What a journey my taste buds had. To begin, the service was sophisticated and straight forward with the staff immediately ready to take care of you. The atmosphere is rather quiet and I expected a little more ambience, nonetheless the service surely made up for it. The food took me on a lovely journey, and I was quite lucky with my selection of plates - if I were you I’d recommend to try these pictured dishes in order. The scallop starter can seem very smoky at times but I enjoyed the unique flavour palette nonetheless. The beef was also delicious - but the lamb trumps it. A person at my table ordered the veal and was not very fond of the taste as it was quite bland. I did take a nibble at the apple tart and became quite fond of it. And surely, the lemon meringue lived up to it’s hype, it was light and refreshing. Although I personally preferred the earl grey tart as I do love earl grey. Lastly, I thought it was a nice touch to see women’s portraits displayed throughout the restaurant, perhaps to represent a feminist essence of the suffragettes? I hope to dine here again as I can see the hard work displayed in and out of the kitchen.

Unfortunately underwhelming – not the experience we had hoped for We were genuinely excited to visit this restaurant after reading so many glowing reviews, but unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. To begin with, we stood waiting for several minutes at the entrance while the host, who should have welcomed us, was engrossed in a chat with a colleague. The interior is indeed tasteful, but sadly, that was one of the few highlights. The food, overall, was underwhelming and overpriced. Unless you opt for the full tasting menu at £110, the à la carte offering feels unreasonably expensive for what are essentially small plates. The portions are more akin to snacks than mains. Service left much to be desired. The waiter seemed inattentive, and the sommelier gave off a certain attitude that made us feel rather unwelcome. To our surprise, the aperitif arrived after the starter – it was mostly ice and fairly standard, certainly not worth the £25 price tag. I’ve paid less for far more exceptional cocktails in top-tier bars abroad. That said, the amuse-bouche was a pleasant surprise – delicate and well-executed. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn’t follow suit. The starter – scallops – was forgettable and lacked imagination. The main (sirloin) was fine, though hard to get wrong, while the onion tart was enjoyable. Service throughout the evening was painfully slow. We waited far too long between courses and sat with empty water glasses for over 20 minutes before being asked if we needed anything further. For a restaurant positioning itself at the higher end of the market, this level of inattentiveness is simply unacceptable. All in all, we left disappointed. For the price point, we expected much more – in terms of both service and food quality. A shame, as the setting has potential, but sadly, the experience was neither polished nor particularly memorable.

Food was unfortunately not to my expectation: scallop/starter/the flavours were well balanced and rich, the drawback is the size, it wasn’t a scallop it was a half of the scallop, I was expecting bigger portion for a starter. Monkfish - would be top notch however too salty. Cod - bland unfortunately, nothing exciting, couldn’t find truffle at all, and couscous on a plate wasn’t necessary… thank you for the anniversary treats though!

I’m really disappointed with my latest visit to Pem. My previous experience here was excellent, so I had high expectations — but this time, the food was a complete letdown. Everything was soggy, lacked any freshness, and tasted as if it had been sitting around for hours. The quality was nowhere near what I had experienced before. It felt rushed and careless, which was shocking given Pem's reputation. The service was okay, but unfortunately, it couldn’t make up for the poor food. It’s sad to see such a drop in standards, and I’m not sure I’ll be returning after this experience.

April 4th dinner. Slightly disappointing. Booked after seeing Sally Abe on Great British Menu but not sure if it was because she was leaving but not as good as I was hoping. To start service was very slow both in food delivery but very disappointing with waiters at the table. We only managed to get 1 drink the whole time as after main course we weren’t visited until we asked for the bill. Steak was chewy, I would have been disappointed with that steak in a chain restaurant. 4 people with starters, main, water, G&T and 1 glass of wine was £342. The quality of the food and service was nowhere near that cost.

Food was very good and beautifully presented but the portions are small. The scallop starter consisted of just one small scallop. Service however leaves a lot to be desired at a restaurant of this calibre especially when it was only half full at 8:30pm on a Saturday. We were poorly greeted, waited an age to get one cocktail menu for a table of 4 and then twice had to ask for extra menus. The cocktails arrived almost simultaneously as our starters ... The maitre d' did acknowledge the failings and removed the cost of the cocktails from our bill; but would have preferred to pay for good service and larger servings.

Delivering the highest standards of fine dining and service, The Pem is well worth a visit for lunch or dinner. The Headchief Sally Abe has recently featured on The Great British Menu, and it is not difficult to see why she is one of the most acclaimed young chefs in the country. My lamb cannon was particularly delicious, as was my lemon meringue, I would recommend both! At £170 a head, including 4 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails, it is on the expensive side but if you have the budget, I would encourage you to experience The Pem for yourself; the food was yum!

We had the Valentine’s menu here. Good food, wine and service, but prices are Michelin star level (while the Pem is “only” mentioned in the guide) and in our opinion not reflecting the Pem’s quality and quantity served. Furthermore, we felt the serving of the courses was rushed leaving little time to digest and consider additional wine options. Our experience overall was good, but we have been to restaurants with a similar or lower price point where we were more impressed about the food, e.g. more innovative concepts or explicit flavours. We certainly were impressed by a number of dishes such as the steak tartar which had an interesting twist (I believe with a type of vegetable mixed within the dish while still maintaining umami-like taste), but other dishes such as the dessert failed to impress. Hence I don’t think we would return.

After watching the amazing food, the chef Sally Abe prepared on great British menu, we 4 decided to go to the Pem. The restaurant is situated in the Conrad Hotel. My starter was fabulous, winter game broth the single hand dived scallop was a very small starter. My wife had the artichoke which was divine, and the duck breast was nice. Two of us had the venison loin which although looked amazing when it arrived was extremely tough and gave you a good jaw workout. I presume venison needs to be hung for a certain amount of time to tenderise I'm no expert. The side of greens was very salty. The red mullet was nothing special neither was the beef, on the whole we were a bit disappointed, we had eaten the week before in a little restaurant in Surbiton and to be honest with you the food was much better at a third of the price. The desserts were good but nothing special and we had four small glasses of wine of which two were a red from Priorat which was delicious. The service charge is 12 1/2%. They also added VAT to the bill which I was quite shocked at.

British food is known as a "food desert", with nothing much to offer except blood sausage, boiled beans, potatoes, and fish and chips. During this trip, I was amazed by the dinner at a British restaurant called "The Pem" recommended by a friend in London. The waiter introduced that the restaurant is named after Pem, a feminist activist who fought for British women's right to vote in the 18th century. Female chefs and female supervisors are also special features of this restaurant. The taste of the dishes is very innovative in traditional British cuisine, and every dish on the menu is marked with calories.

The window seats were pretty for a relaxing evening but according to the staff, it required reservations and were highly sought after. The bar seats and the table just in front of the bar counter should be the next best. As for the drinks, they were solid. Well curated and executed by the bartender. The service was also attentive and overall, I had a good after dinner experience here.

Great food! I started with the asparagus tart and grilled cod for main. Everything was done beautifully with impeccable presentations. Their sourdough bread was to die for. It was very fluffy with a thin crispy crust. probably one of the best restaurant bread I've had! Service was mostly great. Everyone was nice and attentive. The somm though... May be it was a quiet night and he got bored, but he was quite a mansplainer. I ordered a bottle of white burgundy and his immediate reaction was to "warn" me that "this wine isn't very oaky." I responded saying that I know, that's why i ordered it. Then he continued to mansplain how wines are made and what made them oaky without prompt. I'm not sure what about me that made him assume I liked oaky chardonnays, or why he would assume that I don't know how wine was made. Or may be he was just trying to make conversation and kept me company before my friend arrived. Either way, I appreciated his company. But could do with a bit less mansplaining before dinner.

Fantastic food in lovely setting, but somewhat spoiled by the attitude of the sommelier - after politely declining to order champagne we opted to share a bottle of Riesling which seemed to upset him. Had a memorable celebratory lunch at The Pem today with my wife. Food was delicious with the dressed crab and veal tartare going down very well as starters. The freshly baked bread was light, fluffy and full of flavour, made all the more delicious with the whipped cream and oil spread. Mains of perfectly cooked venison and Cornish Monkfish were perfectly portioned and accompanied by tasty veg. Desert of poached pear, crumb, cream and a toffee sauce was accompanied by a glass of South African Sticky. Service was outstanding with attentive servers who were totally dialled in with the diners! Only reason it’s not straight 5s is that while the furniture is comfortable, the hotel decor feels like it needs to be smartened up a tad to meet the standards of the food!

My boyfriend and I came for the Thanksgiving dinner and really enjoyed it!!! I'm American and I must say I was quite impressed with the whole thing. The turkey was absolutely delicious - so moist and juicy. The cornbread was really tasty and a nice touch as well! I loved the decor and I absolutely adored that the food came out to the center of the table so you could make your own Thanksgiving plate. The Pem seems to understand the "spirit" of an American Thanksgiving. Some of the food definitely tasted distinctly British - the stuffing ball wasn't my favorite, which was a shame. Delicious stuffing could be made from just stuffing the bird!! The canapés I also thought could be presented in a much nicer way, but they were quite yummy!

Living in London as an American for over 25 year's I've cooked at home and also tried many so called "American Thanksgiving meals" at many fine restaurants. This evening has exceeded all, even my own cooking. Chef Sally Abé and team created an inventive yet traditional meal to enchant and delight. Hard combo! The hotel as we'd expect from a Conrad is exceptional and the meal as well. All the staff are experienced and professional but the food is the star! Sally Abé is helm at the Pem, who is the 'Chef to Watch' in the National Restaurant Awards 2019. Her foods are full of flavours, not yet Micheline standard, but you can taste her ambitions in the direction. We had Christmas lunch there this year, quite impressed, but there is still space to improve. The service team are friendly, but need to work more on the communications and neat service flow; the wine steward is alright... We are not experts with wines pairing, but we had enough experiences to tell how good wines are paired that impacts with the right dishes which in our experience was not the best example. He selected the most expensive one, but not the best one for our dishes which I understand that is from sale point not always the best to the food that we are eating

I had high expectations given the chef's, Sally Abe's, track record. Nothing terrible, has potential, just not quite as sharp as you'd expect. Food was served even though a member of our party (of 3) was absent, but not poured wine, then it was a bit of a chore to get his glass filled up for a toast, which was a little awkward. Too long a wait between starter and main, and again had to chase up. (not a full restaurant) In terms of food, we were very excited about the wild mushroom souffle, however this starter is more akin to a flan (or sformatino) in terms of form. Not offensive by any means, just not an airy puff of earthy goodness; to top it off, it literally gets suffocated by a dollop of something-or-rather cream. The deer and beef were great, unfortunately we had to ration our last drops of wine as we had already consumed most of it during the post-flan intermission. Wine list, would have liked to see more English sparkling options.

A successful restaurant in the heart of London. The Pem is an oasis of calm with excellent cuisine and a perfectly informed staff. The food was excellent and the service was comprehensive and quick. A real treat in otherwise hectic London

Fantastic restaurant, from the concept to the staff to the food. Great to see British produce being used throughout the menu. Brilliant wine list.

I went there with my family. Everything was excellent. The food was superb with good proportions. The service staff was attentive but not intrusive. Good ambiance and decor. Fabulous bread and canapés too. Will definitively come back.

Unfortunately have to downgrade the review because of the rooftop bar. Reception was lovely to helped us to checked out the room but keep the bill open as we wanna get to the rooftop bar. BUT the staff at rooftop bar insisted us to pay by card immediately which we explained the situation already. They don’t even have the sense to call the reception to double check everything until we asked them to do so. Have to say very disappointed this happened in a 5 star hotel. - Main entrance not grand as a usual 5 star hotel - All the staff are very well trained. (Additionally love their uniforms lol) - The room is impressive even it’s not big. Stylish decoration with all details more than what you would expect in a 5 star hotel - Surprisingly breakfast mushroom omelette. - Much appreciated for the free Moet champagne for our celebration. That’s very sweet. - A kind reminder here the Michelin restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday. - Rooftop bar is chill with lovely seasonal cocktails x
