lovely relaxed atmosphere in this licensed cafe on a campsite and very good food, large portions too. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices reasonable. Really can't fault it. The campsite was a different matter, one of the worst I've ever been to. So stay somewhere else but pop into the cafe, they deserve your business.

So pleased we are the 1st TA review 📝 of 2023. After trying 2 times to visit it was 3rd time lucky , the paddlers return is what it is , lots of memorabilia, a rustic decor , we ordered 2 full breakfasts washed down with mugs of coffee ( free refills ) . Penny the chef 👩🍳 russled us up 2 hearty breakfasts just what the doctor ordered. We loved our brief visit to the Paddlers Return we will spread the word and we will be back.

Great food and beer, fairly priced. Lovely staff. I almost always meet old and new paddling friends there. Because the food is cooked to order and The Paddlers is small and personal, service can get slower if it's very busy - so settle in for some good craic and another Snowdonia Ale while you wait.

Not the easiest of places to find, even with a sat nav but persistence (and some locals) saw us arrive at what looked like the set of Western mining film. The pub/bistro is located in a ramshackle building with decor that included a wall lamp created out of driftwood, Two oars that must have come out of the old slave ships and a kitchen bell to summon the waitresses. The bell was hanging in the bar and consisted of the bell with a dolls leg suspended from it . A cord was tied to the foot, wound it's way around the wall and into the kitchen where, no doubt, Chef gives a tug on the cord to make staff aware that a delivery was required. All in keeping with the zany feel to the place. The Menu was pinned to a notice board and I reckon it probably changes daily. Order at the bar, service was pretty slick and the two staff took it in turns to check back. Got the feeling that they really wanted to ensure we were happy with our food and not the 'mandatory' check carried out in most places. We had chicken curry and lamb curry. Chicken came with popadum and lamb with naan. Both dishes were excellent and tasty. Good hearty food. When leaving, we realised that this seemed to serve a caravan park hidden in the hills behind. Fascinated by the number of kayaks, wetsuits, canoes etc yet saw no sign of water. Wider exploration of this area needed methinks so hopefully go back. In summary - a quaint, zany and must visit venue with great quality food and true customer oriented staff. Just don't look for frills but enjoy the experience. Brilliant place.

We were a group of 26 hungry outdoor lovers having our Xmas party. We were given a separate room so our fancy dress and laughs didn't interupt too much other diners ;) We were very well looked after from the minute we stepped in - drinks were served swiftly, everyone was given glass of water and then food started arriving. We provided them with pre-ordered choices and they asked each table who was sitting where. This meant I was able to switch off and enjoy the night and didn't have to worry about food arriving, who was having what etc... such a little touch but made a massive difference! Food was delicious and portions huge! So large some members that never struggle to finish a meal were defeated! Well done chef and the team! I never made it for cooked breakfast but heard it was delicious too!

We were in Trearddur Bay for the weekend and we thought we would try the Paddler's for an evening meal as it was only a few minutes drive form our hotel, the Blackthorn Farm. The Paddler's is attached to an outward bound/water sports centre and in the pitch black of a November evening it feels quite eerie to be driving down a dirt track to find it. Once there, however, one is met by a quirky and friendly atmosphere. On the evening we attended the bar was very quiet but I can imagine it could get very lively in season. Excellently keep local cask beer at a reasonable price together with excellent quality and reasonably priced home cooked food made this a cracking find.

Unexpectedly excellent food here at really reasonable prices. Menu changes daily and is great value home cooked - we stayed at the camp site (also great value, good service) and had every meal at the pub - a Moroccan style lamb, a chicken jambalaya followed by apple crumble and a lasagne, each served with a nice salad (salad only 50p!) and each meal was really yummy. Good sized portions, well seasoned and well cooked. I would eat here every day with no complaints! We went as a couple but it's a good place for friends and families. There's a pool table. Over and Over and over again, we return. Never disappointed, always more than satisfied constantly looking for an opportunity to recommend and share this gem of an eatery. The palpable excitement as the scrap of paper with that days specials is passed from the kitchen and is begun to be written up on the board. The suspense as the chef pops his head out to add a last minute amendment. Rule of thumb, two meat dishes, one fish and a vegetarian, if you are really lucky there could be an inticing dessert too, just to push you over the edge. There is of course the ever present menu, which is not to be overlooked, whilst you may be disappointed that some of the specials have sold out, do not think you are getting second best with a Paddlers, Zorba or Ghandi burger.Best tip, get there early...6pm to have the full choice of specials. I have visited this establishment for over 10 years when visiting the area to go kayaking. Until recently, it wasn't known for good food as far as I was aware, so I thought I'd give it a try. On a Friday evening I ordered a vegetable curry and at £8, it was well priced. It was possibly the best vegi curry I've had and I've been fed by a number of vegan friends that pride themselves on being good cooks. I was particularly interested in trying a fish dish, as someone recommended the fish stew in a previous review. So I returned the following evening, but again there was no fish dish on the menu, other than 'posh fish & chips'. I queued at the bar, placed my order and was about to pay only to then be told that at 7.40pm the kitchen wasn't taking any more orders as they were too busy. This was followed with 'They may be taking orders again in about 20 minutes'. The way it was said didn't inspire any confidence. Then I was told I could have a burger from the outdoor BBQ with no vegi option, but that wasn't what I wanted. Although there were plenty of customers, the place was nowhere near full. So although the meal I did have was very good, it would be hard for me to recommend anywhere that you may not get served after travelling to get there. Maybe it's possible to make reservations, but it not the kind of establishment you expect to have to do this.

This place is FANTASTIC.You know how most places you go these days are soulless, barren, bleak, same old/same old, and completely lack character? Well this is the polar opposite and a real hidden gem!Whether you are a local, a holiday maker, a "practically local" chap or just 'lost in Wales' - you will be made to feel extremely at home here. The bar is well stocked, full of choice and always manned (something many larger establishments seem to struggle with around here) and the menu is updated daily. The food seems to be locally sourced and cooked fresh to order, nicely priced too!I almost... *almost* didn't write this, and I have the terrible feeling that one season I'll pop in for a drink to find the place overrun with the Cheshire crowd - but I simply must urge you to visit for some food, or just a drink. A truly splendid establishment, quirky decor, friendly welcoming staff and a never ending ( unless they sell out!) array of daily freshly cooked specials - typically two meat based, a fish and a vegetarian choice. We visited half a dozen times and only ate off the main menu onceTry it, my guess is that you too shall return!

The Paddlers Return is just fabulous. The staff are welcoming and can't do enough for you. The food is excellent & reasonably priced. Above all the atmosphere is second to none & that is why we 'return' time & time again.

After a heavy day trekking up mount snowdon me and my friend thaught we would relax and have a few beers (10-14). Food was going to be a possible option later on in the evening but we were told in no uncertain terms it was eat now (at 7pm) or never because the chef was going home when the last order came in .... We had the chicken curry which was good but not great . The real gripe was the place got busier and busier and food was still coming out at 9pm 2 hours after the chef was meant to have gone home . The lady relaying the info was overly pushy about the food at 7 pm upsetting my friend due to this i wont be back

Quick service, especially between courses. Tasty food, the sea bass I was told was lovely and the Padler burger was tasty with generous portions. They even do a nice mocktail and a good selection of home made puddings. A great place to eat and drink.

Stayed at the campsite for the second year running with 4 other families. Asked about whether we should book for 10 adults and 10 children in our party the team couldn't be more accommodating and offered the use of a yurt with a log burning stove. We gave our orders early and were in place by 7. Food arrived promptly with cheery service despite having to come over from the main restaurant in the pouring rain. Food excellent, kids satisfied and had a great time in the cosy yurt.I've used the main bar also a number of times as I visit a few times a year with and without family with a dive club. Great atmosphere and good beer.Everyone I've been with has never had a bad word about it.

We recently visited the paddlers to remember my uni days when we used to come here after staying at the ASSC alot has changed and for the better. The choice of food was brilliant and the specials board looked very inviting, we tried to order a special but they had run out. It was busy ish when we arrived but did not expect to wait that long for food. I managed 5 pints before it finally came out and they were just two burgers. Two great burgers mind you but the slowness of the service let it down, we would have returned another night but felt we may go past the point of hunger should we be waiting that long again.

Ghandi burger was truly delicious and worth every penny of my hard-earned £7.50p and my other half says the chicken curry was everything a home-made curry should be, hearty and flavoursome. The welcome was as warm as the life-saving log-burner in the bar on the cold and torrential night when we visited! We will definitely be returning there. It is a pretty wide menu and the pint of Betty Stoggs ale went down a treat. There's wi-fi and a pool-table. Other than us 2 damp refugees from nearby campsite there were regulars of all ages and kayakers from the adventure centre nextdoor and other campers too - great atmosphere. Food service is until 9pm.If you're on Holy Island don't miss this little gem.

The staff could not be more friendly or efficient. We turn up with a large party unexpected and they could not do enough to ensure we were all happy. The atmosphere in the bar was great a mixture of locals and holiday people. The entertainment of live singing getting everyone involved was great. Would defo recommend a visit.

Popped in for a coffee after a walk along the river which the cafe patio overlooks. The river walk is recommended. The local heritage exhibition ( back of the cafe and upstairs) is really interesting and well worth a look. Very good value cakes and...

Pre dinner drinks on balcony overlooking open golf course and countryside with the Menai Straits in the background are ultra relaxing. The Service is excellent and the choice and quality of food are to a high standard.

Going on the strength of other reviews, we booked a table in the dog friendly area of The Crown. Having had and a 2 hour walk beforehand, a well deserved refuelling stop. Quite chilly in that area of the pub. Cheap lunch menu. Specials board more expensive. We had Scampi & fries, small battered cod & chips. Both came with peas. I had much higher expectations and was disappointed in the portion size(5 scampi pieces). Would consider giving it another try sometime, go in the evening and dine in the restaurant area. Pay the more expensive dinner prices, in the hope that the food would not be cooked from frozen and the portion sizes would be satisfying.
