Went out with with family for lunch. I had the lamb, which was mostly fat and grease. It looked awful and there was no way I could eat it. It took a long time for me to finally get the attention of a member of staff. They were all congregating at the bar area talking. They were all oblivious to diners and did not ask if everything was OK, hence the long wait. Eventually someone saw me and came over. I refused to have it replaced as another portion would be the same. I was given a free dessert though (eh...) This so called restaurant is overrated and extremely disappointing. There are some great places to eat. Unfortunately this isn't one of them.

We arrived for our meal one hour earlier however was surprised to see only one couple in the restaurant area eating therefore opted to eat earlier than planned as we felt uncomfortable and embarrassed. From the photos we thought you would look out onto open countryside however overlook the local school … not a great view! Food arrived and the lamb was overcooked despite being told it would arrive ‘red’ and the butter bean dauphiniose was a hard, dry mush! Service wasn’t great and then after ordering drinks was told the pump wasn’t working then to have 2 drinks brought to the table 10 minutes later saying ‘they’d fixed it’ … incompetence springs to mind! The manager was argumentative upon explaining why the lamb dish hadn’t been eaten. She thought it was ok to take off our £8 starter as compensation but when questioned she wasn’t best pleased. If eating in the restaurant look up to see the ‘fur lined’ panels on the roof which are in need of a good dust. Won’t be returning!! Also beware if siting on the back seating, you will constantly hear the grounding of the coffee machine which is situated in the restaurant, next to the toilet entrance and tables.

A fantastic restaurant/pub. We met with friends for dinner on a Thursday evening. We were shown to our table in the bar area which was lovely, all the tables in the main restaurant were all booked. The food was exceptional, they had some really nice beers on too and everyone really enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend this place. Quality food/drink, great service and atmosphere.

After trying two pubs one closed down another short staffed so not taking anymore bookings but recommended this pub . Phoned ahead they were fully booked but reserved a table near the bar until we got there. Warm welcome table reserved as promised . Lovely smart pub we were quite happy in the cosy bar area . Great pint of Timothy Taylor ,ordered fish and chips and baked cod and lentils both lovely well cooked and hot . Good selection of starters and desserts all looked good coming out but we only want a main meal this time . Fantastic friendly service booked again for our last night of the holiday . Got a instant confirmation on my phone .

Absolutely amazing meal - the food was delicious!! I had the smoked cheese custard for starter and the vegan burger for main - it was genuinely the best vegan burger I've ever had! The desert selection was so good too - I had the sticky date pudding with their ice cream which is made on site - it was literally unreal! Also, the staff were super friendly and helpful! Chris in particular did a cracking job and helped us out when we had made a mistake with our booking - thank you so much!! We will definitely be back!!

Food was nice. Staff weren’t necessarily rude but as soon as we walked in there was nothing friendly or welcoming. We’re on holiday here so not sure of the type of restaurant it is with ordering etc so we may have done it the wrong way - we would have been happy if they’d have told us that but everything felt awkward. We were made to feel really unwelcome and as though we were a burden as soon as we walked in (partner overheard staff talking about us). Could understand if it was extremely busy as we were walk-ins but the bar area where we would be sitting (dog friendly area) was empty and staff were just standing around. As I said, we may not have understood the type of place it is, but would have been happy for them to tell us we needed to book when we walked in. We were just greeted with an unfriendly man behind the bar who quite clearly didn’t want us there. Glad it’s not our local restaurant but with all the other good reviews, it seems it’s a popular place.

We booked last minute for a table of 6, we hadn’t visited before and could only get the bar area which i was a bit worried about but there was no need. The atmosphere and decor was lovely, just what we were after. The food was excellent, none of us could fault anything. Even my youngest picky eater had a great selection to choose from on the kids menu, ‘best sausages ever’ apparently! Lovely little play area for them the enjoy after dinner. The layout of the restaurant made it slightly on the noisy side but apart from that a really great evening meal and will definitely return. I can't recommend this venue highly enough! We booked at very short notice (about 2 hours) as we were staying in the area overnight and hadn't found anywhere to eat. The old building has been renovated beautifully, with bright, modern and tasteful décor. The lady who greeted us was very friendly and welcoming, and the (exceptionally hardworking!) staff were attentive and efficient. The food was just amazing! It was nicely presented, expertly cooked and absolutely delicious. They have a good range of real ales and beers, and the menu catered for vegetarians and vegans (unlike some of the other pubs in the area!). There was a great atmosphere, without being too noisy. The music wasn't too obtrusive, and catered to all tastes (not just modern stuff!). Overall, we had a brilliant experience and will definitely return if/when in the area again. If there's one small negative point, it's that the car park is tiny and you may have to park on the street. However, this didn't detract from a fantastic meal in a genuinely lovely place run by genuinely lovely people!

Firstly, I cannot fault the food or the service. The food was fantastic, and the service and staff were really great. The only issue I have is that we felt on edge the whole time. When I booked the table I stated that I needed a high chair for a 10 month old. When we arrived, there was no high chair at the table, but there was no issue providing one. However, this wasn't popular with a table near to us. The baby was really well behaved, but obviously was noisy occasionally, earning us pointed stares and grumbling. I completely understand that they would have wanted to eat their lunch in a peaceful environment, but we felt uncomfortable the whole time. I do think that if the high chair had been remembered, we may have been seated elsewhere, where a baby would have been acceptable.

We were looking forward to trying the new menu advertised as we always find it is quite limited. However on arriving I was disappointed to see that as usual the one and only vegan option on the menu was the exact burger that has been on there forever. We live locally and enjoy eating out, but with other pubs/restaurants in the area offering much more in the way of vegan options, the bluebell is being left behind. Also, can I just point out that only offering ‘sorbet’ as a vegan pudding is really annoying!!! Please, up your vegan game!

Dear to whoever this concerns Tonight as a group of loyal customers we felt disappointed and dejected when a certain member off staff came over to our table at 17:30 to explain we were too loud and making the atmosphere uncomfortable for others. We are a group of people who are very dedicated to supporting our local pubs which explains our attendance nearly every Friday after school to let our kids enjoy the play area whilst we look back at our working week in an atmosphere I believe to be welcoming. We have had many occasions in the past where our openness and kindness had invited your guests to our table explaining how excellent the staff/ food are at the bluebell and personally recommended food which is on your menu. With the above in mind I / We feel victimised because we come straight from school with kids who enjoy playing in your facilities, which makes it uncomfortable for your customers at certain points. If you don’t feel your environment is appropriate for school kids and their families at the time between 3:30 - 19:00 then please let me know and we can accommodate ourselves to other local pubs in the village. Be great to hear your feedback which I’m really hoping will be positive and honest. Yours sincerely

With the bluebell being our local, we visited with other local families (5 families) for a drink after school, we were made to feel very unwelcome by a member of staff whilst we were sitting in the bar area and the children were playing outside on the play area provided. If the Bluebell doesn’t want an atmosphere in the bar area (not loud, just people talking) or children playing in the playground, then why provide such amenities? @Bluebell please accept you are local pub as well as a restaurant, accept both and not chastise people for having a nice time whilst in your facility. Your restaurant was practically empty, so why put dining guests in the bar area! Better management of your arrangement, and customer interactions are needed. We spend a lot in your pub and contribute to South Wingfield economy regularly please appreciated this!!!

We visited with a friend recently for Sunday lunch. Normally we can rely on the quality of the meals at the Bluebell but this time we were all disappointed. We ordered the roast ribeye beef which had a considerable amount of fat on it.. The amount of roast vegetables served separately was inadequate for 3 people. The cauliflower cheese was the most disappointing the cauliflower looked old and limp in a thin sauce. On a positive note the sticky toffee pudding was lovely full of flavour and so light..

Lovely relaxed and modern pub. The food is good however I find it a little overpriced for what it is. We had lovely starters, but the main wasn't anything particularly special. I also found two small shards of chicken bone and a few pieces of gristle in my chicken pie which was a little off putting and awkward trying to discretely fish them out of my mouth. However, the service was good overall.

Amongst the food (table of 7) we had 3 of the rump steak and chips. One was excessively sinewey and hence on the very chewy side. Guess you blame the butcher/supplier and not the chef. We did raise this and without asking it was not billed for, which was a fair outcome. All the other dishes were good.

One of the best Sunday lunches I have had in a long time. Came here whilst visiting Derbyshire and celebrating a family birthday. The menu had a nice selection of choices and I was easily catered for being gluten free. I had the cured salmon to start, the roast chicken for main and the creme brulee for dessert - I was stuffed! The salmon was beautifully presented and tasted very fresh, but the stand out was the chicken which was soft and tender, and came with a yummy mash and creamed leeks. The only negative would be that it says on the menu that all of the mains are served with roasted veg and cauliflower cheese. These came out separately and we were only given a tiny portion between four of us (barely enough for two people), so we had to ask for more. I was even given GF shortbread with my creme brulee. The wine was also very reasonably priced. Everyone else also thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Next time we are back in Derbyshire, I will try and make time to come again.

What a superb meal! My husband and I have just got home after a truly memorable meal at The Bluebell. There can be no higher praise for an eaterie than to say, in unison, 'We'll be back'! Today's lunch was a celebratory meal to mark a very special 6 year milestone for my husband following heart surgery. The Bluebell delivered great beer ( Tim Taylor's Landlord) magnificently cooked and presented steaks (we both had rumps and loved them!) and a dessert menu that tempted us both. But that's not all. There was ambience, atmosphere and warmth.... the massive windows flooded the dining conservatory with bright Spring light (even on a cloudy day!) , and the serving staff were charming. It may seem a little unusual to end a review of a hostelry with mention of the fantastic loos, but it would simply be amiss to remain silent about some of the most beautifully decorated facilities I've ever used! From the majestic oak doors in the cubicles and the classy blue tiling by the handbasins to the inspired drip mats under the hand driers - these WCs scream style, quality and craftsmanship. Thank you to everyone involved at The Bluebell. We are a very, very happy pair of customers - with full tummies and a superb memory made.

The food here is very good and I’m a reasonably frequent visitor but they need to be clearer about their closing hours and concentrate a little more on the whole diner/drinker experience. At a recent evening meal the staff visited our table several times to get our orders and the food felt rushed through. At 9.30pm we asked for coffees to be told that they had shut down the machine for cleaning and if they were to serve drinks from it it would be poisonous ( odd thing to say). It was clear that by 10pm the staff were ready to go home and at 10.15pm we were asked to leave as they were closing. The site says that drinks are served until 11pm so we weren’t expecting this. Dining out should not only be about the food but the whole experience of feeling welcomed with well trained and experienced staff. I’m afraid the staff on this occasion let the place down.

We had booked our table for 7 persons, for 1:30pm today. After obtaining drinks at the bar, we where quickly shown to our table, in the lovely restaurant. However, after being given our menus our orders were not taken until 2:00pm. Not sure just how many staff in the kitchen and how busy it was, but the food appeared slow in arriving. But it has worth waiting for and we all agreed it was amazing, except the risotto which was a little bland. Nobody enquired if everything was in order! 4 of us had desserts and all were excellent. But even with us sitting near the coffee machine, nobody asked if we wanted coffee. The bill arrived and we waited to pay, but ended up going to the bar to do so. It was a great shame about the service. The young staff very pleasant, but they did not appear to have anyone in charge.

Lovely interior. Small Sunday menu but all choices were acclaimed by our group. My beef was the pinkest I have ever had, but it was the tenderest and tastiest as well. Must be a fantastic butcher supplying the place. Good service, pleasant staff.

I am not a fan of Sunday Lunches, but we were meeting up with some friends so I had to go along with the plan! The building was really nicely fitted out and the new extension was not too noisy - some are, but steps...

Food is amazing and great value. The parking isn’t great when it’s busy but there’s parking on the roadside infront. Will definitely be coming here again soon. 😊

Unfortunately I was quite underwhelmed. I live locally and came here with my parents for the first time for dinner. It was nice and warm in the dining area which was good because the door to the patio kept getting left open. The waitress must...

So sorry. Food is excellent as always (especially the Sunday carvery). Don't know why it set it to one for that rating

Visited on a recent trio to peak district. Had a fantastic Sunday roast and went back next day as it was so good. Great burger and very good chips
