Took my daughter here for a lovely meal. The food was absolutely delicious cooked to perfection. The waitress Eileen was amazing, very polite, attentive and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant. 👍🏼

We ordered a takeaway from this restaurant and really enjoyed the food. The Lamb Karahi (my go to Indian dish) was as good as I’ve had anywhere. The Goan Fish Curry made with halibut was excellent, as was everything else. They even let our fussy daughters order a dish which wasn’t really on the menu! The service was also excellent and very friendly. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Beautiful food served in a relaxing environment, not as busy on a Saturday as it had been in the past. Our waitress was so excitable and spoke so quickly and seemed to be rushing around everywhere. All staff were very pleasant and friendly. Some items were not available on the menu and the only non alcohol beer on the menu was not the best choice, but it did not spoil the evening or the experience.

We visited The Palm for the first time yesterday evening with our family for our Grandson's 18th birthday. We were greeted by a very friendly guy who led us to our table. The restaurant was spotless! The decor fabulous and when the food arrived it continued to impress. There was a varied menu and everyone in our party enjoyed their choices. All the staff were friendly and attentive and the evening was enjoyed by all. We will definitely be back! Just fabulous!! Thankyou to all concerned.

Lovely staff and food above and beyond

Myself & husband booked a table at the palm indian restaurant yesterday evening this was our first ever visit here as we had heard a few good reviews in the pass first views on the restaurant when we walked in was good very clean and looked nice we was showed to our table and felt very rushed to order drinks & starters and main within a few minutes of sitting down first the drinks order my husband ordered a coke for himself and a Malibu and coke for me when the drinks arrived there was two large cokes in pint glasses with ice and a glass with just straight Malibu in we had to explain that we had ordered a Malibu with coke not a straight malibu the lady apologized and went off a brought back a bottle of coke so l could add to the Malibu then for starters we both ordered chicken tikka we asked for fried onions only and no salad with the chicken tikka on both the lady came back and said no chicken tikka and started pointing at stuff on the menu saying and telling us to order certain other items like platters which we didnt want l then thought well if there is no chicken tikka my main dish would have to be changed as l had ordered a chicke tikka so l explained this to the lady she said wait l will go and find out she came back and said no its fine we have chicken tikka at this point we both was very confused one minute they didnt have it then next they did l felt we was only told they didnt have it so we would order the platters that the lady was trying to get us to order as they cost more anyway starters arrived chicken tikka fried onion and covered in salad which we did say NO salad on both however we could be bothered at that point to ask to change it as we had already been messed about and had waited long enough for our starters to arrive chicken tikka was nice but very small portion then for the main we ordered one chicken tikka madras and one chicken tikka masala and two mushroom rice when the main arrived the both curries was correct but our mushroom rices was different mine did look like and taste like mushroom rice but my husbands didnt his had lots of lentils in it and looked completely different from mine and tasted different as well so not sure what we ended up with the curry was ok but nothing to shout about mine was very bland my husband said he has had better madras curries so again nothing to shout about didnt like how we ordered two nan breads and they arrived cut up in triangles and all placed in a dish together.There was a older gentleman wearing a blue suit l belive he may be the owner he was going round standing over everyone's table he didnt speak to them he just stood there staring which was very off putting and very rude our bill was nearly 90 pound it was probably the worst 90 pound we had ever spent to be honest especially after we had travelled there .we payed the bill was not offered a hot wipe for our hands or given a chocolate mint first ever indian restaurant were we was not offered this believe me we have been to many and we have payed less but still given hot wipes & chocolate mint and we have even been offered a drink or coffee on the house at the end but not here the only good thing about the evening was the company will not be returning or recommending to others.

Great old-fashioned Indian - always met with friendly service and super food for the price

The Palm is my favourite restaurant. I went there on Sunday evening with someone who had never been there before, and they were very impressed. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the spacious restaurant has a great atmosphere, it is spotlessly clean, and there is plenty of parking. My special thanks to Aileen John and Ankit for always making my visits so enjoyable.

No one to meet or welcome upon entrance, had to wait 5 minutes before someone finally come. Then the food, had high expectations. Both curries ordered very poor and bland. Think they mixed up our orders. Wife always has bhunna but neither tasted like one and the one she was given tasted like the one I ordered. Disputed at time but said correct ones given. Anyway both not nice and one of the worst I've ever had, like I would make at home. Ordered 2 peshawari naans at slmost £10. Got 6 small thin slices between us. Inside nice with atmosphere but the food awful. Recently visited the berj Wanborough where food gorgeous. Sorry but on this showing will not be returning, very disappointed!!

Charming service from Eileen and nommy food

Went for Mothering Sunday. Among other dishes, had the Nisha Chhingri (lobster/prawn with saffron, hint of ginger and coconut) which was marvelous. None of the spice flavours was too strong and all the different flavours came through. We get to the restaurant once or twice a year. This was one of our nicer visits.

Went in for a big family meal last week. A small waiter kept on asking what we required. I told him on four occasions that we were not ready, but he kept asking. When the meal eventually came out, the rice was lumpy and undercooked and everybodys meal tasted exactly the same...The chicken was coated in the same sauce, for everyones meal. We felt disappointed and rushed by the little man. The whole experience was a total disaster. If It wasn't the fact that this was a birthday party, we would have comeneted.But we really didn't want to embarrass the older members of our party. Needless to say we will most definitely NOT return.. Undercooked food, basted in the same sauce and lumpy undercooked rice, followed by a very small rude waiter... SHOCKING!!!!

The Palm is becoming our go-to lunch place for busy pick-up days from the nearby college. When the town is packed full, the Palm is an oasis. Alice and her husband offer kind and attentive service, and the food is delicious. The Korma is a highlight. Dinnertime the restaurant is very beautiful as well.

This place has gone very much downhill. You used to be welcomed, now with a few tables full in the restaurant we waited 10 minutes to get our menus for a take away, the food portions are small and overpriced, chicken overcooked, and not authentic at all. Sweet flavours in all the dishes which is not Indian food. It’s become arrogant and takes advantage of the fact that there is little competition. Zaika in Marlborough is way better. Not going back.

Aileen was the best waitress in the world, so kind and very welcoming and helpful. I hope to see her next time i come to the Palm!

Wonderful food, as great as always. Friendly, considerate staff. My aging father (63) was serenaded with some free birthday cheesecake. Lucky he has such a considerate son to help appreciate it with him.

We visited the palm at dinner time on a Sunday afternoon with friends. We were greeted when we arrived and seated promptly and our drinks order taken whilst we awaited for our company to arrive. Service was first class from the start and maintained throughout the evening. They sell draught or bottled cobra which is perfect, all served ice cold. The food was absolutely sublime, especially the crispy squid. Would really recommend to others and we look forward to visiting again soon. Highly recommend the tiger prawns here too very fresh and good quality produce being served!

Great family lunch. Tried some new dishes and they didn’t disappoint. Fabulous food, great staff and truly looked after very well. Will be back soon.

We had a table of 11 booked for a friends catch up. Excelsior service from our very friendly waiter ankit. Food was a little delayed to come out which I put down to the restaurant being busy. But when it did come out it was piping hot and delicious. Always great to have split bills when going out with friends, makes it so much easier to pay Thanks again we will definitely be back.

We had the most wonderful lunch at The Palm this Sunday with the family. Delicious meal with a great range of dishes to choose from. Word is they have just taken on a new chef - so hurry down and try for yourself!

Food is the best Indian food I have ever eaten, a must for any food enthusiast.

I visited with some girl friends. Drinks were flat so had to ask for new ones and that one wasn’t much better. Food came out and the korma was think and lumpy. I only managed to eat my garlic nan bread and chips. Very disappointed so won’t be returning

We had another visit at this wonderful restaurant last month. We were greeted really warmly by their wonderful friendly team of staff and the food was excellent. This is a restaurant that when you visit you feel that you have been somewhere special!

A very cold restaurant both the seating and the room, we all had to keep Coates on. We had chicken lollipops as part of the starter and they were too rare to eat. The jalfrazi lacked real taste. The rice had all the cloves and cinnamon sticks everywhere you were removing them along with cardamon pods. Nice staff and a lovely looking place, but seriously I think a different chef at lunchtime to the evenings if the reviews are to be believed.

We went for my wife’s 60th Birthday , We were welcomed into this beautiful restaurant by friendly and very efficient staff. The ambiance in the restaurant was really relaxing. The food was amazing , we had a table of seven with some fussy eaters but everyone was really complimentary about the food . Good drinks selection. This is probably the best Indian restaurant I have been to for all aspects. The main one is the staff who were amazing all night and couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating.

Lovely food , good service , best nann bread I gave had for years

We arrived with no reservation and they found us a table which was nice. Took our order and recommended food which was better than I usually order! Food was delicious. Drinks were very slow which was a shame but overall a great visit. Thanks 😊

The food was amazing however the service was appalling. The waiter would cut you off and walk away.

This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in Wiltshire. Every dish was cooked with authentic ingredients and very flavoursome. The only thing better than the food was the service. We were welcomed by Aileen who could not do enough for us and made us feel special. We left feeling we had made a friend and wished every restaurant had someone as good as Aileen.

Food was delicious and lovely place. Also great service when we arrived. Would have given it 5 stars however service getting drinks and to pay the bill etc was particularly slow, lots of staff around but a lot of them are unable to serve you.

It’s was amazing place to be in, lovely stuff around and food was really amazing. We were served by Aileen. She was really awesome, best service till date by Aileen. Very kind lady. As well there were two more guys don’t know their name but they were good two. Will definitely visit again.

We love this place. The food, the restaurant itself and the staff are wonderful. The only downfall for us is it’s nearly too far away but worth the trip every time! The last time we went for a birthday occasion. There were about 8 of us plus a few who joined us for a drink. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The palm special is my go to dish but every dish I have tasted there has been lovely. I usually love onion bahjis however the ones here are not my favourite but as for everything else - the popadoms and spicy ones, the naans, curries, rice dishes and wine are fantastic. We are already planning our next trip. Thanks to the staff at the palm for making our nights there very enjoyable.

Beautiful setting! Stunning restaurant. Service was impeccable. The staff were attentive and friendly. We had starters, I was so surprised how fresh the Squid was! I had the Goan Fish Curry that was beautifully rich. Would 100% return.

A real shame we used to love this restaurant. Something has changed. The restaurant used to be top notch and now its mediocre! The menu has changed along with the excellent staff, possibly a change of management? The food is still good but not excellent. The staff are polite but you feel very hurried to order drinks, almost as soon as your seated. The facilities are super clean and the decor creates a perfect ambience

Saturday night, had booked. Didn't get sat down for 35 mins after arriving. Was given stale complimentary poppadoms. Didn't receive our food until 90 mins after arriving. Food was not good at all. Don't understand why people rave about this place, my experience was terrible and the food was very disappointing. Will never go back.

Came here with family and our booking was at 7.45pm. We didn’t get our food until 10pm! Very poor service from start to finish - no one to greet us at the door, asked for a drink in the bar but was rushed to our table. Took 25 minutes to get popadoms. And then the meal that took hours to arrive. When it did it was cold. The Palm used to be so good and somewhere you’d want to travel to, but not anymore. I would avoid!

The service is great from start to finish and the food is delicious we are still in the process of trying a different dish each time we go so difficult to give a favourite each time is a lovely treat and if I had to say I would most likely say the palm special is delicious

This is a large, palatial restaurant, tastefully decorated with tables thoughtfully arranged. The waiting staff are all stylishly attired. The food, however, was very hit and miss and the service disappointing. The poppadoms were tired, the onion & courgette bhaji's, whilst very tasty were rather over done to a crisp. My husband declared his chicken chat delicious. My prawn shashlick dish, whilst very nice and spicy, was lack lustre in presentation, spartan of the vegetables it should have come with and wasn't served to the plate. A hot sizzler dish was just left spitting away. This dish usually comes with salad as standard, but here salad comes as an extra for £3.50. The bhindi bhaji, again full of flavour, but stringy. Drinks and starters arrived quickly main courses did not (we wondered if they ever would!). It appears we were not alone. Several other diners also complained of tardy waiting times and missing dishes. There were plenty of staff but they all seemed so chaotically busy that getting their attention was impossible.

Superb. Right up there with the finest Indian restaurants in the world - delicious meat, full of flavour, spices, amazing smoky aubergine. What an absolute treat! Thank you.

Very disappointing service!! We booked a table of 15 for a 40th Birthday celebration. Took 30 minutes to take our drinks order- wine arrived to table uncorked and no glasses. Coke priced at £4.95 for a pint were all flat. Took over an hour between serving our starter and main course . Dishes served to table at separate times meaning some guests had their curry but were missing the rice and vice versa meaning dishes were cold before the full meal had arrived. One of the naan breads came at end of meal. The food was not bad but the service ruined the whole dining experience. It’s a shame as the restaurant itself is modern, clean with a nice ambience. Our bill was over £600 with service charge added! I would avoid and book The Burj in Wanborough if you want excellent Indian food and service!

We stumbled upon the place while in the area for a drop off. We only tasted the vegetarian options. Ample parking, good ambience. The starters were quick and tasty. The food was fantastic. The management team seemed to be working well as a team and getting the orders out in time. They did apologise for a slight delay in our mains. The place was fully packed showing lots of regulars. Good food, fantastic service and pleasant people. Will visit again.

We were a table of 11 who visited the palm last night. I will admit I am not a lover of Indian food I don’t like spicy however, the food was excellent, and was a perfect blend of flavours. The service was also very good could not fault either it is expensive water was £ 395 a bottle in and for a pint of Diet Coke, what is £4.25 each for gin and tonic was £10.25. Also be aware that they place a service charge on the bill of 10% .

Stunning food in a lovely contemporary restaurant. They will happily make you a bespoke dish just to your requirements too!

The Best Indian Restaurant that I've eaten in for some time

As a first time visitor to this restaurant I did not know what to expect but on arrival we were immediately greeted and given a warm welcome. The restaurant was very clean and stylish, the menu is a mixture of old favourites and new dishes along with palm specials plus the option to customise the dish of your choice, I myself opted for the palm special and my partner ordered a bhuna and they where both equally delicious. The cocktail menu is equally as varied and pleasing I myself opted for a vodka martini with lychees and it did not disappoint,.. The whole night from start to finish was lovely, the service was amazing, Aileen & Karina were charming will most definitely go again.

Great service and staff. Great food. Our daughter’s birthday and they provided a surprise cake at the end. A wonderful final touch.

Food exceptional let down by the service. We had booking but on arrival no one to greet us. Waited five minutes and then had to go and find a member of staff. Then while I was still finishing of my starter waiter turned up with empty plates for the main and said our main course was ready! Then after finishing main waited some time for someone to ask if we wanted deserts. Went for a coffee and brandy then settled bill. Then left of our own accord with no one around that noticed we had left. Like I said excellent food from the kitchen shame I could not say the same for front of house.

Everything great about the restaurant. Can’t believe Oxfordshire has such high quality Indian restaurant ticked away in countryside. Awesome ambience. We were served by fantastic host Eileen. She also made special cocktails for us. Very courteous and welcoming atmosphere. Great food. We will definitely go again and again and highly recommend it.

Fab food and service- I keep coming back!!

We had expected a great meal given the reputation, but it was average and far too expensive. We had poppadoms and then a shared starter for £20 that was 4 small bites each of prawn in a soggy coating, beef, chicken and to be fair, an excellent onion bargehe. Certainly not worth £2.50 each. Then a lamb curry special and a mutton curry, ok but nothing amazing. Over £100 with the beer. Also it rained through the ceiling into our seating!

I'm updating my 5* review to a 3*. I go here almost twice per month with different sets of old friends, and have noticed over perhaps the last 6 months the standards have noticeably dropped. Last night was particularly bad (08/09/23) the service was off - 30 mins before they came to take our order. I also had a Shashlik that wasn't sizzling hot, was missing tomatoes and one piece of the chicken was so hard and gristle-like that I couldn't eat it. At £150 for 3 people these things shouldn't be happening. We don't mind paying for good service and good food, it's why we've been coming here for so many years regularly; please get back to where you were this time last year ASAP in terms of food quality and service! We had been recommended by friends and decided to give this a try to celebrate our wedding anniversary. What a fabulous place! We had a wonderful evening from start to finish. The staff are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and all of them went out of their way to make sure we had the best evening, we felt like VIP'S! The food was amazing, plenty of choice on the menu and exceptional presentation and flavours. The outside of the restaurant belies what you are met with when you go inside- very unusual classy design and decor. We really couldn't recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be going back ourselves. Thank you to everyone who made our evening so special.

We moved into thatcham a year ago never knew this restaurant existed. All we have here is takeout we was recommended here. We was not disappointed we will be back. What I liked is all Indian restaurants have stopped the sizzling plate for chicken tikka but this restaurant had it. Fantastic lovely meal we will see you 31/7 for another meal

This was the first of what will be many visits in the future. The restaurants decor is wonderful, this coupled with the amazing staff who are incredibly attentive and cheerful The food to top it all off was incredible. The best Indian meal I’ve had. Hats off to the chef.

My mother and I have dinner here frequently. Most often our server is Aileen. She is very friendly, helpful, and she creates delicious mocktails for us using a variety of fresh fruit. The restaurant has very nice vegetarian options that are delicious. Everytime I have eaten there, the food and service was consistently wonderful. And the environment is elegant and relaxing.

Booked yesterday for 06:15pm dinner, arrived early (05:45pm), first in the restaurant , asked for a cocktail to be served in the bar lounge, and waited and waited and waited. Eventually had to ask for a cocktail menu. Meanwhile 4 other diner families arrived, were...

Very disappointed as we took friends and had to wait 1hr 45 mins for main course. The starters were exceptionally poor only 2 prawns for over £8 with no garnish . Main course tandoori mixt grill over cooked and tough . Other mains were nothing...

My experience was a mixed bag at this place. I recently visited this restuarant over the weekend, and overall, it was a delightful culinary journey. The flavorsome dishes served here left a lasting impression on my taste buds. However, I must admit that our food took well over an hour to be served at our table, and this did mar the otherwise enjoyable experience.

Karahi was nice but £4.75 for a nan bread no bigger than a spoon and not as good as you get from a supermarket. Taking the P

I arrived early and was offered a selection of mocktails to chose from whilst I was waiting. I chose the strawberry daiquiri which was lovely. The service was excellent they were very patient whilst we made our selection offering some great suggestions. The food was very tasty. We will definitely be returning soon and I look forward to trying out the watermelon mocktail.
