I had ordered the hunters chicken for dinner, when the food arrived it looked like a kids portion there was roughly 9 chips on my plate, unedible chicken which was chewy and tough to eat and 1 piece of limp lettuce. There was hardly any cheese on the chicken and a sliver of bbq sauce on top. This was disgusting to eat and I would not recommend to eat here for any food. I will not be returning.

Slow service……. Arrived on a Wednesday for impromptu meal. Took nearly 50 minutes to get standard food. Many items on the menu not available on the app. Won’t be coming back

Went out for some food and a couple of drinks at The Saxon arms, first time I've been here and I can say for certain that I will be back. The restaurant and bar was clean, the food was lovely and plenty to choose from. The staff are lovely, the manager Jennifer was so attentive and made sure we were ok and although she was extremely busy she still took her time with us and made us feel welcome. I'll definitely be recommending this pubs to my friends and family. Thank you again Jennifer and the team at Saxon arms.

We have visited here previously and can honestly say that once again this did not disappoint. We brought our grandchildren with us on this occasion and as previously we were made to feel very welcome. It just says something about a place when you are greeted with a smile a hello and welcome when you arrive. Excellent menu choices especially for the younger ones. And an extra note the food was served promptly and hot. It's these little things. Thankyou once again we will be back very soon !!

We had a dinner in the restaurant and were made to feel very welcome. The staff were attentive without being over the top. Good food, valur for money and there was a nice atmosphere. We will be returning.

Staff friendly and nice enough but the kitchen has some issues. Some of our food was cold, some lukewarm and the kids southern fried burger was missing it's cheese and sauces, ie dry. We would not return, not worth the money for the quality of food serrved plus we couldn't eat together as one meal had to be sent back.

We had a table of 6 for Mother’s Day we chose the 3 course set menu which was not only good value but very tasty 😋

One meal out of 3 ok. Thai curry sloppy, tasteless and poorly presented. Very small portion. Vegan chilli even worse. Full of pickled jalapenos and again very sloppy. Chef needs some lessons on taste and presentation and portion control. Not worth the money charged.

First time back since the refurbishment, wow !! We came with our grandchildren, one of which can be very fussy. Not so here it seems. Kids options were great good portion size too. A lovely lady called Jennifer served us turns out she is the Manager. She helped our fussy one choose from the Menu thankyou so much !! Lovely atmosphere, great food ,happy grandparents !!

Well this was a mixed experience, some good some bad during our visit yesterday, we were shown to our table and two of us went to the bar to order drinks, there was a barman at the other end of the bat who showed no enthusiasm to want to serve us so we waited for the lady behind the bar to finish serving the customer in front of us while the barman continued to do nothing. We ordered our food and I wanted a pint of Pedigree as it is a Marstons pub but there was none on, there was only one bitter on which was not one I liked so I had to have a lager instead, I asked the barman if there was a problem getting Pedigree as I had the same situation at a pub in Kent at the weekend but he said no theres no shortage it just takes 72 hours to settle, maybe they need to have more than one barrel setting at a time to cover the setling period. Anyway enough of my rant on the service and beer availability. The food was actually very good, the desrt we had to wait much longer for than we would have liked though. If they had got their act sorted out this could have been a 5 star review instead of a 3 star.

Marstons who incidentally own the pub make some great real ales yet only one was on offer, why? For my second pint i bought a pint of lager and a bag of crisps, it set me back £7.20. Outrageous! I won't visit again.

We accidentally ordered a burger with bacon in it today and had to return it as a member of our party is a Muslim and does not eat bacon. Azura and Josh dealt with us in such a professional and friendly manner replacing the burger with a fresh one without the bacon and no quibbles. The food was good and the attitude of the staff concerned was excellent and we definitely will be returning in the future. Thanks for not making us feel bad about our mistake.

When here for Sunday lunch as we week two weeks ago and it was very good. We go to the Saxon Arms in Witham at least twice a week. Good service and good food. I can recommend it.

Upon arrival I was greeted by the lovely, courteous staff (specifically Sienna, Anastasia, Azura and Jen). In general, all of the food tasted amazing. Our kind waitresses Niamh and Sienna were very attentive throughout. Highly recommend visiting.
