The outdoor setting is beautifully done with lots of space for social distancing, well sheltered by design, with a retractable awning and lots of effective heaters. The staff were professional and friendly and the food was fine, though notably not memorable. We ordered bubbles to celebrate a surprise announcement and were charged a fortune - unsurprisingly I suppose!

I was privileged to enjoy a meal at Parson's yesterday evening, their first day of reopening after lockdown. We enjoyed cocktails and Guinness to start, followed by hot spicy wings, pesto flat bread and the sharing platter of fish delights (superb combo of smoked salmon, pear and rocket). This we enjoyed in the evening sunlight overlooking the Parson's 'new' view over the lake at Hillsborough Castle. As the evening drew on, it was a treat to be bathed in the heat of the multiple outdoor heaters which kept us all toasty! Mains were a delicious collection of pizzas (goats cheese recommended), steaks, burgers, onion rings, and risotto. I'm booking in again today so that I can explore the desserts! I'll report back in!The manager, Anthony Bezzina, chefs and staff are to be highly commended and rewarded for the hard days of work invested pre-opening, and serving us all so attentively on Reopening Day. I'm sure the Parson would be impressed!Thank you,Fodhla, a local Hillsboroughian :)

Ordered on Thursday morning for Saturday pick up (takeaway meals , due to Covid) they were out of stock of sirloin steaks - don’t they get a delivery on a Friday or Saturday?? - YET on arrival to pick the meal up on Saturday, they had fresh steaks for sale to cook at home , anyway back to the review of our meal x 4 Prawn cocktail - really small portions for the price paid Chicken wings - well cooked & seasoned Burger- ok - but my choice was a sirloin Hake & crab risotto- hake was tiny , I’m aware it’s a pricy fish , but to get a piece the size of a matchbox was pushing the boundaries Lasagne- pretty good was the returned verdict A footnote on your container choice - you need to use a product that can be placed in a domestic oven to keep warm - pointless ordering a takeaway, when you have to decant your main courses into dishes to keep warm , one dish & two sides delivered in EPS boxes , that are not suitable to place in an oven , and are certainly not recyclable isn’t acceptable Remember that once lockdown is over & you go back to normality, you can justify (only just) prices charged - but your overheads are far less on your takeaway offering- either give value for money or slightly reduce prices - you will want us back in droves once we can

We ordered food to be collected. Collected the food and were home in 5 minutes. The portions were miserable in size. The steak was the cheapest and poorest quality of meat. I really will never be back this is the second time I’ve had such poor quality food.

I'm not one to write a review but after a long tough year for all involved and what I consider to be an excellent restaurant I wanted to leave some words here. After hearing positive things about The Parsons Nose we decided to book; from making the booking through to leaving I must say this restaurant/pantry/pub is a hidden gem and well worth a visit but truly, it is the staff that has made this place special. A special mention to the Australian or maybe New Zeland gentleman who both was accomodating in my table request as well as helping me choose a gift from their lovely pantry (Very knowledgable) but also not to miss our lovely waitress who although did not know the answer to my menu question (I'm coeliac), she straight away made sure to find out and had my meal personalised to suit my needs. Food definitely a highlight all around, gin cured salmon was a delight and so was my feather blade. My only criticism is that I feel I was limited in my choice because there were no gluten-free pizza options, but alas I might be being too picky. Overall a beautiful place to eat with great service standards and food as well to pair. Thank you all for bringing some normality to a not so normal time.

The food was very disappointing. We had asked for 2 pizzas, sole & a pasta dish. The pizzas came out cold and had to be sent back, the sole was completely filled with bones and we weren’t made aware, didn’t send back as we had waited so long for it to come. We had an extremely long wait between courses and for drinks, we even ordered 2 rounds of drinks at once as it was that bad. It was supposed to be a really special celebration and it really wasnt. Sorry we chose here! Wont be rushing back & still waiting a response to a message I left 2 weeks ago now. Bad customer service.

My friend and I dined here on a wet miserable Wednesday lunch time. Since I last visited, TPN has installed a small food/gift shop as you enter where you can buy deserts, baked goods as well as wine and spirits. We both started with the goats cheese salad, very heavy on the goats cheese and light on the salad leaves and beetroot. The honey drizzle tied everything together nicely. The pepperoni pizza was really good with a thin chewy crust. For dessert i had the panna cotta, which was delicate and served with a light tropical sauce and finely diced pineapple.

This was our first visit and we were very disappointed to be seated at what must be the worst table in the place even though we had booked weeks in advance. We were seated just behind the till in a wind tunnel opposite the door to the beer garden and in front of the restaurants main entrance door .,We asked our waitress if we could be moved and she brought the manager who very abruptly told us the restaurant was fully booked and this would not be happening .even though several tables around us became vacant and remained unoccupied until we were leaving .My 80 year old husband was forced to eat with his coat on .The soup was good but my scampi and my husband's main of pork belly were very overcooked I had a main of lemon sole and it was very nice. We did not stay for dessert or coffee as we were very uncomfortable due to the draughts from both these doors In particular the door to the beer garden which was in constant use .Although the staff were wearing masks the hand sanitizer at the entrance was empty and the one on our table had the dispenser broken off and there were a large number of flies on the Perspex screen behind my head .The restaurant were offering their own eat out to help out scheme but even the £20 discount of our £73 meal would not entice us to return

I visited The Parsons Nose for the first time today. My reservation was for 1 pm, but I was an hour early. They accommodated me with no fuss!I was shown to my seat and given a menu very promptly. The restaurant was only half-full during my visit - so distancing was easy. I was seated in a booth, with plastic screens on both sides of me.After my order was taken my meal was served in around ten minutes. I had Battered Fish, Mushy Peas and chunky Chips - all cooked superbly! It was attractively presented and the portion of fish - was large!I had a Chocolate Brownie, containing walnuts, and served with ice cream - for Dessert. It was delicious! The waiter and waitress were personable, friendly and efficient. The restaurant had extended its offer of £10:00 off per person - for the month of September - so my bill was for £14:10 instead of £24:10: A bargain!Hygiene was of a high standard; all tables had a spray bottle of antiseptic - and tables/chairs were thoroughly cleaned once customers left. All staff wore plastic visors. A variety of seating arrangement was provided - all very comfortable. The restaurant has both ground and 1st-floor restaurants - with an outside (covered) beer garden. Downstairs (ground floor) is wheelchair-friendly.Highly recommended.

And I know good ingredients, good cooking, presentation and service. Let me focus on just one dish, the Salt & Pepper Scampi with proper Tartar sauce. The fish was super fresh, I could tell by smelling it and the texture, the seasoning was perfect and the crumb coating was excellent (I’d actually love to visit the kitchen and see how they make it). BUT the sauce, was genius! Best variant on a Tartare i have tasted. I put it on the salad leaves after. If anyone’s complaining how i spell Tartare it should actually be spelled Tatar after the Russians where it came from (via France).

Went for our first date night since February to the Parsons Nose after hearing stellar reviews from friends. The interior setting is lovely and much better equipped to deal with COVID than other restaurants, which made us feel safe. The food was good, but I think we had set ourselves up expecting better. It might seem mean, but I left questioning what the Michelin star was for. Don't get me wrong, the food was good but for the price and all the awards displayed at the door I expected more. The staff were attentive, courteous and all wore masks. The beer and wine selection were great. One major downside was the beer garden has no lighting, however given it would attract drunks late at night it's fair enough. Will be back.

We live local and regularly visit Parsons because it ticks all the boxes for us - delicious food, great drinks selection including cocktails, a fab beer garden and friendly staff. It’s great to see the safety precautions Parsons has taken as a result of the pandemic there is adequate spacing between tables, hand sanitisers on every table and staff are wearing visors. I always feel very safe! Additionally, Parsons have recently opened a lovely Pantry which is great for gifts and to treat yourself! It includes spirits, wine, various meats, oils, fresh croissants and buns (best caramel squares you will ever taste!) etc! I particularly love the spirit collection especially the small batch gins and whiskeys! Thank you so much to Anthony who was able to excellently explain to me suitable wine pairings and help me find a new whiskey suited to my tastes and it was fab! Unfortunately for about the third time over several months we have been left underwhelmed by the Parsons Nose. It used to be on our list of favourites (there used to be an amazing manager called Kate). Our most recent visit on Saturday night was appalling in terms of service. We ordered 4 starters and 3 came. It seemed like a kitchen error as the waiter had taken the order and read it back to us correctly. After mains we sat chatting and after about an hour realised no one had come near us. I walked to the waiter's station and asked if someone could come and take a drinks order. When the waitress came to the table we also asked for the dessert menu, which we had never been offered. Alas we were told the kitchen was closed!!! The Manager did come to the table and apologised, and she did take breads and one round of drinks off the bill. Unfortunately my advice would be keep walking until you get to Hara or the Hillside.

Mid way through our main course I had to leave the table to ask a staff member to take a drinks order, at this stage I was fuming but the staff seemed not to care, a blank stare when i complained. Where to start?? Arrived for a table booked at 2.30pm to find the people before still hadn't finished. Cramped round a little table with 6 adults and 3 children while we had to wait. Finally at our table and ordered our food. Starters came out in reasonable time and were ok. That's where it ended.50 minutes later we are still waiting for the main courses. They eventually arrive. 1 was cold , 2 were incorrect. After the member of staff rolled her eyes and reluctantly took them back - attitude was terrible. The dish that was cold arrived back to the table... Cold again!! When we advised the waiter he used his hand to check the temperature and insisted it wasn't cold! We had tasted the dish and it was stone cold. He argued with us it was warm- disgrace!! Eventually the plate was taken away as we weren't prepared to wait for another dish as the rest of the family where already eating and we had waiting so long in the first place! The rest of the food left nothing to be desired- rock hard vegetables and dry potatoes! Also the staff forgot a drink that was bought at the end of the meal! We are so disappointed at this experience and still had to pay for everything bar the meal that was cold! Terrible service and shocking food we will not be back!

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate mum's birthday. Selection of food was great and our waiter Mike was exceptional! We were not rushed and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.... One of the nicest afternoon tea experiences I have had.. 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We recently visited The Parsons Nose, based on good reviews and recommendations from friends. Unfortunately we were left hugely disappointed with the meal and the experience. Having ordered goats cheese parfait as a starter, I was presented with a small slice of goats cheese with a quartered tomato. No flavour, no effort and no good. I sent it back and ordered another starter ( I was charged twice). Main course of pork belly was equally terrible. Over cooked, dry and flavour dominated by a concoction of sources and burnt edges. Overall felt like the cooking lacked effort and/or care. The fish special was equally clumsy that my wife ordered. Save to say we didn’t risk desert....

An impromptu visit to this lovely restaurant for lunch. It is about a 10 min walk from the castle just on the outskirts of the main centre. Over 4 levels we dined in the lower seating area. Lovely outside area too. Menu has a good range of options and we chose fish and chips which were very yummy. Lovely batter and proper chips! Prices were reasonable too. Definitely recommend and would love to go back.

I am very fortunate to be able to visit this lovely pub/restaurant when I am over for work. Every single time the food has been amazing, so tasty, creative and well presented. The service is also fantastic with really welcoming and helpful staff. Also in the colder months there are log fires which are wonderful. I cannot praise it highly enough!

We had a great Sunday afternoon at The Parsons Nose, there is 3 course menu and it has everything you would want on it, they have a few local beers on tap and a tasty Italian beer too. The staff were friendly and seemed relaxed, the only thing for me was the coffee could have been much better to match the food & beer, il be back...

Visited this restaurant for midweek lunch. The place was very busy and we had quite a long wait - wouldn't do if you were in a rush - however the food was absolutely delicious. I am a coeliac and enjoyed a fantastic gluten free fish dish. Will definitely be going back!

Booked the parsons nose following my sons graduation to celebrate the special occasion with all the family. There were almost 20 of us including children and we were so looking forward to a lovely meal. However we were sadly disappointed. It was well over an hour before any food arrived and when it did some of the orders were missing and some of the group felt the portion sizes were very small. Service was extremely slow and poor with no apology when we asked about the delay with the food. First time at the restaurant for many of us and probably our last.

We both enjoyed this restaurant where we had my birthday meal with a 7 o'clock reservation (which is essential during busy times). There was quite a good range of food options available on the menu to cater for a wide variety of tastes. The food itself was very good; luckily I had a very good wine to hand when a sneaky little piece of particularly hot chili pepper that was on my pizza escaped my attention! Wow! Took my breath away :)

Visited the Parsons nose for my birthday lunch. Small issue with table. I had booked a particular table which we didn't get on arrival but were given different table upstairs. It was fine and we were treated very well. Our waitress Olivia, was superb, attentive, smiling, offered advice when asked and always available for anything we needed. The manager, Anthony also was brill. He was the reason we returned for my birthday. he had been so pleasant on our last visit, very interesting to speak with, attentive and helpful. Of course the food as always was excellent. A great way to spend your birthday. Cant wait to return.

The food in the Parsons Nose is good not remarkable, it used to be better but there’s just a feeling of it having gone down a few notches, as a previous reviewer pointed out there was a lot of flies in the room, we were served room temperature Rosé wine and over cooked fish very basic things that are easy to get right...

We received vouchers at Christmas for this restaurant and this was the first time we have been able to use them given the difficulty in getting babysitters so we were really looking forward to our evening. We arrived just after seven and were seated in lovely surroundings. We ordered our starters and mains and there was a bit of a wait before our starters arrived. The really helpful manager came over and explained that the gas had went off previously in the evening so the kitchen was running slightly behind. Our starters arrived and they were delicious so we were really looking forward to our main course. For main I had ordered the steak and my wife had ordered the cod special. My steak arrived and it was really tasty but my wife's cod had arrived and it was slightly cold. We told the server about this and she took it away and replaced it. Again there was a bit of a wait with it being replaced and I was eating while my wife was waiting as I didn't want my steak getting cold. The cod came back and this time it had no potato so the server had to take it away again. By this time I was basically finished my meal and my wife had not had anything yet. The cod came back for a third time and this time half was cooked lovely and half was undercooked. Given the time it was now and the fact that I had finished my meal quite a while ago my wife did not want to try a fourth time and just ate the half that was cooked. We had to go as it was now 9 o'clock and we had to get back to our babysitter. The server asked if we had enjoyed our meal and my wife told her about the cod and how after 3 attempts she was only able to enjoy half of it. The server gave us a simple sorry but I don't think it was really genuine. I don't even think the server told the manager about this because earlier in the evening the manager had been really helpful when explaining about the wait so I am sure the manager would have at least came over herself to apologise. We paid the bill which was over £60 and only included two soft drinks which was quite expensive when considering my wife never got to enjoy a main course. Not sure if we were just unlucky on the evening with the gas going off as other friends and family had recommended the place so unsure if we would return.

We tried the Parson’s Nose just now for a nice Sunday lunch on a friend’s recommendation. Unfortunately i’ve left feeling extremely disappointed with my main. Firstly the service overall wasn’t up to standard- we were ignored when we walked in the door, left to stand about and wonder where we asked for our table. One staff member came to the desk where we stood and took a menu from a drawer and walked away, without even saying ‘i’ll be with you in a second’ which would have been courteous. We had a short wait for our table (unexpectedly when you have a booking which started 15mins ago) but this was totally fine. We waited for an age to order while staff members cleared empty tables which weren’t needed for other groups, we were almost about to ask to order it was that long! The starters were lovely and dessert was also beautiful. The main however left a lot to be desired. We both had the sirloin, which i was advised was served medium. I’m a huge fan of medium beef so this sounded great. My partner ordered it medium-well done and i scoffed at how he was ruining it. I was an idiot. My meal arrived and i could instantly see how rare my meat was, unseared on both sides (not sure if it was cut from a larger piece of meat, i should hope so!!) but lukewarm at best and completely rare. Not medium whatsoever but as it was already slathered in gravy i ate it anyway as I overheard staff tell another table they had now run out. It’s honestly left me feeling a bit queasy. The roastie was so far cooked that it could be used to break a window and everything was just generally quite cold. The cheese on the cauliflower was congealing it was that cold. I’m disappointed as other people’s food looked lovely, but i just couldn’t enjoy that meal when it wasn’t served as described. A real shame, but we definitely won’t be back.
