Riverhill Coffee Bar in Glasgow City

Riverhill has incredible coffee and food. The staff are friendly, and the fact that it is always busy tells its own story. This is, for me, the best coffee in the centre of Glasgow and close to Central Station. The only problem is, they don't open until 8am and I now have to be in Central just before then, but you can't have everything.

We had breakfast here twice during our visit to Glasgow. We even went a third time, but there were no more seats. :) Super delicious food and the coffee is good too!

I stopped by this café in the morning for breakfast. The service was fast, and the food was tasty. Despite the small space, it feels quite cozy!

NO TOILET!! Was waiting for cappuccino for 4-5 minutes… and after all small from cooking on my hair and dress… terrible 😠

Around ten seats inside this café where the breakfast is very good! Customers arrive as soon as it opens (at least on Saturday morning) to get a small place. Granolas, bagels, toasts and even pain au chocolat are part of the fairly wide selection served instantly with a smile.

Good coffee and a chicken schwarma wrap - very nice, generous and tasty. Limited space but excellent for the clientele being served. Nice looking cakes as well. Recommended

Hygiene is not really up to par, the pastries are on an unprotected shelf, the vents are greasy. The room is very narrow, not very pleasant to sit in, and there was work going on in the street so it was very noisy. I don't keep the address.

I ordered a flat white and the coffee was delicious also all the stuff there were really nice with everybody

Pastries, delicious cakes. The chorizo, egg, paprika baggel perfectly nourished the big guy that I am. We tasted the hazelnut cake, the red velvet cake, the crumbled pie, the berries friand, the brownie, the strawberry cupcake. Everyone satisfied us. The girls are all very nice and welcoming

Just a lovely little place not far from Glasgows train stations. Absolutely worth to visit for a quick coffee-pit-stop. Have even gluten free brownies and lemon curd cookies.

Salmon bagel (warm and toasted 🤤) gigantic (GF) brownie and a delicious flat white. Outdoor benches too! Quite wee inside but seemed like a fast turnaround of customers!

Not usually a breakfast person but needed to eat before an appointment and so glad I came here. Veggie bagel was delicious and very filling and the soy milk latte was great too. Will be back for sure!

Was the best Shortbread i had in my entire Life. My friend had the Brownie who she can also recommend. So delicious and tasty defenetly gonna come back!

Incredible food and desserts. we had to come back to glasgow just to eat here again. The sandwiches were amazing, we had the egg mayo and the babaganoush. I highly recommend the babaganoush. The Brookie was amazing, definitely the best brownie Ive ever had.

This is one of the nicest places in the city to pick up a quick lunch. The city centre is mainly just filled chain cafes, whereas this is a really good little independent cafe. Really delicious sweet & savoury food + very good coffee.

Just the best. Interesting combinations. Central location. Staff are always lovely & they do TGTG bags so they care about food waste too. What's not to like? Try them! Their chicken shawarma is delicious. My favourite thing I had today was a pulled pork toastie with at least 2 cheeses, sliced pickles, sauerkraut & a delicious sauce. Yum!

Could this be the best coffee shop in Glasgow? Quite possibly... It's brill, give it a go...

The female server here with eyeliner, brown hair in a pony tail with sliders was a rude robot to me. All I asked was if they happened to have any porridge left over from breakfast at noon and she completely embarrassed me in the shop by claiming loudly and dismissively that 'no that's only served til 11'. I immediately left cos I'm not staying around or entertaining such inhuman and unkind interaction with someone who thinks it's ok to publicly humialte people.

We came as a group of 15 people, and we all loved it. The food was very delicious and the service was very friendly. Highly recommended.

What a fabulous little find. Located just across from Glasgow Central Station, I popped in to indulge in a caffeine laden beverage and a snacket before setting off to complete the Street Mural Trail. There was indoor breakfast bar style seating and benches outside, or you could simply take away. The array of sweet and savoury food choices would have been difficult if I hadn't spotted a chocolate brownie that was pleading to be eaten. Reasonably priced, clean, and inviting. An array of people were popping in and out whilst I indulged in a bit of people watching from my window seat. A number of people were clearly regulars. The staff were all polite, helpful, friendly, and happy to share a smile and laugh. Thank you for starting my visit with such a positive vibe.

I bought 4 different cakes for my partners birthday. Pistachio and matcha loaf, Bakewell Tart, Raspberry and lime tart and a chocolate tart for £12 odds. They were all really dry and tasteless, the pastry wasnt great either, poor quality for the money. I paid the same amount today at a bakery in the west end and WOW what a difference, both were magnificent.

We walked by here many times without noticing it because of the sexy donut place next door. 😳If you wanted baked goods like I haven’t seen - stop here! We really liked this coffee. It's quite small and got hardly any seating unless you can sit outdoors. The bagel was amazing. The breakfast bun was fine. But bit uninspiring. The location is great. Just 2min walk from Central Station.

Popped in today on my way to work for an oat flat white to go. Gorgeous little shop. Staff lovely. Coffee made quickly and tasted great. (Bonus points for being proper the flat white size and not the size of a small coffee!)

Cold coffee took 10 minutes to come out and very average food.

Often crowded because place is rather small with little seating. Many vegan cake options and vegan overnight oats for breakfast.

Best overnight oats of my life (I've been trying unsuccessfully to recreate them 😂). Coffee is great and the staff are really friendly.

Quick lunch stop before heading back to the office. Carrot and coriander soup was first class! We had a couple cakes to top it off - highly recommend the cherry and raspberry crumble!!!

Great coffee, they do dark, milk or white chocolate mocha's, which are fantastic! Really delicious breakfast rolls too. Worth paying a bit more than greggs for. The cakes look amazing too! Big selection. Lovely staff and the cafe is usually very busy but the queue moves fast.

As the title states, this was a perfect maiden visit to a place spoken highly of in my work place. Faultless Sandwiches all round! For a small cost, I received a Chicken & Bacon Sandwich, a Chicken Tikka Sandwich, a large Coronation Chicken Wrap and a Porridge, topped with Fruit and Cinnamon. I’m a big advocate for ‘Too Good To Go’ and this was certainly up there amongst the best i’ve had. Couldn’t really complain about any of the food. All neatly bagged and handed over without any fuss, obviously at a fraction of what you’d normally pay. Yet to try a Coffee from there but I’ll certainly be back at some point! Located opposite the north entrance to Glasgow Central station, this is a must for any lunch or Coffee break.

My and my colleagues love going to riverhill! We were hosting some clients and we bought lots of sandwiches and cakes and they received rave reviews. The staff are always friendly even when it's busy and were more than accomodating of our big order.

Their syrups are to die for! Especially their home made caramel omggg I could have it everyday if my body let me! Amazing as always guys ❤️👏🏻

Coffee could have been really nice if served in warm cups. I shouldn't need to highlight that using stone cold cups will only result in an inferior product. We also had Biscoff tart - although tasty they did seem to have been on display for quite some time.

Best coffee and cakes I've had with plenty gluten free and vegan options. Best part of my day when I am in the office!

Tried their Easter Special drink, a Hot Cross Bun Latte - almond milk, housemate hot cross bun syrup, one shot of coffee, and cinnamon on top. Seriously creamy & delicious. One of the nicest coffees I've had and I usually drink chai, not caffeine. Not much room to sit inside and a bit squeezed, as it was super busy (especially for a Tuesday). Friendly service and great quality drinks for a decent price. I would recommend!

It's a small coffee bar that is great for takeaway and good for a quick sit in if it's not busy. The seats at the window provide a nice view if you enjoy people watching, and the staff were extremely welcoming and delightful. The coffee was nice and smooth, and the food was rather flavourful. There are plenty of options for vegetarians. However, there aren't many vegan options. The pastries and treats looked incredible, but I have yet to try one myself. It's a little pricey for a small bite in a small establishment, but I know small businesses are struggling with inflation at the moment, so I can not be too harsh about that. Overall, I would definitely recommend popping in for a coffee.

Overpriced and cramped cafe. As other reviews say the pastries, cakes etc are in an open cabinet and saw flies on the cakes . Decided to have only coffee which was average . Staff seemed inexperienced and slow and not that friendly. I will be sticking to Costa or Starbucks in future

I've been meaning to go into this coffee shop forwhile now. Found myself with some time so I grabbed a spot of breakfast and a coffee or 2. Friendly staff, good service and good coffee. I will definitely be back.

Been a regular visitor to Riverhill for a number of years. The coffee is always served quickly and tastes great. Their sandwich selection includes vegetarian, pescetarian and meat options and they have a wide selection of cakes available. An affordable and reliable coffee shop in the city centre!

Nice spot for a grab and go coffee; however, when you walk in you affronted with the overwhelming stench of burning pork fat due to the grill behind the counter which completely overwhelms any cafe ambiance. Along with the seating, the greasy stale air makes it nearly impossible to stay longer than 5 minutes. And the pastries are sitting in an open air display. My dessert square at 8:30 was completely stale.

Hardly any vegan options despite reading reviews that there were many. The photos of menus must be very old since we came for the vegan Scottish breakfast but the only vegan options were overnight oats or a very simple (but tasty) avocado toast. The espresso was not very good.

Awesome coffee and lots of choices. The staff working provide a great service, they’re friendly and work efficient. Also a great selection of fresh sandwiches and sweets. Well wrapped and perfect for takeaway. Sitting in at the bar on the sides is also possible.

I really hate giving bad reviews sorry in advance. I’m a coffee lover, and I came here with high hopes based on reviews that I’d get my coffee fit but sadly it was a miss for me. I ordered a long black that came out piping hot, it had no Crema on top, no flavour and was burnt coffee. Perhaps it was just the barista on the day or perhaps they haven’t yet learnt the art of coffee, either way it didn’t hit the mark for me. I just wasn’t able to drink it.

I've tried the breakfast rolls, cakes and coffees here and all have been delicious. The cakes especially win for variety and freshness! They also do cold brew coffee which is not easy to find in Glasgow! As another review points out, the breakfast rolls are cooked on a flat top grill so won't be suitable for people with allergies. But otherwise I defo recommend breakfast here!

Very tasty overnight oats, but the croissant disappointing. Croissant was very dry, and lacked butter taste, and on top of that quite expensive. Croissant 4/10

Designed for ‘take away’ - very small spaces to sit down. Long black coffee was good, however I got a take-away cup although I told them I will have here - even they asked me first so I was expecting to get a mug to drink.

I found the coffees to be weak and the baked goods to be very mid. In a city filled with cafes, I felt I should’ve gone elsewhere.

Riverhill Coffee Bar was absolutely delightful. The coffee was excellent and the servers were extremely polite, in particular the young woman in dungarees who served me. The only slight negative was the open display of cakes which were being sneezed on by a toddler, however, my millionaire shortbread still tasted exquisite.

Nice staff, but I found the pastries a bit lacking in flavor.

A small place but definitely worth the visit. Since this is also a bakery there is a wide selection of unique sweets to accompany the coffee. Highly recommended.

Five stars already for the coffee alone. Also liked how up-front the server was about the wait for the food, so I wouldn't risk missing my train. In the end it came out a lot quicker with plenty of time to relax and have breakfast.

Delicious Bacon Roll and overnight oats. Perfect Flat White for me, and a yummy cappuccino for Sean.

Originally rated 5 stars, but was overcharged and didn't realise, I contacted through email 3 weeks ago and have had no response. I don't go into Glasgow much but always loved to stop by for a cake. Think I'll find somewhere new

Coffee was very tasty & flavourful, so too the bacon roll. Friendly staff. Outside seating a nice option too. Ideal location between Central & Queen Street Station to pass some connection waiting time. Glad I found it!

Wanted a quickly cooked breakfast before heading out of Glasgow. Ended up getting just a coffee because the hob was a flat surface grill that cooked everything including eggs, which I am allergic to and mentioned to the staff. The breakfast I saw others have looked lovely though. Just a pity that they don’t cater to allergies. Also, they’ve got a small sitting area so your best bet is to take out or suffer getting squeezed between the rush hour queue, and smell of grease on your clothes and hair after you’re done eating.

Lovely friendly staff. Delicious doughnuts and excellent coffee! Reasonably priced too. Really nice and clean shop. Well worth a visit.
