The Olive Tree in Shropshire

Came here for Tuesday night dinner with a few friends. Service was great, staff were friendly and accommodating, and even though it was a quiet weeknight there was still a lovely atmosphere with a log fire and pretty decor. It was great to see them serving tapas here again, and we had a few classic tapas as well as some newer, creative dishes we’d not tried before. The cracker bread & sweet pickle served with the pintxos & Camembert was lovely! There were also some lovely specials. Lots of options for vegetarian/ pescatarian. The sangria was great and we finished with the best limoncello I’ve ever tried! We had a dog with us and they were really accommodating, putting us at a table where she could have space and wouldn’t roam to other tables. Lovely evening & lovely people running it, we’ll definitely be back.

My daughter and I went for a pre theatre meal. The food was absolutely lovely, everything was cooked to perfection and some gorgeous flavours. We are both vegetarian and it was so nice to have so much choice. The service was exceptional too, so friendly and helpful. Great value for money, we will be back.

Booked a table on for a midweek evening for 4 of us. Had several tapas dishes and honestly every single one so tasty & delicious. The chicken livers were particularly out of this world. This place is a utter gem not to be missed and a must visit.

Been here twice now since it’s back serving tapas and loved it both times. First time was with a friend who is coeliac and she was delighted with the number of dishes that were gluten free. Second time was a pre-Christmas group of 8 family members. We ordered one of each of the hot tapas on the menu (and off the specials board!) plus some bread and olives. For lunch it was plenty, the variety was superb and the service was good and friendly.

Came here previously when it was tapas. Then it changed its name and menu. Noticed that on our last visit to Shrewsbury that it had changed names again and when I reviewed it on TA-tapas was back on the menu-I was happy to do a return visit. Booked for a Sat night in case it was busy. Arrived to a friendly welcome, explanation of menu/specials given and enough time to decide on drinks and menu. Lovely choice of different tapas dishes (a couple of items not available but we wouldn’t have had those anyway) and we had 4 dishes and a focaccia bread with oil. The chorizo in red wine was SO tender. All dishes arrived nicely presented, tasty, reasonably sized portions and hot. Hubby had 2 glasses of wine which were a good price as was my gin & lemonade. We decided to have desserts too which were lovely-date and honey sponge and the cheesecake. We both enjoy limoncello and noticed it was homemade-these were given complimentary after our meal which was a nice touch. The menu does state that there is a 10% service charge already added so it’s something to be mindful of if/when you tip. Including the tip our bill came to £65.00 which we were happy with. Overall a lovely evening. Would we return? Definitely!

Decent food and service. We spent £189 for 4 of us including the 10% service charge which was £17. Our server then asked us for an additional .50p which we’d missed off the service charge, seems a bit overly officious given we’d paid a £17 as a tip.

We came here for dinner before seeing a show at the Theatre Severn last night and were so pleased that this place is back to tapas! We loved coming here when it was previously the Olive tree and last night was just as good! The drinks were great, we ordered white wine sangria as this is our favourite, and although it was not on the menu, our server was more than accommodating and made us a jug up! The food was great, really good selection of dishes and well priced! Will definitely be back and would recommend!

We have returned to the Olive Grove twice recently, once as a couple, the second time as a large family group,on both occasions the food and service was AMAZING, so lucky to have this wonderful place on our doorstep as our local Will definitely be returning again and again

The Olive Grove (formerly Olive Tree/Bevans) is doing tapas again (friday and saturday evenings and tues-sat lunch times) and they are fantastic and very reasonably priced. So good we came back for brunch - an amazing selection of dishes, as well as the breakfast usuals, all cooked to perfection. All this and a gorgeous Mediterranean back garden, full of olive trees! Becky and Sam evidently ran the Olive Tree for years (which I remember being frequently rated the top restaurant in Shrewsbury) and after restructuring the business (which was sometimes too busy for a family run business to perhaps manage) they are back on top form. You can even buy local produce too - delicious meats, cheese and veg. The house white and new zealand sauvignon are top notch too, and very cheap for quality that good.

the olive tree did great tapas, Bevan's as it it now is, with the same lovely owners but a new menu - traditional british food all locally sourced and beautifully cooked - is just as fab. great wine and beer, and now they sell fresh veg outside too!

It’s been rebranded and is now Bevans. No tapas. Menu now features pies. We went for lunch. It was ok, menu much reduced. The appeal was the garden and tapas so we won’t go back.

Looks pretty, tastes poor.. Burnt Bruschetta, some bits swimming in vinegar/oil, meats, dry and tasteless. Really didn’t like this place. ‘Give us your money’ type place. Spend your £70 somewhere else in Shrewsbury..! Keep looking.. 👀

The Olive Tree was a great restaurant, lovely, tasty & authentic Tapas & Pizza, staff were all fantastic & offered a great service. We sat in the courtyard garden as it was a warm evening & it's just lovely outside & they have heaters if it's a bit chilly! Come as part of a hen party for afternoon drinks, told off for inappropriate behaviour which wasn’t the case, accused of “Flashing” when actually as part of a game was demonstrating a fly. Not sure how this is flashing. Found the staff extremely rude and unprofessional. People on other tables were not in any way annoyed by our hen party. Also was not provided with enough seating. When we got a chair from another table was told off for doing so. It was evident that staff were reluctant to serve us as one person waited over 30 minutes for a drink to arrive with no apologies. Wouldn’t return or recommend as this was suppose to be a celebration which completely ruined the drinks and experience. If they don’t want people having afternoon drinks and just want a fine dining restaurant don’t accept a hen party. Was made to feel extremely out of place and looked down upon.

Fantastic food! We had tuna, calamari, patatas bravas, red mullet, and the beetroot falafel which was gorgeous. Puddings were equally lovely with really fresh churros and a beautiful lemon curd mousse special. Friendly staff and lovely staff. Highly recommend a visit!

FANTASTIC FOOD! I’ve eaten here on many occasions and left a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review several years ago. I thought it was about time to leave another. The courtyard area at the rear of the restaurant is beautiful and been updated since my last visit. Service was great and all the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely experience at the olive tree. All staff were welcoming, friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the menu was set out well explaining what was involved in each dish, food came out hot, delicious and in a timely manner. The seating outside was amazing, if it’s cold you have blankets and a heater. Will definitely be returning

Food is absolutely spot on! Service is fantastic, you feel well attended to and staff are really helpful - my favourite is the Camembert sharing board! The atmopshere is so nice and you really could be in the Mediterranean

First timers here, the food, the service and setting was pure bliss. My wife and I agreed it the best in our town of Shrewsbury without a shadow of doubt. Yes, the out door seating area is even better when the sun is shining. We were served by three delightful young ladies who carried out there roles impeccably. We'll definitely be paying other visits during the summer. Pizza went down well accompanied by Kelvin lager. Well done all.

Every time I go to the Olive tree I have a great time. We had a table of 8 out on the terrace, and all the food (which we had a lot of) and the drinks were fantastic. The garden is perfect for the summer and all of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I will continue to have all my celebrations here!
