The place is great but it's a bit dark for my dad he can't see what he's eating, we go there for Xmas but it's putting him off.

Great experience overall. Service friendly and not bothered about responding all our answers. It’s a plus that all food is homemade - and definitely you can tell. Homemade soup (we had lentil soup) was very tasty and filling. Non greasy or overcooked. Just perfect. Second dish was the steak sandwich. We were surprised in the good way as we were expecting fine fillets of meat in a square typical sandwich bread, instead we received this yummy panini with a perfect seasoned and medium cooked steak. Great menu for a pre-boat trip in Balloch. Will come back!

Very disappointed, we were here last year and our meal was amazing. So we were all looking forward to a wonderful meal . But there was no comparison too last year 😕 We can't believe we were in the same restaurant. No cutlery on table , Food poor . Service OK. Don't think we will return .

Good wholesome food , we had the beef and haggis pie , glazed veg and thick chips , started with lentil soup and ciabatta bread , team were lovely.

Really really good. It's not just about eating like the other restaurants on the street. The food is excellent in taste and also very well presented.

We stopped in here today on a spontaneous trip to Balloch. We stood at the bar for 5 minutes and weren’t acknowledged by the, at times, 4 staff behind the bar. Not a single point of eye contact or anything. Not a word. We’ve come across the road to eat and you lost our business. Forever. Basic, basic hospitality is free and effective. Even when busy, an ‘I’ll be right with you.’, would have kept us there. Very poor service.

Having been here for lunch before, we were so disappointed by the poor service and quality of our dinner last night. The cocktails were bland and made from pre-made pouch purée. The chicken, when it eventually arrived was dry, sitting on a bed of canned sweetcorn, over salted gravy of some kind and a hard potato gratin with a strange cheesy aftertaste. The leek mentioned in the menu was a spring onion that was full of dirt inside! Unfortunately we made the mistake of sitting outside meaning we paid first, a mistake we won’t make again. Such a shame that local people can find reliable places to go and eat decent food without being overcharged for poor quality food and service .

We went here for an early dinner one night. It's a very busy restaurant so would recommend booking if you want to go on a weekend or at peak dinner time. So glad we managed to get a table though as the food is nothing short of incredible. Don't give this place a miss!!

5* to the staff who did an excellent job , but just not enough of them to cope with the demand.

Best bit about this bar is the beer garden for people watching, food is mainly generic bar food but sadly no vegetarian options.

Be careful what time you go here if you’re a walk-in. No idea what the system is but we tried to visit one night at 8:10pm and were told the kitchen was closed and we wouldn’t be able to order food. Tried again the next night (as we were staying in the area for a few days and the ratings were so good for this place). Phoned at 7pm to see about a table after the previous disappointment but no one answered. Walked down anyway but this time at 7:20pm and were told they weren’t accepting any more tables even though it was half empty and based on the previous night, kitchen closes around 8pm? No explanation as to why, seemed like a perfectly normal time for dinner and I’ve never known a place to close for dinner so early. They need to add kitchen hours onto their opening hours or something because I really couldn’t tell you what their deal is

Arrived at The Pier for dinner about 4.50. We were seated and told the kitchen didn't open until 5pm. Our drinks order took a while to arrive. We ordered the burger and fish and chips. The burger was large and served with haggis, onion ring and fries. My husband gave it 10/10. The fish was delicious with crisp batter, peas, home made tartar sauce and chunky chips. Huge portion but I couldn't stop eating it. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding and berry tart. Both were very tasty. We would definitely dine there again. The only downsides was the service. Although there was plenty staff they were not very attentive and had to be asked to take our empty plates away and bring the dessert menu. Overall the food is what we would return for.

Cute restaurant with super nice staff and a great atmosphere. The food was good and quick to come out. I had the soup of the day and the fish and chips. Everything was fresh and came out fast.

Chicken was over cooked, waiting staff were a bit forgetful and were confused when we asked about the dishes on their menu. Didn’t ask us how our meal was (we left most of it to be fair). Food had some great potential but overall was lacking on execution and taste. Chips were good though - when are they not?

Très bon restaurant idéalement situé dans cette ville. L’accueil est très sympathique et vous met tout de suite à l’aise. Les prix pratiqués sont assez élevés mais très raisonnables vu la qualité des plats: je recommande le poulet suprême cajun, l’excellent fish’n’chips ainsi que le Burger. En dessert n’hésitez pas à prendre le cheesacake. Seul petit bémol c’est la qualité du menu kids, il est trop fade à mon goût (burger notamment).

Went here twice this week and were met by a lovely lady Kelly I think her name was , the service was good and food was very good and we all had a lovely time. There was only one member of staff that was a bit abrupt and not very nice and needs more training. Will go back again.

Don't know about the others but the fish and chips were amazing! The fish was warm and crunchy, and the batter was not too thick. The chips and mushy peas felt like they were homemade! Devoured the whole thing❤️

not a place I would go again, food wasn't what I expected i ordered a ceasar salad and to me that has chicken and bacon in it, what i got was a very expensive lettuce with too much dressing and croutons which would make me need to pay for dental work, expensive for what you get. made to feel unwelcome towards end of meal with staff hovering around collecting glasses and trying to take wine bottle with wine in it still and then turn music off.

Four of us visited on a Tuesday at 6pm. Thankfully we had booked because they were turning people away as it was fully booked. It was the first time at the Pier for all of us. The decor was nice and welcoming. Smart but casual atmosphere. They were very busy and staff did appear a bit run off their feet but can't fault the service we had and it didn't detract from our visit. We shared fried pickles, Korean chicken wings and the fish tacos to start. Everything was cooked beautifully and flavors were great although we were divided on whether or not the slaw on the fish tacos was needed. Two felt it would have been better with just the pineapple salsa and avocado and two liked the addition of the slaw. For mains we ordered one beef burger, one chicken burger (no bun) and two of the curry specials, a chicken, sweet potato & chickpea curry. Everyone enjoyed what they had and I can honestly say it was one of the best curries I've ever had. The only negative was that we would have loved to take some home as we were full half way through but there were no "doggie bags" available. I'm glad we tried the Pier and as it's relatively local we'll definitely be back.

Excellent food and service. Three of us went for the small plates to share, the food was very tasty and fresh. The girls serving us were friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back again.

The food was generally nice, unfortunately for us two things let this place down. The first being the kids meal had loads of salt on, the second it is not waiter service and you have to pay every time you order something, which meant we couldn’t be bothered with further drinks and dessert.

The pier is one of my favourite places to eat, however the customer service let us down today. Unfriendly, lengthy welcome. Had to ask for bill, never got asked if our food was ok, if we wanted any more drinks, desserts etc Good customer service costs nothing, restaurant was very quiet so no excuses. Food was good.

Went in on a Saturday lunchtime to be told that there was no food being served due to a private function Ordered drinks and crisps (they dont sell crisps). Got advised to go to the shop across the street to purchase crisps and bring them back!

Absolutely fantastic meal....my partner said said best chicken and leak pie he has ever tasted so a great big well done to the chef...great service very friendly...defo recommend this place ..thank you for a good evening.

Could have been good, the mains were actually good, and the ambiance was good as well. A shame that after more than 30 minutes waiting after finishing our mains and our plates removed we still hadn’t seen the dessert menu.

One of many restaurants in Balloch, the Pier is quite small and seems to have only 3 car parking spaces immediately outside (with parking restrictions adjacent). They have inside and outside seating but probably could cater for less than 80 people in total. Inside it’s not ultra modern but the seating is comfortable and the tables are sufficiently far apart as to not feel overly cramped. The staff were all friendly enough without being effusive (the right balance for me). The menu isn’t huge either. However the food was very good. I had Mac and cheese which was excellent- I rarely eat this outside because it’s rarely done right. My brothers both had the fish and chips which they said was good and certainly appeared to have more fish than batter (which isn’t always the case sadly). We all had a soft drink. The dessert menu was pretty limited too so we stuck with just one course and a soft drink each. The bill was £53 which was ok for the quality of the food.

This is a favourite pit stop while out cycling. Friendly staff, good food and a nice outside seating area. The Mac & Cheese is the best I’ve had in a long time! Would definitely recommend a visit!

Stopped in this little town after our tour of Loch Lohmond. We checked out the other restaurants in the area before deciding on The Pier. We only had an hour before our bus was leaving so time was an issue. Took awhile for us to get menus and had to ask for them. And then took another 10 minutes before we could order. I ordered the barbacoa beef tacos and my wife ordered the chorizo braised beef. Both were very good. Nice meal but service could have been better.

Waited over 45 minutes for our food. Had to cancel and leave hungry. Asked the person at the bar where our food was, he said the kitchen "hadn't received the order", despite him putting it through the till and charging me for it. Had to cancel and get a refund. Drinks were nice but we won't be back.

Cosy place, nicely furbished. I like the combination of the deep sea blue and tartan chairs. The kitchen is excelent. We shared several sea food starters as tapas. All the meals were very lovely.

Disappointed in the food as I’ve heard great reviews. Went for a Christmas catch up with friends and Christmas turkey dinner was very average. Didn’t taste home cooked at all. Haggis Bon bons were ok but too much sauce. Overpriced for what I got. Staff were excellent though!

One of the best food I ever tasted and geat people !

I was honestly quite disappointed. The service was pretty poor. Place was quite quiet and we were left at the door for 5+ mins. The root veg I had wasn't cooked. My friend had salt and chilly chips covered in what looked like loads of balsamic vinegar but smelled really weird. Anyway, soggy chips :( might have been a one off or maybe someone was unexpectedly off but still disappointing.

Dropped by for a quick lunch while visiting Loch Lomond. A pleasant place in Balloch (with a clean and nice toilet). Food was pretty good and great service by friendly staff! Cocktails were lovely and would be great for someone who doesn’t like the strong taste of alcohol.

We had a lovely time at The Peir on Saturday for my birthday. The food was fantastic. Special thanks to Des & Hammy (Alison) who made the day perfect 🥰

Great food and fantastic service, reservation recommended. Very deserving of the high review score. We ate here after having been let down by The Boathouse at Cameron House, and in retrospect we had a much better meal as a result. We made a last minute reservation, and when we arrived they'd had such a busy service that they hadn't noticed the reservation come through on the system and were short on tables. But with a bit of creativity and furniture arrangement they pulled together a table for us. The food was excellent gastropub fare, tacos, pakora and hummus for starters were all superb, and the fish and chips and caeser salad for mains were the best we've had in a while. The service was fantastic, and for the quality of the food the price was very reasonable. While we were there we watched them turn away probably a dozen walk-ins because they were too busy, and I'm not surprised, the place is fantastic. Would definitely eat here again, and would definitely reserve ahead of time.

We came here on our last night of our Honeymoon in Scotland and we were not disappointed. The staff were super friendly and even though it was really busy were attentive and had time for a chat. We chose from the Tapas style menu and ordered 7 dishes between us. The presentation and the quality of the food was excellent, even though we'd ordered too much and had to leave some...not even enough room for dessert. Keep up the good work and if we're ever around the area again we'll definitely call in.

Great fish and chips, not the cheapest but I'd say worth it for the quality. We also tried the lamb shwarma small plate and Prawn bruscetta which were great. My partner had the sirloin beef roast which had a generous portion and was really tasty. We ordered the popcorn chicken for my son however it was a little dry so he wouldnt eat it. Our server took this off the bill without hesitation.

£2.95 for a scoop of ice cream settled for cappuccino, a weak cappuccino just to increase profit from the tourists. Overpriced for sure,better at Blue lagoon ha ha ha.

Yes had a great time the staff were very friendly and very nice meal had four cheese macaroni with haggis bliss.

We were debating where to go for an evening meal during our stay in Balloch. Based on the positive reviews we came here for dinner 3/8/22. Our server was friendly and attentive, the jug of water was a nice touch and we didn't have to wait long for either drink of food. I had fish and chips whilst the husband had the haggis burger. Both mains were great. Fish was cooked perfectly and I tried some of my husbands burger which was delicious! Probably the best burger I have tasted! For the quality of food and drinks, the presentation and the friendly service: it exceeded our expectations. So much so that we will probably come tomorrow... As I really wanted to try dessert but I was too full. We have spent a week travelling around Scotland and so far this has been our favourite meal.
