The fillet steak was amazing. Really tasty local supplied meat, I just can’t say enough good things about it. It was soooo tasty. My partner had the sirloin and it was equally as good. Cooked to perfection as I asked for medium and partner asked for medium rare. Would definitely recommend.

The food was good the service was good but the environment fell short. There were flys to the extent I asked if we could move tables. The disabled toilet had very little water running from the tap. The toilet also had a poor flush. Outside this toilet there was a couch with all the covering falling off. There was a glass with beer on the window sill and it also had flys in it. We ate starters and main course and went elsewhere for dessert and coffee. Very disappointed as this has not been my previous experience at the Thatch. My review is no reflection on the staff . I was actually embarrassed as I had brought 3 other ladies out for lunch.

Wouldn’t advise going here at all …. Service beyond slow and when the food did arrive was cold and unpleasant… chilli chicken was swimming in a horrid sticky sauce and salmon was dry and something your granny would’ve cooked in the 1970’s. Even paying was an undertaking- standing at bar for 15 mins waiting to pay … if you’re starving just keep driving.

We’ve been trying to eat in the old thatch on for a while and managed to get a table. We arrived at 7:30pm and ordered within 10 minutes. One of our glasses of wine arrived dirty… with lipstick marks on the rim and remains of someone’s dinner on the base of the glass. We only ordered mains… but they didn’t arrive until 50 minutes after we ordered. My husband actually had just got up to check and met the servers on their way. During our wait I tried twice to get a server’s attention to order more drinks but was ignored. In terms of the meal. I ordered the honey chilli chicken which was described as coming with stir fried vegetables in their house sauce. The stir fried veg considered of a handful of sliced peppers, which definitely did not represent stir fried veg. My husband got the curry which was fine but had as many chunky onions as pieces of chicken. We also ordered an extra side of chips which was a very small bowl and definitely was not worth the £4 charge for an extra side. It was more likened to a half and half portion. After paying we noticed we had been charged £7.50 for each of the two glasses of wine rather than the £7 advertised price. Before we finished live music started in the restaurant… but unfortunately the staff didn’t turn off the background music in the speakers which lead to a rather uncomfortable clash of music and we quickly finished and left. Unfortunately the poor experience means we will not be making a return visit.

Lovely place, I've been a few times. Service is as prompt as it can be depending on how busy they are. Food is absolutely amazing, good portion size, full of flavour & always clean plates when we dine there. No issue with staff as they are polite & professional. I can't imagine how hard it must be serving so many customers in a busy environment & still for it not to be good enough for some people. This is a lovely restaurant with a perfect cosy atmosphere, more importantly impeccable food & brilliant staff. Hats off to them all including the chefs. Thanks again

Delightful thatched whitewashed cottage with very cosy interior. We had a really warm welcome and outstanding service. Our lunches all featured quality ingredients beautifully presented which we did enjoy. Most certainly this restaurant is excellent in every way and we will go back next time we are in Northern Ireland. Seamus Heaney is strongly featured and his museum is nearby. I strongly recommend this great restaurant.

I have stopped in here 3 times now for dinner on a Sunday evening with no luck, the first time I went in at 7pm and I was informed the kitchen had just closed so I left again, the second time I went was at 6:40pm and again the kitchen had just closed so I went around to the public bar for a drink where I waited 20 minutes to be given a drink then on the third time I went it was 6:25pm and to my surprise yet again the kitchen had just closed, the main reason I keep trying is because I was told the food is good and on thier website it states the restaurant is open to 8 on a Sunday, I will not be stopping for food again to be disappointed for the fourth time

They would not honor a meal voucher given to me for my birthday because it was just over three months past the expiry date. Their vouchers are valid for only six months, printed in very small writing. As an O.A.P. I struggled to read this. I found their attitude appalling when I queried this strict rule. They had no hesitation in keeping the money paid for the voucher. And restaurants are complaining how difficult it is to survive in the present climate. Take the money and supply nothing. Not bad.

The food we got for our mains was nice enough but the service was lacking…a lot. We had ordered drinks and had to ask again about them after waiting another 10 minutes, similar was waiting to be cleared. The dessert was also not what we asked for and left we left it untouched, it took a staff member nearly 20 mins to approach us as they seemed to be looking every other direction, although when they did I will admit they were friendly but as a service not great. Overall I’m disappointed as the last family meal we had here was quite good.

Great Christmas dinner, turkey and especially ham were beautiful and of very good quality. The stewed beef (daube) was class also. We had salted chilli chicken and garlic mushrooms to start which were lovely. The thatch is very homely inside and has a nice atmosphere. The reason I’d give it 4 and not a 5 is the cocktails were just OK (espresso martini and bramble) and the service wasn’t great at all. Don’t get me wrong - lots of young people walking around and asking you if you need anything, but I think it might be better if they assigned your waiter/waitress to your table for the duration of the meal. We ordered a glass of wine each after our dinner and it didn’t come for almost 30 mins. We were then approached and asked if we wanted anything else, so we ordered an Irish coffee and calypso coffee. Next think all 4 drinks arrived at the same time, wine and coffee. It seems like the staff have no idea of what’s going on at various tables, asking if you want a drink after you’ve just ordered one, or asking if you want to order dinner when it has been ordered etc. I don’t think they’re the friendliest staff either but they are quite young. Food was great but service and drinks left wanting.

The Inn looks quaint and very inviting and is near Seamus Heaney's grave and Mossbawn. However, service is very slow and haphazard. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and there was a set lunch, apparently. We opted for the a la carte menu and it was difficult to get consistent service. The food was okay. However, at the end of the meal, we ordered some tea/coffee and this led to totally unacceptable delays. In the end, we took takeaways, but would have been better advised to go to a motorway cafe.

Have visited twice in the past, once for lunch in November and once for dinner about 2 weeks ago & both times the restaurant was very busy with one bar staff & one waitress working. Food was well below average, ordered duck rolls which were burnt on one side & very under cooked on the other & served with a lemon wedge? Ordered a steak sandwich for main course with peppered sauce which was swimming in grease and also served with a lemon wedge. Had sweet potato fries for my side order and they tasted like they had been cooked in dirty oil, they were more edible than my main course however which I couldn't stomach. There was also a vegetable curry ordered but a chicken curry was served to the table. The waitress relayed the order back to us when she took it & it was correct so I can only assume it was a mix up in the kitchen. We didn't want to bring this up with the waitress as she was under pressure with the table beside us also sending food back to the kitchen & people waiting at the door. This being said she made the effort to come & check the table, offer drinks & have a bit of chat.I never got her name but this waitress is a credit to the place & the reason its a 3* review instead of a 1*. I think management need to employ more waiting staff & have a look at the kitchen staff! I doubt I'll return

Went for a family evening meal with a 2 year old and it is a perfect place to eat in comfort. Our young waitress could not have done more to accommodate the needs of the child, bringing high chair, water and served her meal first. We all chose the chicken stir fry, which we enjoyed, followed by waffles, chocolate sauce and ice cream - delicious. The ambience of the place was so cosy and inviting, we were sorry we were not staying longer and having a few drinks. However, we will return to do this at a later date.

Have called in several times, and will do again. The food is always excellent, with good service and large portions. I would recommend this pub to anyone. Very good value for money.

My husband and I called in one week day afternoon and had a late lunch. I chose the Thatch open chicken salad and my husband went for the Thatch 50/50 sandwich with chips and pepper sauce. My salad was huge and had a great choice of items to eat! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lunch as well. I have to say the girl who served us had great customer service skills and a lovely personality to boot! I'm sorry I didn't get her name. I have heard that customers must book a table, if they want to dine there at the weekend; I can see why.

Called in for lunch and was met with friendly staff and a lovely roaring turf fire. A good choice on the menu and drinks quickly served. We all opted for toasties which came packed with filling and lovely fresh salad and coleslaw. Couldn't be faulted and will definitely be back

Ate here many time in the past and I could not fault it. Recently had Sunday lunch in it last week, 3 course £13.95 which is amazing. Their desserts are delicious. Great for a night out aswell. The Thatch is definitely worth the visit.

Have been twice recently and very much enjoyed it on both occasions. Good for a proper dinner and also for a light bite with soup, sandwiches and wraps available as well as open sandwiches, but you'll need an appetite for this one! Bit of a wait for food on our first visit but couldn't fault the food for flavour and freshness on arrival. Nice friendly staff that were attentive in the nice decor of the thatch pub. Cosy seating areas with warm atmosphere and an open turf fire by the bar adding to the charm of the place.

I was in the old thatch inn on Sunday .The meal was swimming in juices as were the side orders. Wouldn't put my foot in the place again. We got no money off our meal either

Went for a meal recently for a friends 21st. Lovely homely food which was a great standard. Compliments to the chef and well done to the servers clare & ciaran who were efficient and friendly. Recommend the chicken fillet burger or the cod.

Very pretty place, both outside and in. Lots of little nooks and crannies inside which make it an interesting building. The menu is pretty standard stuff, but the food is good (and plenty of it). Good service too.

Decided to try here for a change on Sunday evening, glad we did!! Staff were very helpful and friendly and I had mentioned I needed a child seat which was already at our table when we arrived. Drinks ordered and arrived soon after I ordered prawns for starters my wife had chicken wings both delicious, the child’s meal came out with starters and was also delicious (chicken goujons with skinny fries) I had the sirloin steak with chunky chips medium rare . Cooked to perfection! Well seasoned . My wife had the smashed burger and she said it was amazing, portions were so good we hadn’t room for dessert but we definitely will be back to try again. Food 10/10 service 10/10 … Also must mention the price of food and drinks are very reasonable. Very enjoyable Sunday
