Not suitable for families. One of the staff yield using bad words at a 3 yo because he pulled some leaves from a plant in the patio. I was already reprimanding him. The use of that language was ineccesary. We left and sure we won't return.

Went to this pub with the knowledge it was a lovely local pub. Oh how wrong I could have been. Our first round of drinks took 25 minutes to arrive, the pub was clearly understaffed. Not only this, but the staff proceeded to charge service on each individual pint ordered resulting in pints costing £7.31 each, with no trust whatsoever the staff charged for every pint as it was ordered without informing anyone that service was being charged with each payment. All in all a thoroughly un enjoyable experience. I hope whoever runs this pub, reads this and reconsiders their policy on understaffing a busy pub which results in a loss of income for you and unhappy customers, and also their deceit in their service charge policy.

Arrived at 6:30 pm, didn't get drinks until 7:35 pm. How can it take that long to serve 4 pints? We asked for the menu, took 25 minutes to arrive so we didn't bother with food. Had to chase waiters for drinks multiple times only to be given the excuse 'we're busy serving tables at the moment'. We were on a table outside in the pouring rain, it seems they just couldn't be bothered to serve us outside.

This place oozes with charm, memorabilia and antiquity. In a convenient yet quiet idyllic turning the garden is a perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. Just dont want too many people to go as part of its attraction is that it is often quiet. Rooms are straight from the set of a period Edwardian drama. I recommend the one with the one balcony, so u know when ur deliveroo driver has arrived...

Was trying to find somewhere to grab a sandwich and/or drink, while waiting for a friend to attend a hospital appointment at Charring Cross Hospital. Stumbled on this oasis on a back street behind the hospital and there was road side parking😁 Very very friendly and welcoming lady and guy behind the bar. Who made you feel very comfortable and safe, by the well organised and one way set up for the current social distancing rules, at this time. Varied and nice lunch menu. It was great to be able to get an amazing chicken and pesto baguette (which was huge and so tasty) and pint of hand pulled IPA..... heaven for lunch. Shame I couldn’t sit in the cosy layout of the Pear Tree to enjoy the lunch. Will deffo go back as and when life goes back to some sort normality. It’s great to see a pub, using their initiative to provide a super community spirit. We should all try an support, our local pubs, cafes and shops.

We went there pre Christmas one evening, 7 of us in total. There is no table service which isn’t the end of the world, but it may as well be when your food doesn’t arrive for 80 minutes. Staff were dismissive and unhelpful. Emailed the manager the day after to offer them the chance to explain, no reply or contact has been received. The fish batter on the fish and chips was immensely soggy. Three of us ordered various burgers out of which two of them arrived with frozen buns. The burgers themselves were ridiculously overdone. Overall the worst meal I have had in the last 8 years since moving to London. Don’t waste your time or money, much better eating establishments not to far from here!

How bizzare it’s legal tender in England ? I’m sure . My daughter had to pay out of Xmas money someone just gave her for Xmas . This place has totally lost its sparkle .

This is a great old pub, really nice cosy atmosphere and great beer, didn't eat but food looked good. Room One was large and fine in a shabby chic way with nice décor and some interesting antique furniture. It was comfortable apart from the smell of cooking which pervades the upstairs accomodation from the kitchen, and the ineffective radiator which doesn't work properly and to compound the problem is behind a panel. The cleaner, bar staff and even chef were great in trying to sort the problem and provide a portable heater - note to the owner need to get radiator sorted out!!!

You expect extras from Oliver! to walk in any moment. The Pear Tree is a remarkable survivor, a backstreet Victorian London pub when everything around it has been demolished and rebuilt in concrete. It's located at the back of Charing Cross Hospital, and it has, among other attractions, a curious open courtyard at the back. Full of character. A real experience.

Boss came over and as I tried to explain he interrupted me and stated 'do you want to let me finish!?' So rude to paying customers!! Clearly realised his error and sent someone up with a bottle but should have brought it himself! Room was ok. Kettle was disgusting, furniture really old and seen better days and the smell of grease from the kitchen made me feel sick. Only saving grace was bed was comfy. Shared bathroom is very dated and needs overhauling, especially when the shower curtain pole is being hung off the light!!. Won't be going back that's for sure, steer clear!!!!!

Guest House: We stayed at The Pear Tree as we were attending an event at the Olympia which was great as it was within walking distance. The room (no2) was very spacious and clean along with the shared toilet and bathroom which were just over the landing. Both of which were very clean. The area was very quiet and even with the windows open as it was warm the noise from the street and pub was not overbearing. As we booked well in advance we got an excellent rate. The gentleman who checked us in was very welcoming and helpful. Restaurant/Pub: The only slight let down we found was that the food and drink in the restaurant/pub was slightly pricey along with a 12.5% surcharge made the meal a bit expensive (which I do understand is kind of standard in London). The quality of the food of the dishes we had was OK but not quite worth the price. Maybe a discount for hotel guests may be an incentive as we would 100% stay in the hotel again in the future but would choose to eat elsewhere. The staff were very nice.

Beer garden was nice. Pub had zero atmosphere. The real issue was food. Never mind the fact that it is distinctly average (coleslaw was warm. Who serves warm coleslaw?), you pay at the bar but there’s a hidden service charge you are expected to pay upfront. It’s ridiculous. They are ridiculous. The little barmaid also had a bit of an attitude (could’ve had a bad day, who knows. It’s difficult being 13, I guess). It took a long time for her to tell us that the price for food included a ‘very discretionary’ service charge. It’s a pub, mate. Unless you take our order at the table, it ain’t table service. Jesus. I’d advise you skip this place and head over to The Colton Arms 4 mins walk down the road. Food is in a different league, as is the vibe, and it’s open later. 12am last orders in fact. You’re welcome.

. . This is a hard review to write because I loved this pub very much. The atmosphere was perfect as we sat next to a lovely, warm fire with wonderful old oriental rugs beneath our feet. The bartender and the waitress were absolutely charming and good at their jobs. Unfortunately, the downside was the food. We mostly got the Sunday roasts - beef, lamb and turkey. They were all very tough. The flavors were just OK and it was real work to get through the meat. Also, my daughter had the fish and chips and the fish tasted like it had been cooked in very old oil - certainly not light and fresh and crispy. The vegan chocolate cake was absolutely inedible. Also, the ice cream tasted like it had been in the freezer for a long, long time. We found the pub in a publication that had The Pear Tree rated as the top pub in Fulham (even though it is really just over the line, I think, in Hammersmith.). It is certainly tops in atmosphere and service, but they really need to work on their food game.

We were told our portions were small (scraps of meat and left over veg) because they were running out of food and had to stretch what food they had left (we also waited an hour for it)! The manager of the pub was arrogant enough to not even apologise and seemed angry that we would even raise these as issues. Having worked in a restaurant kitchen I can understand these things happen, but it was the way it was dealt with that shocked us. Particularly impressive that we all left happy as we're a discerning team that focus on service in our day jobs!! As a small cosy pub, I was impressed that they were able to cater so well for a large group i.e. not having to wait very long until everyone was served each course and no complaints of overcooked food - also came with lots of lovely veg and particularly good cauliflower cheese to share which added to the homely feel. On our most recent visit to London to visit friends we went to this little pub that would take a bit of finding if you hadn't been there before. The board outside said the Sunday Roast was beef or pork so in we went for a nice beef roast sunday lunch . The whole place could probably do with a bit of a makeover and there are enough candles dotted around to worry the fire service to apoplexy however it does exude a certain old world charm and has avery nice garden out the back. They have a good selection of beers and wines and on ordering the roast we were informed the board outside was also out of date and the lunch was poisson or belly pork for a lighter more summery meal. We eventually settled for 1 pork and 1 fish and chips and can say that both lunches were absolutely excelent both on portion size and quality. Yes, very surprising and we'll back another day to sample other items on the menu.

We had a party of 13 ages 9 to 67 for dinner. The first restaurant we went to informed us that they had a busy weekend and were out of half of their menu. A quick search of nearby restaurants took us to the Pear Tree. We dined on the back patio and our waitress, Sienna, could not have been better. The food and service was excellent and we enjoyed it so much we returned the next night for an encore. I would love to ship the entire facility home to the States. Fish and Chips of course but Chicken Kiev, burgers and Shepards chicken pie were also great.

Siamo rimasti deliziosamente stupiti e contenti perchè tutti e tre i piatti erano davvero buoni! (attenzione, il fish and chips all'interno ha le lische!).Per esserci capitati per caso non potevamo scegliere un luogo migliore.Se ricapiteremo in zona ci torneremo sicuramente!

This is one of my favorite pubs ever! It's tucked away on a quiet road and I'd guess that only locals and regulard know it. The decor is elegant and very cosy, they have a fireplace and candles everywhere. They also have Leffe on tap! They serve great food and it tends to get busy on weekend nights. There's a stunning back garden when it gets warmer. If you live locally, it's a must go. If you happen to be in the area - swing by for a pint.

Love this pub - it's my local so it's convenient... but the best thing about it is it's great come wind and shine. The lighting, fireplace and warmth make it ideal for some nice food and a glass of red on a wintery evening (great value food on a Monday night) - and the garden with a little sofa cove is a real sun trap in the summer and has a hippy cozy vibe which is perfect for a Saturday afternoon in the sun. I would really recommend this place.

The pub is great - not too big, feels authentic, nicely hidden from main streets and huge crowds. This said, although it is amazing for a few pints, it might be a bit disappointing if you go there looking for an amazing dinner, in spite of the lovely decorations indoors.

Went to the Pear Tree 10/08/15 with some friends for dinner. This is one of my favourite spots in Fulham - beautiful, charming, place with a lovely garden to the rear. I have always loved the Pear Tree since they converted it, however, our experience on Monday was not good. It was their 'Monday Madness' half price night and we were booked in for 8.15pm which we turned up promptly for. It took until shortly before 10pm before we got our main courses. I strongly suspect that, as well as the fish and chips (that had run out), they had got down to their last chicken curry which my wife and I had. It was very tasty but was quite obviously half a portion. 5 small pieces of chicken spread out across the plate to look larger. Although there was only a choice of 2 puddings, it took ages, again, for the waitress to come back for our order and by then we were some of the last dining: no excuse for it being busy. We got out shortly before 11pm. I love this place but they need to sort out the service. Re: the Monday Madness offer, I'd prefer to pay full price for proper serving sizes and a decent menu choice. Not much point paying half price for half a meal. In their defence, they took service off the bill. Will go there again but will be somewhat wary. Sort it out Pear Tree!!

The food was good but the staff were outstanding, they were helpful, personable and accommodating which made it a perfect evening. We will definitely return with friends. A very charming venue with a decent sized outdoor space located on a reasonably quiet street. The staff were perfectly polite/charming but unfortunately the food was woeful. Neither request was overly complicated - an asparagus risotto and a steak with fries but there really wasn't anything positive about either. Hope it's something they look into and address.

This is the second week in a row I've been to The Pear Tree on a 'Monday Madness' menu. Madness is certainly the word to use! Whilst the food is good, the delays are too long; 40 minutes to bring a bowl of soup, followed by a bowl of chips 10 minutes later is not acceptable. To add 12.5% service charge (including on the drinks- outrageous!) is daylight robbery! The waitress was lovely; very pleasant and constantly apologetic but she shouldn't be put in the position of apologising for a terribly organised kitchen.

I popped in for a quick dinner before work. I came in at 9.07. I was told to sit at the back and that the waitress gonna take my order shortly. It didn't happen. I managed to get another waitress's attention by waving. Finally I've ordered at 9.15! I have told the second waitress that I'm in a rush but got my salad at 9.50! Had to leave at 10 so I just shoveled everything quickly, really messed up my mood for the night! (Liver starter horrendous. 5 small livers on a lump of bread for nearlly 7 pounds!)And cheeky waitress put a service charge on a bill at the end.Dissapointing really.

This was meant to be a birthday treat - and the pub looked lovely from the outside. However, the food was overpriced and the portions of 5 out of the 6 meals were mean. Also - when we complained that 3 of the starters were cold, we were met by a look of surprise and disbelief. The tables are crammed together and there was hardly room to move your arms let alone accidentally kicking the diner next to you when you had to get up. If they spaced the tables out more, pushed up the portion size to match the cost of the food - it would be a better experience.

Romantic setting and cozy environment. Friendly staff. Food is a bit over priced and small portions. but I guess its the price you pay for ambience. Lovely wooden table tops with candles and strategic lighting. Menu is slightly different from your normal gastropubs. Would definitely give it a higher rating if only they improved on portion sizes!

I always like to give the positives first so I'm happy to tell you that the food was good - especially the burgers - if a bit overpriced and tending towards small portion sizes (the "scallops risotto" starter contained a single scallop, for example) and the service on a very busy night was fine too: the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. However, overall this was more of a negative experience than a positive one: when we arrived for our 1930 reserved table, The Pear Tree was heaving and we were effectively seated in a narrow corridor between people standing at the bar and the loos, so there was lots of through traffic past the table. I was the unlucky one in our group of four as I had my back to the bar and EVERY single person who walked past bumped into my chair. To my immediate right was another diner seated at right angles to me but so close that every time he moved he knocked into me too. In the back part of the pub to our immediate left a very large group was having a great and extraordinarily noisy time, which included a huge singalong into their phones. I fully accept that this is a pub in the run up to Christmas and it's fine for people to have a good time. However, some people's atmosphere is another's nightmare, and this experience was certainly the latter for me: the table we were at would have been fine if we'd just been having a drink, but it wasn't fit for purpose as a dining table given the closeness to other people and the constant through traffic past it, hence my docking of a couple of marks.

Look, it's a pretty, Victorian pub in a bit of a desert behind Charing Cross Hospital. Just to exist there and thrive gives it a star in my review. I've been quite a few times now and I recognize some of the negative comments as being correct: it gets manic, especially now on half price Mondays and the food and service has been patchy over the years. Last night though, another Monday, we were lucky. Service was friendly, willing and efficient, with our server even improvising an Irish Coffee which we requested (it was delicious). The London Pride was fresh and slipped down a treat. The food is good pub food but only good value on half-price nights, honestly. The ambiance is so dependent upon the other patrons that they can make or ruin your evening. Tables are close together, so a noisy crowd next to you and your conversation is over. If the service stays as it did yesterday though, we will keep coming back for more.

This is a beautiful old pub with an inviting real flame gas fire. Went with my family of 6. The food & drink’s were served very quickly. We had a combination of six different main meals & everyone was more than happy with what they ate. Five of us dessert of apple, berry & rhubarb crumble & custard which was to die for. Only hiccup was when we arrived at 7.30 there was a live band playing. Now as good as they were & the songs they played, they were rather loud & we had to shout at one another to make ourselves heard. When booking I asked for the quiet part of the restaurant as 4 of our group being 60-+ in ages weren’t to keen on loud music as we’d have to shout over it. But all in all a great pub with wonderful food & hard working staff.
