Had some lunch at this coffee shop on Saturday. Very disappointed to be honest. Pot of tea was nice but the food wasn't very good at all. We both had toasted Sandwich which was shocking really. The bread was so thin and with minimal cheese and onion. Once cooked ended ip.looking like too think bits of cardboard. Cold and floppy. Salad was brown and crisps soft. When asked if OK.when paying I did t want to say as there were people near the tills. Sorry won't be back. Nice bread and some filling would be good. Wondered why it was empty when we went in. 😕

The venue was recommended to me as the perfect local place to meet up with a friend. Staff were very welcoming and the place itself is pristine, but homely at the same time. We were not rushed into ordering and given plenty of time to get our "hello" over with, after years of not seeing each other! Plenty of choice on the menu for a light lunch or something more substantial. Service and food was excellent - we will certainly visit again and recommend to other friends!

We last visited Belper & The Perfect Cuppa in May 18. We returned today and had just as lovely a lunch as last time. I had a cheese & onion sandwich on white bread with a cup of homemade mushroom soup. The sandwich was served with crisps & a nice salad garnish - not just a handful of leaves as in lots of places. Lovely, fresh, soft bread. My OH had a bbq chicken, bacon & mozzarella panini which he loved & a white hot chocolate which he said was absolutely divine! The service was great & staff friendly. Cafe was spotlessly clean. I can definitely recommend.

Wow! What a lovely hidden gem this is! Called with some friends for hot drinks and cake. The staff were most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The loose leaf tea was very flavoursome and came with a delicate shortbread taster. The home baked bake well tart was soft moist and delicious and the oatmeal cookie was crisp and full of flavour. We will definitely be visiting again!

This splendid cafe was previously known as the Strutt Street Cafe. It has changed hands a couple of times since but I have remained a regular visitor. I am pleased to say that under the present owner Sue, plus team, it is excellent. All food and cakes are cooked/baked on site, tea and coffee good quality, staff bright and cheerful. I enjoy popping in for a coffee and a natter. Most of the regular attenders now know each other and the banter and humour make a great atmosphere in this small cafe. Don't be put off if you are a stranger, come into the friendliest cafe in Belper.

I was in the same party as alibcha below and feel that the Snug in which we were sat in was perfect for us as we were a party of 7 including a 2 yr old who wanted out of high chair and the upstairs “ bedroom “ was perfect sandwiches ok and home made scones perfect with plenty of jam and cream. The cakes were also ‘scrummy’ as my daughter described. The only issue was that the full cream tea needs to be prebooked which I didn’t know/wasn’t informed. We booked for seven adults travelling a long distance for an 80th Birthday, for afternoon tea. On arrival we were shown to a tiny front ex bedroom and the staff denied all knowledge of the afternoon tea booking. They refused to provide afternoon tea. We then paid £10 per head for a cup of tea and a scone. The table was too small for us to sit at and the food completely mediocre. Service negligible, don’t wast your time.

Went here and had a light lunch, food was lovely, staff very nice, sat in nice little back garden.Unfortunately there was a lady with a dog sitting inside and we were shocked to see two of the staff petting the dog and one of them proceeded to empty a dishwasher of clean crockery and cutlery without washing her hands, and the other went around the serving area without washing her hands. There was another couple sat outside who also witnessed this and we all agreed we were glad we had already had our food.I appreciate a lot of eateries are pet friendly but find it very disturbing that the staff behaved in this manner on this occasion in what overall is a a lovely clean cafe but for this reason my rating would have definitely been a 5

We have been regular visitors to the perfect cuppa. However since it has been taken over, the quality of the food has gone downhill rapidly. Food is sent out burnt to the point that it is almost inedible and the bread is now cut so thinly that it completely falls apart. The hollandaise sauce tastes disgusting and looks like lumpy custard and the scrambled eggs are tasteless and watery. It is a real shame the quality has reduced so quickly as under the previous owners the perfect cuppa was our favourite place to go.

Last Saturday, for the first time ever in my life (40 years of eating out as an adult) , we had to send food uneaten back to the kitchen. The soup was incredibly salty and acidic. I have quickly fallen in love with this cafe. On each occasion I have visited, the welcome has been warm, the food delicious and the drink perfect. It is my most recent visit that has prompted my review however. I visited with my five week old daughter, my first attempt at going to a cafe with her on my own. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful to the extent that one of them held my awake baby while I buttered my scone (I had the savoury cream tea which was delicious) and kept an eye on her whilst I used the toilet. Visited The Perfect Cuppa for the first time today. The premises are nicely decorated and very clean. There is a varied menu on offer and a good selection of cakes. They take your order at the table which is rare these days and the waitresses were friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to order and very tasty, as well as being reasonably priced.. We will definitely go back in the future.

My husband and I popped in for a quick drink over the weekend. We were greeted, asked to take a seat and we had our order taken promptly. We only had 2 teas, both loose leaf but absolutely nothing to complain about. Nice atmosphere, nicely decorated, lovely staff.

This lovely little cafe used to be called "Strutts Bakery" and has recently undergone a change of management and a refurb. It has a lovely fresh and clean interior and we were lucky enough to choose a Friday morning when the sun was shining so sat outside in their lovely courtyard with lot sof herb plants around. The lady behind the counter is always friendly and welcoming and efficient. The coffee and tea are good and the cakes are delicious. I often find cakes look delicious but then fail to deliver on taste but not here, the cakes are tasty and moist, my favourite being the salted caramel brownie which melts in your mouth. Belper has an overload of coffee shops but this is the best.... and I have tried most.

I would like to say a huge thank you for helping me yesterday when I fell over opposite your cafe. The staff, especially Hayley, were amazing and so kind helping me into the cafe and providing an ice pack and drink of water. They allowed me to sit there as long as I wanted. By the way the coffee and cakes they serve are amazing! Thank you so much.

I called by for a quick breakfast sandwich takeaway before work. I wanted to spend at a local independent business and try somewhere new. I wish I hadn’t picked here… I ordered a sausage sandwich for £3 and chucked it straight in the bin after one bite. Chewy microwaved pre-cooked sausages on cheap white bread with a measly bit of ketchup. I wouldn’t even pay 50p for that. The owners should be ashamed of this… if this is the usual standard of food I’d expect them to be closed down soon.

The food is excellent and so are the staff. It is a very friendly country style cafe with a homely feel. Their breakfasts are fab. So are their dinners and a great choice of deserts. Their pies are fab nice and meaty with no fat. Served with whatever you want. However, with their special potatoes & peas they are lovely. There is a great choice of food and it is all home made. Claire and family who run it are so nice and they are very attentive and helpful. We call it our local and we would not go anywhere else. Well done to all the staff.

The foods actually really good and it’s got a lovely garden area, just the service needs sorting out as it was terrible. It wasn’t particularly busy but it really took a long time. We visited a few weeks later, only to have to wait even longer to be served and then after receiving drinks and and placing our food order was told it was a 1h wait for food, would of been nice to have been advised about the food wait times as we where seated or when placing our drinks order. Hopefully management turn it around soon.
