I used to like this place but the experience I had on Friday 16 August was extremely distressing, and I urge you to investigate the matter thoroughly to prevent such incidents from happening to others in the future. Security and staff should ensure ALL PEOPLE that enter your premises are safe and treated with respect regardless of their gender, ethnicity, physical appearance, race, etc. Upon entering the club, everything seemed fine initially, and my friend and I were enjoying our night. Around 1:00 am, we decided to go to the bar to order drinks. I requested two waters, but before I could finish my sentence, the bartender rudely interrupted, asking, "Why the f*** do you need two waters?" Although shocked by his behavior, I calmly reiterated my request and added two gin and tonics to the order. At this point, I was already feeling uneasy due to the bartender's odd and aggressive demeanour towards me. When I received the gin and tonics, I tried and noticed they were made with soda water instead of tonic. I asked the bartender to correct the drinks, but he refused and insisted said that I needed to pay. I said “yes I’ll pay but please can you correct the drink first” I asked him to taste the drink several times to confirm my concern, which he refused to do. Fortunately, another bartender nearby sampled the drinks and agreed that I had been served incorrectly. He said “yes is soda water”. Rather than addressing the mistake, the original bartender escalated the situation by calling security, who then physically removed me from the premises without any explanation. Despite my attempts to understand why I was being treated this way, I received no answers. Security should have assessed the situation with basic moral compass instead of just removing me physically from the venue without knowing why. The entire episode was both humiliating and unwarranted, leaving me and those around me in shock. Given the circumstances, I cannot help but feel that my race and ethnicity and my Palestinian necklace may have played a role in how I was treated by your bartender. This deeply troubling possibility adds to the distress I have experienced and I wonder how many times this happens to black woman and Arab women in your venue. This incident occurred between 1:00 am and 1:30 am at the upstairs bar. I strongly urge you to review the CCTV footage and speak to the staff and patrons present that night. If your bartenders and security staff are allowed to misuse their power and treat customers in this manner, it raises serious concerns about the management and operation of your venue.

Attended this club with my friends a few nights ago as a reunion after not seeing one of them for three years and also to celebrate my birthday. I was enjoying my time (even though the AC was leaking all over us and soaked half the dance floor which management didn’t care about). I was having a sober night as I was working the next day. My friend whom I hadn’t seen for three years tells me she has to leave and I go away from my other friends to escort her out. As I was at the door for the club (I asked if I could go out and re enter was told no and I respected that) I hugged my friend goodbye whilst still in the club and the bald chubby bouncer immediately put his arm over the door and said I was drunk and can’t go back in. I very calmly and politely showcased to him that I was sober and by which point he realised that he then changed his story to I wasn’t obeying orders to come back in the club, which of course is a bald face lie (pun intended). This had several witnesses from people outside the club and everyone was shocked at his behaviour. These places need to get rid of their egotistical bouncers who are on a power trip especially against young women (I’m 20) like myself who they chuck out onto the streets of london on their own at 2am clearly just because they can and want to make themselves feel big. Truly disgusting behaviour from this bouncer who spoke down to me telling me I’m “nothing special” when I asked to go and get my friends so that I was not alone. He should be embarrassed of himself. Do NOT recommended corner shop to any young women if you want to feel safe. Besides, extortionate anyway lol

Very decent TV screens to watch the euros and bar staff are friendly I would recommend for sports . Kitchen seems closed most days so can’t comment on that

The staff is really unfriendly, they behave arrogantly towards customers and are not supportive at all when the latter ask for help. Avoid this place! If you have doubts, read all the other reviews as well and understand the treatment you might receive! Arrogant and rude.

Security here are disgusting and need to realize they are paid to be professional, I think they skipped the mark at taking a authority related job and are on a power trip. I have written to Trading Standards with my complaint, Staff underestimate who they are dealing with. Certainly wont be leaving my complaint at a review. Manager needs to reconsider security they let this establishment down.

The inside was fun and lit very good music. Though the head security guard needs to be fired. He is very rude and unnecessary. I had problems with him twice and so did my friends on different occasions.

Horrible experience, first time going for family birthday celebrations, after being inside for not even 10mins I go to the smoking area to be told I'm not allowed back in. Supposedly I had already been kicked out 5 times. Mistaken identity but the security staff were absolutely horrendous in this situation, rude, insulting, threatening behaviour not helpful and did not listen to me at all. I was called hurtful names by one particular security man in a beanie hat and his female colleague with glasses. Major power trip. You need new staff it was absolute chaos.

I loved the vibe here, I went with a group of girls and had multiple people paying for our drinks, it was a vibe, wish more bashment music was played even though the night was still fun, however , be careful there’s a security guard who refused to let me in the last time I tried to come and then while I was inside he kicked my friend out when she left to vape, I asked to pay her entry again and he refused and grabbed my arm to get me to leave as well. Later in the night (while my friend was still outside alone) I came to check on her and he pushed me in the back so I left the building I had to send one of my other friends inside to get my belongings. Really disappointed he ruined a perfect night.

Showing the Wales football game when everyone else is just showing the England one so it’s an easy 5*. Great pub to watch live sports in the area.

The bar man was incredibly rude, after collecting the used glasses from our table from previous diners he accidentally took my drink with him. When I asked if I could please have another drink he looked at me like I was really stupid. He did make a new half drink for me but when he slammed it on the bar he said ‘keep your drink on your own table next time’ as if it was my fault that he accidentally took my drink… I also can’t understand why a £30 deposit needs to be redeemed in one order, bizarre rule. Vibes in the bar were good just a shame the customer experience let it down, I genuinely was scared to go to the bar and order another drink.

Only tend to be in when visiting London during the week for football and it's a great pub with friendly staff, reasonable prices (for London) and loads of screens to watch. It's my go-to for a quiet pint when the football is on.

Came here for the UFC screening and paid £10 each for a reservation. Absolute waste of money as they let everyone and anyone in on the door free of charge. Drinks are served in plastic cups like you’re actually at the stadium rather than the bar. Tv screens all dirty. Probably wouldn’t return.

Probably the worst pub I’ve ever been in 6 years of my experience in London. Do not get there if you are looking to have a good night, as you won’t. Rude and unprofessional staff, especially the bulky guy with a beard. No organisation whatsoever by any means, as we put down MONEY to reserve a whole table to make sure everyone in the group was sitting down, however that didn’t happen and we also got strangers coming over to our table and using it. Horrible, horrible experience. Like I said before, do not give these people your hard working money as they don’t deserve it

If you don't like interacting with people do not work in a pub, simple as that. Terrible, terrible service and attitude. NEVER AGAIN.

Reserved for the PAY- PER- VIEW UFC nights; For the main card we missed the first show because they had the football on. When the football changed it was half rugby / half UFC on the TVs with loud obnoxious music (which wasnt on while the football was playing.) Mind you we paid per person for the night for reservation and it was advertised that the 21st of October was a UFC night. Would not come again. Will not recommend.

Booked a table days in advance specifically to watch the F1, as the website advertises the place as an F1 bar. Instead, the first 20 mins of the race wasn’t even shown despite asking staff several times and although there are several screens in the bar, they wouldn’t switch off the NFL that, let’s face it, no one cares about outside the US. When the race was put on, staff insisted on keeping the sound for the NFL, even though it was a highlights show that mainly consisted of adverts. If the bar hadn’t specifically held itself out as a place to watch the F1 it would have got a much better review, but this felt like disingenuous advertising and the bar manager couldn’t have been less helpful when I raised my concerns.

Not brilliant birthday drinks. Booked because their website advertises a 2 for 1 happy hour and food. We had to wait for their cocktail-trained barman to arrive. Their website advertises 2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour but as it turns out it was actually 2 for £15, and only a small selection of drinks were in the offer. The drinks were nevertheless tasty. It also turned out that their kitchen was actually closed on Mondays, after we’d already paid for food. They graciously prepared the food anyway and gave us some extra chips, and the food was tasty, but it took a very long time - we had to ask where our food was and only then did they even realise we’d ordered food at all. Altogether everything was very expensive. I was most disappointed that their offering was so different than advertised on their website, and this was sadly not made up for by the apologetic service. I would not have chosen this venue had I know they weren’t doing food or 2 for 1 drinks.

Während des NFL Sonntags war die Bar voll und es gab keine Plätze mehr. Wir dachten das wäre auch während der CL Spiele unter der Woche so. Leider waren nicht mal 10 Gäste vor Ort. Sodas wir die Bar gewechselt haben und 10 Meter weiter in die Matchbox Bar gegangen sind. Die Cornershop Bar ist aber top ausgestattet. Mit 5 Fernsehern und guten Getränken.

Breakfast was overdone and tasteless. Service was a decent one and a nice atmosphere. Food definitely could be improved!!!

Relatively expensive pints at £6.50 per pint. No drink menus to see the prices beforehand. No information regarding prices for drinks to be found anywhere because they are trying to hide their prices because they know they are poor value for money. It's weird having a man in the toilet that passes you the soap and hand towel I'd rather just clean my hands myself rather than having to rely on someone else to do it who is expecting a tip. Seems like the venue turns into a place to dance later on in the evening but I didn't end up staying long enough for this.

Decent place to watch the football. The two person sharing platter though should be called something else. It was tiny, my friend had to order another main meal rather than share it. How do 2 people share 3 wings?

Amazing service, bathrooms are pristine. The barman/owner goes above and beyond! Amazing atmosphere and cocktails and all drink were amazing!

Brilliant for viewing sports and great atmosphere. I'm not sure if it's standard but table service the last two visits. Not tried the food so can't comment.

Cozy comfortable bar in the evening, DJ comes on later. Nice bar food, cheesy chips were great at £4. And the DJ so far has not missed. Class hits! Love this pub!

Can't comment on food as I didn't eat but I won't mark down for something I didn't do. However, beer kept well and a really nice safe comfy vibe even late at night. Loos down a flight of stairs always make me want to leave sooner rather than later ( O these dodgy knees of mine ) 😁

Was an alright experience with friends

Visited here to watch a world cup game. We were sat downstairs near to the air con system which smelt absolutely horrendous. It smelt like air was being pumped into the room from the toilets.

Never been in but booked a table for a world cup game which we paid a £20 p/p deposit for which was fair. Before the game we received an email saying that the £20 p/p we paid was no longer a deposit and it was an entrance fee for the game if we wished to keep our booking. To be fair walked past it on the day of the game and it looks an absolute dive anyway.

Wish I could leave 0 stars. I made a booking prior to the World Cup fixture of England playing. Paid £10pp via online booking for 5pm-8pm. Arrived on time and wasn’t granted access till 5.30pm and was told no tables were available all removed. Walked in the bar to find several. Seeing as we were the first in line we chose one and ordered food only to be asked to moved mid way and told to stand and eat. We was told our table was a free for all and should speak to the owner. I did that and revived a very rude and smarmy undertone and was told the table was booked 4 weeks ago. Yet on the door I was told it was available. What I assume is someone on the door probably offered above and beyond to pay for it and was granted it. the owner was extremely rude and said here’s your money now leave. Wasn’t able to finish our food or drinks we paid £40 for 🙃 tbh I was content in heading home to watch the match. Who’s paying over £200 for a table to watch the game in the flipping corner shop anyway but it was the principle. Very mislead and handlers very unprofessionally. As far as I’m concerned they can like a hole and stick it! Disgraceful ownership. Ps. They fail on health and safety regs. They shut all shutters so people couldn’t sit on the ledge outside and watch the match but they don’t realise it’s a health and safety breach as there was only one fire exit which was also blocked by stools. Place is run by cowboys. Thanks to the security though, they were humble and helpful and apologetic. Bless up to them.

Security unbelievably dismissive and unprofessional. We paid £20 a head for tickets to watch the World Cup and were sat downstairs on sticky tables in an area that stunk like sewerage the whole time. We were not allowed out during half time despite having paid for a seated area, security were incredibly rude to our party. We moved upstairs afterwards and security walked the floor constantly moving chairs and coats and aggressively telling us to pay for cloakroom rather than keep our coats at our table. Unbelievably rude and inconsiderate, as locals to East London we would NEVER return or recommend.

This is alright, i went for a night out the my girl mates and we had a good night but the place gets really packed and it's hard to even move. We had to pay £12 entry fee after 10pm. One advise, don't put your coat in the coat room as the line gets really long and it can take up to an hour to get your coat back as there is only one guy working there. Also if you didn't pay for the entry fee you will have to pay £2 to put the coat in.

They say it's free entry before 10pm, but that's a lie, they still charge ladies £10 and men £20. The drinks were watered down. Security guards were violent and rude for no reason at all. DO NOT waste your money and time here.

I cannot believe the service I had last night. I am a regular customer to Cornershop and usually enjoy my night. I have recommended this place to so many people, including my cousin who I was out with yesterday. We were having a good time, waiting to order drinks at the bar, and the bar man moves a "no service" sign right by us so that we no longer are receiving bar service. Now bare in mind we having been ordering drinks from here all night, and for this particular round we had been waiting for a while. So, I moved the sign back to where it was originally (a little bit to the right). All of a sudden, we were kicked out of the club by the apparent owner. While outside, I asked to speak with the manager/owner ( the guy that kicked us out), however, all I got in response was rudeness and dismissal. I wanted to talk with him (not argue) as I believed it was a minor misunderstanding. One security guard told me that the manager is coming, while the other told me he is not coming. While we were visibly upset, the security just laughed at us, ignored us and let their male friends through. As a consumer (who has paid for entry + drinks) I hold the right to speak to a manager, but my complaint was not handled correctly at all. As a result, this is how my night continued: As two young ladies we couldn't get home (since being kicked out unfairly, we didn't know where we were). I lost my phone as I was so angry and we ended up basically hitch-hiking from a stranger and got home at 6am. The bottom line is that I am a regular at Cornershop and have never had such unfair service EVER. They seemed to not take us seriously because we were young women. All I wanted was my money back and some simple decency, but this is apparently too much to ask for from here.

My Wife and I are out traveling through Europe absorbing the local culture and experiencing the local cuisine. After a day of flying and going through customs yet again we found ourselves tired and hungry. We checked into our hotel and started to wander the streets looking for a place to grab a drink and an appetizer while we looked for a dinner spot. Stumbles upon this spot and were greeted with a smile and then treated to their loaded fries and local beers. Amazing service and atmosphere. Ended up staying for more food and drink. Very enjoyable time if you are looking for some homemade bar food!

The Cornershop, a most fine pub with a certain Hungarian feel to it! A super place and one of the most friendly places I have been to. Lovely people on the bar, with a story to tell. A true shabby chic, post industrial venue, love it. Not for the real ale drinkers but a fantastic place all the same.

Allowed me in establishment after checking ID and searching my bag (clearly I wasn’t so drunk that he wasn’t going to let me in) heard me ask my friend to wait for me as I needed to use the toilet… the male bouncer followed me down and dragged me out (I am a female) as “I needed to buy a drink first”. Excessive and disgusting - of all the things going on in life allowing a potential customer to go to the toilet (regardless of if they have the intention to buy a drink or not) is just a point of humanity. I would actually like a written report of the incident with the bouncers security number as I am going to make a formal complaint as the law states he cannot push or throw me out unless I am threatening someone and in all honesty he grabbed me and tried to use force unprovoked.

Down to earth and Fabulous value and the lovely (Scandinavian?) bar man is a shining angel in the barren wasteland of shoreditch hospitality.

We went there after work on a monday night kind of before closing, the owner welcomed us and we had nice guinnesses and cognac. Lovely Poppy behind the bar kept us excelent company. Thank you very much.

Only giving 1 star because I have (cliché I know) After 10pm they almost double to prices, staff lie to you about only serving doubles. Don’t provide you with water (even though they have to based on licensing restriction). But they’re happy to charge £10 for entry per person for this awful service. Think twice about heading here.

A terrible place to work. Underpaid me, treated me like a piece of s**t. The way they speak to staff is totally unprofessional and out right rude.. I will do my best to stop these lot doing what they do to staff. The worst experience working for a couple I have ever been in. If could give less than one star I would. Beware of a distinctively rude security guard wearing a black beany hat that works there. I politely tried to ask him a simple question when I first arrived to which his response was dismissive, sarcastic and rude. The last time I went here he was also EXTREMELY RUDE to the point where I recognised him this time round. I also witnessed him being rude to others. Great place once you go inside but be wary of unprovoked verbal abuse from this security guard if you ever go there for a night out.

This is a bad place. They made us queue for ages telling us it was £10 for laddies. Then we go tto the front and they demanded £20 from each of us. Can you believe it!?-0 apparently It had nothing to Do with time. This discriminatory nature (men paid more) in addition to the unclarity of the queue is an outrage in 2022. If you go here that’s embarassing. Sorry. Don’t.

I knew this place but hadn't been for a long time. Friendliest ever bar staff, (Noah deserves a special mention) and excellent food, I ordered fish and chips, one of the best I've had in a long time. You could tell the fish was fresh, the chips and the mushy peas just amazing. Well done to the chef Monica and to all the staff. Will surely come back when in London.

Asemake was absolutely amazing tonight! He completely made our night! Coming from a hospitality background, this service is incredibly hard to find and I’m glad he made our night what it was. The corner bar wouldn’t be the same without him :)

It's okay , I like the staff thier cool . The vive is okay . Something is missing for me to give 5stars but it's a good enough vibe if you on the right Friday or Saturday
