The Phoenix Deli in Manchester

The best vegetarian breakfast I've had for ages, the roasted cherry tomatoes were a lovely touch & very tasty. Best coffee I've tasted in a long time too. Very friendly & welcoming service. Highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed by their breakfast, it was totally lush ☺️

Took advantage of the soup and sandwich offer for £6. The homemade cauliflower and cheese soup was outstanding, really tasty. The toasted fishfinger sandwich was also really nice on excellent quality bread. We had to sit outside due to it being so busy (no surprise why) and was still given excellent service by Mark the waiter who was very attentive. Will definitely be returning to sample other things on the menu. Highly recommend.

We popped in here as we were just passing by, and I'm glad we did. Excellent quality food, lots of veggie options and gluten free bread as well. Friendly service and also good value, highly recommended

We visited for breakfast every morning before the Ashes cricket at Old Trafford so the name of the cafe was very appropriate. Fabulous breakfasts served on piping hot plates in a beautiful cosy surroundings.

I have visited here regularly and would previously have given it 5 stars. But this time the regular manager was not there and another man seemed to be in charge. My wife asked for a salad, but was told salads were only served in summer. Ok, so she ordered something else. But I then noticed a gentleman on another table was offered a salad and invited to choose from a choice of trays at the counter. So when I went to pay, I enquired why my wife had been refused a salad when clearly salad was available, indeed I could see the various trays right in front of me. I was then told salad was only served with soup or a sandwich, but not on its own. But my wife didn’t want it with soup or sandwich, just a salad. No, this was not allowed. There was then some illogical explanation that if they served salad without soup or sandwich they might run out of salad. Well, maybe you could buy more ingredients. And in any case there was still plenty left in the trays, so why refuse a present customer’s request on the possibility you might run out and then have to dissapoint a later arriving customer. Such poor customer care. He is in the wrong job and needs to learn about customer service. But, I repeat, the regular manager/owner was not there that day and he has always been friendly and courteous.

The food is outstanding. Friendly staff. This place has the best breakfast and sandwiches. I’ve been a customer since opening but realised I’d never reviewed the place when I was saying to a friend what a gem this place is.

Not been before and glad I went. Such a lovely bunch of people working there - friendly, attentive and really accepting of the changes I wanted to make to an item on the menue. The food was hot, DELICIOUS and a really good price too. Will be back!

Unable to park in Chorlton, so I was forced to park here- I saw the owner and it’s soon to reopen! Possibly the best news I’ve had this year!! A peek through the door shows the eclectic look is being continued, with new colours and superb 1960’s bits everywhere- my heart went out to David & Mark when the fire happened, but like the Phoenix itself the cafe looks like it’s reborn even better. Can’t wait for the friendly naughty humour from the chaps and seeing all the other regulars whilst enjoying the best breakfast in Manchester!!

Great little cafe near the centre of Chortlon and well worth a visit. Serves traditional things like English breakfast, bacon barns etc as well as lots of original and novel items with a good vegetarian selection. Great coffee, good prices and lovely staff. Go soon!
