The Perserverance - Hackney in Hackney

Me and a friend was harassed by the rude owner after having spent 1,5 hours at his pub and having bought 2 pints and to cokes right as the football match we came to watch, had started. As it was a calm Sunday we decided to take a small break from ordering more drinks (having already payed for drinks earlier) and as we sat down at the table indoor the grumpy rude owner started eyeballing us and passive aggressively badmouthing us. We calmly confronted him with the fact that we prior to his arrival had been drinking in the pub, sitting outside. The rude owner didn’t believe us and got the kind female bartender to tell us of, that only paying customers could watch the footy. She then recognised us and told the owner. We tried to show him our receipts but the old man didn’t care and told me that it didn’t matter and we had to keep buying drinks in order to watch the game (euro qualifiers Denmark v Finland, and the pub was nowhere busy or full) He told me that there was a rule that you had to buy drinks every 30 minutes in order to watch the game. I was in shock and felt very uncomfortable and he ended up kicking us out. The sweet female bartender, was very kind as she followed us out of the pub and apologised for her boss’s behaviour but that she couldn’t do anything as he’s was not very nice to anyone, not only us. Worst treatment I’ve ever received in any pub what so ever. (The staff was very kind but the owner really was a massive idiot)

Beers served in plastic glasses. When I asked why the knob behind the bar took umbrage with me. Why would I ever want to return to this hole.

Friendly family run pub with good drinks and good music. Bring your friends, bring your mammy, bring ya missus xxx

Owner is a bitter Irish fella who charged me £6 for a pint. no reason whatsoever. No wonder this ones on the way out

Caminé de un extremo del mercado luego de volver, soltamos aquí. poco gente boozer, pero nos sentimos bienvenidos, buena selección de cervezas y personal amable, sin entrar de nuevo cuando en la zona

Good pub, cheap compared to other local pubs, good choice of sport showing most nights. Darts is a bonus if you want to play. Lots of locals and usually quick service.

The heading says it all already. I really enjoyed my time there. Had the Free Ranger Pie and I loved it; especially the gravy ;)

I hate having to write bad reviews but feel like I need to be honest. Went in here to watch the Arsenal match on a dreary August Saturday, only to be told that all half pints & soft drinks are £2.50 whilst sport is showing. Management & staff were inhospitable, screens were inadequate for showing sport on. Unpleasant visit topped off by staff asking lad to leave when he didn't immediately buy a drink on entering the pub.
