The cafe was quite disappointing. I had the red pepper soup, which lacked flavour and was so thin and watery I couldn't eat it with a spoon - it was splashing everywhere! I ended up drinking it out of the bowl! This was served with a chunky slice of bread, which was fine, but not good value overall. The cakes were adequate, but a bit dry and the Victoria sponge was fairly basic. No clotted cream available for scones. I thought the food choices were very limited and could definitely have been better. As others have said, next time I'd bring a picnic.

We only visited the cafe and whilst the gravel seating area in the kitchen garden is extremely attractive, the service in the cafe was disappointing. This was not down to the individual staff but there appeared to be a lack of management and direction of available staff. Surely when the queue grows to more than half a dozen people staff should be redirected to help behind the food service counter. Also cutlery and crockery were not being replenished quickly enough. Customers ordering food requiring preparation need to be given an order number e.g a numbered wooden spoon to be displayed on tables. Sandwiches should be checked that they are not frozen.

Lovely view, sitting overlooking the kitchen garden. Tables with umbrellas for a bit of shade but as for the food! They boast that they use the produce from their own garden so in Summer you anticipate scrummy salads, maybe a homemade quiche full of veggie promise. Instead you get pea soup or lamb casserole or jacket potatoes . More in keeping with a chilly day in November and something that can be heated in the microwave. I’ve been coming to Ham House for a number of years and I don’t think the situation has been any different. Maybe it’s time for a rethink about the menu?

This café is exactly what you expect from a National Trust site. Cream Tea never disappoints. Look out for the small crows seeking to relieve you of the leftovers

We only had a tea & coffee at the Orangery on this occasion. It was a lovely hot day so we sat outside on the terrace. It was a lovely setting, overlooking the Kitchen Garden. I found it really relaxing watching the bees and butterflies in the sunshine.

This restaurant had such potential, but they just didn't have any suitable meal offerings I could safely eat as someone with a dairy allergy. My husband's chutney and cheese sandwich was delicious, according to him. The young man serving was very sweet though.

We did not have time to visit the house but had lunch in the cafe. It was a sunny day so we sat outside where there are lots of tables and parasols. The soup was good with a chunk of bread, and the sandwiches were ok. The cream for the scones was ‘off’ but they replaced it. Service is a bit patchy, even though it wasn’t very busy it took a while to order and pay.

The food is stuck in the 80's and not in a good way - unimaginative, tasteless, cheap. Lowest quality food you can probably get away with these days. Coffee? Abysmal! I can taste old, burnt coffee beans - nowhere near today's standards. On the plus side, ambience is ok and the staff seemed friendly, but for me it's the food that matters even if it means paying more. Very disappointed as we live close and would like to go there regularly.

Asked for a glass for the bottle of lemonade we had purchased and were told to use a plastic cup because glasses" are hard to clean but I suppose you can have one if you really want." No thought for the environment or the customer. My frittata would have been ok if it could have decided if it was warm or cold, I suppose the microwave heating was uneven. Poor experience.

Staff were perfectly nice but inexperienced and overwhelmed. The system is chronic - a long queue with two people doing everything including taking the money, so you wait while coffees are made, soup is dispensed, cream teas are assembled..... before you can pay. When we arrived, there was one sandwich left in the cabinet, hot food was no longer being served, so just cakes and coffee. The cakes looked good. My wife asked for a decaf cappuccino but no decaf. Altogether very disappointing when you compare it with other NT cafes.

As NT members we can eat here, rather a shame that unlike other properties that there isn't a open cafe for non paying visitors. Simple lunch , but the staff didn't listen to the order, so when it arrived it was incorrect, I was fairly abruptly told that I hadn't been charged for the missing dish so I wasn't out of pocket, I was a bit surprised at this as I had been clear about my order which had been confirmed back to me. An additional staff member then added to the confusion and in doing so forget he was actually making coffees and promptly spilled a lot of milk over the coffee machine. I did get the missing plate of food, but no apology was offered. Yet again it is a usual thing with NT properties that staff training is missing or at the very least inadequate. Ham House is a lovely place, it is local and we will continue to visit, but we really wish that a ordering a simple salad lunch would be easy to organise without the degree of hassle it so often seems to be.

Nice day so sat outside in the very pleasant garden. All ok but the Afternoon Cream Tea does not include tea!!!! What a nonsense! You have to buy it separately. £3.95 for one scone, Jam @ cream is not a bargain.

The Orangery Cafe is in an old building in the walled kitchen garden within the Ham House national trust property. The Cafe has a large number of indoor and outdoor tables and is better than the average for a National Trust cafe.

The interior is charmingly vintage and romantic, with quick service and parking available. Most of the food is grown locally and organic. Desserts are not tasty and overly sweet. The rest of the food isn’t extraordinary but still delicious.

Visted yesterday and found the cafe very overpriced - £5.95 for a sausage roll that literally dripped fat all over the table - you can get half a dozen much nicer ones at Greggs for that 😂 Chocolate cake looked good but at £5.25 a slice we gave it a miss, likewise £11.50 for a baked potato with sausage and onions. My latte didn't appear to have much milk in it (clue should be in the name) and the service wasn't particularly friendly either. Dirty crockery was piling up and not being cleared - I'm guessing they were short of staff. Hampton Court Palace is one of my absolute favourite places but this little cafe really needs some TLC.

We've just come back from a walk in the Park and a halfway break at this little cafe. What a gem! The owner of the cafe, Mario, was so friendly and welcoming. We had a nice coffee and yummy pastries. Highly recommend. Plan to return to try their homemade pizzas.
