ABSOLUTELY beautiful, GORGEOUS food (I'm NOT a vegetarian)!!!! But I opted for the broccoli n stilton pie as it just sounded yummmmmmy...I and My Family were not dissapointed...Food was out of this world,Quaint little pub on the outside, but inside it was packed, byt everyone was seen to and served very quickly..excellent service, The staff were very friendly, I tripped and cut my head as I was going to the toilet(NO NOT DRUNK), The Bar Lady,came over quickly,gave me some ice in a towel,which helped stop the swelling..she could not of done anything more to help,she aaid she had to put it in the accident book,I said I was only visiting and didn't live around here ,she said NO its got to be written in the accident book. I cannot Thank the staff enough for a really beautiful evening.. FOOD 100% SERVICE 100% ATMOSPHERE 100% FRIENDLESS 100% THIS IS A PUB THAT, WHEN WE VISIT MY BROTHER IN LAWS HOUSE AGAIN, WILL BE THE PLACE WE ALL GO BACK TOO Thank You

I've been looking for a decent pie place for ages and think this is it. It's a nice, warm, traditional pub that serves excellent food. The service was decent and we will 100% be going back

Just went for drinks and meeting with friends, a great time was had by all. A great place.

This is a great local pub which is very deceiving from the outside. It has plenty of space and a beer garden at the back with plenty of seating. The pie society menu is absolutely amazing and changes every so often, with specials being available, which are equally delicious! Being a northern boy I know a good pie when I see one and these are top quality with fillings from base to brim, and a choice of the most delicious mashes and gravies! They will not disappoint. If you get a chance to get to the quiz night on a Wednesday you must go - it's good fun and a really great way to break up the week.

Who ate all the pies? We gave it a go ....!! Recommended

Great meal, with a good atmosphere

We had an excellent meal here on Friday 22nd December. The food was fantastic and the service provided by the staff was second to none. We were all made very welcome including the two smallest members of our party (9 months and 5 years old).

First time eating and definitely visiting again. Food and service was excellent.

Always have fantastic food here, never been let down! Excellent prices, great choices every week, and superb service. UPDATE: Just wanted to come back to this review since it's been a while. The Pie Society is still incredible, absolutely love it 👍

Love it here! Pick a pie, a mash and a gravy. Nice pub very cosy. Also a great outdoor area which is dog friendly.

After a nightmare trying to get somewhere to eat, we stumbled across the plough. Great atmosphere, lovely food, and friendly staff

Always happy to have a pie here (good place if you don't fancy cooking dinner and also a great place to meet up with friends). Current choice of pies is excellent and the specials were good. The staff are always very pleasant and cheery but efficient and professional. Everything is always clean and well presented.

Regular Wednesday evening quiz is great fun and terrific atmosphere.... Rarely miss one! We don't eat every week, but occasionally we do and the food is amazing. Staff are great and Ed has done a fabulous job, both before, and since Covid, making it a friendly 'go to' venue. ..... Just GREAT!

The Christmas Dinner Pie ... Genuinely the best pie I have ever eaten! With cranberry and brie mash. Amazing food, friendly staff and a great quiz master.

I love pies 🥰. So when I saw this pub I just had to go in and eat (although to be fair it was time for dinner 😁). Gladly I wasn't disappointed. The Steak and Stilton pie was fantastic, as was the rest of the meal (chips, gravy, peas and a pint). Service and atmosphere were also great. I even left my scarf, ringing the next day and finding out that they had kept it for me. When I collected it in the evening they had neatly folded it for me too - nice little touches like this make all the difference. Thank you. 🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️

Had a lovely evening at the pie society. It was pub quiz night. I think the place was short staffed, but we didn't really notice. The service was excellent, the staff super friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

Loved this quaint, atmospheric restaurant. The food was fantastic - pies, mash and gravy. Sounds simple, but they do this brilliantly and with great style . Loved the bowler hat which reserved our table. Some lovely touches to make the meal special .

Not a great experience. Halfway through my son's meal he noticed that his chicken strips were undercooked. Whilst I understand accident's happen. I'm this day and age this is not a great mistake to make. We we're enjoying a rare father and son evening out and it was ruined by someone not doing their job. Very disappointed.

What a little gem choice of pies were very inventive but so enjoyable. Bit too far to travel on a regular basis for us but if ever passing will definitely return. Staff were friendly and helpful and the beer garden was very well done.

I ate here while visiting from Texas. I had the Steak and Stilton pie with Spicy Twist sauce. It was outstanding. Loved it.

Excellent meal, very friendly helpful staff

I'm a big pie appreciator, and of my many travels this is my favourite pie establishment. Nowhere else has there been such a selection of novel and interesting pies, as well as the genius idea of building your plate with options on various mashes and gravies, well in excess of what you would find anywhere else. The pies are keenly priced and for a small amount extra there's more choices still for vegetable side dishes. The hearty medley that is the roasted veg on its own goes above and beyond the typical offering that you might usually expect from other lesser restaurants. There's a good selection of starters as well, and all in ample portions. I get the sense that the chef is a proper foodie and prepares your meal to a standard as if they were making it for themselves or their family. The service was also warm, friendly and upbeat.

These pies are amazing... Went with friends who recommended it... Old cosy pub with friendly helpful staff... Only negative is that the seats are hard and small... But goes with the style /age of pub.... Would still recommend ❤️

Really nice place and great service. Would have given 5 star but the mash was unfortunately cold. We did mention to staff at end of meal and they would have been happy to resolve. I was able to warm it up with the gravy.

Exellent service last night, it was extremely busy and obviously the wait was longer than usual but the staff were so nice and polite and let us know exactly what was happening more than once. Food great too 👍👍

Fantastic customer service, we had a slight issue with one of our orders and it was addressed as soon as it was raised. The staff were incredibly polite, helpful and the way they handled this has definitely made me feel confident I would return or recommend them.

We dined here last night for the first time, despite living here for 20 years, and entertained my mother based on her previous excellent experience. We were not disappointed. Waiting staff made us feel very welcome, as if we were regulars, and the banter was a joy. Plus we are huge fans of all things 'Pie'. They have an excellent range of pies, mash and side dishes to be able to put together a proper hearty meal. And, joy of joys, 3 gluten free versions too! Beer and wine etc... accompanied our food, plus a couple of desserts and it came in at just over £20/head. The tip was well earned!

Lovely place, fantastic service! Only complaint was the pie menu missed out a few ingredients (e.g. leek in the chicken and mushroom) which unfortunately we don’t like. But the pies were still lovely and freshly cooked. Will definitely be back

Went there for my fiancées birthday Tuesday night. Food presentation, quality and value for money excellent. Wonderful twists on the recipes - pie and mash will never be the same again, and nor will the humble hash brown ! Warm welcome and great service throughout. Will return soon and highly recommend

Lovely homemade pies and gf pastry and gravy for our daughter too! A warm welcome and covid safe....clean comfortable homely pub. Definitely recommend! Even our dog was welcome and enjoyed attention and a big bowl of water. 🐶💙👍😋

Enjoyed a lovely lunchtime meal with great service, will definitely book to go again.

Had to leave my puppy at Towcester vets for a couple of hours so decided to have a meal locally as we live miles away. Walked into this pub for the first time ever and asked the landlord if they were doing food , he replied bluntly with no expression “6 o’clock” I asked if we could sit in the restaurant as it was only 5.20, he stared blankly and said as long as the table didn’t have reserved on it. My husband ordered a drink for us and there was not a change to the landlords face , very very unfriendly. I went to the bar and asked where the toilet was, he looked at me and with no word just pointed to a wall at the back of the restaurant!!! The toilets were behind this wall but there was no signs or anything. I felt very uncomfortable in this pub and will never return .

I eat at The Plough occasionally...the food is always excellent..Andy the chef or Ed the Landlord are always happy to talk about the menu and you realise how much care & attention goes into sourcing as well as preparing the food. I would recommend the pub to anyone but please don't book the entire restaurant when I want to eat here!!

Drinks were reasonably priced. Though the beer itself was overpriced considering how it was bad it was, they obviously don't clean their taps often enough. Staff have been extremely rude, I would say their attitude was totally give me your money and get out of here and I would honestly say that its one of the worst pubs Ive been too.

Staff and food where great, chef was saying how he likes to keep adding/changing dishes ie when we where there, there was mackerel fishcakes on the menu, but those would be changing to cod fish cakes the next week, little changes like that keep you interested

From the outside, it looked very busy. Inside was small and cosy, but with quite a few tables. Despite having no reservation, the staff managed to squeeze us in, and were very welcoming. After ordering, we waited a little while. However, it was understandable as they were busy. The food was definitely worth the wait. The black pudding stack was to die for, and the peppercorn sauce on it had a little kick. The Stilton mushrooms were very tasty and well cooked. The gammon steak was very tasty and the chips were crispy but soft inside. The only complaint we had was the portion size was a little big for us, but they would be fine for others with larger appetites. The atmosphere was very friendly and warm. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Overall, I would definitely recommend The Plough to people and will most likely eat here again.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food here, as did the rest of my family. Not many pubs have this quality! The staff were very welcoming and well mannered too.

Wow!! Was a fabulous lunch with friends. Nothing was to much trouble. I had hunters chicken, very tasty. 1st visit & made very welcome. Will Deffinatly be returning.
