What a brilliant find! This little cafe is licensed, dog friendly, very inviting. Squishy sofas and proper tables and wonderfully eclectic decor. We had a hot beef sandwich with toasties, great coffee. Really close to a lovely woodland walk too. Cash is preferred to pay. Very happy to recommend ☺️

Decided to give this place a try after a recommendation and so glad we did. All three of us opted for the Full English Breakfast and we enjoyed every bit of it. It was served by the very friendly and polite Janice who ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Our meal was so filling it set us up for the rest of the day. Whilst waiting the short time for your meal to arrive do take the opportunity to look around the walls which are quaintly decorated with memorabilia. Will certainly call again when we are next in the area.

Visited following completing a parkrun at Chopwell Woods. The cafe is just as you come out of the Main track to the woods and the nearest cafe to parkrun. Cash only at venue. The owner is very friendly and very accommodating. Scones are freshly baked by owner. We visited at 11am so it was the breakfast menu - we had bacon and egg buns and 2 hot drinks, £18 which is about the standard price these days. All was very nice and bonus points for Heinz tomato sauce. Tea served from a small pot so you get 2 cupfuls. Small selection of cakes on offer also. The place itself is rather quirky - music memorabilia and a lovely old fashioned juke box which is free to use. Toilet facilities great. Great visit would recommend to all - especially park runners do pop in and support the cafe.

We visited Beat 'n' track cafe on a Sunday afternoon after a stroll through Chopwell forest. It's an ideal place for a stop off mid walk. We found a seat promptly and were served shortly after. We ordered: 2 x Flat Whites (Cows Milk) 1 x Cheese Scone 1 x Lemon Cheesecake 1 x Red Velvet Cake Total: £16.40(ish). The flat whites were great, good temperature with a strong coffee flavour, not overly milky. The cheese scone was not the best I have ever had. While it tasted nice, it was let down by its texture, with a slightly powdery exterior. The lemon cheesecake was delicious. It had a full and creamy texture paired well with a zesty lemon curd, that wasn't too tart. The red velvet cake was light and bouncy. The interior has a really quirky design, made up of upcycled pieces of old furniture etc. The great thing about this is that there is lots to look at. The toilets were very clean and looked like they had recently been renovated. I'll definitely be back.

Joy awaits, within or without. Walk in the woods, then feel the joy. Great coffee, delicious cheese scone. This time we popped in on the off chance, next time I’ll plan to visit as the people ordering breakfast brought on an attack of food envy. Note: Business is cash only, worth it for the joy.

Ordered water and there were small particles of dirt in the bottom of the glass bottle they provided. Unfortunately I only noticed once I'd drank so hopefully I don't get sick. The burger looked like something from a cheap burger van, I can't believe they can charge £7.50 for it. It didn't come with the tortilla chips as it said it would on the menu. Only go here if you'd like to waste money and get ill.

Tis a dog-friendly cafe in the old Co-op building opposite the lane that leads to Chopwell woods. Parking was simple across the road though they may be space directly in front when you visit but probably don't try going round the side or back alley if you have a large car. Inside the decor is effortlessly retro cool, not forced, with a strong musical theme that will please any beatnik, mod or rocker, and comfortable with a mix of tables with chairs and sofas with coffee tables. Combined with the great choice of background music it just works really well. There looks to be a good range of food from breakfasts and sandwiches/paninis to 'dinners', cakes, scones, and more. The liquid offerings include alcoholic as well as soft drinks and hot drinks. I found the two ladies sailing the ship lovely and friendly. I had a cheese and red onion panini, latte and, on a whim, a take-home cheese scone for later. The panini was hot and very tasty, the imported Italian coffee velvety smooth, and later at home the cheese scone was delicious - a proper home cooked delight. Beat n Track is a brilliant indie cafe that deserves to thrive in these tough times for pubs/cafes/restaurants. From their facebook it appears they may do events, DJ, maybe even live music.

Called by here a few days ago, which was a pleasant surprise to find. Had a coffee which was rich flavoursome and hot, and good value. Really wanted to have cake too, but unfortunately what was on display really did not look that appetising and or appealingly and not good value. If they upped the quality and range of the cakes this place really could be something special. However, really enjoyed my coffee and ambiance.

I visited this litttle cafe with my son after a walk in chopwell woods. There were no menus so a bit disorganised - and no idea of prices. 2 paninis, 2 cans coke and a few wedges - £20? Having finished a walk around the corner we stopped in to see if they had outdoor space for our dog, not only did they open their doors for him, he was treated like royalty! Biscuit on arrival followed by a whole sausage to himself! Lots of cuddles and fuss from everyone and his head in now about 10 sizes bigger!! The human food was substantial and delicious! Food all “home made” and freshly cooked and service really friendly (even when we asked about local pubs that do food!!) Have regularly visited this cafe where I have the large breakfast which is 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, 2 black pudding, 2 slices of toast, mushrooms and small fried potatoes. The small breakfast is one of each. Warm atmosphere, friendly hosts where dogs are welcome. Great coffee with a smooth rich flavour. Saw a 1 star review and very puzzled by it. Did they visit the same place? 1/2 a slice of toast makes no sense. And most people are happy for their teapot to be topped up with hot water. The tapas that's served in the evening is delicious. Am very partial to the various flavours of cheesecake, highly recommended!

We dropped in after an afternoon walk with our 'fur baby', great surprise that we could take the dog in. We had a lovely coffee and very tasty cake, 'Lily dog' got a biscuit too. We were greatly surprised that they do evening meals of Tapas, which we booked in for and we were allowed to bring Lily too. Returned later in the week for our Tapas, we were not disappointed, the meal was freshly cooked and just perfect, no room for 'afters'. We would recommend you try this place, the deciding fact for us was that we could take our dog in. Though after having the meal, we decided the food has to come first, then the dog!! Good luck to the owners, hope you keep going.

The previous cafe on site has been opened up, so there's double the space than before...plus the walls have been stripped back to the tiles giving a cleaner look to the premises. They currently make sandwiches and a selection of pies or quiche and are hopeful of selling hot food soon. There's a popular barrista coffee machine, but we drink tea which they were happy to refill with hot water when asked. A sandwich, two pies, teas and coke with a fruit scone and delicious cheese cake was about £18.50. Well worth a visit and hopefully more to come.
