A gloriously sunny day and a really kind member of staff ensured that our visit was blessed with being able to sit out on the deck with views out over the flooded slate mine and surrounding ocean. Oysters to start followed by Mussels for me and fish & chips for my partner were all really fresh and tasty. The guy waiting tables was really helpful and friendly. Definitely worth booking a table on the deck if you’re going to be in the area. And definitely worth a trip out here if you’re in the Oban area as Seil and the tiny island of Easdale are well worth seeing.

This is a pleasant little Hotel, although at first we had trouble finding the car park (its up the side and round the back. And we had abit of trouble finding the entrance. We thought with the Carpark being where it was at the back of the house, there might be an entrance to the hotel there also. There wasn't! After trying every back door in the heavy rain carrying suitcases we had to walk down the hill and around to the front of the house to find 2 doorways. Check in was swift and easy. Our room was lovely and warm and modern. The shower room looked as if it was recently refurbished. Towels were tired looking and thin, the bed was comfy enuf, but the pillows were flat and not up to much. Kettle & tea bags etc an biscuits were good. The walls are very thin, we could hear ppl chatting in the next room. We stayed for dinner, it was nice but not worth £18 for fish & chips, very over priced for pub grub quality! The service was good tho and quite speedy. The breakfast was included for our 1 night stay, I had a full Scottish breakfast, it was such a letdown as it wasn't freshly cooked, everything was reheated (microwaved) & dry, the bacon was like cardboard, mushroom so dry they had shrivelled up and were like rubber. The potato scone was dry and stiff as a board, I couldn't cut it with a knife, nor the bacon. And talking about knives, the strangest shaped handles that were already awkward to use let alone trying to cut a stoating breakfast. The haggis & black pudding was just a greasy flop on the plate. The poached egg was edable as it was cooked fresh. The orange juice was dilute juice. There was fresh fruit salad that was nice an Croissants too. For a visitor experiencing their first Scottish breakfast it was a real let down. All in all it was a cosy & clean hotel, but not the cheapest for what we got, and I'd defo avoid the fry up ooft.. Also worth mentioning the front door of the hotel stays unlocked all night unstaffed, it felt abit unsafe as anyone can walk in from the street, even if there is a small camera, who's sitting up watching that all night? No one!.. So cosy room, but overpriced food & horrible SCOTTISH breakfast fry up (with no toast) let this place down and spoiled my experience. I didn't complain as I couldn't do with the drama first thing in the morning. But I won't be returning.

Firstly with the construction work we got a bit lost from the rear carpark and ended up within the work area, clear direction required and the rear entrance to works closed off better. Staff were great, very friendly and attentive. We decided to pass on the food as the prices were just astronomical, instead got a takeaway from Marmaris in Oban which was lovely and they deliver. We didn't get a great night's sleep as the mattress felt old and tired, tossing and turning all night. The bathroom was also like a sauna even with the heating off and being a wet room water went all over the toilet area which wasn't ideal if you weren't having a shower. We passed on breakfast and headed off to work. I have stayed here before in a room in the main part of the hotel and it was fantastic, maybe the rooms out the back just need a bit of work!

We are visiting the area so weren’t too sure where to book for dinner and the Oyster Inn was the nearest to us. Booked a table by the fire in the bar and had the Christmas Dinner. Another good restaurant bites the dust. The Oyster Inn used to be all about well cooked honest food at a reasonable (for a tourist area) price. Sorry to report that pretensions have taken over, where there was once a great Steak Pie, there are now "Textures of Beetroot" , great whole fish have been replaced by about an inch of 'Stone Bass ' whatever that is, for a bit under £30.00 . You could eat cheaper and have a slice of cauliflower for just under £20.00, sauces are bland, micro herbs are everywhere. It's like someone read a Jamie Oliver cookbook several years ago and then tried to put dishes together. The word soup is possibly the most digestible part of the menu.

Hotel room was ok Food well overpriced in the restaurant, 3 scallops on a plate that were cold, my wife did complain and nothing was done about it. Breakfast was overcooked, no toast was offered, no croissants left either. We certainly won’t be back. Oh a small bottle of wine and a pint of lager was £19 (at least dick Turpin wore a mask)

Really disappointed stay - after travelling from Mull, looking forward to a nice restaurant meal and overnight stay. Room 18 was cold and tatty overlooking the car park at the rear of the property. Restaurant was closed - we were allocated a table in the bar right in front of a huge TV whereby everyone was watching the football, decided this table was not for us - and offered to wait, then allocated a table In front of a smaller TV - again felt like we were being watched whilst eating our meal. Moved as soon as we had eaten. If restaurant is not open should have been notified, totally different menu, not half the selection viewed on the website. One the plus side good hot water for a shower.

We stayed here for two nights in early September, in a front facing seaview room. The setting is idyllic and the sunsets on both evenings were fantastic. The room was modern, well equipped, with a comfortable bed & lovely bathroom. It was rather small but suited us for a short stay. We were very taken with the electronic window blind. Wifi connection was very good, such a necessity these days. Breakfasts were lovely, smoked haddock & Full Scottish. However, the Eggs Benedict buns were overdone & too hard to eat. Service in the restaurant was rather slow. Dinners included fish chowder, steak & ale pie, whitebait starter, seafood linguini & pan fried lemon sole. All first class and absolutely delicious. If we lived nearer we would be regulars!

It was very quiet - just 2 other people in the bar. The restaurant was closed but food was available in the bar. I had travelled an hour to have lunch here based on good reviews and was very disappointed. I ordered steak pie and there didn’t appear to be any ready, I waited an hour for food to arrive. The bar waitress was apologetic and polite but didn’t offer a drink or any other token of apology. When the food came it was just ok, certainly not worth the journey or the wait. I was also sorry to see that the place was not as spick and span as the photos suggest. Some of the outside tables were badly damaged and one of the restaurant signs was missing a letter. My bar table had sticky marks on it. I won’t be going again.

Food was good but nothing special, although 4 people had the same item, there was inconsistencies, some had asparagus, some didnt, some had broccoli, some didnt and some had both!!! waitress was very good but all soft drink were pints and not half pints, just away for the Oyster inn to make a bit more money. We had an 8 year old in our party and didn't like any of the 3 items offered on the child's menu. We asked if he could have chicken and chips instead of burger and chips on the child's menu and were told yes. Unfortunately we were charged as an adult for the child's meal. When questioned, we were told that was the price. Didn't go back, but did go twice to the Cuan Mor in Oban 5 miles away and were not disappointed.

I had grilled sole which had never seen a grill. Was undercooked and soggy. Husband’s burger was pretty pink. Got overcharged for 3 pints of McEwens which were on special. Not worth the money, won’t be back

We had dinner here twice when staying in Connel. The meal the first night was fairly good although my son had the steak which was not the best. However the second night was a disappointment. The food was fairly bland with some items not available....

Ordered a guinness it was terrible tasted sour reported it. Pipes need cleaned The trainee Barmaid maggie wasnt interested charged me another pint when i asked for stella. You cant pay for food, and drinks all at once as she gets confused if you put 3 pints behind the bar. To much for her .Her attitude stinks when i says i will pay now. No go to the cash machine.. I wont be back i was a paying customer her attitude is shocking

Such a beautiful location with lovely staff but unfortunately the worst meal ever. If a chef cannot make macaroni then it's a big no from us. Pasta and water would have been more apt. Feel sorry for the waitresses working there having to serve such bland inedible food. We are not complainers but felt the need to. The waitresses were so lovely and engaging but even they could not make up for the inedible food. Will definitely not return

We stopped here on a cold and very windy day. Cafe is a bit small, but the cakes are scrumptious and the hot chocolate was perfectly chocolatey, delicious and warming which was just what was needed. Coffee and tea also was great. The two ladies who run the cafe are lovely and bake some really delicious treats. They have a small shop too full of pretty stuff. Will definitely be coming back here next time I'm in Inveraray.

Staff more interested in playing darts than serving customers. The food was average, dont waste your time and money here, there are plenty of outlets to choose from that will welcome your custom

Great hotel with average size rooms that are very well equipped with everything you could want or need; double bed, small table and chair suitable for a laptop, a kettle with selection of tea and coffee, an iron, a decent flat tv mounted on the wall that is compatible my mobile casting, coffee table with several chairs etc. The bathroom is also decent with a good shower. Plenty of power sockets and usb power too. The room was hot when I arrived but I was able to turn down the heating and it got pleasantly cool 😎 Rare these days. The free wifi is also good and fast. Most rooms seem to face the Loch/Clyde so a good view is almost assured. The restaurant is popular and seems to attract customers on its own, which isn't surprising as the food is an excellent pub-style offering at very reasonable prices.
