Really tasty food and great for small appetite. Only downfall is with a small appetite its not often I leave a restaurant hungry after having a main meal. As nice as the meal was didn't feel it offer good value for money so probably wouldn't go again.

Great venue but time constraints on ordering food so check before you go. Had the trio of small plates, very good.

1st visit at this great pub for a Sunday roast. Foods were superb 👌 😋 amazing dessert 🍨 our table server was very good . Will come again

Came in for lunch with my partner today and was served by the lovely molly. Had a lovely relaxed meal that was cooked to perfection. Couldn't manage a dessert but I'll 100% be back for one next time.

Staff are always friendly and atmosphere is good, but last night it was freezing - the heating was off and they didn't have the fire going - disappointing and uncomfortable. Winter isn't over yet!

Saw this place was only a 4.1 on Google and was compelled to leave a review to help the score get to where it should be…more like 4.8. Food was amazing, staff super helpful and we were even allowed to bring our 2 small dogs in which was brilliant. The Sunday roast was amazing, the crackling alone was worth a 10/10. We were served by Bailey who was attentive but not at all pushy, very friendly and helpful and seemed able to keep on top of the tables he was waiting. The pricing of the food is a little high, but to be honest, the quality is worth the price, so just visit less often and appreciate it’s a treat to come here. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Stayed nearby and fell upon this place on the Friday night that we arrived. Great outside space and roomy inside. Friendly staff, we hadn't booked but was lucky to get their last table. Parking available

1st time visiting with 4 pals on a cycle ride , having been informed of a recent refurbishment. We only ordered 4 coffees & a tea ……. But when served, noticed 4 of the saucers hadn’t Been properly washed ( tea/coffee stains ) …….. but also, ‘low tide’ levels of coffee. I went in & politely informed a young waitress. She said she’d get someone to sort. A short while later , another waitress came out to ask what the issue was , I explained. She took the coffees ( no apology ) ….& returned shortly with clean saucers & a full cup of coffee. An attitude was obvious ……. So I asked if there was a problem. I was told “ well, the coffees were low because we’d been drinking them !!!…… surly attitude , no apology …….. so 5 disgruntled customers ….. NEVER to return. Unbelievable. That waitress needs a stern talk from the management on attitude. !!! Ps I ran an international company for 30 yrs & would not tolerate this from my customer facing staff !!!

Firstly we felt very sorry for our waitress. The service from the kitchen was appalling and it took 2 hours for six of us to have a simple one course lunch. Food was very disappointing, cold chips cold sauce badly cooked vegetables and stale bread with a salad which was okay. It would appear that there are not enough staff but would have been good to tell customers about delays. Tables of two or four came and went while we waited. Ended with awful coffee which in the end didn’t matter as all we wanted was to leave. Given a discount but would have very much preferred a good meal and service. Sadly won’t be visiting again

What can I say having read reviews I wonder if I got the right Oyster catcher, staff were very good the food however was awful, two 7oz fillet steaks well over cooked & not bigger than your average burger, beef bourganion was just a fatty mess, the fish cakes were fine, did complain at the time staff were very good apologised & discounted the bill, will not go back.

I love the setting - all that rustic look is just very best that I want to see! Also food was good. Worth to get there!

Nice pub with friendly service in the bar and restaurant area. Food is really good with a great choice. Large outside area with plenty of seating some with large umbrellas and some have overhead heaters. Good car park. Always a nice pint of guiness and good choice of beers and spirits.

Went today to celebrate my husbands 60th. Great few hours spent there. Food amazing and so tasty. Really good value and all the 16 people said how much they loved it. Thankyou to Meg and the team for making it a really memorable experience. We loved it all. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Lovely welcome from Bailey, and excellent service from him throughout our meal. Food was yummy. Would definitely recommend the Oyster Catcher Climping and will be going there again very soon.

First visit and overall disappointed. Sat in the main bar area and ordered food via the bar, the server at the bar was friendly and informed me I couldn’t use an offer code as it hadn’t been 6 hours since it was sent to me, even she said it was “sneaky”. She advised the food would be about 20 minutes but we ended up waiting just short of an hour with no communication to explain it would be longer. When the food arrived the server placed it down and didn’t ask if we required any sauces nor did anyone come back to see if everything was ok with the meals. Beef short rib bourguignon at £25 was pretty tough and didn’t fall off the bone as you would expect from a slow cooked rib. Lamb skewers were again tough and were advertised with slaw and mango and pineapple salsa. The slaw was a pre packaged carrot and cabbage mix that you buy in a supermarket with sweet chilli sauce sprinkled on top. No pineapple and mango salsa with lemongrass dressing. Maybe because we were seated in the bar but we had no one ask how our meal was and we even asked at the bar to speak to someone but after waiting 10 minutes we decided to leave. The pub looks great and atmospheric but the service and quality on our visit was clearly lacking.

Really disappointing experience for the valentine's night menu. Item's taken off the menu, trying to order a glass of wine which was advertised on the menu only to be told we sell that by the bottle only. Very disappointing food, but very good service form the team.

Been twice, good food and service, which is what you expect...

Visited early evening 13 February. Restaurant was just beginning to fill get busier. Was welcomed by a friendly, smiling Molly at the door and shown to our table and left with a menu. Molly soon returned and took our drinks and food order and everything went well. Food was nice. I had the Burger and fries and my wife had the Moroccan Chicken kebab, both cooked well, plentiful and tasty. Unable to find room for a desert unfortunately. We both thought the friendly professional service from Molly was exceptional throughout and a credit to The Oystercatcher. Only one small criticism , the heating in the restaurant needed turning up a bit as it was rather cold.

Food was great, good service, and pretty quick as well, nice environment, I'm gluten intolerant, and although the menu doesn't show anything, don't be put off the waiter will go through the options available, had the lamb skewer with a feta salad, really nice.

Very busy and our order was misplaced, they did apologise and we were given compensation for this.

From the time I booked to leaving the whole experience was perfect. I explained we were bringing a large dog with us. It was no trouble for them. We were sat out the way but still felt part of the restaurant. We were looked after by Molly who knew exactly what she was doing and very helpful. We will be returning very soon. I fully recommend

First time I've visited the Oystercatcher. No complaints. Food was lovely. Service was friendly and not overbearing, and very reasonably priced. Atmosphere was very friendly and the Menus had plenty of choice. The only thing i will say is that my friend had a Chicken n Bacon salad which was a touch on the large size. Lovely place to eat.

Very good meal and service on a Monday lunch time ( busier than expected ). Only downside was the slow process of ordering gluten free options.

Grearm pub/restaurant which was refurbished in 2024. Service was great as usual and ordered food was delivered quickly. Staff were very welcoming and attentive at the right times

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a fantastic meal at The Oyster Catcher in Climping with my wife and son. The food was absolutely delicious—we started with some nibbles, then enjoyed the pork belly and the classic burger, both of which were cooked to perfection. The highlight was pairing it with a smashing Mark West Pinot Noir, which complemented the meal beautifully. A big thank you to Emma for looking after us so well—her friendly and attentive service made our visit even better. Highly recommend for a great dining experience!

We have been here several times when in the area and never had a bad meal, but this time it was cold, the potato were dry tasted like frozen ones.

Has a loyalty card with discounts. Staff OK. Good food and comes out hot. Nice place. Reasonably good menu. Service can be a little slow sometimes.

Not good the food was only warm no pork crackling with the pork drinks OK puddings we got forgot and waited for over an hour very expensive for what we go for a Sunday lunch only went there because we had the dog with us and sat outside

Always lovely staff when I go as well as some of the best food I've eaten, I use this place as an oppotunity of excitement as i am always excited waiting for the planned date of coming here. Honetly if I wasnt broke id come here regularly and tip but im broke so futurely....

Very friendly staff, brilliant food

Restaurant was cold, told that the fire in the area we were sitting couldn’t be turned on due to a broken fan, and the small radiators were not effective. All of us had cold food, and mostly the food was just ok. Our waitress and her service was lovely, but the food came slowly.

Have just visited with 4 hungry youngsters. Service was perfect. Fast delivery of food, and was delicious. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was really warm. Will certainly be visiting again. Great team, keep up the good work.

Overpriced, limited vegan choice... Nearly £20 for a plant based burger, served with a small portion of fries, no salad just a gherkin! Disappointing meal!

Staff super friendly nice atmosphere

Really lovely venue. We enjoyed a pre Christmas Dinner here with family. All the food was delicious and well cooked and for our party of 22, it all came out within 5 minutes of each other, which is no mean feat also given the size if the place. Staff could have been a tiny bit more attentive but it wasn't bad considering how busy it was that day.

Amazing evening, food and service was perfect in a fantastic atmosphere. A great evening had by all.

On arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who made sure all our needs were met. We chose from a varied menu which had something for everyone. The food was piping hot,well presented and tasted delicious.It was definatly one of the best experiences of eating out that we have had in a long time.we would highly reccomend this place. Our server was liz who added Christmas cheer and we sent compliments to the chef whose name was shane. Thanks for a meal that was enjoyed and service that was perfect.

Vintage inns, simple food, nice atmosphere. Good service for lunch.

At the moment food has been outstanding. Have visited x2 recently and had the roast turkey meal. Has been lovely - perfect size portion and food was great.

Lovely spacious pub /restaurant. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Hubby had steak Ribeye and I had the Seabass.. Excellent food and service. Definitely recommend.

What a strange place I’ve been told that they run out beef (which that is in three main on their menu) on a Sunday at 16:45pm… Anyway I’m not recommending this place at all, to me stink of racism!👎

I recently had a fantastic experience at the OysterCatcher. The service from Liz was absolutely impeccable -she was friendly, attentive and made us feel incredibly welcome throughout. The food was delicious and there is an impressive selection of drinks. We were seated at a lovely table in the dining area which had a warm and inviting atmosphere. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit and I can't recommend the OysterCatcher highly enough. Looking forward to my next visit!

We had the wake for our dad here. Great, friendly and professional service. Attention was paid to our requests. They cordoned off an area and this was perfect. We were very impressed. Lovely cosy interior. Loads of parking. Food was fresh and plentiful. Would recommend

Had a birthday meal which was very nice ,the waitress was very pleasant and friendly. The whole group was impressed with the service and we shall return.

Had a very enjoyable evening meal. We booked and requested a dog friendly table. The pub was very busy but service was prompt, and Liz our waitress was extremely friendly! The portions were generous, although we thought that the puddings were on the expensive side. Will definitely visit when in the area again

Nice table, although it was laid for 6,in spite of there only being 4 of us. Extra place settings and chairs not removed, so a bit odd! Chilly place to sit, as it turned out, as close to the window, and too far from fire to feel as cosy as might have been expected. Starters ordered: salt and pepper Squid x 3 and one pate. Overall, starters too large and overwhelming. Too much batter on the Squid- couldn't taste the Squid. Boring flavour to wade thru. Uninspired presentation. Just on a boring, beige, large round plate with a pot of yellow dip and a slice of lemon. Disappointing. Main courses: pork chop: fine. Chicken skewer with feta salad: tasty but far too much chicken, especially after the size of the starter. Didn't need the beetroot wrap. Duck and hoisin pizza: interesting idea but delivery too weird! Strange combination of over sweet sauce on anaemic flat bread base topped with crispy duck and cheese. Most of the 2 that were ordered on my table were left. Service OK, although distinct lack of ability or empathy about how to deal with disappointed customers. No offer or any kind of effort to recompense and encourage a repeat visit to help us feel better about the Oystercatcher. So as a result, you won't be seeing us again, despite the location and decor/ambience of the place.

Lovely pub, great food nice decor and food was lovely too. Beef brisket sandwiches were delicous.

Ordered food. Took 40 mins to come. Went to the wrong table. When it got to our table it was cold. Service was slow. Quality of food was poor. Salad was old, chicken was over cooked. Never cleared our table to provide feedback at the time hence the review! Edited after megs reply: thanks so much for reply Meg! We sat there for 20 minutes to wait for our plates to be cleared. Not one member of staff popped over to ask how our meal was or to ask if we wanted a dessert. If your staff couldn’t check on us then why would I pop over to complain.

Good food -nice staff- relaxing ambience

Just turned up for lunch three people , We were pleasantly surprised, really nice.

A pretty pub in an accessible location. Good food at a good price, waitress service not very attentive, but food arrived promptly.

Great pub, serving delicious food with attentive staff taking care of our group of 9. We booked in advance and were shown to our table on arrival. The staff were accommodating, allowing our group to mix between the set lunch menu and the à la carte menu. We dined for all three courses, so were able to sample a range of the food options available. The food came out as described and in a timely manner. The portion sizes were generous with some in our party taking leftovers home. Based on our experience we would have no hesitation in returning or recommending it for others.

We held a funeral reception at The Oystercatcher last week. From original booking, sorting menu and especially on the day the staff were amazing, attentive and accommodating. The buffet food was delicious and thank you to chef and kitchen when guests got sweet tooth and although not pre-booked whipped up amazing desserts for us all at short notice. The conservatory was a lovely private space too. All guests were complimentary on venue, food and staff. Thank you.

We booked for a table of 10 and from the moment we walked in the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming all the staff was so friendly and helpful especially Emma who was our waitress she was absolutely amazing at looking after us, the food was incredible and we've all decided that we will definitely be coming back again for more meals in the future such a fantastic little pub could find a fault anywhere even the toilets was outstanding which shows they go the extra mile 👌.

Staff was attentive, the barmaids were quick, chatty and friendly. We had great time, were lucky the weather too, it was very nice, warm and sunny 🙂

Bailey was our waiter for the evening, very polite, professional, and helpful. Exactly the kind of person you hope to get when going out for a nice meal... food was amazing, very clean place. Only one negative was a very young female staff member, very rude. Before we were allocated a table, she must have walked past us 6 times, not once did she ask if we needed any help, etc.. a bit of common curtesy goes a very long way.

Visited on the off chance for lunch. We were seated by a very nice young lady with no fuss. I ordered scampi which arrived hot, well presented and delicious. A very nice location friendly and good food.

Shortage of food long wait for food

Almost ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ but not quite! An attractive, comfortable & well laid out pub, inside and out. Welcoming & helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly. Ample parking. Currently serving an improvable choice of three cask ales in reasonable condition alongside a selection of lager, cider a craft keg beer and the usual wines & spirits. We ate here twice during our short stay in the area. The menu selection wasn't brilliant but suffice for the occasional visit. The quality of the food was great although portion size was on the small side when compared with the price charged but could easily be increased without affecting cost. Chips/fries and vegetable portions were small as was the custard which came in a half filled tiny little jug, hardly a spoonful and definitely not enough to accompany the Allotment Crumble! When I asked for the jug to be topped up, I was told it would be chargeable. I wasn't impressed. With a little bit of improvement on the value for money, this customer would have given five stars!

Fantastic staff and food. All enjoyed by our large group.

This was our second meal at the pub since refurbishment and the high quality of food and service were maintained. We had steaks and they were the best we've ever had along with lovely accompaniments. Lovely atmosphere and decoration throughout. Service from Maggie and the staff was prompt and faultless. So sorry we were unable to leave a tip, but we'll be back for sure.

On arrival had to wait to to be seated as staff not attending to other patrons were chatting amongst themselves. Even though table was booked via website table was not ready for us and was done whilst we were waiting next to them. Service initially was good by giving us sometime to look at drinks menu but then after that it went downhill . Starters took ages to come out but when they did they were all pleasant. Then took an age for mains to come out and we had to ask when that would be. Starters were only cleared when the mains started to arrive. Mains were warm not hot, chicken skewer dry, sea bass dry and over cooked and all appeared to have sat under heat lamps . We decided puddings would not be ordered

First time visit and wow! The service was amazing. So friendly and welcoming. Our server ( Receipt said Emma) was fantastic. Best customer service I've ever experienced. She was so polite,helpful and down to earth. Made sure we were happy and was so lovely to my children. Food was lovely aswell. Highly recommended. Emma is a credit to the team. Absolutely lovely lady.

It's a vintage inn, I should know better. Zero beer choice unless you are fool enough to like their big brand coloured water, standard deeply unhealthy run of the mill food so didn't bother, plus the one and only toilet was out of order so we couldn't stay long anyway. A lovely looking building housing a less than average pub. Vintage inns, never again.
