We booked this venue in 2022 for our wedding reception/party due to be held 20th July 24. Messaged the venue last week only to be informed that they have no idea of our booking and that the events manager had been sacked as she was not recording bookings as she should have been. Apparently there was no record of our booking however the owners seemed to think we had booked the upstairs room so obviously some record even if incorrect. We had booked the downstairs room as upstairs was far too small for the number of guests. They say it can hold 200 however a year ago on Facebook they answered a query saying it could only hold 100. Apparently that was again the events managers fault. Owners have been very apologetic however apologies don't change the fact we now have no venue and can't change the date as we have booked a band, dj, magician, caterers etc... No idea what we will do given we have only 6 months before the event and everywhere is booked up. We will be out of pocket thats one thing we can be sure of. It's likely we will have to cancel the whole thing and accept the fact we have lost a lot of money. The owners offered us the room upstairs free of charge however it isn't big enough and nor do I want to see another party enjoying themselves in the room we booked and given the fact we would have had at least 130 spending money here, giving us a free room isn't really doing the venue any harm, quite the opposite. Anyone who has a booking here I would advise you double check it because you don't want to end up in our position. I don't like to leave bad reviews but what has happened to us is just not OK and actually an apology and blaming an ex employee for everything just doesn't make up for what has happened to us, our wedding party is ruined so sorry but I won't be recommending this venue to anyone.

Absolutely brilliant night at the Picture House Barnsley! Perfectly sized room and table lay out, quality bar service , separate food area… in house Dj was awesome.. he played every kind of music and had people up dancing all night. Bar staff we’re friendly and so helpful. Cannot fault this place would definitely recommend. Thankyou for providing a perfect Engagement party venue 😊

I found this really disappointing how my auntie had paid a lot of money for a rubbish venue when my auntie walked up the stairs the lady at the bar poured some Bucks Fizz but from the other 2 glasses on the side into another 2 glasses not even bothering to pour anymore… the buffet was a disgrace too the food was meant to be a mix of Indian things and warm food but no when it came it came up in washing baskets and cold none of us were happy… also the Bucks Fizz was right next to the orange juice and they looked identical and we saw a few kids drinking it because I wanted a taste of it and it wasent orange juice! NEVER again will I be going there absolutely diabolical

Absolutely disgusting! My auntie booked this venue for her wedding. I came with her to view the venue and find out what it included. The upstairs venue has a white dance floor, stools around the bar and decorations. The lady who dealt with us gave a list of things it included: bar open until midnight with stools around the bar, buzz fiz drink on arrival, centre pieces on tables, cake stand, sweet cart, fairy lights, flowers and fairy lights on the terrace, hot and cold buffet(hot buffet will be either Chinese or Indian). The day before the wedding we went to drop off a few bits at the venue, whilst at the venue there was still some decorations from a baby shower, these decorations were still left on the ceilings during the wedding day (completely different colour to the wedding theme). We had a cold buffet, of which arrived in laundry baskets, this cold buffet that cost “£300” was absolutely disgusting quality, tuna sandwich’s with standard tea cakes, own branded crisps, own branded small desserts, pizza that tasted like own brand. Just a typical kids party buffet and not to mention hot buffet never arrived even though she stated that it was included. The buffet was that bad that some guest actually brought greggs. Even though we paid for the bar to be opened until midnight, the guest got kicked out at 22:30. Not to forget, the newly weds got made to take their three tier wedding cake home with them THAT NIGHT, of which the cake was absolutely ruined in the taxi on way home. The cake could have easily been picked up the next morning. The tables were completely empty apart from a white sheet and the smalls bits we gave the venue. No centre pieces we requested. There was no stools around the bar all night. The white dance floor was never to be seen. There was no flowers or fairy lights on the terrace, kids were playing in near enough darkness. When brought to the attention of management we were made to feel guilty and almost criticised for even suggesting that they hadn’t for fulfilled their duty “are staff did everything they could to make your day special”. Whether the staff did their best or not is besides the point, the fact remains that they didn’t provide what was obviously paid for/promised. AVOID THIS VENUE, ALL COST!

Excellent place to book for a venue, really great room & friendly staff. Great for my 21st birthday last night. Highly recommend. Over all very happy.

We had our Wedding party at the picture house last night. Absolutely amazing staff and service, the staff (especially Ellie) were incredibly helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The venue looked amazing and everyone loved the quirky character. We dropped off all the decorations in the morning and the staff set up the room for us including everything we’d asked for (plus a few extras they thought we’d like 😁). The DJ was amazing and the dance floor was full all night. Everyone had a blast and it was a great night. We will definitely use this venue again 👍

After me and partner had our wedding postponed for a second time we decided to have a small intimate wedding with a few family, and booked the venue. We had previously decided on just having a basic day as we are having a big do with all family and friends next year. Knowing this the staff at the venue decided to add a few small details to the venue to make it that much more special. The staff went above and beyond any expectations anyone could have even going to the local store to buy a drink only my family have. I would recommend this venue to anyone it was perfect!

After having our big day postponed twice myself and my partner decided to have a small intimate wedding with a few family members present. We booked the loft venue for our reception and it blew us away. We really cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond to make sure we had a magical day. Thank you so so much!! It really is a beautiful place run by amazing people and I will make sure to tell as many people as I can!
