The landlord of the Peacock came to our rescue, after having booked in the pub opposite for a wedding a mile away. When we were unable to get in having been promised early entry to get ready for the wedding. The landlord of the Peacock was extremely helpful and friendly and got us out of a sticky situation. The Peacock offers Room only - basic rooms but clean and comfortable, and very reasonably priced for an overnight stay. A very large pub garden with parking at the rear.

To be fair there’s only 5 pubs in the town, we were told that this pub is a bit rough and ready, but we always form our own views it was certainly the busiest pub with the liveliest atmosphere we found the locals to be very friendly landlord and bar staff were welcoming a good mix of drinkers, if you like your sports plenty of tvs around we enjoyed a couple of good nights here it might not be everyone’s favourite but we will definitely visit here again next time we are in the area

Very warm welcome and added bonus of the football game on the TV Not one but three games on The only way it could have been better would to have some form of food. Ie sandwich or chips. As a snack Otherwise I would have given it more stars.

Couldn't get a pint at 10pm in town and Pete (a local guy) recommended the peacock and we had a great few hours chatting with John, really good beers and make sure to make time for Bill and Ted the resident Border Collie's... A really good local pub with good beers and all sports on the many TV's no fancy stuff and apparently the pizza is very good.

This is a pub which is aimed squarely at those who want to spend time staring at large flat screen televisions. They are on every wall and if they're not showing sport, they're showing rolling advertising which is impossible to ignore. The beer is well kept but there are several others places in Towcester which offer better. If you want to watch a sporting event, this is the obvious choice, otherwise there's nothing to recommend it.

I was recently looking for some friends at the Peacock. The landlord and guests were extremely helpful and it turns out I was at the wrong Peacock. Landlord helped me to find directions to the correct place. Very welcoming.

Rang to enquire if the England Rugby game was being shown as passing through the area at that time, I was dismissed quite quickly by a grumpy man over the phone who found it too much trouble to open. In his words 'I've opened for the past two weeks and no one came in, so I'm not bothering this week - we don't serve food anyway' Well quite frankly, I'm not surprised people don't go in with that kind of attitude. We'll find somewhere more welcoming!

My friend and I find that it is always a pleasure to go to The Peacock. It is an excellent pub with excellent facilities: it is very friendly and everything is on ground floor level. The pub is spacious and it has a big screen that is great if you want to watch it but if not, the screen doesn’t dominate the whole pub. The pub dogs are absolutely lovely and we say that as two people who can be a bit nervous of new doggies. They are absolutely lovely. The Peacock pub is a firm favourite of ours and it is always a pleasure to talk to Nicola on the bar. She is so warm and welcoming. An excellent pub.

Visited the pub / guest house to watch first 6 Nations rugby tournament England game, and found the pub brilliant atmosphere, no way I could fault it in any way. The people behind the bar and friendly, waited no longer than 2 minutes to be served and I only really drink Stella, and the pint was served to perfection. There are around 5 TV’s & 1 projector screen so they can show either a couple of different football matches, or mixture of football / rugby at the same time. We chatted to other people in the pub discussing rugby, football, & general chit chat and found them all really friendly people

Ok, where to start. The landlord's attitude was appaling. No smile, no hello, nothing. When he finally came to serve me, after a chat or two with others at the bar, I asked for a beer with a good head, he didn't even make eye contact, i can't be sure but maybe there was a hint of a grunt. He pulled the pint with no effort to give me the the beer as I'd requested it. When he reached the top of an awful looking pint i asked him to stop pulling. He just carried on and gave me a tasteless headless pint of ditchwater. I paid, there was no thank you. As landlords go he was the most arrogant and useless excuse I've come across in 40 years of pubs. I run a business and as such like people to succeed, but not him, I'll be glad when I drive past and see a closed sign outside. That there are so many good country pubs closing week on week through lack of custom and this man still earns a living with this attitude beggars belief. JUST SAY NO.

I was totally gob smacked, I have never felt so awkward in my life. I walked out and went to the travelodge not far from this place. We are contractors and we regularly work away from home, I have never met any one so rude in all my life. I'm all for supporting small business's and I would much rather stay in a local b&b but when you walk in and get greeted by a rude, arrogant, stuck-up landlord I'd rather take my money somewhere else.

Visited with old friends who live in the town. No welcome or even eye contact with barman /landlord. Whole atmosphere was unwelcoming, can only think with the amount of TV's in such a small area, the main customers must be locals who haven't paid their TV licenses or have had them repossessed. Not a pub I would care to visit again.

A proper pub, good beer, loads of regular customers, plenty of chat and banter, all sports shown (currently the only pub in town with Sky). I've seen the Landlord smile once so he's not that bad!All you could want from a local's boozer.

My wife & I called into this pub which we had never before visited for a quick drink & not only is it quite scruffy inside, the landlord is probably the most miserable in Britain. On entrance we said hello & were met with a stony silence. When we ordered a drink he told us the price with no please, thank you or anything & when taking payment we got more of the same. We heard him converse with one person so he clearly has no hearing problems & also has the power of speech. When we left we still said thank you & again were met with silence. Quite frankly we were amazed at this display of even the most basic manners & after enquiring in the locality were told that this is quite usual for the landlord. I would strongly suggest you completely avoid this pub as they do not deserve your patronage.

Eggs overcooked. Bacon undercooked. Muffins harder than iron. And zero personality from the staff. With the exception of the guy on the till. The menus are plastic. Which I can only assume (appropriately so) is so they can be wiped clean. So how are they covered in food from the previous day. Tables are sticky. Rarely do I review like this. But the basics are missing.

We were looking forward to coffee here. But despite the cafe being advertised as open on Mondays, it was very shuttered up and very closed. Shame that the website didn’t mention that, as we were disappointed. Perfectly understandable in the current economic climate, but we would have preferred to know in advance.

Fabulous drinking hole, hidden off the Towcester main street. Great beers, lovely staff, excellent live music night and a really good pizza van outside. What more could you want?! Loved it and highly recommended.

Been in many times, since the new owners took over and pleased with the decoration, I haven't eaten here yet, but hear good reports, the big downer for me and most of my friends is that even though the landlord promised and advertises craft ales, on the website, beers like Tribute and London Pride are not craft ales! There is a massive choice of lagers etc, so why not support craft ale producers/brewers? I see many locals in pubs not too far away that have craft beers available, so the EA is losing custom IMHO, I'm happy supporting my local and the pub do the same with local brewers please.
