The Oyster House in Swansea

Having not returned to Swansea or Mumbles for over 10 years we were amazed at the transformation. The hotel locations is fantastic with great views of the bay and being located on the promenade its next to bars restaurants and pubs. There was some civil work taking place on the sea wall and promenade toward the pier so might be worth checking when this is completing. The staff were great, friendly and really informative. There's a fantastic bar/restaurant under the hotel which we thought was very well furnished and had a relaxing and comfortable vibe. The room was large and well equipped, for the price we were quite surprised. Decent coffee machine in the room and not a budget sashet of instant. Smart TV, enormous bed, mini fridge, access to spare chargers etc. It was all just a pleasant surprise for the price. We were disappointed we couldn't stay longer but would definitely go back.

We had our wedding reception at the Oyster House. They could not have been more accommodating and we had the best day. Food was brilliant, really tasty and generous portions, and the rooms were lovely too with very comfortable beds. Such a pretty venue with beautiful views as well. All of the staff were friendly and professional, with a special mention to Aimee for all her help in sorting our slightly bizarre list of requirements, thank you so much!

Lovely overnight stay for my daughter's birthday. Room was perfect, comfy beds, a sea view and thoughtful little extras. We had an evening meal and breakfast which were both very tasty and good quality produce, great coffee too. The decor throughout the hotel and restaurant was amazing and we felt so relaxed, can't wait to return.

Comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated rooms. Lovely little extra touches, real milk, sweet treats, coffee maker and good quality toiletries. The Staff were all really friendly, helpful and attentive. Good food too.

Amazing place! Came just for the Bar, so didn’t stay. Really well thought out Dog Facilities here. Very helpful staff.

Parking is the problem. Public car parking is expensive

Had an amazing stay here, brilliant location, very modern decor, bed was so comfortable, quality bedding and pillows. Very friendly staff, especially Heather from housekeeping who showed us the other rooms when I told her we were going to come once a month. Perfect place to get lots of paperwork done in comfortable surroundings, overlooking the sea. Can't recommend enough.

Came here with a party of 7, Tony kindly hosted us and we hadn’t pre ordered. We arrived expecting Christmas dinner however we had not pre ordered …. Tony made it happen and within 40 minutes we had the tastiest roast we have ever had! Would highly recommend!

I have recently visited family in mumbles and decided to stop in at the oyster house on Sunday, the Sunday roast was beautiful and I highly recommend. I decided to return on Wednesday for an evening meal and the pork belly were a highlight. Special shout out to Sam and Ewan who were my servers over the nights and they were impeccable.

Awesome location for your mental wellbeing and health and excellent hospitality from the staff. Enjoyable stay. Recommend to everyone!

Overall we had a comfortable night staying in one of the sea facing rooms. However, on arrival they told us that due to lack of staff the restaurant/bar was closing early, with no concession, so we went elsewhere, plus the price of the rooms were over £100 per night on a Sunday for rooms that needed a bit of attention (lots of paint marks, see photos). I would stay here again if the price was right.

Went there today one and one only sat outside had a smoke when the waiter came outside and said we couldn't smoke outside near no one and said you cannot smoke here we don't have a licence what a load of rubbish Had my own pub had a licence to sell alcohol and music should have asked to see the non smoking licence

Nice comfortable room with a great view, the only negative was the elevator not working meaning a had to carry a very heavy suitcase to the top floor.

Locals don't go here. You shouldn't either. Bad food, bad service, and high prices.

Went in here on chance with a family of 5, staff very friendly and welcoming. Lunch menu had something for each of us and all food was fresh and tasty. Would go here again if in area.

My parents stayed at this busy and buzzy hotel right on the seafront in the heart of the Mumbles for our family holiday. They said the hotel was clean with very modern rooms and the staff were helpful. The downside was there is no hotel lounge area to relax in and there is always music playing in the bar and dining area and often private parties with live singing so it can be noisy at times.

Only popped in for a quick snack and ordered the Sticky pork belly bites with honey, ginger, chilli & black onion seeds. Can’t stop thinking about it it was so delicious.

We had a lovely stay,the room.was beautiful, well equipped and huge.We had a three course dinner which was delicious with amazing service. Good selection of beers and wines and a lovely atmosphere, we shall definitely book and stay again it was perfect.

3/5 for the restaurant. Overall okay, nothing to write home about and probably wouldn’t come back. Menu is misleading in regards to what you get for your money. We ordered ribeye which was served with a “salsa verde” as the menu stated, which we assumed would be a spanish salsa, hence the name. Instead it was basically chopped up gherkins so the entire steak just tasted like gherkin/vinegar. A shame because the steak was nicely cooked and had good flavour to it. Chips was served with chunks on parmesan on top - this didn’t serve a purpose as it wouldn’t melt nor stick to the chips, felt cheap. The dish also came with a few green leaves and two halved cherry tomatoes. My partner ordered the falafel dish, which was quite flavourful and tasty. It felt poorly put together though and we got the feeling we weren’t served fresh produce. The pomegranate seeds on top were thawed frozen ones and the cabbage was probably the pre cut stuff you cut in a supermarket. Overall not the quality you would expect for the price, the flavours was okay. The olives we had as a starter were the best dish we ordered. Probably wouldn’t recommend.

I only booked because of the roof terrace and oysters. Roof terrace was self service downstairs with dirty glasses everywhere. No oysters. We left

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would, The staff would never awnser the phone, we had to wait in the freezing cold for 30 minutes at 21h00 to wait for other customers to enter the hotel and call the receptionist… The rooms didn’t have any heating due to maintenance, in the middle of January… The coffe machine was leaking water, so was the shower that soaked my last outfit of this vacation. The TV remote didn’t work, no one was ever there at the reception nor the restaurant. The breakfast starts at 10:00 and finished at 12:00, i am shocked that this is even called breakfast and that I was charged for it, when I never had breakfast there… I am hoping to receive some kind of commercial gesture in exchange for this absurd price. I paid a price for a full experience of the hotel, not a quarter… And talking about the price, 400€ for three nights, during the « off » season ?? This is ridiculous… This was my girlfriend’s first experience of wales and this is what we get… The only good thing about the place was the bed and the bar next door, Gin and juice, absolutely lovely place and staff.

For a boutique hotel, the menu is surprisingly poor.

Lovely hotel for a trip to The Mumbles, very comfy room, bed is amazing. Food in restaurant is hot and of amazing quality. Margaret is always welcoming and chatty at breakfast. Will definitely stay here again

They haven’t refunded even after a month. The email clearly reflects that the cancellation charges are waived off however no one cares to respond and refund. Very bad customer experience.

Poor, just pub grub. We had visitors from away. No Oysters available even though thats why we went, and they confirmed they had them, poor service, overpriced for what it was
