The Parcel Yard has gone to meet it's maker. It has climbed up the perch and snuffed it. If you want a drink here you need a TARDIS or a Time Machine. No beer here I'm afraid!

The Parcel Yard is Permanently Closed - in about June 2023. My local friends said it was the best real ale pub in Leicester. Apparently Netwrok Rail want to change the station entrance & it’s been applied for permission to be demolished. For reasons best known to them, the owners, Steaming Billy Brewery, still has an active FB page for it and TripAdvisor says (in Nov. 23 !) that it’s open but “not very busy”. Try the Marquis Wellington, Everards pub 139 London Rd., 1/4 mile up London Rd. from the Station, heading away from the city centre, on right before Victoria Park. Great ales & food, lovely old Edwardian interior & four summer-houses in the garden.

I love the place had a great new year's eve there a few years back.I believe it is being demolished to allow the railway entrance on Station Street to be returned to its previous location. The Port Cachure on London Road will become shops.

Architecture wise, it’s definitely a sad loss that this institution will be gone. Service wise, I’m not sure. We queued up, waiting at the bar to be served, and then one bartender totally skipped us for a white lady behind us. But she was a lady and asked us if we were served yet cuz she knew we weren’t. 🤦🏻♀️ If I knew I had to bid farewell to this place on this note, I probably wouldn’t have come!

A cavernous downstairs bar, beer garden, and odd nooks on the way to the exit. Right by the station. It was entirely devoid of the atmosphere, but I did visit on a Wednesday afternoon. Beer was acceptable.

Love this place. It doesn't look like much from the street entrance next to the station, but once inside you're greeted with a modern and spacious look and feel. Xmas meal we had yesterday was the worst I've ever had and cost £30 for 3 courses, almost twice as much as I had paid for 2 other group Xmas meals at Keepers Lodge and Hobby Farm (Hobby Horse). We were told they had lost their chef the day before but no-one contacted us prior to us arriving for the meal. Where we were seated it was so cold, it's the first time I've worn coat and gloves to eat a meal. Several others also kept their coats on. Food took ages to come out, people were eating main course without gravy as that came out quite a while after the food. There were 3 or 4 roast potatoes on the plates, they were so small and thin if you stacked them on top of each other they didnt equate to the size of one normal sized roast potato. Food wasn't hot and I gave mine back and asked them to warm it in the microwave. There were so many complaints we were offered free drink each, most of us had a hot drink as we were so cold. The best part of the meal was the cheese board, but you can't really go wrong with that and the whole meal wasn't worth more than £10. This pub should stick to pub food. The only plus points are the venue and staff are nice.

I guess all the good reviews are from staff or regulars. We went in. My Dad 79, sister 55 and brother in law also , after getting off the train. I have been here before the pandemic, so it was my idea to stop off there. As with the last review we seemed to get served last for our drinks, yet people just walked in and grabbed a drink under my brother in Laws nose. The staff didn't even acknowledge him. We got our drinks eventually and went outside where we thought it would be pleasant, but wow! were we wrong! Not long after we settled into the dogs cage, that once was a peaceful patio, we suddenly joined by a group of people. Who literally began behaving like kids. Laughing and shouting so loud we had to shout over them to just chat. They were soon joined by others. It became unbearable. Singing as loud as a football crowd, screaming and dancing about. They knocked over my drink, with no apologies, and made my Dad feel so uncomfortable that we just left and didn't order any food as planned . My sister did try to complain to a member of staff, but was told not to worry, they are regulars and they won't make us clean it up! What a cheek! The doormen were polite, but perhaps they should be keeping their eye on the patio. Controlling the noise and thuggish behavior of their regulars.

Went here for the real ale and enjoyed the Steaming Billy. The service was spot on from very friendly staff. We went and sat in the far room wher the dartboards are so we could have a quiet drink. This was spoiled, not the pub's fault, by one of the only other two people in there. Not only was she loud but she never shut up for the time we were in. How she managed to breath I don't know. And it was only four p.m.. We left after 10 minutes. We will go back though.

Entered on a busy Saturday early evening and stood at the bar and waited patiently be served, lots of gins and cocktails and long drinks that take ages to pour, I only wanted a pint of ale, so I waited and waited and waited patiently again and again and again until then observing other punters waltzing up and being served immediately at which point I decided to depart. Please sort your bar staff out Billy! Albeit the Security staff greeted me in and thanked me again on my way out.

We had tickets to see the Leicester Tigers play the weekend and pre-booked 2 booths at the Parcel Yard. Although the place was super busy, the staff (Tara & Sophie) were really helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. We had pre-ordered food which came out on time and was great, a few in our party had the steak sandwich, others had roast beef and everyone was impressed. Good choice of beers and great selection of gin. Big thanks also to Eanna for booking for us. We will definitely be doing this again when we visit Leicester.

Over from Nottingham by train for comedy at The Y Theatre across the road on East Street. Friendly welcome from the barman. Good range of drinks, particularly gins, but only Bad Apple or Somersby (from memory) cider on draft. We were slightly peckish and so had the duck gyozas and the veggie ones, which were very good texture and flavour. Decent value given the quality. Having the screens showing the train departures in real time is very helpful and we relied on them for timing our departure when we returned after the gig before our train.

Called in here as I was staying in an hotel close by. I was impressed by the range of real ales and the service at the bar was very prompt and very polite and helpful. The vegan burger that I had was really good and tasty and after being told that there would be a bit of a wait it arrived very quickly. I could have done without the background "music" but that is probably just me...... It was a place that seemed to attract quite a pleasant crowd. Certainly a place I would return to when I am next in Leicester and of course it is perfect for the station.

Having read good reviews and seen the Parcel Yard enter CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide I decided to wait for a later train from Leicester to have a pint to relax after a stressful journey. However, on getting to the front door around 20:15, I found it bolted shut. The male staff member inside just mouthed something and waved me away, so I pointed at my watch and the sign on the door confirming the 21:00 closing and got a shrug, and something unpleasant mouthed at me. At this point a female member of staff appeared and again just waved me away. With all the chairs up on the tables and the pub empty it’s clear that they had closed about a hour early. So, having missed my train, I headed to a different establishment where I received a warm welcome, a nice pint and was not made to feel like I was an inconvenience to the staff. I’m sure it’s a nice enough place if they can be bothered to actually stick to the advertised opening hours, but I for one would recommend not taking a risk and going elsewhere. Avoid.

We went here for a pre-gig dinner as it is conveniently for our hotel and a nearby a cab office. There is a good range of beers from their own brewery and also plenty of gins. Both our burgers were good and came with chips and a small salad. The coleslaw was a bit disappointing though. Food service finishes a bit early at 7.00pm and the whole place closes very promptly at 11.00 as we discovered when trying to get a night cap on our way back at 10.55.
