Great coffee! A small place with a small amount of seating inside but great amazing everytime!

Ice filter coffee was good, would have went for the warm filtered but the weather was blazing. Nice small cafe with a nice chill jazzy playlist for a short work.

I come here a lot and the coffee is always stunning. The milk is properly frothed and the perfect temperature. I love the little treats they have as well (especially the brownies) and the service is lovely. The baristas also make lovely latte art, recently I got a swan which I genuinely haven’t seen in any cafe in london until now.

Enticed by the aesthetics but disappointed by the coffee and food. Just under £8 for an oat flat white and a pastry. Burnt oat milk overshadowing any potential coffee notes, barista couldn’t even be bothered to make latte art, and a tough-to-chew pain au raisin 🥲 So many better options around the corner.

“Open until 6pm”.. arrive at 5:15pm and they’re locked up. Come the next day at 4:45pm. “Sorry, we’ve shut down our coffee machine.” If you close your coffee machine early, then surely your hours posted should reflect that. Disappointing as I was looking forward to visiting… twice.

Not a very good chai latte, rather flavourless.Very small for the price and almost no spice to the flavour. Disappointing.

I was disappointed with the iced oat matcha, it tasted like cinnamon and wasn’t whisked properly. The interior and vibe was lovely, probably will try a coffee next time though. Edit: tried the coffee, probably one of my favourite in London however for one of the most expensive flat whites I’ve ever had in London, I would expect coffee art?

Nice filter. Good selection of coffees to try but the decaf cortado was awful. Oat milk was burnt and the coffee over-extracted. Not one would expect from a specialty coffee shop. Avoid if you're after decaf.

Somehow a hidden gem if you like great espresso and simplicity. The coffee was great, the service very good and if they play the music a bit louder it would be a perfect combo. Anyway it's worth visiting it.

One of the greatest specialty coffee spots you can find in London

A nice little place - had a very pleasant rooibos. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very chill. I visited after 4pm, and they'd sold out of pastries, but never mind.

Good coffee and service - however the shop closed at 4pm on a Friday when the opening hours said 6pm.

The coffee is pretty good and not obscenely expensive. Staff are indifferent and are only friendly towards regulars.

Super friendly staff, we got a v60 and aeropress and they were super nice showing us the bean varieties they had and let us taste some samples. Great spot 👌

A breath of fresh, coffee-scented air. This is a beautifully designed, independent coffee shop, offering delicious coffee and a refreshing alternative to the usual rabble of sub-par coffee houses, lurking just around the corner, on Tottenham Crt Rd. (They don't offer much in the way of food, just a few pastries, which looked fine - I didn't try any)

Really great coffee - fast service for a lot of different coffees, and all of them quality. The flat white was a highlight.

J'ai été très bien servi dans ce lieu, et j'avais commandé un chocolat chaud qui était très bon. De plus, je n'avais pas mon adaptateur avec moi et ils ont pu m'en prêter un pour pouvoir recharger mon téléphone. Ce n'est pas très grand à l'intérieur, mais ça a l'avantage d'être calme. Ce café se trouve pas très loin du British Museum, ce qui est une bonne chose.

Drinks are super tasty, strong coffee even the decaf. Vegan tax and tiny drinks though.

The coffee is good, would highly recommend an oat flat white. The big advantage of this coffee shop is how nice cozy and quiet it is making it ideal to study or work.

Fantastic coffee shop located right by Goodge Street station. Wide range of coffee on selection and non dairy milks of choice. Got a cortado and it was excellent and well balanced. Overall great coffee as to be expected. The seating area is super nice and relaxed. Very clean bathrooms. Staff were excellent and very polite during the morning rush. Highly recommend coming back and great overall.

The coffee is good, but in a few occasions my expresso was burnt. The baked good are really good and the inside decor is comfy as lovely. Prices are fair. My only issue is that on the few times I have been there, the staff was a little condescending. Maybe it was just a bad few days.

PENNY DROP café So tiny, so cosy, so young, so English. I was hunting a good black traditional tea..so difficult to find in London nowadays..and I bumped into this student friendly neighbourhood corner. Soft jazz music 🎶 and free WiFi in a calm set. Not to speak about its large 🥐 cornetto and rolls. 😽

The coffee was tasty, but considerably small portions for the price (I paid £3.80 for a latte). Also a bit disappointing that 50p extra is asked for non-dairy milk. This could easily be resolved by balancing out dairy/non-dairy prices.

Excellent coffee and friendly staff. Really nice place to just stop, drink coffee and relax. Will visit again.

They make the most delicious flat white I have ever tasted. It has so pleasant combination of coffee bitterness and milk.

Great place. Coffee is made properly. Wide enough range of choices. Good vibe inside. Fast WiFi for laptop work. Starbucks is round the corner - why bother going there when The Penny Drop is so much better?

Like worker who waits for the penny to drop for the machine to work, I came here several times and finally they were open. This is a lovely coffee shop with great vibe and coffee. Worth a visit.

Best coffee shop in London. Staff are super-helpful/friendly & not annoyingly hipster. Coffee is updated every few weeks from a varied selection of UK roasters. Prices are fair (for central London) and haven't increased in over 1 yr. Really nice, bright, clean space on a Fitzrovia corner w/ seating for about 20, as well as a comprehensive selection of Monocle magazines. Worth going out of your way for!

Found this place today via google and took my client (voluntary work) Only visited because it mentioned Australian Coffee which is renowned for being up there as the best. They said they were trialling being open on Saturdays. Google said it was closed but i missed that part and ended up walking to place and gladly it was open! I think their first Saturday. We both had Mocha. Rating 9/10. Excellent standard. We had lengthy conversations with staff and then met one of the owners Customer service is excellent and I appreciate the fun lecture they gave us on Australian Coffee, promted by my curious self :) Definitely coming back. Clearly high standard speciality coffee from good baristas. Thanks for reading 😎

A rather nice Australian coffeeshop with amazingly designed interior. It seems like they change their coffee rotation* often which I very much appreciate. And while it's a great spot, it's hard to stand out, especially when it's this close to Kaffeine and Flat White. *When I walked in, they were serving a wonderful natural from China - which, although great as an espresso and as a v60, could be a bit much in milky drinks.

I’m usually not a fan of Australian coffee shops and their embrace of ever-more bright, citrusy espresso. (And it seems many London coffeehouses are enamored with them Ozzies!). But Penny Drop really pulls it off—bright, yes, but also full and rounded—super tasty. And the baristas are wonderfully friendly, amiable, and open—really, really nice vibe. Worth hunting down.

So I order a Large to get what in my habit-head is a regular size Americano. But its delicious coffee made well by really lovely non-fuss baristas, seating area is great for a quick break but I wouldn't linger there for work & coffee after coffee, mainly cos the 1st one does the trick.

Textbook streamlined Nordic funk-tionalism in this snuggle. They're well-versed coffee adepts here, efficient, attentive and relaxed. Ignore the smidgen of inconsequential bites and savour the consummate coffee found here. Pleasant and animated.

Hands down best chai in London. I’m slightly biased because I’m an Aussie, but Prana Chai is by far the best chai blend on the market, and they do it so well here. The V8 coffee is also great. Very chilled vibe with great music too. They don’t rush you out which is great. Do yourself a favour!

In the midst of coffee house central lies the penny drop, neatly tucked away. Getting right to the point: their coffee is the BEST in this neighborhood. Hands down. Ive tried the chains next door and speciality coffee shops but the quality of their coffee is top notch. I had their soy flat white and i think i have found my new coffee place in the mornings. It was perfect in texture, aroma and taste. Highly recommend!

This place has become one of my local favs. Friendly staff who remember you and most importantly great tasting flat whites and pastries. It’s also a nice space to sit down for something to eat and I can also vouch for the fast Wifi after borrowing their internet a couple of times for some work away from the office
