The Orient Express Buffet in Forest Heath

Now renamed as GreenBox Sushi, this Japanese restaurant is no longer a buffet. Inside the seating is very dark and dingy, with delivery supplies and clutter over half of the tables. We decided to eat outside as it was lovely weather. The menu we were given to browse was paper stapled together, no lamination or design. When ordering I asked for coke, which was on their menu, they didn’t have coke so we had to opt for Pepsi. When taking my food order the receptionist told me that they were busy with lots of deliveries and had to go ask the kitchen staff if it was okay to take my order! I had the tofu ramen and my partner had the pork ramen with a side of gyozas. Gyozas were fried instead of steamed, no sauce provided and were luke warm in the middle. I believe they cost £6.50, so from a price point this is quite underwhelming. However the ramen was delicious! We opted for the spicy broth and it went lovely with the tofu and beansprouts! Definitely would recommend the ramen as it’s full of flavour and quite a large portion! I was again disappointed that the cutlery provided was a fork and spoon. We eat Japanese and Chinese cuisine often at home as I’m a huge fan of recreating dishes, we are used to eating with chopsticks and it felt very wrong eating ramen with a fork! I would suggest investing in washable steel chopsticks, that way you save chopstick waste but keep the authentic Asian feeling.

Such a great little restaurant. Super sweet owner. They gave lots of great Chinese & Japanese options. Grandma’s spicy honey chicken is one of our favorites. You really can’t go wrong with anything here! Quick delivery for takeaway and also and nice place to sit in and eat!

Tried Sunday roast, potatoes bit raw , meat good Had Chinese takeaway several times , very good !!! Will be using more now as shops difficult to use

I heard about this place from a colleague of mine. We decided to give it a go and upon arrival found there was a band and many patron gathered around. We were shown our seats on the opposite end of the building. Which didn't bother me at all. I ordered the crab ragoons, roast duck fried rice and a still water. The crab ragoons were over fried, but the filling was great. The roast duck fried rice though... the dish came out luke warm. Which immediately struck me as odd. Typically a dish like that comes out piping hot. Still, I ate anyhow. The waitstaff were nice enough. We paid and left. A few hours passed and I started to get major stomach cramps. I spent the night running to the bathroom. I believe may have been onset from some form of food born illness from this place. I won't be eating there again.

Always had brilliant takeaway but sadly just had ours delivered in the chicken balls there were dried chips, and the chow mein semi cold and tasteless, the chilli shredded beef soggy , so sadly won't be back, really thought you owned it, but so disappointed tonight

Very poor selection and all tasted dry Pancakes could of been used as frisbees Whilst in dining room a man continued to saw and fix a machine No desserts and when asked for more was told none left Very expensive and not value or quality for the money you pay Restaurant does not feel like a restaurant Very disappointed and would not recommend Over £100 we spent on a family night out and was awful

Enjoyed the carvery . Only small problem we found was the dinner wasnt very hot and we did speak to someone regarding it at the time . Was all fresh food .

We were put at the back of the restaurant as we had a child with us , even tho there was only 2 other people in the building at the time, chairs pile up next to us and building work in the corner, food was Luke warm and barley any duck , how can you bring out fresh noodles and they are still Luke warm is a mystery, overpriced , The deserts were pitiful and the only cake must have been there a while as it was so dry it stuck to the roof of your mouth, When the chef then started to do some of his building work with his electric screwdriver near our table it really added to the ambiance...not, Then after doing some of his diy he went to the food and started to turn over the dishes, Over priced , poor quality luke warm food, Avoid

£17.00 for a buffet style meal with very little choice nothing to write home about. However, a few weeks later we decided to try the Sunday carvery and that was a big mistake also. The food was terrible, hard uncooked potatoes, raw carrots and squelched to nothing broccoli and cauliflower. In fact they poured hot water over the vegetables to try to keep them hot and this ended up in them serving slush. As for the meat portions, the very least amount of meat in any carvery I have had anywhere in the world. The gammon was sliced so thin it was see through and i got one of them and one slice of equally thing chicken. In fact i complained because this was not value for money at all so he cut me another half slice - yeah thanks.

The food was good but unable to communicate with staff effectively, due to the language barrier I couldn’t enjoy myself fully. I would hope to see some diversity in that area but everything food wise was okay

The Orient Express Saturday Buffet was marked by having some tasty options, but a very narrow selection. There were such Chinese classics as chips and onion rings, and one steam try was for satay sauce. There were sarcasm aside, tempura prawns, and some shell on prawns were available. But that was the limits of any seafood options and veggie options were rounded out with one tofu dish, spring rolls, and an omelette. For meat eaters there was a chicken heavy selection, but a decent meal could be had. Plates are small. Okay it may cut waste, but it does require far more journeys to the buffet, and thus cramps any conversation at the tables. While the trays were periodically filled there were a couple of times that the seafood dishes were empty and there (unlike many Asian themed restaurants) was no rice on offer, and the noodles were rather runny. So taste - good, selection - medium, efficiency - needs some work.

For years we have gone to another well known chinese in Brandon but thought we'd give the orient Express a go. We were not disappointed! First time was for a mid week meal (not buffet) and we loved it so much if we have a takeaway we only go here now. Everything is fresh and hot and is certainly the best in the area by a mile. Well done Orient Express as I'm very fussy so my praise does not come lightly.

Had a Sunday dinner delivered did not know what to expect it was cooked to perfection. don't know how they did so well to keep all the food at this quality at your door.as good as though you where in the restaurant .highly recommended.

Really not good. Huge banner outside saying they serve sushi, but they told us they haven't served it in 6 months. Staff unaware of the HUGE banner outside the place they work?? Buffet was never restocked even though they kept telling us they would. Loads of items just never restocked in the hour plus we were there. What they did have in the pans, just wasn't that good. Wait staff were not good about taking away plates, or remembering to bring our drinks. Cannot recommend this place at all. There are plenty on nearby Chinese places to go to. Stay away.

2nd visit. First visited under the impression we would have the all you could eat buffet. Unfortunately the day we visited the decision had been made to change this to mainly weekends. Saying that the al a carte menu we ordered from was pretty good. So second visit, so looking forward to sushi and all the menu through the post promised but no. Our friends thought the food was ok. I must say I was disappointed. No sushi. Many of the dishes not replenished enough - I didn’t have many dishes as the trays were empty, so I can honestly say I felt short changed for what we were charged. Didn’t have dessert. Ice cream Machine not working ( I would have been happy with that) the sweet area, was very odd, tinned fruit, Iceland gateaux ( that’s what it looked like to me). To be fair service was good. I’m afraid I won’t be going back unless food improves

Disappointed that there was no shushi but the web site shows this. It needs to be updated deleting sushi photographs. The food was good but very slow in refilling the buffet. Requires more staff as there were only two on duty to cover the tables and bar.

Last minute decision to have a carvery, once again it was scrummy and even better they always have boiled potatoes which is perfect for someone on slimming world..plently of vegetables to choose from and the meat is always beautiful.

Have had Sunday roast here twice now and it is extremely good value for more. Plenty of choice and excellent service. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. They even sourced gluten free dessert for me which is probably the best Zgf chocolate sponge I’ve ever had. Thank you. We will be back

Went to eat here when we stayed at the Bridge Hotel. We selected our dishes from the menu, the food was obviously freshly cooked and everything was delicious. Both food and drinks were very ewasonably priced and we will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

We as a family of two children and two adults went with friends went here for the first time, me and hubby are not a big fan of Chinese food but did enjoy what was on offer. It was nice to be able to try different dishes. The staff were 5 star but the price is a bit steep, we paid over £60 for two adults and two children.

Visited this one Saturday Evening. The staff welcomed us warmly and looked after us beautifully all evening. The food was excellent and everything is cook3d 8n small portions and constantly being replenished so it is always fresh.

We stopped here for dinner on the way back home.

Popped in here to give it a try one Saturday lunchtime. Was very worried to be the only people when we walked in... But I needn't of worried at all. Buffet was lovely. I really enjoyed the food and the staff were very friendly and approachable. Very good value for money as the food is really good and lots of choice. Would recommend people to try this place.

Been here a few times now for the Chinese food. By far the best in the area, I’ve tried them all. Owner and staff are superb. Buffet at the weekends is great value. I recommend grandmas chicken. All in all a solid choice.

We travel up to West Norfolk from Essex about once a month and found this cafe/restaurant by accident. What a find! Obviously a successful Chinese restaurant by night but during the day serves good food at reasonable prices for breakfast and lunch. Try it - you won’t be disappointed

We visited the buffet on Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. We had great service from Victor who went and prepared some extra vegan friendly food for our guests - we could not have asked for more.

We wanted a place to meet with family during our stay at Center Parcs....found the Orient Express through Google and liked the idea of Oriental buffet. I phoned ahead as there were 6 of us, the young lady who I spoke to explained they no longer did buffet Mon-Thurs.....fair enough, we had a family chat and decided to give it a go. We were all glad we did.

Six of us went on Monday evening. We thought they were doing a buffet but the owner explained that not many customers were coming early in the week so they are now only doing the buffet from Thursday. No problem, we could order from the menu. We ordered at least twelve dishes . Quite a long wait which wasn’t surprising and the dishes began to arrive all beautifully freshly prepared. As the table filled we had some doubts that we’d be able to get through it all. We did leave the odd piece of pepper or cabbage but the rest disappeared. The surrounding are not particularly attractive but the food is good. The prawn dishes contained large king prawns. The chicken dishes had plenty of chicken. The vegetables were nicely cooked retaining some crunch . I think we had a very good selection which may well have been better than having a buffet. The waitress was excellent and the owner was keen to ensure we enjoyed our meal. Very good value!

Ordered for 1st time a takeaway from here, delivered hot, food tasty and absolutely delicious . Highly recommend. Certainly the best in Brandon, keep up the high standard. Can't wait to try the buffet .

Just got back from a meal out with my Husband. After reading mixed reviews we didn’t know what to expect..

Enjoyed a very tasty meal. Something for everyone in our family party ( not always easy to achieve). Chinese, Thai and Japanese food all very enjoyable. Very pleasant staff too. Will be back next time we visit Brandon.

After hearing great things about this restaurant I reserved a table for my husband and I for 5 PM, opening time.

Good service, good food, nice friendly staff, what more could you want? Will definately be going back.

Been here three times now and it’s never failed to impress. A much better range of veggie food than I had expected although a few more like sweet and sour veg would be nice and perhaps a better range of desserts, the cake was very dry. Fast friendly service, will definitely be visiting again soon!

One thing that has been missing in Brandon is a buffet styled Asian or oriental restaurant. It is really great to have encountered this one. We have become regular visitors. Apart from the great food, the staff are very helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed.

First takeaway from here and really enjoyed it. Much better than the ones elsewhere I have had in recent weeks. Will def be back and will try the buffet sometime soon.

As usual the food here was fantastic. The choice is great, from Chinese to Japanese with sushi in the mix. Don't forget the Mr whippy self serve ice cream machine as well.

The food was delicious,lots of choices, constant hot fresh dishes being replenished as soon as they emptied.The dessert table was also lovely,I even had fun with the whippy ice cream machine .The staff were friendly and very efficient,fun evening had by all,will definitely be returning .

We are looking to live in the area and came down to look at houses at the weekend. It's the best all you can eat I have ever had. All was fresh and tasted amazing. Didn't have any pudding so can't comment on those. There is not massive of options to choose like others all you can eats I have been to before. However everything they did have was perfect for me. I love duck and pancakes and it was yummy. As I find some all you can eat please don't do duck! They also have seaweed again another of my favourites and I don't know any other all you can eat that does seaweed. Will definitely be going back when in the area.

Not sure why we didn't try this before. We received a friendly welcome and were asked during after the meal whether everything was OK. There was a good choice of tasty food and the place looked super clean.

I can't believe we have left it so long!!!! On arrival we were made to feel very welcome, given the drinks menu and asked if we had any food allergies. As it was our first time the buffet was explained and then off we went. Wow, what a selection, after trying most of the starters, we then moved on to the mains. All the dishes we tried were all hot and very tasty, the teriyaki chicken was one of our favourites, I also tried the tofu which is something I have never tried before, this also was really nice and I would defiantly have it again. The best bit for me was the sushi, just wish there was more variety, as this really is my favourite. All the staff were very efficient clearing plates and getting drinks. For me the only thing that slightly let it down was, that is was very noisy, and we found it hard to have a conversation, but this just shows how popular it is, as it was rather full. Would love to see more oriental desserts. Will definitely be coming back very soon!!!!

The food was basic some was dry like it had been there awhile. Might be best to do one type of food well than trying to a few badly.Staff & decor just ok. We were looking forward to going but we're very disappointed, don't think we would revisit there are so many other places to eat in Brandon.

This was our first visit to the Orient Express and we were really impressed. We will make this one of our regular places to eat.

Went with work colleague's for leaving do. Prebooked table as we were a large party. Food was great and the staff are very friendly, would definately recommend it.

We visited late on a Wednesday night and the owner asked if we would like any more dishes cooked as the buffet was low. They couldn't have been more helpful and made sure we had everything we needed, including yummy chicken and sweetcorn soup , special fried rice crisy duck pancakes and an old family recipe of spicey sticky chicken.

had a lovely welcome from the staff, there is a great choice of dishes. great flavours. we have nothing like this in Ely, so this is not a bad drive to get to. and well worth traveling here. will come here again very soon. many thanks to the lovely staff.

The Orient Express was conveniently within a short walking distance of where we were briefly staying and we had been told that it offered a variety of Asian cuisines - so we decided to give it a try. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and the staff are friendly.

Around 30 in our group arrived around 7:00pm, being a buffet everyone was able to eat at the same time. Staff are excellent and food, as always was very nice, dishes are kept filled and food was hot. Good selection. Everyone had a good time.

Recently my Dad, Brother and I were staying in Brandon for 2 nights.

Been a few times now, staff are lovely. Food is really tasty and a wide range of popular dishes, will be regular place for us to dine, Mr Whippy ice cream machine fab idea my son loves it . We need to use our local places to eat when they’re this good or we’ll lose them.

Me and my partner have been here twice in the last few months. There is a fairly good choice of food and most of it tastes nice. We were disappointed with the duck as it isn’t shredded like a normal Chinese takeaway/restaurant, it is more like duck dust - chopped into tiny pieces, hard to pick up and doesn’t make a good meaty duck pancake. They only make special fried rice which isn’t great for people that don’t eat prawns and only eat egg fried rice or boiled rice. The plates are tiny and in my opinion doesn’t make people eat less, it just makes the food area busier because people are getting up every 5 mins for more. The deserts are but naff and the ice cream machine and cones is a great idea except for it was quite watery/ milk-like. Soft drinks (coke etc) bit flat so not sure whether they use large bottles rather than a machine. My main issue was that there were flies buzzing round the restaurant and where the food was... can’t really be helped when all of the windows are doors are propped open as it was during the really hot weather - perhaps could invest in some air con and replace the free standing fan that is quite annoying to sit next to? The restaurant itself looks a bit dated and could do with a makeover. They charge £14.99 per person which I think is somewhat overpriced for the standard. You pay upfront for the meal and your first drink and any drinks after that you have to go back to the bar and pay there and then which isn’t great. In summary, I think this restaurant is ok, however there is definitely room for improvement.

Having been to this buffet 4-5 times now I have yet to be let down!

We so wanted this place to be good because it is local and we like chinese buffets. But i have to say comparing OE to the chinese we usually use. The OE loses hands down the food was luke warm. Food had no distinct taste even though there was a lot on offer. Dessert was a choice of tinned peaches pineapple lychees jelly and chocolate cake.

Third time in, still impressed whit the quality of the food and the brilliant service provided, immensely friendly.

Went this evening as a family with our 5 year old and had a great evening - lovely chatty staff, interactive & friendly - not in anyway over attentive. Great selection of food, loved the duck pancakes and a really good selection of food, including vegetarian options. Our son loved the ice cream for desert, will definitely be back!

We had a family of 4 adults and 2 children. The buffet was wonderful. It gave us a chance to try a bit of everything. Even stuff we were not sure about! Highly recommended, even the kids enjoyed it and the chef took the time to come and speak to us about our preferences. A couple of small things that may be corrected is that one room is slightly like a corridor so you may not want to sit there while other diners are moving to and fro to the buffet. The other thing is that the staff are rather "over-attentive" so we did feel as if we were being "watched" a little too much. That said we would go again.

Staff is very nice but that would be the only up side I see. The food is "OK" nothing special and definitely not worth the price. The chicken and shrimp in multiple dishes was dry and overcooked. The rice in the sushi tasted old and hard like it was made the day before, This is only 30 minutes into them opening so I know it should have been fresh. The shrimp tempera did taste good. This experience was "Ok" but I was left disappointed and wishing I had gone to my usual place. Would I go here again? Unfortunately not

We were disappointed the food was very basic alot of the trays were empty, so not much food to chose from. The staff didn't interact at all, & they were definitely not busy. Would not visit again

I am saddened that this place is as bad as it is. We made the most of what we had but it still was a disappointment to every member of my group. Will be surprised if the same business is still there by Christmas

Visited with a friend, was really impressed with the quality of food on offer. Lots of starters, crispy duck, countless mains to try along with rice and noodle options...dessert too!! The food was piping hot throughout our time there, would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great food.

Went here on evening 8th and had a fantastic meal. Read and heard that it was good so decided to try it. Well worth the visit. Price astounding for the variety of food on offer and to a high quality and very fresh , none of this 7hrs basking in water trough, as happens in a lot of buffet type restaurants. Sushi Thai and Chinese food to a high standard. Victor and staff very helpful and friendly. If this standard maintained this is a contender for best restaurant in Brandon. I will definitely be back.

Visited for the first time, was pleased with the opening offer of the free drink. Very welcoming staff, very well setup inside, with a good selection of food (more sushi options would be nice). Will visit again but personally I hope the opening price of £14.99 doesn’t increase too much!

I so wanted this to be good. I eat from their mobile van every week and greatly enjoy their grandma’s spicy honey chicken.

Had a teriyaki salmon bento box for lunch, would recommend this for sure. Fresh, crisp veg along with perfectly cooked rice & spring rolls. The portions were very generous, I couldn’t finish it all but didn’t feel guilty leaving the small amount I did, as they price was very reasonable. Staff couldn’t do enough to ensure you were happy. Would love to try the buffet sometime too.

Very friendly atmosphere combined with delicious food made for a great meal. There was quite an assortment of dishes which meant that my fussy/vegetarian family all found something they liked. The food was all fresh and often replenished, couldn’t fault it. Thanks guys, see you again very soon

This is the best all you can eat restaurant I’ve eaten in. The food was delicious, hot and fresh (the trays are constantly being replenished so food is not sat around). The staff are lovely, especially victor! We will definitely be back!

It’s advertised that the place serves Japanese, Chinese, Thai and sushi (which is included in the Japanese cuisine already but ok), so you assume that there is diversity and that the place must be booming. Wel.... it is most certainly not.

A great place to eat and spend a relaxing evening. We were five people, 3 adults and 2 children, the food was very nice and the staff very friendly. We paid about £63 for 2 adults all you can eat buffet, 1 child (my one year old daughter didn't pay) and 4 drinks. Defenetly a nice place.

Very handy for popping in straight off the train from school! Plenty of choice and great quality unlike some buffets I've experienced. Really friendly and attentive staff, constantly checking food temperatures etc. Looking forward to a return trip soon.

Great place for an informal really good meal. Not very spacious but good food and really friendly staff, the manager interacts with the customers asking for suggestions on variaties of food. I really recommend this place for a family meal.
