17 of us ate here for Sunday lunch. We were seated upstairs in The Pavilion and had pre-ordered our food as we were a large group. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious, and stylish which made for a lovely atmosphere. There was a mix up with the numbers, but this was swiftly sorted out by a lady who I assume was the manager. She was so apologetic and sorted everything out straight away without us having made any fuss - excellent customer service, and it’s a shame it’s such a rarity elsewhere. The food was fantastic - beautifully cooked, really tasty, and the portions were very generous. I had the roast beef and the beef was cooked perfectly and there was so much of it! We also had desserts - these were so beautifully presented and again, so tasty and such generous portions. I had the sticky toffee pudding which was probably the best one I’ve ever had. The ice cream on the dessert was also a decent size which I am always moaning about elsewhere when it’s usually a skimpy portion! Sadly I don’t live nearby, otherwise it would be a regular choice, but I hope to be back and would definitely recommend it for Sunday lunch!

We booked the venue for a family celebration and had a superb time. Izzy and the team were so helpful during the planning stages and on the actual night! The food was lovely and the team even decorated the cake for me. We even had enough food left to use for a family buffet the next day. Thank you for a lovely, memorable evening Izzy and team!

We stopped here for breakfast and the place is a lovely place. Outside seating area and good choice on the menu. Beautifully presented. A few negatives, no sugar or spoon offered with hot drinks, no sauce or cutlery offered when served food.

Sometimes we’ve stopped at The Pavilion for breakfast after a walk along the river with our dogs. Today we were turned away at 9.25am as they appear to have a policy for no ‘walk ins’ before 10am, despite their website and board at the entrance stating that they are open from 8am. Safe to say, we won’t be stopping there any more. If a business brings in a significant change in opening hours without updating their website and signage, they shouldn’t be surprised if it puts off loyal customers and gets negative reviews.

My wife, daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea for Mothering Sunday at The Pavilion (within the Hope & Anchor). The food was excellent with a great selection of both savoury and sweet choices and lovely tea brewed in a proper teapot. The service was exemplary, the cost was very reasonable and we were given plenty of space to enjoy our meal without any sense of time pressure. We even enjoyed a nice walk by the river after our tea. It was a real treat and we will definitely come again.

I have to say we watched the pub renovation from day one. Lived in Ross on wye for the last 23 years and so sad 😭 to see it unloved. But hey Harry and his wonderful staff have bought this place alive. We come here most days after we have walked our Shih tzu Ruby to have a coffee and the staff are brilliant so friendly even the doggie biscuits. Please please keep our local xx

Paid £10 each for a breakfast, 3 of us eating, nobody in the cafe, now I know why! Breakfast was awful, potato rosti drenched in oil, bacon not trimmed & dry, a whole tomato not even cut only cooked on one side, as was the sausage, toast just plonked on top. NOTE TO SELF, if it’s quiet there’s a reason why!!

Lovely little place to stay. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Room was quaint and quirky. Fantastic atmosphere in the pub/restaurant. And the food, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Best 3 course meal and breakfast we’ve had in a long time. 100% will be back again whenever we are next in that part of the country.
