Food is nice, as is the beer. Pool table and darts inside with sports on tv aswell. Coming back in the future.

Food was disappointing. Overcooked Tinned peas, rubbish mash potato. Meat wasn’t too bad but Thats about best I can say.

Great pub: tasty drinks (including some local beers and a great selection of gins), great atmosphere and good food, and the staff was nice and lovely. On the Sunday they offered us some tasty free curry as well! They allow campervans to stay in their parking lot.

Went for a few drinks with a friend, great beer garden and play area for the kids. Dog friendly and a huge choice of drinks. Showing all the Euros football so will be heading back for some of that. Never tried thr food but the table next to me looked to be served a very nice meal.

A proper pub with a well kept seller and great food to top it all off. Some of the friendly and welcoming staff I have experienced in years. They were helpful when providing an aligens menu with plenty to choose from.

This was the third pub we tried in Rodley looking for one that served food. Pie and peas for £4.50, was good value and the service was friendly and efficient.

Lovely impromptu lunch out with a friend. Very quiet but staff were friendly, and efficient. Really enjoyed the Gammon lunch and my friend had a small scampi which she enjoyed too. we will be back.

Lovely all round and food hot and tasty perfect for are family get togethers and very attractive waiting staff really pleasant and helpful. No complaints at all just more options for vegetarian would be nice.

The Owl pub in Rodley is on the corner of Bagley lane across from the barge pub the 60 , 60a , 16 and number 9 buses go past . Great food , large portions, good service, friendly staff . They have free pool and a darts board , sky TV for football , rugby , news ect + quiz nights , open mike night on Sundays .The dining area is large and echoes but could benefit more if it were cosyer. They have a smaller eating area where they can cater for all kinds of buffet's . Other than that a great place to go.

It's a great pub I've visited many times I didn't have the food but when the staff came past with food it looked nice.

Food was good and kids portions were huge. Great fish and chips (kids). We visited mid week early afternoon and was very quiet. Nice play area for kid's and good beer selection

Pool table, beer garden, good sized car park, restauranty room. Also there's a function room you can hire for free I think.

This place has changed ownership so many times over the last 8 years or so that I've been going. Each owner has brought positive and negative changes in different areas, always resulting in a different experience each time. 1st time I visited the food was great as were the choice of drinks. Throughout the different owners, the food has either been poor and the drinks choice good or great food with poor drinks. It has always felt each time that the target customers had changed, from cosy smart looking to a rough pub with no atmosphere. The Barge across the road hasn't ever changed and I always know what to expect whereas The Owl has been different every time over the years, never any consistency. I noticed back at the start of January that a small window in the men's toilets was smashed with a big hole in it. I reported it to the bar maid there at the time in case they didn't know but as of 23rd march it's still smashed. Recent visits look like the current owner is taking it in the right direction, with the place being repainted, new menu's and a fairly decent choice of drinks (I do think there needs to be more choice of ales again). There's a lot still for them to do which could explain the broken window but I believe that's a result of previous owners letting the place go downhill, but as I mentioned, recent improvements look promising. Hope this place can be returned to its former glory.

Went for mother's Day. The service was not good and the environment fet quite uninviting. To be fair the meal was nice and the portion sizes were decent . I wouldn't go back though

Nice local, friendly pub. I have lived round this area most if my life. The Owl pub has always been a lovely local pub with somewhere secure for the kids to play out back.

Had a beautifully presented and tasty home made Sunday dinner would highly recommend just a little bit more mash needed though lol

Booked a family meal. Booked for 5.45pm. I ordered the Sunday dinner. When it came out, the veg looked dry, the gammon was small dried up pieces and the Yorkshire pudding burnt. The meal was part cold and part luke warm. I complained and they took it back to reheat it. It came back in the same state. Apparently the waitress told my daughter that as they stopped serving at 6pm, they had held back some of the Sunday lunch in case anyone wanted any. In other words it wasn't freshly cooked. I did get a refund and a free drink, and ended up eating some of my daughters leftover fish and chips . Would not recommend this pub for food and certainly won't be going back.

This pub has just been taken over by new management recently. It's the only pub in the village that really does food so was hoping that hadn't changed. I messaged them on Friday teatime to ask if this was still the case and they quickly replied and told me what time until. I had a chicken burger and chips and was very impressed. The real ale offerings were the same as before (st austell I think, black sheep and ossett blonde) . All seemed up to scratch and would recommend them.

When we went in it was bank holiday plastic glasses and full of kids not my idea of good nut I'm sure lots of families loved it beer was good no food menu on that day

Went in for meal, big line. One staff serving, eventually got served, no table service. I am disabled and had to stand. When food came the steak I could have made a pair boots with it it was all fat no steak it’s well overpriced for what it is need to change the fat for the onion rings. Lasagna didn’t taste good I don’t think he’s a proper chef will not use this place again I think they should just stick to selling beers and leave the food business alone will not be coming back ever.

Excellent value for money. Clean and spacious with very pleasant staff. The food is good and is prepared fresh for you. There was one error made on my order which was very quickly rectified and did not spoil my experience at all. I had a mixed grill, which was made up of very nicely prepared meats and fresh salad. Thoroughly recommended!

Left feeling disappointed, gristly burgers and a very odd tasting haddock (should have been spotted by the chef PRIOR to serving) resulted in being pretty underwhelmed at £30 Inc drinks 😩

Great food. Steak and ale pie highly recommended. Ossett Blonde pint was perfect. Friendly place. We called in whilst walking down the Leeds / Liverpool canal. Food available Wednesday lunchtime. Very good, clean, toilet facilities. We will definitely be going again.

Went for Sunday lunch and there was a choice of beef or gammon, I chose beef but regretted it as I could have soled my shoes with it. Also could have done with more vegetables. It was quite pricey for what we had. They didn't even have horseradish or French mustard!

Very quiet for a Saturday night with an England football match on. I didn't think it deserved to be quiet as the welcome we got was great and the beer was good. If I lived nearer I would use it as my local.

Its a solid 6 out of 10 meat was really good veg let it down but I'm a high class green grocer so it's always going to be hard for you to please it was ok for we couldn't be bothered making our own 👍

To be fair we did book half hour before kitchen closes. The rump steak came out as sirloin and was creamated so not edible and the scampi was hard. The worst meal of the week.

Not a great advert for a place to dine. After hearing good reviews about The Owl, we decided to book the venue to accommodate 45 people for a wake following the funeral of my mother. When we arrived we were asked to move to a small area at the rear of three pub which could maybe fit a dozen or so. My sister asked to be moved to a more suitable locaion so they asked the current diners in the main area to move out to accommodate us all! They didn't appear to be too happy. The buffet food was average to be fair with defrosted, soggy quiche being the talking point and dozens of sandwiches left to dry up. Needless to say there was plenty of food left over at the end of the event which we asked to be bagged up then threw away in the skip. Certainly not worth the £7.50 per head we were charged. Would not recommend for a buffet event.

Sunday Lunch is being served now since re- opening. Generous portions and cooked perfectly. Plenty of outside seating too and a little kids playground.

Cracking local. Their Eagle Owl burger is a hell of a thing.

Decent pint and added bonus of play area out back, so kids can burn off some energy while you relax over a refreshing pint of whatever you fancy

Had a Sunday roast on the 18th October 2020 the staff were excellent, efficient and followed covid protocol correctly. Unfortunately the Cook managed to ruin decent food ! half chicken totally dried out with the skin rock hard, roast potatoes skins rock hard left unturned on the baking tray for too long same goes for the root vegetables. Unfortunately I was on a time schedule so didn't have time to complain I ate what I could paid my bill and left. £12.50 for an edible food far too expensive.

The old woman behind the bar was very rude. We spent the rest of the afternoon in a different, friendlier pub.

We went at Christmas for Christmas lunch. Cutlery amounted to fork and spoon. We were Sat at a table next to a door where people where pushing past us to get in .A lot where smelling of smoke. I had to ask for a plate when the 1st course arrived. Wine was luke warm. 4 out of 5 courses were rubbish but I suppose you can't spoil sorbet you just have to spoon it out.£130 later we left after telling the truth to the waitress.

Brilliant service and a calm atmosphere

Standards of the carvery are slipping. The staff are unprofessional, singing and chatting loudly and generally acting like kids. A manager is needed here. The dining area is very poorly lit so it's dingy and quite dark in the main eating area. Just better than a tiny but only just.

Stopped off here for lunch after a morning walk along the canal with the dog and friends from Oak men. Really good food and a good selection of items for everyone including the children.Well worth a visit

This venue is very child friendly and a pleasure to visit. The chef is a jolly old fellow who takes pride in his food with both taste and presentation. The bar staff are a bundle of joy. I will certainly continue to take my family here and will most definitely be pre booking Christmas Dinner again.
