The Palmichael in Kettering

 We’re were warmly greeted with a lovely welcoming smile from Maria, owner and restaurant manager. It was 6.15 on the Friday and the restaurant was full. We were given a table by the kitchen door and next to the food service station. Not my choice but the only table left. However, it provided me with an opportunity to observe the qualities of the food service team. A very smart looking brigade, well dressed in the nicely colour coordinated uniform, with their long hair tied back neatly. They smile very easily and worked well as a team supporting one another to ensure they met the target of turning tables round quietly without fuss. Maria provides them with an excellent smiling role model of all aspects of food service. The menu has a wide range of dishes to suit everyone’s taste, broken down into traditional Italian style headings. The prices are reasonable and did reflect the quality of the dishes offered. The portions were of a good size, served at correct temperatures and well presented ….and above all very delightful to eat. The reviews are right! Palmichael is a first class restaurant! We look forward to returning soon. Thank you.

Been here twice now and what a place! The food is absolutely gorgeous. Can recommend the lasagna or the chicken in white wine off the lunch menu. The second visit was in the evening and can recommend the crab gnocchi or the mozzarella in carrozza for starters, and you must try the lobster ravioli!! Can't wait to go back!

Had a great time here last week. I love Lasagne and have had it literally all over the world, especially in Italy. The lasagne I had here is the best I've ever had. Thanks and well done guys

Had a fantastic dinner at The Palmichael recently and will definitely making another visit. So glad to have found somewhere nearby that does great food and the service was fabulous too.

Booked here for Mother’s Day I wanted to leave a review because I’m usually to lazy but the food,service and atmosphere was amazing so I had 2 ha ha ha the starters were lovely and my main the lamb was the best lamb I think I’ve ever had everyone loved all 3 courses and the tiramisu was out of this world. My partner also said the cocktails were great thank you palmichael for a lovely day see u again soon

We visited this restaurant on Christmas Eve and it was fantastic! Not the cheapest of restaurants but the quality of the food absolutely made it worth it and I would recommend to anyone looking for a treat or somewhere to have a celebratory meal. I have a dairy allergy, which sometimes makes eating at Italian restaurants difficult but this restaurant has several vegan options. I opted for the bruschetta, vegetable risotto and the brownie. All of which were delicious!

We visited for a prebooked meal for a party of 9, the service was good but we did have to prompt to order side dishes but the staff were very good and efficient. The food was excellent, I have had many steaks but the fillet I had was melt in the mouth. Portions were very good and everyone enjoyed their meals. Not the cheapest meal but worth every penny for a special occasion. The place was very busy and rightly so, we will go again.

Love this place. Its the only restaurant where my son will eat all three courses happily which doesn't happen anywhere else! Lovely food, Lovely atmosphere Will be back this weekend!

Lovely quality food well presented

This is a great spot for a lovely Italian meal, great service, pleasant decor and furnishings. Warm welcome on arrival and quickly seated with menus and drinks sorted. We went straight to mains, the lasagne, fettuccine ragu and two of us had the special, cod with mussels in a chardonnay sauce - lovely flavour to the sauce and beautifully cooked fish. Two of us went for tiramisu, the cherryaholic had the creme brulee with morello cherries and ice-cream for my sister. A lovely meal and great service throughout - thank you :)

The vegan/vegetarian menu offers a good choice of vegan friendly meals that are absolutely delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is immaculate. We had a bit of a wobbly table, but our waitress was absolutely lovely and answered any questions we had with a here to help attitude. The prosecco is vegan friendly, too, which is a bonus. A lovely meal out at a gorgeous restaurant. We'll definitely be going back.

This is my first ever negative review on Tripadvisor. I will add, I can’t fault the food or the drinks. However , we sat next to a couple that out of the blue used profanities and told us we were speaking too loudly. The man actually squared up to my boyfriend who was sat down at the table, after we said we were talking at a normal volume. We are most disappointed with how this was dealt with by the manager(the owner). The manager had no authority and we later found out the man was a regular at the restaurant. It was our first time at the restaurant and we won’t be returning for this reason which is a shame, given the food is lovely. I would expect a bit more authority when customers had been so rude to us and ruined our experience - which was also my birthday. If it was my restaurant, I wouldn’t have been comfortable knowing 2 people left my restaurant feeling very uncomfortable and upset. The manager didn’t seem phased by the fact a customer had verbally abused us.

Great food been going here for a long time, never ever had a bad meal. Service is good, food amazing.

This is my second visit to The Palmichael, this time being a New Year’s Eve lunch out with family. This place never fails to disappoint me. The staff are friendly, the surroundings are enjoyable, as well as extremely tasty food, full of flavour! If you like your Italian food, you need to give The Palmichael a try. We’d recommend the pasta dishes!

This was recommended by a work colleague and so glad we visited. They managed to accommodate us even though they were super busy just before Christmas Light airy restaurant, plenty of space between the tables. Loads of staff , all quite young but super helpful and efficient. The menu is comprehensive, plenty of choice and very reasonably priced with a great wine list to match. It was probably one of the best Italian meals we’ve had. The food was delicious. All freshly cooked , and beautifully presented. Service was efficient and friendly. From the welcome we received when we arrived until we left. If you’re in the Kettering area don’t miss this great Italian restaurant.

Went for lunch in this small nicely decorated independent restaurant. Has been going years but seems to have moved with the times. Nice service from the outset. All cutlery served by servers in white gloves. Nice touch. Proper cotton napkins and marble tables. Food was excellent. The seafood platter for two really tasty. Variety of main courses but would recommend the fettuccine con gamberoni. Desserts excellent too even if you want one scoop of ice cream. Usually served in a dish on its own. Here it has a wafer tube and cumquat on the side. Makes it look so much more. Definitely will go back. Enjoy

Having been recommended this restaurant our only disappointment was we had never been before. The food was fantastic both in taste and presentation but what stood out most was the staff. It was great to see a young team that has been trained in traditional values . Well done to the whole team and will definitely be back soon .

The pan-roasted duck with its rich red wine jus, accompanied by roast potatoes and broccolini in butter with a hint of chilli, was cooked to perfection. My wife's homemade lasagne was a testament to authentic Italian cooking - each layer oozing with flavor. For dessert, the crème brûlée and lemon tart, paired with lemoncello, were the perfect end to our culinary journey. It's rare to find such a gem offering such exquisite food and friendly service right here in Burton Latimer. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a taste of Italy in the heart of the town.

My wife and I artived with out booking but they have a table aviable for us The man in charge show us tho the table explained the spetials and was very friendly and helpfull. They toom our order and we din't wate log before the food was at the table. Must say the tiramisu is the "best" I have ever tested. Will recomend to our friends by the way it was our first time here never disapointed 5 out of 5 🙂

Four of us had lunch on Saturday 23rd Sept 23. This was our third visit this year. The food is absolutely fantastic and great value compared with local establishments. All of us loved our meals. The staff are very friendly and attentive (but not overly so). The décor is classy with plenty of space between tables. We will all be going again and I highly recommend you try it. Well done to all of the team and a big thanks from us.

Excellent quality food with good service. Only downside was the draught caused by the air conditioner and the background noise, but then again it was a Friday evening so understandable. Update on 16.09.23. Following a refurbishment, the background noise has been significantly improved to the point where it's now possible to have a decent conversation without having to shout! Well done Palmichael! Food and service are unchanged - both excellent! We had (another) lovely meal.

We were seated outside as we had hoped. Service was great We had Skcollops with blackpudding for starters delicious I had Lobster ravioli and my partner had Seafood platter with garlic bread also delicious Very friendly atmosphere staff are very welcome and pleasant Definitely recommend

This is a really good restaurant which has maintained its standards for years and offers reliable gluten free options for coeliac sufferers. Service etc is immaculate, though the place, recently refurbished does lack a little character/atmosphere. Pricey too.

I would certainly recommend this restaurant. It doesn’t look much from the outside but don’t let that put you off. It’s fantastic!! Beautifully furnished and the food was sensational. We had the fish platter and lobster ravioli, and it was served beautifully. Having been lucky enough to eat at some top fish restaurants, this was up there with the best. The service was attentive and the young waiters and waitresses were polite, and the uniforms were smart but not old fashioned. They also knew the menu and worked well as a team. I was impressed it was fully booked for a Wednesday night and being able to book via Google was so simple. This place is relaxed, but has a nice ambiance with decent clientele making it a sophisticated atmosphere. Thank you for making my sons birthday memorable. The facts: for 3 to eat starter and main course with 2 soft drinks and one beer : £120 Parking: ok, mainly road or in the church which is tight and not for a nervous driver. Outside has no bearing on the interior so don’t be put off. Worth paying for as it’s a great food experience.

Our party had such a wonderful time. The food was of the most excellent quality and served looking as good as it tastes. Staff were very friendly and brilliant. We were 8 adults and all plates were cleared.

We all had a lovely time and many different items off the menu. It's very pleasing to say that I have never seen so many plates completely cleared. The food was excellent whatever you order. Service and atmosphere all matched the superb quality of the food.

Went for a friend's birthday. Great food and service.

Food was tasty when we finally got it. We went in at 5pm as we have a young child. We were the only table there but service was slow and order was wrong we waited 45 mins and only 2 of 4 dishes were right. We then waited anther 20 mins for food we had to eat fast as our child was getting tired. In the background could hear staff talking badly of previous customers and how they complain. Not very professional in my opinion. The food is nice but service was a let down. Shame!

Nice place , good food , may need to consider the seating plan slightly as it's not a very relaxing when you have staff constantly walking behind your back into a staff area.

Only Italian in area so book in advance to guarantee seating. Great food, attentive staff lovely cocktails. They even do a little plate with happy birthday or congratulations etc and some shortbread if you are celebrating anything special.

We went to celebrate our 44th anniversary and as always everything was superb The duck dish was cooked to perfection as was my wife's carbonate. Thank you to all of the staff as their service was excellent

Excellent, the food is just superb from the starter to the main and desserts. Even the waiting time in between was nice the portion sizes were spot on, food was served piping hot on hot plates (detest food served on cold plates) the service and the staff was impeccable. This is some of the best Italian cuisine in the area. Varied menu,not had a bad dish or experience here to date. Wine list is brilliant and the staff are really pleasant.

Had a good meal there on Monday 17 January staff were friendly and service quick, mind you there were only 4 people in the restaurant including us. Should have checked my bill thoroughly as noticed later we had been charged £7 for a glass of wine which we didn't order. I have emailed but no response which is a little disappointing. Update, have since been contacted and refund will be given which given that I hadn't checked my bill on the day is great customer service.

We've been going here since 1980, and seen many changes. The new decor is lovely, although I still miss the hanging fish nets 😂. The food was delicious, my only complaint was the sautéed potatoes which let the meal down, they were not up to the usual standard, oversized, undercooked and bland compared to how they used to be.

Meal was lovely as normal. If you are seated at the table by the front door you will find it is cold as the door is opened and closed. We asked to be moved and so did the people seated at the table after us.

Food was good, but other places serve the same for half the price Service was excellent, but the atmosphere was very disappointing. Could not hear what my date was saying, it was so noisy. Left early and had dessert elsewhere. Not what I expected for the price. Won't be going back

Truly superb food. I had scallops to start on the special and lamb main. Both were just superb. A brilliant restaurant that has moved with the time over many years of me being their customer. Always busy and we last went on a Thursday. Looking forward to dining there again.
