The Oyster House in Swansea

Came on March the 30th 2024, it was my birthday treat with my daughters, we all ordered the same full English breakfast, when it came the food was delicious and very fresh, after about 5 minutes I said to my daughter how didn't you butter your toast, she said what toast I didn't have ant even though the butter was in a dish on her plate, then she said why have you two.got 2 sauages I have only one, this was never rectified and the service was very slow and terrible none of the serving staff we saw where polite or happy

Really pleased a friend suggested eating in the restaurant of the hotel. Food was delicious, staff friendly and helpful (extremely well trained as well), and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit and can't wait to visit again.

Visited today to celebrate Mother's Day. We were kindly greeted with a glass of prosecco. Sunday lunch was absolutely beautiful. Great service too. Looking forward to dining there again.

Wow!! Looking for somewhere last minute for Sunday lunch as we didn’t book. This place was so accommodating, delicious roast dinners and friendly service. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon for sure.

Date of Visit: February 17th, 2024 Time of Visit: Around 11:00 AM My experience at Oyster House on February 17th left much to be desired. Despite the promising ambiance, the visit was marred by exceptionally poor service. Upon arrival, my husband and I were eager to enjoy some morning coffees. However, our anticipation quickly turned sour when a waitress abruptly informed us, without any courtesy, that breakfast service was no longer available. Her demeanour was unnecessarily brusque, as she snatched the menus from our hands before abruptly departing. This lack of basic hospitality was striking and set the tone for the remainder of our visit. Subsequently, another staff member, who appeared to be in a supervisory role, cleared plates from previous customer from our table without so much as a nod of acknowledgment towards us. The absence of any greeting or recognition of our presence was disheartening, to say the least. Undeterred, my husband proceeded to the bar in the hopes of salvaging our visit by ordering some coffee. Unfortunately, the interaction with the same unapologetically rude waitress continued. Despite serving other customers before and after, she blatantly disregarded his presence, even leaving the bar to speak with someone. Given the repeated instances of neglect and discourtesy, my husband and I made the regrettable decision to cut our visit short and leave. While the restaurant may have an appealing atmosphere, the utter lack of professionalism and basic courtesy displayed by the staff overshadowed any potential positives. It is my sincere hope that the Oyster House takes steps to address these issues promptly, as they detract significantly from the overall experience. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others.

Quite disappointed. The start of our experience was the lady who greeted us - sharp, rude and abrupt. She didn’t tell us anything about the menu and just said ‘order at the bar’. We had booked the table in advance. Went to order and one item of Sunday lunch wasn’t there. Also disappointing as we had pre booked plus she neglected to mention it. The food itself was ok. Not enough vegetables. No one came and checked on us. She cleared table and didnt even offer a dessert menu. Quite appalling customer service all in all. I won’t be recommending it sadly and in my job I get asked a lot. Please train your staff as even if the food doesn’t make the mark your staff will over ride that.

Looks fab from outside and until today never felt smart enough to step inside. However dogs babies prams and tracksuits galore. It’s not what you would expect. 4 items on main menu for lunch 3 burgers one fish and chips. Nothing special. Chicken burger very dry with dry colesalw mix and under average frozen chips. One guy serving food was absolutely miserable as sin. We enjoyed the venue the decor and its a change from Croeso, but don’t expect anything fancy. Would I return? Maybe in casual clothes when out walking but not in anything fancy.

Awful, overpriced food - The Burger would not fill a sparrow & the sandwich was served with stale bread. If this wasn't bad enough, the food was way overpriced & bland. Better off going next door to either of the 2 venues that serve excellent well priced fayre with better surroundings & atmosphere

Had a lovely catch up with the family just before Christmas. We had pre-ordered our food so it was served quickly. Everyone enjoyed their food and it was very reasonably priced. Staff are always very friendly and helpful 😊

The level of customer service was superb from the moment we walked in until the moment we left the hotel. Having made an error in booking and turning up a day early the reception staff dealt with our error without any issue and rebooked us in to the same room type and deal within minutes. The room was ready, clean, warm and fully serviced. We stayed in room 14 on the 2nd floor with a Juliet balcony overlooking Mumbles Bay and a huge comfy king+ bed. Lovely hot shower. Dinner and breakfast were included and neither disappointed. Good choices too. The bar / table staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The Xmas decorations in the bar / restaurant continued through to the hotel common areas which was a nice touch. We will definitely be back in the future. Well done The Oyster House 👏👍

We went here with the family for Christmas dinner, this included elderly family members and 2 young children. Not only did the staff leave us in a boiling hot room on our own, we didn’t have the drinks we had ordered. After we had requested the drinks with another staff member, our original server had the audacity to say we had told on him - and complained about having a telling off from his boss (or manager). We were consistently ignored by the staff for any meal requests. Later on in the evening a female staff member gave us our set desserts/coffees and I was horrified by the fact that she looked disgusted at both of the children - who were not doing anything. I was truly terrified at her behaviour! Staff were rude which was such a shame. Food was lovely, and we still had a good time despite the staff member’s behaviour.

My favourite place in Mumbles. Love the coffee, staff are really friendly and great atmosphere. Having a meal here next weekend with my family which I am looking forward to. My happy place to go ☕️😊

Stay in hotel for 5 nights . Very friendly & helpful staff . Breakfast was fantastic. Waitress who served us for 5 mornings , Was friendly cheerful & helpful. Hotel very clean & Morden . Room was clean & had everything needed in it , Staff came into clean everyday . 2 minutes walk from car park. £6 per 24 hours , pay & display . So could come & go on same ticket . Hotel right on sea front. Lovely walk along the front . Definitely worth staying there for price & staff very helpful

The hotel was lovely The food was excellent The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly My sister and I booked the room for the disabled which was lovely and the wet room facilities were perfect Unfortunately the access to the room had not been considered I’m in a wheelchair and my sister has limited mobility , the car park is 150 yds from the entrance trying to get our suitcases along was almost impossible luckily a kind individual saw our problem and assisted us to the entrance We had to enter through the bar and then move along a very narrow corridor with several right angled corners very hard to negotiate with a wheelchair. This then ended in with a steep flight of about 5 steps, I was offered a ramp which I was very nervous of , I managed to get out of my chair and go backwards down the stairs with assistance. Anyone who cannot get out of their chair would be stuck. Then there was a lift to the floor of our room which was the furthest room from the lift . To go down for meals we had to go into a side alley and out into the open to the sea front , very unpleasant if it was raining. At the end of the alley there was a large step again I had to get out of my chair holding on to window boxes while my chair was taken down the step. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who is disabled, but for anyone able bodied it would be a wonderful place to stay.

Tried to order on the app for family convenience, half the stuff on the menu isn’t on the app. Plus there’s so many steps to register and pay that it’s just much easier to use the regular method of ordering at the quiet bar. Ordered the food which the crazy waiter later tried to deliver to another table, despite them clearly not recognising the order. The bread to the sandwich was dried out on the outside, like it had been sat under a heat lamp or the sun for ages, which the waiter tried to claim was a brief toasting under the grill .. come on, your punters know grill toasted bread from dried out bread. Either toast it properly or don’t bother at all. A lacklustre experience.

Arrived and paid £16 for pint of morretti and a medium Pinot Grigio!!! Nearly fell over. The vegetarian fritters were lovely but my husband had the burger which was dry and missing the coleslaw. I was not told they were out of coleslaw when I paid or when I was given the meal. I would have chosen a different meal if no coleslaw but I was not good Ben the choice ! This made it even more dry to eat they could have got coleslaw from the coop next door and nobody would have known. So really disappointed with the price and the dry food . The gentleman who greeted us is always pleasant and helpful so I compliment all staff there .

We stayed for nights and had a great time. Mumbles is one of our favourite places and The Oyster House is a lovely place to stay. The breakfasts were superb and the room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. All of the staff we met were lovely, friendly and helpful. And they were especially kind on Sunday when I was unwell. It was much appreciated and we very much look forward to coming back to The Oyster House in the Spring.
