The Old Stables Coffee Shop Castle Combe in Wiltshire

Very nice, the café is a little away from the main street and therefore from the crowds of tourists. Even though it overlooked garages, the calm was pleasant. The mocha was delicious and the pastry was enjoyable.

I came down to castle Combe for a nice walk with my dog and at the end stopped off in this lovely coffee shop. The staff were so sweet and very good with my dog. Spoiling him and giving him his first ever pupcup! It was hard to resist all the lovely cakes on offer, a full range and something to suit everyone, they were even able to accommodate for my gluten intolerance. I indulged and ended up having one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had. It was a lovely treat to end a very picturesque and sweet day, thank you to the lovely ladies who run this coffee shop. We will come back soon!

It's expensive , the cakes are not good quality, the furniture wasn't nice either but very spartan , but it is a quiet place if you need something different than a pub

Philippa and Yasmin could not have been more helpful or understanding when I accidentally spilt my coffee and made a real mess. Not only did they ensure it was quickly cleaned up, they refused to let me pay for the coffee refill they gave me. Super friendly. Enjoyed the coffee and cake. Could not recommend highly enough. A lovely little hidden away cafe in the beautiful village. Fantastic cakes and sweet treats with good coffee, we ended up buying some cakes to take away too as they were so delicious. The staff were lovely and the cafe had a really nice relaxed atmosphere

Speedy service, delicious hot coffee and very tasty almond and pistachio cake. We only ordered one slice of cake but we were given 3 forks which was very thoughtful.

Really strange attitude of the staff on Sunday, the 4th Aug. Upon arrival at 3:35pm, we’re told that place is closed. The timings online (Google) state that premises are open until 4:00pm. Heard a comment as we left “not sure what was that about” alluding to my husband checking his phone for time. Well it was about being misinformed by the timings that you’ve put online, so may be work on providing accurate information to your potential customers!

I wen there because Tripadvisor said they did breakfast. Don't be fooled - they do not. It is very much cakes, croissants and drinks. That said, the coffee was hot and delicious. The staff were friendly and the cafe was lovely....... just slightly disappointed that I didn't get my breakfast!!

We were looking for somewhere to have a nice coffee and spotted the sign for this cafe, tucked at the back of the main street in glorious Castle Coombe. There was outside & indoor seating available and we chose to sit inside to warm ourselves up a bit from the chilly wind ! We had a coffee each and shared a tasty & moist slice of apricot and pistachio cake...delicious. The coffee itself was super hot. Service was quick and the ladies were really friendly & helpful. What a find. We highly recommend a visit here and will definitely return if in the area again. Thank you !

Found by accident, but will remember and revisit whenever we are in the area. Great service with friendly and helpful people serving excellent food and drinks in a quirky, comfortable and interesting environment. Thank you for such a lovely break in our day.

We were looking for tea and cake and spotted a sign to this little place. We had tea and shared two slices of cake. The selection was really lovely, and we settled on a slice of bakewell tart, and a cake with apricot...can't remember the name. Both were great...the slices were really generous too. If I'm being honest, I thought it was a bit expensive (£16.75 for 3 cups of tea and 2 slices of cake), but we would visit again, if in the area.

2 sisters run the shop and run it very well. Busy at times.

Hidden round the back you will find the old stables coffee shop.Smallest cups I’ve ever had but I must say that it is a very good coffee. I’m sure they put the late in a small espresso cup. Very expensive for what you get.

Coffee/breakfast reminiscent of old days at a ranch or stable. Sweets and food with enough variety and very neat and tasty. It is worth trying the traditional scones served with jam and whipped butter. Ideally, I would like the shop to have a better view or front tables.

Adorable little cafe in the middle of adorable little Castle Combe. They make a great flat white a giant pain au chocolait, and honestly, what more do you need from a cafe? Prices are reasonable and service was excellent.

Myself and a group of friends dog walk and then visit a cafe in the area, this day we picked Castle Combe. Perfect location, dog walk was lovely, cafe is dog friendly, we loved the blankets. We all really enjoyed the coffee but the cake was extremely dry and all 3 slices of cake were very small. Would visit again, but after a long walk a bigger portion of cake would be great.

Coffee paired with their brownies were great. We had the raspberry brownie. Their brownies are on the fudgey, dense side. The coffee cake didn't taste all that good. Staff was friendly

Cosy atmosphere here with a good selection of cakes and drinks. Staff provided good service - would recommend if anyone was taking a trip into Castle Combe.

The place was really nice, but I think maybe they're not used to interacting with different races? The service just felt a bit weird, nothing rude or anything, just not friendly and welcoming if you care about that. Would still go again.Their cake was house made cake was phenomenal and their coffee was so good and so cheap too esp for England. Such a quant little spot that makes you stop and go slow.

We visited the village on an afternoon out for my friends birthday and stumbled upon this little homely cafe as we wandered down the Main Street. It’s slightly tucked away but was worth a stop for elevenses initially for coffee and cake. Good selection of pastries and cakes and all home made. We were so impressed we popped back later about 2.30 for some lunch. The staff are super friendly and helpful even giving us directions to a small park across the way where my friends grand daughter could play. Maybe because it was 2.30 the lunch menu was a bit limited which was a shame but still enjoyable. It’s good to support local small businesses and I would definitely return if in the area

Absolutely loved the experience, the beauty of Castle Combe, the simplicity and authenticity of the sweets served in this cafe, which used to be stables. And service with a smile.

Tucked away in a quiet alley this is a must visit cafe. Staff are so friendly and you have a great selection of food and drink to choose from. Only a tiny little sign on the main road directing you to the cafe.

It's just practically perfect in every way. When everything seems to be closing in Castle Coombe, around 14.30. We found this absolute jem , a little hidden away, but well worth the hunt. Freshly made sandwiches and coffee to die for .friendly efficient service. Highly recommended

Nice little cafe without road signage slightly off the Main Street, but everyone seems to know about it, follow the foot traffic. We enjoyed a pleasant coffee with a delicious scone with jam and cream. Cakes looked nice as well. I thought it was a little overpriced but there was plenty of staff turning out the orders and the quaint tearoom setting made the experience quite enjoyable. Might be challenging to secure a table at times I suspect.

A wonderful oasis that Philly and Yaz have created, in an area where cafes are few and far between. They saved my walking life on many occasion. extremely clean, clean toilet facilities, all round a delightful place to enjoy a little break in the beautiful English countryside. Great service after being snubbed at the white hart. Food was tasty, filling great, baguette was fresh but not the best. Still amazing value for money. Would recommend and return. They do take out so easy for picnics.

We stopped at Castle Coombe and found a this lovely cafe to stop for coffee and cake. They offered a great selection of cakes and the coffee was very good too. I had parked at the top of the hill, not realising how far it was to the village. I knew my elderly mum would struggle to get back up that hill and it had started raining. The waitress kindly said that I could bring my car down and pick mum up, parking just outside. This was very welcome and we appreciated the kindness.

Tucked off the main road, lovely little coffee shop, friendly staff, tasty carrot cake and coffee. You must visit when in Castle Coombe.

Amazing coffee shop. Very nice and cozy ambience. We had carrot cake, sausage rolls and cappuccino and flat white coffee. Everything was amazing and the hot coffee was amazing in cold weather. They even warmed up the carrot cake on request.

Dropped in on a gloomy December afternoon to find a fire lit in the burner, delicious cakes (home made as far as I could tell) and a large pot of tea (good value). The atmosphere was friendly.Happy to recommend this to anyone visiting Castle Combe. It really brightened up the dusk of a midwinter afternoon.

Popped in on a cold day to find a fire lit and welcoming staff at this cosy coffee shop. My partner and I were served immediately and were quickly brought over two delicious hot chocolates. The place was quite full and there was a great atmosphere, it felt authentic and was not too touristy. I’d happily recommend this to anyone, it was a real highlight of our very enjoyable day out in Castle Combe.

It is special magic place to get refreshments and food. Especially their pasties. We bought 10 from them for the family and were blown away how good they were. So a great pleasure to go there and we always stop by. See you again soon. Thank you.

We stopped here for a coffee and it was pleasant to sit outside and relax. Service was friendly, there was a good selection of cakes and drink options and being outdoors, it was dog friendly. Covid safety was paramount so if that's your worry, this place ticks that box. I'm not sure if I'd like to visit in the cold or wet though!

The Old Stables is open earlier than the other restaurants, so if you are in the village early and would like a cup of coffee or a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows this is ideal. They have cakes and sausage rolls as well.They are Covid friendly and even had a treat for the dogs.

Amazing cake, not too sweet and very addictive. They also have good drinks and the usual range of coffees. Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

Called here for coffee and cake while visiting the beautiful village of Castle Combe. The service was excellent, the staff really friendly and helpful. Service was contactless with sanitiser available. We had coffee, tea and hot chocolate. We had cream scones and lemon cake which were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this lovely little coffee shop.

Quick coffee stop on a rainy Sunday afternoon. There was one other table with guests and us . Placed our order and the waitress placed drinks on a table for us to collect. Drinks Delish. Very quick service. But no table wipe down. We’re in covid times and sanitizer was at the ready for our hands but our table was covered with other people’s crumbs and drink spills. Even when I asked for it to be cleaned it was slap dash missing many parts. Under the flower box was wet compost clearly not been wiped in a while. I would have expected it wiped as soon as guests left ready for next to be seated. Another couple came & sat to eat scones, again no wipe down offered. Cup Bin full to the brim - as we left we placed our disposable cups in it, therefore the waitress does not need to clear table or wipe it down. If there were bus loads waiting I could see it would be difficult to keep up the cleanliness but 4 tables on a wet day ……. ……

The hot chocolate was lovely cake fantastic great place to go and get a little snack. Starf are very nice and polite.

Out for a bike ride and found this lovely little place tucked away in castle Combe village. Didn't get to go in due to current restrictions but the young lasses serving were lovely, the cake was delicious and coffee was warm and hit the spot.

Currently only operating a takeaway service but really well set up. Coffee (cappuccino) was absolutely delicious. The cakes were incredible - we tried lemon cake and brownie. Lovely ladies who run it.

Café negro pobre americano, débil, como si el trago fuera compartido con otra taza. Donde estaba sentado en el banco olía a desagües. Se le preguntó si había WiFi disponible y nunca recibió una respuesta. Se sirvió el café para no volver jamás. Recomiendo el salón de té cercano.

I live locally and have been visiting every morning before work, never have I had a bad coffee, cake or even a bad crumb. The girls are always very friendly and polite. I would recommend to anyone driving through Castle Combe.

Fuimos en coche a Castle Combes desde Londres y cuando llegamos nos apetecía un pequeño bocado y un café. ¡Es comprensible que no pudimos sentarnos debido a Covid! Tuvimos la suerte de conseguir uno de los asientos limitados afuera. Mi marido tenía el huevo escocés casero y tenía muchas expectativas, pero estaba muy decepcionado. Probó un bollo que fue igualmente decepcionante. Tuve un quiche de queso de cabra y pesto que en realidad estaba bien, pero la masa era demasiado espesa y dura. No volveríamos a ir incluso si no hubiera otras opciones. ¡Preferimos comer en casa / albergue, etc. o conducir a otra ciudad!

Llegó a Castle Combes después de un viaje en coche desde Londres a la llegada a las 10. Las opciones de comida y bebida a las 30 am eran limitadas.¿Le apetecía que se resolviera un problema de pensamiento de café y bollo?Incorrecto ? tenía un (creo) huevo escocés casero seguido de café americano negro (soy un bebedor fuerte de café) y un bollo con crema, etc.E incluso aunque tenía hambre, todo fue muy decepcionante.Además, las dos mujeres jóvenes del personal son amables y serviciales.

Had a wander around Castle Coombe and stumbled upon this lovely little coffee shop near the bridge at the bottom. We received a very warm welcome and the cosy fire was most appealing. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the finishing touches and attention to detail. Toilet available for customers. We had a delicious homemade cake and coffee. Cold drinks also on offer. Very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Nos detuvimos para tomar un café y, aunque todos los paninis se habían agotado, voluntariamente nos compensaron un poco más. Had breakfast yesterday at this cosy and charming cafe. Options are fairly limited (it’s only small) but I had the most deliciousl bacon roll and the best cappuccino I’ve had in a while. My daughter had a babycino and again the best as it was mostly foam and chocolate. We were made to feel really welcomed by the warm and friendly staff. Baby change available. Postcards and a few momentous on sale too. Takeaway available

I came in to this little cafe and was greeted by a very cute dog! I got a tea and blueberry muffin. The service is fantastic, dogs included, and the food + tea is incredible. Everything is homemade so I knew it was going to be good. I definitely recommend.

We were having a stroll around the village, not a very nice day and a cup of coffee sounded just the ticket, made to feel very welcome by the staff and went on our way, feeling refreshed!

Wir haben das tolle Café besucht um dort zu frühstücken. Wir wurden von zwei sehr netten, freundlichen jungen Damen begrüßt und bedient. Unsere Scone mit clotted cream und Erdbeermarmelade waren köstlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und empfehlen das Café sehr gerne weiter :)

This tiny little off the main road tea room in Castle Combe was quite a pleasant little surprise. Tea and scones and other lovely treats were served by three very pleasant and accommodating young ladies. A great little spot for a snack and a place to rest your legs just 75 yards from the center of town.

Came her a few days ago for a quick bite to eat with my partner and 3 of our kids. It is tucked away off the main street so we may have missed it had I not looked up the address prior to our jouney. This was our lunch stop but due to traffic we did not get there until 2.30pm and unfortunately there was only 1 sandwich left on offer – so our youngest had the sandwich with some crisps and a carton of juice, whilst one of our others had a couscous pot and three of us had the cream tea. The scones were very cute – being heart shaped and came with a sharing pot of jam and one of clotted cream plus a pot of tea. We started off sitting outside (as wanted to make the most of the sun) but we were literally plagued with wasps, so the kids took their food inside and we braved the onslaught! The inside of the café is really cosy and decorated in an eclectic way and there were two cute dogs inside which my youngest adored (not sure if they are a permanent feature!). The staff were all very friendly and polite.

Popped in for a coffee. In the middle of a car park so not the nicest location in the village, and slightly shabby inside too. Staff very very friendly though and coffee really nice.

Cute little touches in decor, provisions for children, polite and friendly staff, and little ‘help yourself’ touches in the toilet. Only popped in for drinks but I’d love to visit again!

The cake was delicious and service excellent. We were even given dog biscuits for our dog which was very much appreciated!

We were very glad to find the old stables, we had a cream tea, served with a lovely heart shaped scone, delicious cream and jam, a nice cup of tea, delicious mocha and equally delicious Victoria sponge.

There didn't appear to be too many options to grab a coffee so we called into the old stables when we spotted it. Good, decent hot coffee and the scone we ordered was good quality too. Dogs are welcome and our cockapoo also enjoyed the visit!

Popped into the old stables coffee shop while walking through Castle Combe. Greeted by some friendly girls who served us up a nice coffee and tea. The place wasn’t too busy and as the sun was shining we sat outside on the picnic benches. Instead there is a toilet which is very convenient. Would definitely recommend stopping again if visiting Castle Combe.

Fabulous local ice cream served! We tried pretty much every flavour between the 9 of us and all agreed it was superb (Marshfield Farm apparently). But it was the way they saw we had several little ones with us, showed us the way to the park just round the corner and brought us a rug and cushions to use while we had the ice cream. Oh and let us continue using them after they closed! Great service guys.

Unexpected treat, found almost by accident as is situated off to the side of the main street. Friendly service. Good selection of drinks and cakes. If travelling out of the main season it would be advisable to check opening times.

Came for a stroll through the village during the unseasonably nice weather - still not that warm though so chose a warming coffee as opposed to the usual beer in one of the pubs. Lovely feel to the inside of building, toilet (with baby changing) is a bit limited as it's only the one room. Very friendly girls working the counter - clean tables, average prices. On the whole a nice place for coffee & cake!

Located just off of Castle Combe’s picturesque High Street, this is located, as it’s name suggests in an old stable. It’s not really that obvious it’s there, so the A-board sign on the pavement was a useful pointer, otherwise I’m sure many people would walk on by.

What a fab place, big wood burner. Super cakes and super coffee, oh and super hot chocolate too. Been here twice on way back from the wye valley and it is worth the detour of the motorway. Warm and friendly.
