The Olive Tree - Midgham in West Berkshire

Exceptionally clean with a brilliant waiter who also appeared to run the whole hotel as manager/waiter/barman/porter and general factotum. He was also very funny as well as efficient. The food is good quality, well prepared and presented pub food. Reasonably priced too. No complaints whatsoever. You won't be disappointed.

Been here for 3 nights and all I can say is 'wow' Incredible friendly staff, top notch service and an amazing dinner with hot, tasty food. Room was spacious, with all of the accessories you need, good WiFi(really did not expect that). The room was cleaned every day and came back from work in a clean, tidy atmosphere(I told the reception if they can clean my room), really lovely. Keep up the good work guys! You have ten stars from me👍

Went on a weekday evening for my mother's birthday and use group on voucher. We had never been here before. We weren't sure we were at the right place asvoucher stated it was a Great western hotel restaurant but sign stated it was a Mecure. The staff were happy to accept the voucher. The range on the menu was limited but very good. Food served tasted very good. The girl serving us was particurly friendly and helpful. Would certainly coming here again.

I eat at this hotel several times and I was never disappointed, the service was excellent and the food really tasty with great portions and very sensible prices for the area.

We were staying here a couple of nights and decided to give the restaurant a try. It was very good - my husband ate a delicious pie, I ate the chicken gyros- very tasty. Prices affordable- good service.

whether you eat at the bar or in the restaurant the menu and prices are exactly the same. A wide variety of choice ranging from burgers to thai curries.

Food was so good that we didn’t have to drive anywhere else. Lovely chips. If it was closer would be eating there once a week

We cannot comment on the bedrooms as we did not stay in the hotel. We did, however, have a excellent meal. Pate and Calamari were our starters and Lamb Shank and Guinness Stew were our main courses, all were extremely tasty and well presented. Service was excellent too.

Very friend staff and a nice resteraunt with good selection of food at a reasonable price. Have eaten here regularly over the last 6 months.

Great little hotel resteraunt which is convenient for an evening bite. The rump steak and peppercorn sauce is very nice.

Ate here whilst staying at the hotel....Good range of choices on the menu ......The anti pasta starter was excellent ..and huge....We shared one between two and weren't disappointed......All courses were very big....We never managed a pudding!!!!! Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend

I covered this restaurant in my review of the West Grange Hotel, in which it is located. A well balanced menu, food well cooked and presented, plenty of flavour and served in an efficient, friendly and helpful manner. Nothing was too much trouble. Well done and thank you all.

Tried a Sunday Lunch here, and as we had no booking we had to wait a while to see if there was enough food left over after those who were already there. The service was friendly, but the Sunday Roast was unimpressive, and the Yorkshire Pudding was left untouched. Will give it a miss next time.

My wife and I live quite close and went for the Sunday Carvery. Excellent service, lovely carvery, excellent choice of vegetables; and it wasn't too busy. Must visit again. Recommended.

Had my 40th birthday ( 2009) at the olive tree/ Best western, had several evening meal plus the family had Christmas dinner at the restaurant last year and I have only praise for the staff, food and presentation, ignore the negative, go and try it for yourself.

We ate in the restaurant although for some reason only the bar menu was available that evening. Restaurant was very quiet which didn;t help the atmosphere but it certainly does't have much character. Not helped by dropped food frfom an earlier meal neing left under a neighbouring table,

We went to The Olive Tree a couple of weeks ago for a family birthday, and it was the first time we had been. We went for a Sunday dinner and were pleasantly suprised that all children 12 and under eat free, considering we had 4 children with us this was a bit bonus!The kids all got a 3 course meal each, and the adults paid £12.25 for their 3 course meal. We thought the food would be average given the price, but we were wrong, the starter of Ham Hock Terrine was absolutely delicious, and the Home Made Chocolate Brownie was divine. The main course was good too, although the choice of veg wouldn't be to my taste.Overall this was a great dining experience and we would not hesitate to go back again. I would, and have, recommend a visit to anyone!!
