Wonderful service as usual. The staff are unbeatable in terms of friendliness and efficiency. The food was fabulous and the drinks were cold. What more could you ask for! Special shout out to Liv who served us and looked after us very well. Can’t wait to be back!

Great pub, class food and spectacular Guinness

Dropped in with Mr. Ted to meet up with our pal Jimmy for a wee lunchtime shout. Fabulous southside bolt-hole, dripping with rustic charm, and the lassie behind the bar who served us, Liv, could not have been friendlier and more accommodating, even if Jimmy had pulled a gun on her (he didn't btw)!! Super nice to Mr. Ted as well, which can be challenging due to his at times questionable bowel venting and propensity to eat the furniture - even gave him a stool so he could see over the bar. Great atmosphere, Livs banter was funnier than nearly all the Carry On films, and the beer taps gleamed like the federal reserve gold deposit (turns out she'd just cleaned them, so well done her 👍). Will be back for sure😊😊🥰

This pub was recently voted the second most affordable cosy pub in the UK as per the Evening Times article from the 27th October. This was a well deserved award. The staff are fantastic and very attentive to customer needs. However, they (Stonegate Group) recently increased the cost of the Beers by 25p, which is a significant price hike by any standards.More galling by the fact that other pubs in the same chain in Glasgow didn't increase their prices by as much. Speaking to some students in the bar recently they informed me that they can get pints cheaper in the city centre and as such they would stop coming in to their local pub. A lot of pensioners from the area, on a limited budget, are being affected by this bizarre increase and are, in affect, being priced out of visiting what has become a community hub to them. As a result of this unreasonable price increase myself and my friends have simply started visiting less often and started frequenting other less expensive bars in the area. Other regulars to the pub feel very unhappy and the general consensus is that they are being ripped off on the back of the aforementioned award. Stonegate's area manager(s) seem to be milking the goodwill of the locals who frequent the pub especially during a cost of living crisis. Profiteering at it's worst.

We're always greeted by a warm, friendly atmosphere and the lovely staff, who will go above and beyond. Great menu and stocked bar, the Smiddy is a well loved Southside pub. Highly recommend for a few drinks or a nice relaxed meal.

First time in the old Smiddy. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Decent pub fare menu. I thought the food on offer was pretty good along with being decent value. Was just starting to get busy as we left so it’s obviously popular with regulars. I’ll definitely go back again

Great local pub. Good for food, good for a drink, good for the dog. Hard working staff. Nice little beer garden out the back when the sun shines. Plenty of screens for sports.

I love the ambience here it's always very inviting and comforting. Serving great traditional pub classics & new extras always on the menu, so something for everyone. Food arrived hot and only waited around 10 minutes for it, too.The service was second to none. I definitely recommend this place.

Came here with my partner and the place was amazing, friendly bar staff, great service and the food was cooked perfectly by Chef Jake. Would highly recommend to anyone and would come again!

Excellent traditional pub. Interior is welcoming and comfortable. Service was great. Good selection of drinks. Did not eat there but one can. Recommended. Locals are also very welcoming

Went here recently with my family and everything was amazing! The service was fast and polite, the atmosphere was perfect and had a range if TVs for sport if that's your thing. Even had a great outside area to sit in if the weather permits. Chef Jake cooked our food and it was amazing! Would highly recommend 👌

Sean McGee is the best barman the world has ever seen.

Always have a great time at the Old Smiddy. Great pints, good food and a fantastic atmosphere. Michael does a great job of running the place and the staff, in particular Sean behind the bar, are always friendly, attentive and go out their way to make sure you have a good experience.

Been going to the smiddy for over 10 years and it is the best local pub in the South side of Glasgow. Great pints, good food, always friendly faces and the staff are exceptional, special mention to Sean McGee keeping the pints and the chat flowing. Brilliant place to go for sports or even midweek during the day for a quieter pint or lunch.

Came for dinner last night with my brother and sister and it was lovely! They’re both very picky eaters but managed to find something they both ate happily. They both had a burger and chips and the bar staff were really helpful and patient when ordering to sure my extra picky brother got exactly what he wanted! Our server Jason was very attentive, had a laugh with us despite being very busy and checked in regularly to make sure we were happy. The food came quickly and plates were cleared as soon as we were finished. Will definitely be back!

We were able to reserve an area of The Old Smiddy for drinks after my granddaughter’s christening, and before we went to a local restaurant for food. Staff were lovely, friendly and attentive, and the pub is beautiful, with a great atmosphere. This was my first time in The Old Smiddy and I look forward to going back. Thank you 😊

This is an outstanding pub. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is really good as well and great prices. Large selection of alcohol around the average expected price nowadays. Live sports here regularly. I'm sure they do a quiz as well. The atmosphere is usually really good and the punters are friendly. Cracking beer garden out back and table service is available.

Had a great meal the other week here. Served by Sean, nearly had a better beard than me. managed to sort us a table after our meal to watch the euros too, despite how busy it was. Lovely staff, great food, really good value!

I had an absolutely cracking time! The food was great and so was the drink our waitress was great her name was niamh. It was a great place for a nice little celebration for the family.

Yet another not so glorious failure on the European stage, but at least the night was saved by the excellent service provide by Niamh, and she pours a damn good pint of Guinness too, wonder if only she could also play Right Back!

The Old Smiddy is always a great experience. Having lived in the southside for 20 years there is no better pub for a very good pint of Guinness, decent food at a very decent price and excellent sightlines for telly screens if the football is on! The bar staff were very friendly, Niamh behind the bar pulls a tremendous pint of Guinness which is worth the wait, and the food was excellent too.

Had a few fun filled nights at the smiddy over the last few weeks. Would highly recommend the amazing pints of Guinness 10 outa 10. The staff are very attentive and even recommend a whisky for me to try, thank you very much Caylin and Michael 🎉

Came in for the game short notice and not from the area. First thought before entry we were not going to be welcome. Completely opposite. Ended up a fantastic night thanks guys.

Honestly don't know how this place is getting the reviews it's getting, never tasted or seen food being served that's so disgusting. It's a cheap weatherspoons and thyat giving it a good name. If I could of have given it 0 stars I would of. Shame that a wee local bar like this has now been taken over by a chain. Well if you don't mind microwaved food then this is the place and if your looking for a cheap drink then this again isn't the place.

My favorite pub in Glasgow. Good food, simple and easy whilst affordable. Music on certain days and different deals on each day.

What a cracking night out we had. The food was excellent, great selection of beers on tap. The staff and managers are always so friendly and attentive, just a great place to visit. Would highly recommend.

Best pint of Belhaven Best in Glasgow, and it is dog friendly. 3 of us had a late lunch. Katsu Chk, Fish platter and steak pie all excellent. Beer perfect and great service. Today, decent beer and a wrap for under a tenner. Good stuff. Oh no, no Belhaven Best replaced by John Smiths Smooth. Sorry, there is no comparison. Guess we have to find a new pub. What are Stonegate playing at?

A brilliant, welcoming pub on the outskirts of one of Glasgow’s dearest green places. Lovely food, lovely staff and they show the F1!

Fab wee spot for lunch and was able to take our dogs which was great. Food was amazing and good value for money too. Will definitely be back again in the future.

Was in here last week with some friends having some drinks and nibbles. Had an amazing time, and the atmosphere was great, and it was very cosy and warm. The food was great and cokked by Jake, and I would highly recommend coming here if you're in the area!

Was in here over the weekend for some food and drinks, had an amazing time, and felt very welcomed immediately. Sat and had an amazing steak that I later found out was cooked by chef Jake! Would love to come here again and would recommend.

Love this little pub, always give great service and their standards for food are always amazing. Me and my friends were specifically impressed by our bartender Hamishs hospitality skills, it was obvious he took pride in his job. We will be back for another visit soon.

Went to the old smiddy for drinks with the girls and I had a lovely time. The atmosphere was so warm and cosy and the staff were so friendly, especially this young guy Hamish who was very chatty and made us feel so welcomed. We’ll definitely be back.

Went to the old Smiddy pub to get some dinner with friends and was treated with so much affable kindness by staff. My friends thought Hamish the staff member was very friendly. He was even kind enough to give some drink recommendations and helped us by walking us through some of their gin collection. We particularly enjoyed their plum gin and lemonade so we will most definitely be back try more from this terrific pub.
