The food is just fantastic, really good quality proper HOME COOKED Food - you definitely won’t leave feeling hungry, The staff couldn’t be more helpful- Think we have found out new favourite place to eat…

I went to the Bluegrass jam session on the third Wednesday of the month. It had already started early with 19 players. It’s advertised as starting at 20.30. I had travelled a long way to be there but would not have bothered if I’d known it was starting early with 19 players. Please change the advertised time for other players not to make the same fruitless journey.

Lovely little venue, friendly staff and chill atmosphere We didn’t eat here but I’ve been told the food is great too Went for the open mic and it was great, such a responsive and respectful audience 😊

Food was good as normal but portion size was smaller than normally served. A must for real ale drinkers some strange and wonderful beers.

Fabulous home cooked food, great beers. The staff and owner are friendly making the pub have a great comfy atmosphere. They also make the correct gravy for their meats, beef, lamb and chicken gravy. Not just beef as the majority of pubs do!

Good place to eat and have a beer

Came in late on a sunday, actually missed food serving time BUT the owner kindly still served us food when we asked, which was really good of him. 2 x roast beef and a scampi and chips, we all really liked the food. Roast was big and tasty. Other guest said best scampi shes had in ages. Good music in the back ground too. When we are in the area again for holidays we would definately come back.

Such a lovely place to wander into.. dog, and human super friendly. They have a gorgeous little pooch who's so welcoming, but best of all is the overall atmosphere. They're family owned, and really took the time to get to know the locals. And the people you meet there are the friendliest, most welcoming bunch. Definitely hits as the best local pub. Also, VERY decent music, and not so loud that you can't have a conversation, it's a lovely cozy ambience. P.s. don't forget to try the honey they sell, VERY locally made and fantastic

The menu is a bit small, but the food is lovely. Was rather chilly inside, but overall, a place I would recommend.

Great, family friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with exceptional food; never had a bad meal here, and been a few times. Had the lamb special and it was amazing! Service was great, especially considering the place was full. Overall would 100% recommend

Have not been here in years but was amazing back then have kids now we all just been up for food and beer was fresh food was unbelievable so good will we make this a regular visit for sure girl that was serving us so helpful and nice thank you very much see you again soon

I've driven past this place so many times and it's always busy. We went in for a drink there once and wanted to go for a meal. We finally went with friends last night and it didn't disappoint. The food is home cooked, good portions and delicious. The girls who served us were great and it was very Christmassy so a wonderful atmosphere. My only criticism is that our table was near the door and the front door is held open (?) so the freezing cold wind comes in through the inner doors and made it unpleasantly cold. I'd ask for a different table next time but we'll definitely be going back.

We were told by a neighbour to try the Owls nest last January (2023) and we have been coming for Sunday lunch ever since( apart from twice for family reasons) we have a little dachshund who is very well behaved and it’s such a pleasure to be able to take her with us. The food is second to none, I would have a job to compete with the chef and I class myself as a very confident chef of good old fashioned food. This place is a gem, warm and friendly owner and staff. It is a real treat and an absolute pleasure to visit this pub.

Well well. all these years I’ve driven past a little gem. My wife and I just had a lovely lunch.firstly a cosy warm welcome with a smile. The wine come to the table perfectly chilled. The waitress was charming and polite. Then our wonderful roasts arrrived. Piping hot. Perfect in every way.a proper Sunday roast. We dine out all the time at various restaraunts and pubs. This place put Burley manor to shame. We have had an appalling Xmas lunch there. Disgusting infact. Had to send the meals back. And leave. And all other meals there pretty basic in comparison to The owls nest. We had to try the apple crumble. It was apple crumble with that sugary crunchy topping I remember from home. The price was extremely good. So I felt compelled to buy the chef a drink. Our local from now on. Thankyou. Leroy & Kerstin Ps: can we bring our maincoon cat along. He’s on a leash and very chilled out. bigger than your lovely little dog.

A great independent pub. I was looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat while waiting to pick my wife up and stumbled across this place. I went for the quick option of a pub classic (scampi and chips) which was exactly as you would hope and expect. The food coming out to other tables looked excellent and it was busy with regulars which is a good sign. They have a good range of beers and even had a good range of alcohol free ales and lagers which was perfect for me. If I lived closer, I would definitely be back. The landlord and staff we very helpful and welcoming.

A nice, cosy pub! The staff were lovely and very attentive. The menu was good, a nice selection. I got the roast turkey, and it was fine, edible but mediocre at best

Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Our first time here for Sunday lunch. I suggest you don't have breakfast if you go here. The plate was full of delicious food. I had the slow cooked beef and it was the best I've ever had in a pub. My wife had a small portion of Turkey and struggled to get through it. I had Rhubarb Crumble for pudding, again the best I've ever had in a pub. The girls serving were very efficient and attentive. The pub is very old fashioned inside which does not detract from the food, service and value offered. Going back next weekend with friends. A good selection of beers available and also a dog friendly pub.

Great pub. A freehouse with different beers each week. Great home cooked menu, simple choices, with options for vegetarians and vegans. You are always made to feel welcome and never rushed… They have music nights on most weds as well. If you want to experience a good ‘ole British pub, this is the place to come..

Excellent. Both service and food. This quirky little place is one of the few real pubs around. And not one of those 'we are trying to look like a real pub'. It's homely, and welcoming. Definitely worth a return visit.

This building has been in the family for over a 100 years come see this lovely building and enjoy some delicious old fashioned food. He was telling us some lovely stories about his family and how many generations have owned it and he even said the people were out with their phones measuring the difference angles of the floor it's pretty incredible. We haven't stayed in the rooms per se but I imagine there are amazing

Richard and Jackie and their staff run a very pleasant and friendly pub. Customer service is always at the forefront of their business, if they can do it, they will! The food is homemade and fantastic, some great hearty meals or even the lightest, tasty snacks are available. There is always a wide variety of ales, many of them local, so well worth a visit if you like to sample local brews. The clientele are mostly local and very friendly and welcoming, especially if you have a dog!! Occasionally there is entertainment of various kinds, from rock bands to morris dancers and some darts on a Friday night. All in all, I can't fault this local pub, a great pit stop or for a nice evening, you won't be disappointed!!

Don’t you just love a pub which is not a chain? Who doesn’t! This is a gem of West Parley and Ferndown! Great quality yummy food and drink at great affordable prices! The portions are massive so you will never leave on an empty stomach! Lovely, warm, welcoming atmosphere and never any trouble. Various events held and also live music evenings if you fancy a sing or a dance along! Great owners and staff! This is our favourite local and I would recommend them all day long!

Absolutely lovely take away Sunday roast! Arrived to the door less than an hour after we ordered, piping hot, everything well cooked and huge portions..(enough for a cheeky leftover mini portion later). Friendly service, great value and delicious (especially the gravy) thanks guys we'll be back again soon :)

I am a driver for group of friends who go out for lunch regularly. The owls is one of their favourites. Visited on Friday 4th December as a customer this time. Five star review from personal experience. Food was great as was the service and atmosphere. Will visit again soon.

Excellent food. We both took advantage of the Sunday Roast today. We were not disappointed with the Lamb and pork. Plenty of meat, roasts and vegetables, all provided with a tub of very good gravy. We would recommend and we plan to order another one...

Popped back in just before the second lock down. As always Jackie and Richard make everyone welcome. The food is all homemade and there's a good selection of real ales. 1st class old fashioned hospitality
