Very nice, popular micropub with none of the cheap shop conversion vibe. Bar snacks, usually four cask beers on, well kept. Seems to have good wine offers too.

Great venue. Very reasonably priced (£3.80 for a locally brewed beer, £5.50ish for a brand) and lovely atmosphere. I'll be there more often

Possibly the best micro pub in the area including those in Newcastle and Gateshead. Just liked the look of the place, Good atmosphere. Especially liked it had mainstream beers for those who don’t want keg. Fair prices. To top it all loved the branded glasses that even the staff agreed would look good in Lancashire.

Definitely the best bar staff in Whickham and hands down the greatest selection of drinks to be found in the wider Whickham area. Why go anywhere else?? You’d have to be a fool.

As I had firstly visited this Micro Bar earlier in the week, and enjoyed the visit. Plenty of different real ales, from different breweries to be had, and a very good pint. I decided to catch the bus up to Wickham again to give it another go. When I arrived the One Eyed Stag, was exceptionally busy, so was everywhere else, in the vicinity. Anyway when I made it to the bar I was asked was I part of the party. To which I replied no. “Sorry Sir, we have a private party here”. I left very disappointed to say the least, after all it had took me best part of an hour, to get there on public transport. So if you are traveling to this Micro pub, be careful as there is a chance you may be refused service. As it happens, just further along the road there are another four pubs that all sell real ale, served with a good standard, so please be wary of the One Eyed Stag, refusing you service.

I'm of the personal opinion that it wasn't micro enough to be called a micro pub... I expect a teeny tiny hole in the wall. This was way more. A beautiful pub, multiple tables, wonderfully polite staff. Excellent drinks. A wonderful large window in which to people watch. ... Highly recommended.

Love and miss the Stag. Great little micropub with good ever-changing local ales on cask and Beavertown on keg. This is a drinker's pub – no sport, no dartboard or loud music etc. Staff are friendly and bar snacks tasty! Looking forward to getting back there after lockdown.

Have visited here lots of times but this is the first since lockdown was lifted . As always a warm welcome, great selection of beers and great measures in place to keep everyone safe . Well worth a visit.

Lovely afternoon spent with friends sampling their cheese board and wine offer £17. The cheese board came with a selection of cheeses, olives, grapes crackers and chutney. The generous portions were more than enough for three and would have been ample to share between 4. The micro pub has a lovely atmosphere with friendl staff and host. A lovely alternative to the large chain pubs. A good selection of beers and gins on with lots of offers available.

It seemed like a bit of a gamble when this place opened, but it really is a fantastic pub and a great place to visit when visiting Whickham. Small, with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere, it has a definite local feel, and the beer’s not bad either!Highly recommended

Another long weekend in the area , visiting / revisiting Micro pubs and watching football The One Eyed Stag goes from strength to strength with an excellent beer range., good quality/value snacks and exemplary service from Victoria, Louise and team..Sunday has live music and was full all afternoon.Look forward to returning in the summer.

We really like this mini pub. Nice atmosphere, good selection of drinks and week night deals make it a good visit!We always end up staying for a few more than planned.Seems to be family run which is always nice to support in the local area.

This place is a very nice place to drop in on your outing, it has something on the drinks menu to satisfy everyone`s taste with a great variety cask ales.

Fizz Friday. Prosecco at £10 A bottle. Optional cheese platters. Booked a table in advance as we were a large group. Cosy room. Lots of friendly chatter. Staff lovely.

Great addition to village life..

Micropub but no craft selection. Just mainstream so offers nothing different. Stood at the bar for a few minutes whilst the lady behind the bar and was chatting to her friends, didn't stop her conversation to even acknowledge us so after a few minutes we walked out only for her to shout 'just be a few minutes guys'. Basic service lessons needed. We left as we didn't want to be an inconvenience and interrupt. Place will struggle if that's how they think service works and they really need better than Birra Morretti and guiness on tap.
