. Food was truly lovely. Only had a main course but everything looked delicious. No complaints from me for sure! x

We booked the private room for my 30th and I cannot fault the food, the room or the lovely people that were our main points of contact on the day. However, a particular few individuals were rude to my family both over the phone and in person and one gentleman (tall, grey and bald) behind the bar treated us with a rudeness I couldn’t quite believe. Regardless of this one individual, it is a wonderful pub with delicious food and was a wonderful day.

Best thing about the meal was our waitress. She was lovely. We've been coming there for years, used to be our favourite Sunday roast but the quality has deteriorated, and it was just.. ok.. an ok roast. Other than that, we were 10 minutes late which I calleo to notify and was told it was ok, we were greeted with: we were just about to give away your table. At the end of the meal, after we paid we were prompt to leave by the host 3 times as the next table are "about to arrive" my friend asked if it's ok for me to finish feeding my baby. We felt the host was a little rude. We will search for another Sunday roast.

Came for Sunday roast. The food was amazing. The lamb was so tender and delicious. The gravy went well with the veg. Definitely would come back again. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They helped us situate the right amount of food. They shared tips about what to see around town as well. Next time I’m in London I’ll be making it a point to swing by here again.

We had a great time here the other day, perfect spot for some delicious food and chilled drinks. We loved the vibe. I have to give a shout out to the American manager who was really friendly and accommodating – will definitely be back!

Absolutely fantastic experience at The Pig and Butcher! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and served by an incredibly friendly American guy who made us feel right at home. His warmth and attentiveness went above and beyond, making our visit truly memorable. Not only was he knowledgeable about the menu, but he also gave great recommendations that made the meal even more special. The food was top-notch, but the service made it exceptional. We felt so welcomed and well taken care of that it elevated the entire dining experience. If you’re looking for a place with amazing food and even better service, this is it! We'll definitely be back!

Took my dad for his first Sunday roast here while he was visiting. Amazing food and even better service by the guy from NYC who served us! Can only recommend.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of booking this place without being there before and thinking it was a gastro pub like many others in London when in reality it looks more like a proper restaurant. For this reason we did not have much food however, this is irrelevant as the experience was completely ruined by the manager and the way she treated me and some of my friends. A couple of days before I had a phone call with her to discuss the numbers and we had a little misunderstanding regarding the additional presence of 2 kids - one new born who obviously stayed on her mom lap the whole time and a 4 y.o. which I told her about during our call. Once I arrived there she talked to me in a way that it is simply unacceptable. No misunderstanding can justify the rude and aggressive way she used to talk to me and I never experienced anything like that before in any other place I have ever been. I was appalled. In addition to that, another small group of friends booked last minute an additional table and when they arrived she couldn't even tolerate us saying hi to each other. She kept looking at us in a very unpleasant way and made us feel uncomfortable the whole time. She even stopped a friend of mine who was simply going out for a cigarette asking him to be seated. Again, I never seen anything like that and the way she approached some of us was completely unnecessary. At the end of the evening she was gone and I left my feedback to another member of staff who was instead much nicer and comprehensive. The place in itself is good even though overpriced but this is irrelevant considering how the all experience was.

I was lucky to be invited to a private dining experience at the PnB. I must admit, I ate like a PIGlet, various meats hot and cold, carved by a good BUTCHER, prepared by a good kitchen. Really good food, smooth service, and calm atmosphere. I know the menu changes throughout the year, but if you get an opportunity to visit, then look out for 'Pea, Courgette & Burrata salad...no I am not a vegetarian but a simple complimenyary salad with pleasant flavours.

Single handedly the worst service experience I’ve ever had the displeasure (or perhaps pleasure, because it was hilarious) of experiencing in London. We arrived 5 minutes early and were told to “go take a walk in the area” or get a drink at the bar. When we did try to procure said drink, the bartender was seemingly too interested in the dishwasher - so that by the time we did actually get served, our reservation had technically started. But, no apology was given for the fact that our table was not ready - nor were we offered anything to compensate for this delay. From that point on, chaos reigned. Staff who looked petrified and didn’t know the menu. Being served apple sauce instead of ketchup with chips. Wait staff who were rude and clearly unhappy to be there. Every time we were served at least one other waiter would come past to ask the same thing. Then, at the end of our reservation, they tried to push us out - even though we had sat down at our table late and still had wine to finish.

We went to The Pig and Butcher for Sunday lunch with some friends who had a baby. We were running 10 minutes late due to traffic but called ahead to let them know and apologised. When we got there, they greeted us with ‘you had three minutes before we gave away your table’. They are totally within their rights to give away tables if people are late or don’t show up, but we were within the time limit so it was a strange comment. Saying that, our waitress was lovely and super attentive, and did a great job. The food was fine. We all had the chicken crown roast for two. The chicken and potatoes were a bit dry and the cabbage was soggy, but the Yorkshires were nice as was the cauliflower cheese. They came to tell us that they needed the table back, which was again, fine, and we got the bill. As we paid the bill my friend started to breastfeed her child. Someone else came over to our table to say that the next party were just arriving, to which I said ‘is it ok if she just finishes feeding her baby?’ To which the woman went ‘I said the next party is starting to arrive’ she was super rude, we had paid the bill and were ready to go aside from the baby being fed. We paid £200 for the privilege of mediocre food and two people being really snappy with us for no reason at all. It’s a shame as we’ve been to the pig and butcher before and it used to be brilliant. Won’t be going back.

I have been there several times over the years and I can say that in my opinion it is one of the best gastropubs in London, a nice environment with soft lights, friendly staff but truly excellent cuisine with very high quality raw materials. If you are lucky and manage to book the Sunday roast it is superb.

It's not the best Sunday roast in London. It's not bad, it's just ranked 3rd out of 3 that I have tried thus far. The meat and the sides were unseasoned and required a lot more gravy, salt and pepper to become enjoyable HOWEVER. Their starters are top-notch. Me and my fiancée shared a scotch egg and the tartare. They were both amazing The service is also a bit slow but they are extremely polite

It is a British-style pub located slightly on the outskirts of the city and its history can be traced back to the mid-19th century. The name "Pig and Butcher" shows its deep connection with meat. The original location was a livestock distribution center in the 19th century. The current Pig and Butcher is Emphasizing the source, quality, variety and integrity of the meat used, other ingredients also emphasize freshness and seasonality. When I visited this time around 5pm on a weekday evening, unfortunately the kitchen had not officially started working yet, so I had to order two snacks to try. Scotch Egg, a classic British pub food, was named Pig and Butcher on the menu. It's a signature dish, and this Scotch Egg is really delicious, with just the right texture and flavor. The beef dripping that was named in the Michelin guide is even more amazing. The sourdough bread that comes with it is already simple and beautiful, and it becomes even more tempting after being smeared with whipped cream. Whether the two are served alone or together That beef dripping... OMG! The Michelin guide describes the rich aroma of this tallow as "deeply addictive". I think it's an understatement? It is really extremely charming, the kind of taste that will make you feel a little shocked when you take it in, and you will be very satisfied while enjoying it and afterwards. As far as individual diners are concerned, these two snacks are actually fulfilling enough. If you want to order more main dishes, which must be exciting, you can only save them for next time. Highly recommended, beef dripping ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Food is good but it's all just a bit wanky and overpriced

Sadly after over 10 years of visiting the Pig and Butcher I think I have made my last. This has nothing to do with food, it's always fantastic so lets get that out the way - the wine list also. Where this place has steadily declined over many years is in its service. On my most recent trip for my brothers birthday, we had booked for 9pm, turned up right on time, table wasn't ready which was fine so we waited at the bar (not much room and felt like we were too close to tables eating food getting in their space) Over an hour and 10 minutes later "Our" table was finally ready. Really the upstairs function had finished so they decided to stick us up there (and force a poor member of staff to stay on another 3 hours after her shift to accommodate us) There were 7 things on the menu that were out of stock, plus the steak board which had 6 steaks crossed out had only one left. We were then hurried into ordering, starter, mains & deserts within 10 minutes of sitting down because the kitchen was going to close. Just before getting our deserts we were refused another bottle of wine (there were 9 of us, would have taken 5 mins to drink) then half way through deserts they came up and said "right we're chucking you out" After receiving the bill they had comped a few beers and a wine that we ordered at the bar downstairs. Not being very happy we had a discussion and ended up with £150 off, which is probably about fair. However we then go downstairs to leave and there are still people sat at tables downstairs. I've worked in hospitality for most of my career, and this is just a horrible experience start to finish. Why didn't they chuck the people off the table we had booked with as much force as they chucked us out? Why did they think a few pints and a wine was acceptable compensation? We were a party of 9 spending nearly £700 I would expect more even if I was on a cheap date with my girlfriend.

Decent spot! Have been trying to get a reservation for a year or so. Finally got down and it was just decent. I think some other spots in the area take the cake on food quality but would happily go again. Service was lacking but they were slammed so can’t really be too mad and we were in no rush.

Poor service and mediocre food for the price. The place gives you a pub feel yet it charges for a french restaurant with a Michelin star. It was loud so when they forgot to bring us one of the entrées we thought to forgive them for it, somehow they remembered to put it on the check though. Everyone instinctively laughed when we saw the main dishes, the portions were tiny. They forgot to bring the desert, the manager even said to themselves "worst manager today". The company was great, but we had to provide it.

So jealous of Londoners! I loved The Pig and Butcher's food and amazing staff way too much. You feel at home in their space with friendly staff and welcoming interior from larger wooden tables, large windows bringing in natural light, and the sweet touches of home. The food was outstanding with great prices for both their coursed lunch or a la carte menu. I would highly recommend stopping by and showing yourself some love and making a new friend at The Pig and Butcher!

Best gastro pub I've visited in London.

What is happening at The Pig and Butcher? for the first time it didn't feel like a 5 start experience. Portions have got smaller, which is not really an issue, but noticeable. The disappointing part is we felt rushed to order more drinks, or to leave the table after 1h30. It used to be a much more enjoyable experience for a leisurely Sunday meal with friends or family. But if this is the model going forward (just like Pidgin), I'll be heading to The Crown a couple blocks away and come back just for the delicious chocolate cheesecake. It won't take me more than 5min guys.

Rustic, cute, cozy, low-key, loved it. The food is great with very good selection of wines, all for decent price. I was pleased to see scotch egg on the menu, which made me think how nice would’ve been to see some other pub classics. Anyhow, I’m not in the business so what do I know. As a costumer I’d be coming back, so well done!

We had Sunday roast and food was alright, a tad salty for our liking! That said the service was really good, the manager tried to squeeze us into the booking despite our booking not having gone through!

We came in for a dinner this afternoon. There was an issue with our order, as it took a very long time. After waiting around 45 minutes we mentioned it to the waiter called Kasim (not the gentleman we originally ordered with). Within minutes it turned up, with a big warm smile and an apology for the issues. He looked after us soo well. The food was very nice but the service made the experience. We hope to come again soon! Hopefully with no issues this time.

They put a compulsory charity charge on the bill, then charge you service charge on it. Super shady.

On a busy night, food might not be served as quickly as you'd prefer but once you tasted the food you'd find that they're worth the wait ! Be prepared to save up and spend! Definitely recommend the steak, the lamb, the pork belly, the famous scotch egg.

Sunday roast food was overpriced and mediocre. Rude and/or inattentive waitstaff to the point where we had to go order drinks from the bar. Hard pass.

All the staff from the meet and greet, waiters, drinks experts etc all fabulous. Great menu full of flavour and tastes. Food cooked well.

We had the Sunday roast with the Chicken (for 2 people) and one beef. Very delicious and I think the best is the vegetables. The portion is huge. Beef is good. The potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding are more crispy type. Scotch eggs are good too. It’s a very popular place, better to reserve early. We walked in and can only sat at the outdoor tables, which is okay as the weather was not bad. Nice place for trying Sunday roast.

A very popular spot for Sunday lunch. The normal roast meats (I chose beef) plus one veggie option. Plenty of vegetables to go with it. Good selection of starters and we were too full for desserts. Efficient service.

Food was great but the service could be improve. We didn't get one of our order (a server told my friend she said she wanted to had it canceled but I think there was a miscommunication) which is fine, but after assuring us it wouldn't included in the bill... It was in the bill lol

I was really looking forward to eating here and had heard good things, but I have to say that overall I was quite disappointed. The food was quite bland and overpriced. Beef tartare didn't have a lot of flavour, the tomatoes in the crab starter had no flavour, the scotch egg was nice. The beef and chicken roasts were both a bit overcooked and dry, and didn't taste of much. Gravy was also bland. Roast potatoes and veg were ok. Sticky toffee pudding was ok but presentation wasn't great. None of the food was moreish. Staff was friendly and attentive. Service was slow and there was a long wait in between courses.

Great gastro pub in superb location. Just off the buzzing upper street, this pub feels more neighbourhood than in the mix but popular despite being further away from the high street. It’s so lovely and serves excellent dishes like wellington, slabs of steaks, seasonal fare and delicious wines. Definitely a good weekend lunch or weekday dinner option.

Quite surprising, in a really disappointed way. We’ve been there for sunday roasts for 4, so we had a chance to taste both angus and chicken. Readers, friends, donot even think chicken once please, I mean it! Havent had such a below-mediocre experience as sunday roast never ever! Angus was bearable, nothing special (i would have said worse things given price tag, let’s set aside price). So if you wanna visit a well-known, historic place, be my guest and do it, but donot complain after that, money is not for meal, it’s surely for the name. Otherwise just pass The Pig&Butcher option, it may be decent in ancient times, but believe me, not anymore. Silver lining was staff, there were all polite and positive, thank you, always appreciated.

Food always reliable though has definitely gotten smaller over the years but as expected. Roast on Sunday occasionally comes out cold. Avoid being upstairs the service is horrible up there due to only one server.

I visited there for Sunday roast. Although I booked and arrived on time, it seemed over booking and we waited for 15mins to have seats. They served a small dish as a compliment, which was good but something GiftTree was charged... Regarding food, we ordered beef and chicken roast! Taste was amazing!! I hope the service will be improved when I visit next time. It's a bit shame for service because food is awesome! still recommend to book in advance

After many years, it does not fail, we always have a wonderful dinner, honest cuisine well made with foundation and without nonsense, optimal quality/price ratio, relaxed atmosphere, friendly and cordial service.

I had such a great time with my friends. The food was great, the ambiance of the restaurant was so relaxing. Our server, Marketa, was so sweet and lovely. She was so patient and welcoming to our little group :)

I’m rating 4 star for food but I’d like to clarify that it is only for the 1 dish I had. The cod and potatoes (lunch) was good. The dessert was good too. The restaurant’s interior is beautiful and has a really nice atmosphere. When I visited at lunch it was quiet- a calm, peaceful vibe. The service was great. The staff were friendly and smiley. I would visit it again to try more food.

I’ve come here a few times, mostly for the Sunday roast, this time tried out the regular menu. I highly recommend this place, it’s perfect for some elevated pub food. This time we were served by Marketa and she’s an angel. Great service, super friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

Had an absolutely delicious dinner with some friends. Our server, Marketa, was so sweet and very attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. Another table in the restaurant was rude and loud, and then walked out without paying. Marketa handled the entire situation with grace even though it was not her fault and the table was being awful to both her and the other staff members.

Had a wonderful dinner here with some friends! The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great for a casual night. Our server, Marketa, was excellent even though she was dealing with a rude table next to ours that was abusing the staff and left without paying. Will definitely be back to try the Sunday Roast!

My daughter and I showed up without a booking (and with a dog in tow) to see if we could have a late Sunday roast lunch. When I saw the line I thought it would be impossible. Still I thought to ask the young woman at door and she could not have been nicer and accommodating. We were seated at one of their outdoor tables within 20 minutes, waited on by an another super friendly young woman and served a delicious meal with awesome drinks. Highly recommend a visit to this great pub.

Very disappointed in this place , heard such good things. Took a while to sit at the table even though we had booked. Beef was very tuff and dry , small portions for such a big price tag- I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone. Service was very slow and 1 lady was doing all the run around everyone else was very slow

Perfect place we choose to celebrate my Birthday. Came on late Saturday night. Food was absolutely phenomenal. Service was top notch. Manager was kind enough to put a candle on my dessert.

Absolute rip off. You should never feel hungry or mugged off by the price of the place but this is exactly how all six of us felt. The mains felt like a starter. Do not go if you have even a modest appetite. Save your money for elsewhere

Incredible all round! Especially for gluten free! We ate here for a birthday celebration, we shared a lot of the starters and because I’m coeliac I usually find it really hard to share plates but the staff here were SO helpful, they explained everything on the menu and how it could be adapted, there was practically nothing out of bounds for me which is so rare! The food itself was outstanding, such a refreshing menu, some really interesting and indulgent plates as well as the classics! The service from our waiters and waitress made our meal extra special, they were a very friendly team with all fun personalities and very helpful making us special cocktails and making sure we had everything we need and gave me reassurance that each meal for me was gluten free. Really above and beyond, couldn’t recommend more!

Lovely spot for a good sunday roast in Islington. My family and I had the sirloin and the pork belly and they all came with yorkshire pudding and an array of vegetables and finished with gravy although the potatoes for the roast were a little bit hard... My only point of contention is I wish they gave more gravy! We had to ask for more which they kindly obliged. I don’t know about you but i personally like my Sunday Roasts dripping in gravy! Overall, a nice spot to do your sunday roast. Scotch Eggs were lovely but a tad bit too salty. Cauliflower cheese was a separate item which had to be ordered off the menu ( nothing too spectacular but still good ). The pea soup with chilli oil was quite wonderful! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Beautiful roast dinner although half a carrot and sparsnip is a bit light as vegetable. Very nice and welcoming staff. Great service. On minus side, very noisy inside at time difficult to held a conversation at our own table.

We had spent Saturday at the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival at Business Design Centre (10/10 event) and were looking for somewhere for an early dinner. We had been to Bellanger Bistro for coffee in the morning and it looked like a really top place for dinner; however I foolishly went on line to look for good places for dinner and the Pig & Butcher popped up. Only a 5min walk from BDC it was quite empty when we arrived at 18.10hr, no one on door to greet us so we bumbled in and asked a passing waitress if they were still serving food - she said "yes, I think so". Great! We looked at the wine list and minimum £16 for a 125ml glass wine, NO THANKS! That's £96 per bottle!! so we opted to drink beer which I would not have chosen, as others have said, the wine prices are extortionate! Apparently from "family-owned vineyards only" but certainly not family-friendly prices! We live on South coast England with many fine wine estates, Ridgeview, Chapel Down, Ashurst, Albourne, Bolney etc etc and a glass of wine at one of these is not £16! Only wanted mains at we had had so many free samples at the NGTF exhibition; husband's steak was fantastic! 50 day aged rump cooked to perfection (rare) and chips and green beans very good. I ordered the chicken dish - Sutton Hoo chicken with onion sauce and chargrilled Hispi cabbage, ordered a side of truffle cream infused new potatoes. Chicken well cooked (perhaps a tad dry), new potatoes stone cold! Tried to cut one and it bounced around the plate - sent them back and a new, warmer (not hot) dish of potatoes arrived, nice flavour. We shared a cheeseboard of three cheeses and crackers and we lashed out on two glasses port (£8 each, I think,reasonable price). Celery on cheeseboard extremely stringy which we peeled off and left on the board but no comment from waitress when she cleared table. Throughout the meal there was very little interaction with the waitresses. Paid and left and went to another pub for a glass of wine

A unique dining experience, English cuisine found only here in London with decades of traditional authentic English menu

This is one of my favourite gastro pubs in London. Have been there three times, not disappointed once. This time I ordered their signature pig dish again. I was happy with the quality. The only slight snug is perhaps presentation. Lamb was also very good. Service was just simply delightful. All the waiters were so genuinely helpful & all smiles.

Loved the main (marmite beef was delicious), less the starter (crab). Good vibes and great service. Recommended.

Bad experience. Asked for two glasses viognier, came back 10 minutes later saying they didn't have any, wife ordered unknown wine from the 'by the glass' menu. Some undrinkable dessert wine arrived, tasted corked, but apparently it's supposed to taste that rancid. Didn't touch a drop and tried to avoid the smell. Bill for 80 quid arrived covering in addition 2 scotch eggs and some chicken and chips for the kid. Apparently 20 quid per glass is acceptable even if you can't stand what they give you. Left feeling really ripped off and still fancying something to drink.

Was very excited to eat here and the lamb roast was good but I felt that the portion size was small and overall it was quite expensive. Worth trying though and lovely spot for a drink.

A bustling dining area in this gastro pub. The food comes out in a timely manner and is of a high quality. The service is excellent. Staff are attentive to your needs.

Wonderful family dinner in charming neighborhood. Service was top notch as they were able to accommodate our large family on a busy summer evening. Shout out to Marketa and Imogen for the wonderful service. Everyone enjoyed their meals and food was cooked to perfection.

A nice neighborhood gastropub. The atmosphere of the place is pleasant with its traditional historic pub feel, the decoration of which is enhanced by the cornices with scrollwork patterns. The latter recall the old side but that does not mean that the pub shuns more modern influences - there is a very "Scandi" aspect in the subtle arrangement of the shelves placed in front of the wall mirror at the back of the room. Candles produce a soft, warm light that contributes well to the overall aesthetic in the evening. The “scotch egg” is very well executed with its runny yolk. The little foamy mustard-mayonnaise accompanies it perfectly. The same went for the “mains”: the braised leg of lamb and the neck, served with a celery puree, an emulsion of smoked eggplant and red pepper as well as the rump steak matured for 45 days in a green pepper sauce and home fries. The presentation of my plate of leg of lamb was particularly neat: the greenish coulis mixed with the meat juice almost gives the impression of looking into a forest lake (without going into hyperbole of course!). The desserts, raspberry cheesecake and sorbet and the “sticky toffee pudding” with its Madagascar vanilla ice cream, without being overwhelming, bring a delicate touch of sweetness to finish the meal in style. In short, we had a good time at The Pig & Butcher.

Sadly things have gone steadily downhill since I first came here 9years back. Prices are up, service has slowed and borderline rude , food quality is still down additionally leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you pay so much money for a few pieces of potatoes and cauliflower… 2 sides, a scotch egg and 2 drinks = £45 everyone… coupled with inattentive staff, it’s laughable.

Beautiful area. Friendly welcome. Quality service. Varied dishes: cheese croquettes (cheese croquettes) - scotch eggs (hard-boiled eggs on a sausage base) - scallop & black pudding (scallops with black pudding) - bresaola (charcuterie) - market fish (turbo grilled) - 45 day aged beef rump - sticky toffee pudding (soft chocolate caramel) - strawberry pavlova ... all with a little red rioja! Meal at 75 pounds / person without wine. If you are in London go there! 👍

I had a wonderful Rehearsal Dinner for 15 at the Pig and Butcher. The private room upstairs was beautiful and the Feasting Menu did not disappoint.
