Highly recommend the cod and chips two pieces of fish and the steak pie and burger suppers

The chippy boat is a cool place to eat. Kids meal deal is great value for money. Good portion sizes and friendly staff.

Always passed by before without visiting so as we had some time today we decided to come for a late lunch and had great service by Archie

Another fantastic Catch of The Day - Fish Tea,, the service was wonderful the young man couldn't be more helpful and is an asset to your staff. We have tried fish teas in other restaurants and there is no comparison to McMonagles, we are never disappointed, the key being beautiful fresh fish..Thank You for another lovely lunch.

Loved it, the food was excellent and plentiful although at the end of the day it was a fish and chip place but cooked well.Myself and my mate mate had the catch of the day,large fish with chips/peas/beans/coleslaw ,started with the prawn cocktail very cool and plenty of .The young waiter was very pleasant and efficient Will be back

I went to this 'Board Chippie' as my grandson aged 3 called it with my daughter, grandson and granddaughter (9 months). It was a nostalgic visit for us. When my daughter was very young (30 years ago) her gran would take her there occasionally for chips and ice cream when she was shopping in Clydebank. She had told my grandson the dory and he asked to see it. We visited on 19th March about noon. The restaurant is immaculate. There are stairs and a lift to take you into the main eating place. The takeaway section is on the ground level. We headed upstairs and immediately my grandson's attention was grabbed by the fish tank. The lady in charge took us to a table with space for the pram at the side without disturbing any other diners. My grandson was delighted to be given a menu with pictures and crayons to play with. The staff weee just lovely. Attentive (without being obtrusive) and friendly towards the children. We had a lovely lunch. Of course my grandson wanted chips (well he was in a chippie boat after all). My daughter had Haddock and chips which came with bread and butter and I had the Senior Haddock which came with tea/coffee and bread and butter. The portions were very generous . My daughter had 2 large fish on her plate and a large portion of chips. I had one fish and lots of chips all freshly made. A perfect portion for me. The batter was crispy and everything was just delicious. Having this at lunchtime was not usual for us but it was such a treat. The bill came to £30 which included soft drinks for my daughter and grandson as well as a buttered roll. Excellent value. My grandson loved the fact that he was on a 'boat' but did ask questions as to why it didn't move. lol There is a toilet and baby changing facility on the same level as the restaurant and toilets downstairs. There is also a seating area outside on the grass with picnic tables. Will be lovely in the summer weather. I can heartily recommend McMonagles: the staff are friendly and efficient. Shocking atmosphere almost made me and my family feel unwanted in there the little old lady who says she is the boss couldn’t run a bath never mind a chippy and also the way they spoke to the staff and treated them during my visit was disgusting I wouldn’t recommend even working here nevermind eating out of the place

Really tasty fish suppers including the gluten free! It maybe feels a little dated inside but the food and staff easily overcome it - both really are great.

Food was absolutely vile. Staff are rude and ignorant. Prices are too expensive. The interior of the ‘restaurant’ is tacky.

Great chippie, good portions and the prices of the food are reasonable. The staff are friendly and cheery. The takeaway is always clean and bright. You don't need to wait long on your order, except when you are getting it delivered, which can take a while. Can't comment on the restaurant area as we haven't been to it for a long time. We would recommend McMonagles to all.

We went for an impromptu fish tea in the McMonagles boat . The most delicious fish &chips I have ever eaten by far. Crisp batter with big flakey fish steamed in the batter to perfection. Delicious chips , a pot of mushy peas and a jug of curry sauce. I had fish of the day and the portion was enormous. Staff are all lovely . Take time to read about the boat at your table , the owner will happily chat to you about their venture of having her built for them. Great wee place to eat

Visited 4th Jan for takeaway fish and chips, it's always amazing quality!!!! 😋👌, and today the same!!! Staff at counter lovely, polite and friendly, asked for a slice of lemon, absolutely no problem. Thankyou all. 😊

Was absolutely disappointed as was told would take 1 hour who was fine about but was nearly 2 hours and chips where undercooked and the fish did not have a crispy batter which I love really disappointed

I ordered a pizza crunch from the boat as they've been the same for years and I got my pizza and it was just packet pizza low quality rubbish similar to a chippy van disappointing will not be back

Best chippy in clydebank by far. Always lovely. Outdoor tables are a big bonus in the summer too. You can get kids meals, ice blasts and puddings too!

Way too expensive. In 2 years its went from 10 pounds, to 13 pounds, to a staggering 15.25 for the catch of the day, that's just sheer greed and a rip off, in Blackpool you get the same and haddock for 5.95, plus less chips now as well at Mcmonagles, I'm not short of money but I simply refuse sheer greed and being ripped off, after many years myself and friends I recommended this place to from Upnorth will simply not be back

I come from Clydebank and used to take my mum and children here so after reading about the awards won I arranged lunch with a few "old" cronies. We had the "OAP Specials" with free tea and we were left in peace to talk all afternoon as we had a lot of reminiscing to do. Food was absolutely delicious and staff were lovely! If you are in the area this coming Monday 28th they are having a buy one get one free!!

No bad. Bit over priced for what ye get but no bad. No fault of the staff (I hope) but I had a wee stone in one of my chips. Nearly cracked my tooth.

OMG this place gas been nominated for awards? Who are they comparing it with? I would hate to eat from any other places if this place is considrered award winning This is the worst take away I have ever had. Chips undercooked , tastless had to put a bucket of salt on them to eat them, terrible! Even the dog wouldnt eat them. Fish ok ish. Mince pie was a scotch pie - sorry am i getting mixed up a mince pie is usually a mince beef pie? Horrible I have just come back to Glasgow after living in the South of England where you get a very good take away. Send your award board there to conpare

The food was decent cooked fresh in front of us the staff were absolutely amazing. Went above and beyond to help my partner and her assistance dog and even had time for a chat will definitely be back

best place for fish and chips in clydebank, there is need of a little bit improvement like cleaning and all the just eat bag needs to be cleaned and place it somewhere. Not on the top where they prepare the food.

This is broadly a really good takeaway (appreciate you can dine in but I've never had the notion to). There's oodles of parking and a visit is a novelty as it's built on the canal to resemble a boat. The menu is extensive (inc gluten free) but it's a treat because it is quite expensive (like everything these days). The cod is amazing and I wouldn't buy it anywhere else. No bones at all which is my fear with eating fish. Delivery, if you choose it, is good but can take time (90 mins sometimes) and its quite costly. My only tiny gripe is they never season your order when it's home delivery.

First time been in a while, slightly more expensive ( but so is everywhere). Only disappointment was didn't offer the 2 course set lunch ( was my favourite before). Staff lovely n friendly.

Food was absolutely scrumptious, service was so good and the atmosphere was so superb except for some boys outside blowing up condoms? I'm not sure if that's part of the culture or McMonagles and part of the history. I will have to ask.

Don't answer their phones when they screw up an order. Service abominal, food hit or a miss depending on who is frying. It's Clydebank, with Clydebank attitudes, don't expect anything more or as nice as you'd get almost anywhere else in Scotland.

Big portions. Great batter. Well fried fish. We come here about twice a year to sit in. Brought a friend from Poland this time. He loved it. Service is fine but the food is excellent. Just a great treat.

My wife and daughter in law took the 3 kids for lunch only to end up in disappoint. The fish and chips were dried up and uneatable staff were non attentive and couldn’t be bothered, had to ask twice for the plates to be removed and the kids ice cream to come as they were getting bored by the amount of time they had to sit, the staff obviously don’t care about there jobs at the reputation of the restaurant

Been many times and it's always been decent but this time when I asked for halal as I usually do, the girl said they're waiting on fresh fish but only took ten mins. Always ask for extra salt and vinegar and this time it was bang on. The fish was light and crispy, full of flavour and not drenched in oil. Chips were much better than usual too. Hope it's like this every time!

Still good food although the portion sizes have shrunk over the years and you're now looking at almost a tenner for a fish supper. It's starting to look a bit dilapidated, the good ship Debra Rose could do with a bit of sprucing up. Staff at the counter are friendly and efficient.

The 3 waiting staff where all lovely & attentive. Service with a smile & wee bit of banter from the young lad! Place was spotlessly clean. Haddock was cooked to perfection, nice colour plenty of crisp & bubbly batter & 2 slices so good portions. The steak pie had a delicious rich greavy with plenty of beef chunks, pot of peas & large serving of chips. Again nice colour on the pastry lid & cook thoroughly right through no mushy undercooked layers on the bottom. The Cod was a large thick meaty steak with the same golden brown bubbly batter & not a bone in the whole steak. We all ate well & where defeited by the portion sizes.

Wont be back they refused to do my fritters because they said theyr too busy... Tried called before going but phone was constantly engaged yet didnt ring once while was in the shop which is telling me they take the phone off the hookand got butt hurt because i cancelled the rest of my order because i couldnt get the fritters

Good chips but the gravy was sadly very dissappointing after being told by my friend mr Robbie hunter that it was apparently “world class”

Food lovely only criticism would be the fresh orange and apple juice taste like water like really watered down thought last time must of been the ice got without ice this time was still watery tasting defo need get better quality juice , foods always been good and big portions but a wouldn’t buy juice there again

Popped in for the first time after seeing the boat a few times, firstly the warm welcome as we came in was great. We quickly got seated and ordered. I had the catch of the day which was fantastic, chips were good and mushy peas were nice but the fish.......oh baby, juicy chunks by the forkful, a nice amount of batter on it, no void space or chunks of batter instead of fish. This was an excellent serving and tops my current list of favourites. My girlfriend had the chicken Balmoral and it was also very nicely done, I sampled a bit of the chicken and it was delicious. I highly recommend anyone to come try the boat chippy, service is excellent and it is very clean and the food is excellent. I will definetly be back and I'll be recommending others to go too. 👌👍😁

Went with daughter and grandson first I've been back in years Fish was small and greasy chips were black and young girl attending us was nice . The other members of staff working where very of putting one walking about chewing gum whilst serving just a one of certainly wouldn't go back to sit it

Always a good meal from McMonagles! Home made steak pie for the win and chips cheese & curry was perfect. Pretty gutted that there was only zero sugar ice blasts but seems to be the same everywhere now. Always my fave!

Myself and partner decided to come here for our lunch. We sat in the restaurant upstairs, it’s a nice little place however could be renovated to create a cosy vibe. We are aware this is a fake ship. The food was nice we would rate it a 7/10. Our starter did get lost and we had to wait on it too.

Overpriced food. Uncooked chips, pizza use to be very good, not any more. Disappointed on my last visit again.
