Visited for the first time with friends. We were all impressed with the quality of the food, the exceptional service and the look and feel of this recently renovated thatched roof pub / restaurant. We will be using this as our restaurant of choice in the future. And a big thank you Liz, our server. Excellent front of house servers can make or break.

Love this venue, good food, good service, reasonably priced....and the dog can join us......

It was below your good service long waite for main courses chips were terrible sadly we won't be coming over, no car goodbye for ever and on the hole we have enjoyed you food and all the staff. Many thanks to all Bruce and Jackie

Nice but unusually really quiet for a Saturday night.

Excellent service and very welcoming. The food is always perfect, I have visited multiple times over the last year and it is always to a brilliant standard. My favourite pub in the area.

Not good the food was only warm no pork crackling with the pork drinks OK puddings we got forgot and waited for over an hour very expensive for what we go for a Sunday lunch only went there because we had the dog with us and sat outside

It’s not a bad pub. They did seem extremely short staffed. When it came to deciding our food, we were not told about food running out until we asked for it and then once we had decided the waitress came back and told us that those choices had also gone. Our third choice on the menu was very nicely cooked though and well presented. The staff were polite and courteous but could have had a few more hands to help. There was only one waitress serving outside and one person behind the bar the whole time I was there. Dog friendly.

Great pub garden. Good parking. Can get very busy as popular with all, including dog walkers.

Have been away from this place for a few years, unfortunately the food isn't any better, food was tasteless not particularly warm and the language of certain customers pretty poor considering there were children thete. Lamb was warm not hot, pie was empty and tasteless and the pate bland. Koftas were like mush inside so probably frozen. Will not be returning

Had a lovely gluten free Sunday roast and desert. Service was great, and the staff were knowledgeable about coelic/ gluten free, especially Sadie. Nice atmosphere and food well presented, would definitely go back.

Great place with decent decor and service and a beer garden where you can relax, we didn't have to wait long for your food even though the service had a full hands of work. I'll be happy to go back there

Went a couple of months ago with two friends. We were there in the afternoon. The first thing we were told was "we haven't got this, and we haven't got that, that &that." One of my friends is vegetarian and has to eat gluten free food. There were no complete meals for vegetarian/gluten free customers. She had to make Mish mash of different bits and the quality was not good. Secondly, I wanted a few small dishes including king prawns. I was told that there were no king prawns despite my other friend ordering the king prawn main dish! The waitress said my friend could order one extra king prawn skewer and give it to me! The salad I ordered was limp and unappealing. There were very few people in the pub and therefore I cannot understand why food was in short supply. Later, when we were leaving lots of customers turned up filling the pub and eating. There must have been a lot of unhappy customers that evening! I can't recommend this pub/restaurant. Probably a place to drink maybe but now that The Black Horse has opened probably not. It is a shame that despite the makeover the food is still not up to scratch.

Nice chilled pub with great food, decent beer and a good atmosphere. Plus a huge beer garden. I will definitely be back.

An ad-hoc lunchtime visit on July 16th with my 2 dogs certainly didn't disappoint 😊😊...A varied, reasonably priced menu that was underpinned with friendly service. It was good to chat with Shane re the recent refurbishment & the pride all the team obviously have in it.. spotless 🤩👍👍.. A return visit is guaranteed..👍👍

Had a lovely family Sunday lunch, with a very appetising slow cooked pork belly for me, chicken parmegana chicken and fish n chips. Washed down with excellent Provence rose. No great wait, and super service. The only downside was a fairly disruptive child on a nearby table.

Normally very good food. This Sunday lunch was cold and potatoes were burnt. Service wasnt very good. I had to keep checking if things were coming.

Although a pub chain, the food was delivered in good time and was very tasty for all my family including 2 fussy boys. I suppose the only thing that spoils this pub is that is beside a busy road so the garden is not as pleasant as one would like. Also it would be helpful to know which dishes contain gluten. My wife is intolerant meaning she can handle it in small quantities, not same as celiac who cannot be exposed to gluten, this info would be helpful.

High quality food served in this elegant yet relaxed pub. We loved our visit. The only improvement would be an indication of GF food on the menu.

Nice food but is pricey for the amount you get. The staff are very friendly and welcoming A+++.

Really nice place. Friendly staff our server Emily was delightful. Food tasty and delicious. Fish & chips very good not greasy chips tasty and again not soaked in fat. Good selection of wine. White recommended by Emily was in fact really good. Definite place to come back too

You won't believe it, but I ate one of the best "parmigiana" in this English pub...

Popped in to meet family for a drink. Lovely atmosphere, quick service and very dog friendly.

Have been waiting to try this place for some time now and booked a table for 4 for my son’s birthday. Booked for 6pm plenty of room, staff (Carol ) was very attentive and was pleasant and responded quickly to requests. Was served in good time and the food was delicious, great choices on menu. Had Moroccan skewers and classic burgers great portions and flavours spot on. Will definitely go back.

Great pub/restaurant especially when looking for somewhere to eat around Littlehampton. Book early as the choice of menu items can be reduced later at the weekends. Great food and staff however. Recommended

We've just had another enjoyable meal at the Oystercatcher. We were served by Emma, who was very polite, friendly and looked after us extremely well. The food and service, as always, was excellent, being hot, tasty with large portions, with appropriate times left between each course. There is always a large and varied choice on the menu. The Oystercatcher was recently refurbished, but still retains it's charm and friendly atmosphere. We previously used the Oystercatcher for a wake of an immediate family member. The service and food on that occasion was also excellent and helped give a memorable send-off to a much missed member of the family

Asked for a highchair but waitress just walked off and didn't return. Very slow to take order due to staffing issues. Food took 50 minutes from ordering to arrive after having to ask for at least the kids food be served. Server put red hot plates, that she had to use tea towels to handle, down in reach of a 16 month old and food was half Luke warm half cold.

Food was terrible.. Uncooked vegetables and my when my wife tipped her gravy out, a block of ice fell out of it covering her food in shards of cold ice.. shocking service and all they offered her was a free pudding.. The outside is also next to a really busy main road so not a great experience in any way and its not cheap either!

Fantastic food and service, since this pub/restaurant has been taken over I'd honestly say it's by far the place to go for great food. Top food and a great team. Straight 10 out of 10.

We travelled to meet friends at the Oystercatcher as it was a halfway point from our respective locations. The food was delicious and the service by Emma absolutely faultless. Emma went out of her way to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.

Cycled to the venue numerous times whilst visiting family in the area. Recent renovations and new thatched roof make the outdoor area pleasing to the eye and enjoyable. Good selection on tap, didn't have any food so can't comment on that. But restaurant looked busy on each occasion and everyone was leaving with a smile on their face. Lovely spot for a first date, birthday or anniversary. Will be back next time I'm in town! Worth a look!

8.50 per starter. Lamb kofte was tasteless as was the 2 types of paste that was served with it. Chicken liver pate came with sourdough that wasnt fresh. Food was really bad for the price:

Lovely place for dinner. Had the signature burger which was brilliant and pudding was banoffee choux bun which was also delicious. UPDATE: So good we went again last night. I had the duck and hoisin Pizza which was lovely and then a mini brownie for dessert. We have had a very social weekend and enjoyed The Oyster Catcher as a venue for our Dinners. 10/10 will be going here again.

Went on a very busy Saturday night. Had to wait too long for food. Had prawn skewer but slaw had no sauce on it. My granddaughter had the duck pizza and it was very greasy so didn't eat it all. Had to wait too long to be served with dessert so paid up and left. Big disappointment.!

Busy and popular family dining. Food cooked well and an impressive menu. Staff working hard to make the experience perfect. Just allow time as being busy the food took 40mins to arrive.

The one negative is it's popularity in that beautiful mid day and evening summer break. Very good food although a bit pricey. Recommend.

Fantastic service from Emily and even better fish and chips I've had fish and chips all around this country and the oystercatcher is miles number one so tasty well done the chefs at the oystercatcher. I'd recommend this pub so highly go there you will be amazed

Nice pub and meal but nothing is cheap these days!

Visited after a day out at the coast, got a table outside, had the pizza and toffee pudding, as was Saturday place was busy, (its around 5pm when we arrived) staff were friendly and polite but a little short had to get up several times to remind for requests, but would Visit again.

We didn't eat but the menu looked good, so no rating for food. A nice, clean environment, good range of beverages and good service. Will come again and try the food!

Always used to go to Oyster Catcher to have a meal u only had to order if main restaurant but they have changed policy I went in with my granddaughter and her mum and was not allowed to order as only had one chef the so called manageress behind bar could not have cared less did nothing to help us even to offer snack for my granddaughter who is three wii not go there again very very disappointed

We were staying locally and stopped at the Oyster Catcher for an early evening meal. Apparently it has been recently decorated and we both really liked the decor. The food and drinks were excellent, we were impressed with the varied menu - we both had starters, main course and desert, so I can only vouch for these, the crab cakes, lamb kofta’s, chicken and mushroom pie, chicken, bacon and avocado salad and we both had crumbles for dessert, these were all delicious…..our waitress Liz was friendly and very efficient. We will definitely recommend and would love to return soon!!!

Service is super slow, lost track of orders, half the items on the menu wasn’t available. Waited was rude and contradicting

Great food with ok service, the only thong that really let them down was a young server with no customer skills, not that they could do anything about the road noise shame on a sunny day

We had the traditional Sunday roast, both having the "trio" selection followed by desserts.I asked for the vegetables to be changed to something more to my taste and this was happily accommodated. Service was quick and the waitress (Carol ?) was very pleasant

We visited this evening for a meal & drinks. Our server Liz was very polite & efficient & we received excellent service from her. The food was amazing, cooked & presented perfectly. We both had a mini pudding & Bailey's lattes to finish our meal. A very nice country pub atmosphere with plenty of seating opportunities should you wish to book for a large party of guests. Massive garden with plenty of seating. Thoroughly recommend The Oystercatcher

We went here today, we have been several times before but weren't we disappointed today. Before the revamp a waitress would take your order, when we had eaten some food, the waitress would return and ask if everything was alright! Lovely personal touches!! Today we were told the restaurant was fully booked and there were two tables only available, no problem! The restaurant never filled up! We had to place our order at the bar and waited about 40 minutes for it, my fishcakes were disappointing, very thin and everything on the plate was greasy my friend's bacon chop was a bit fatty, and she said the chips were tasty though. We won't be going back, we feel it's gone down hill and the prices seem to have gone up quite a bit! Not value for money and lost the personal touches!

A wonderful pub! Cosy, clean, and spacious, with several different seating types: booths, bar stools, armchairs and tables. A lovely, relaxed vibe. We started with drinks, read books, played games and had the classic fish and chips for dinner.

Looked after by a lovely kind attentive waitress Emma, she went above and beyond today, great help to us but she showed such kindness to a blind customer, read whole menu, chopped his food then assisted with his bill, I wish every restaurant had an Emma, her kindness made me cry.

Just a couple of minor issues that took the edge off the meal. 1s 1st by our 6pm sitting you had run out of the roast turkey choice for Sunday roast 2nd The gravy didn't appear with chicken pie nor did it arrive until the meal meal was almost finished 3rd No chocolate brownie left 4th Ice machine broken until someone managed to rustle up some ice cubes for us to add to our drink

Very well presented pub with a reasonable choice of ales (three as I recall) which are served in good condition. Can't comment on the menu as I didn't eat on this occasion. The real plus is the service. All the staff appear very pleasant and customer focused.

Our waiter Bailey couldn't do enough for us, including seeing that I was hot & fanning myself he came straight over & asked if I'd like the window opened. Even though it was crowded we didn't have to wait long for our food . Our roasts were beautiful as were our desserts ( which we weren't going to have, but couldn't resist!)

Emma was incredible! Service was first class and the food delicious! We will be returning. In fact we have booked again for Saturday, June 8th at 7pm. It’s my husband’s birthday and he has chosen to return. Fabulous.

First time back since the renovation. Really good job. Shame the chef doesn't understand about preparing a fillet steak "well done". Needs to be cooked really slowly. I was prepared to wait. Maybe next time.

Three of us went this afternoon. We ate sea bass & pork belly. Highly recommend this place. Refurb has made the restaurant area bright comfortable and welcoming. You must try this place. The Sunday roast is best I’ve had in a restaurant. Katy was so helpful with downloaded the app. Very informative on food. My mum asked for slight change to her food and Katy made sure it was done. Perfect. Thank you

Good food, friendly staff and dog friendly

Lovely welcoming staff & good food. One tiny complaint , they give you to many roast potatoes & not enough veg.. the dish to share is only enough for one person I think.. less potatoes and more veg please!

Half the menu was off and then what food did come was poor. Staff were trying their hardest but what they had to serve made life hard work for them with all the complaints (from us and others)

Good points first: excellent, courteous and prompt service; good choice in the menu; there were plenty of vegetarian options as well as vegan; food was wonderful (we all had skewers). Points to improve: serve the skewers and sides at the same time; somehow label the decaf coffee so that the server knows which is which; put a sign at the bottom of the stairs to direct upstairs for the toilet. These are minor things but they would be easy to implement.

Only called in for a couple of drinks but will be back to eat very soon

Just refurbished. Re opened 4 weeks ago. Lack lustre staff. "Alright Mate" greeting to a man old enough to be his grandfather. Pleasant enough decor. Unimpressed.
