Food according to the wife not the best - worst thing was we shivered our way through 2 / 3 courses of food - asked why the heating was off at the front of house in the dining area - told that the heating comes on early and cant be over ridden - so ourselves and two other couples sat "IN COATS" not good - hopefully the heating will be sorted out

Lovley time here meeting up with friends for a catch up. Food was well presented and tasty - good value for money. Staff very friendly and profesional. We ate from the lunch menu, I had the fish ciabatta, which was excellent. We also shared a bottle of South African chenin blanc which was great value - considering how good it was - at £19. If you are in Seaford, I would recommend The Old Plough.

The Old Plough , should be renamed The Old We Don't Give A Damn. Went in for drink so I could sit in the beer garden and smoke my cigar . The girl behind the bar had no idea what a bourbon was ,so I named a few Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam still no idea ,I spotted a bottle of Bullet Rye Whiskey and said I would have that . I ordered a dble dble with coke no ice in a tall glass, got the usual can't serve 2 dble in the same glass one will be in a separate glass, no issue with that it is a legal thing, she then proceeds to tell she would have to charge me for a full glass of coke not a splash, that I do have a issue with, it is actually against the law to charge for a full measure but only supply a partial measure in a license premises , when I queried it ,she replied that it was company policy and for stock reasons, seeing as the coke comes from the gun ,the stock reason is pile of horse manure it is just corporate greed on stonegate part and relying on customers not knowing the law . Anyway I declined and ask for the company email address, she had no idea what it was and how to find it , she had to find the manager , manager arrived, dose not introduce herself, dose not ask what the issue is just hands me a scrap of paper and walks off . So the staff have zero product knowledge, the company openly breaks the law ,the management don't care . People go to the boot, the Wellington, King's Head all of which do know what a bourbon is and don't charge you for a splash of coke in your drink and the management introduce themselves if there is a issue.

Went in today 12/11/24 to buy a large bourbon to go with my cigar and sit in their beer garden. First thing the bartender had no idea what a bourbon was, so I ran through some brands Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam still no idea what I was talking about, I spotted a bottle of Bullet Rye Whiskey and said that would do ,asked for a dble dble with coke served in a tall glass no ice, the bartender explained she couldn't serve two dble's in the same glass has to be in two separate glasses, no issues with that is is a legal thing , bartender then explains has to charge me for a full glass of coke not a splash, that I do have a issue with as it is against the law to charge for a full measure but only supply a partial measure in licenced premises, bartender says it is company policy and for stock reasons, the stock reason is horse manure it comes out of a gun not a bottle and company policy dose not override the law . Anyway I declined and asked for the company email address, bartender did not know what it was or where to find , went to find the manager, manager turns up ,no introduction, no asking what the issue was just hands me a scrap of paper and walks off . So basically, the old plough staff have zero product knowledge, and the management has zero customer skills and Stonegate are happy to steal from their customers and break the law . I suggest you go to The Wellington or The Old Boot and the Kings Head where the staff do know the products they sell and the manager will introduce themselves if you have a query/problem.

This could be a great pub but there is no welcome whatsoever. No good evening, nothing. The staff stand by the till inputting your drinks and hand you the card machine even before serving you. Is this really UK hospitality today? No wonder so many pubs are going bust. A smile and a welcome never hurt anyone and could possibly encourage punters to stay longer. We won’t be back.

Disgusting food! The worst I’ve had in any pub. Been there more than once so I’ve given it a chance. Every vegetable is burnt, I had overcooked gammon. My friend’s jacket potato was so overcooked that there was nothing left inside it. I changed at request and wasn’t charged. Staff were very good.

We have been coming here on and off for over 15 years. Recently re-decorated, updated, but still an old pub feel. We went for the Dinner Jazz, 1st Saturday of the month, we knew the band from previous gigs. It was busy, so service was a bit slow, the food was good, but feels a bit over priced for pub dining, good beer and 0% alcohol selection. Seems there's a new landlord and a problem with a leaking roof that closed one part of the pub/dinning area. Hopefully the new team will bring it up to scratch. Overall a very enjoyable evening hadn't been for a while, but eaten there on and off for 15+ years, under various management, used to be independent, but now part of a chain. 0% Tanquary Gin and a pint if Long Man Old Man winter ale👍🏻😁. Changed hands again, food a bit more up market, fancy and pricey, around £15 for mains.

We ended up here by accident. We were looking for a fish restaurant we'd found on Google. Saw a solitary parking spot with this quant looking pub opposite. I went in to ask if they served food. Response, yes Sir we certainly do, please sit anywhere and someone will come to your table. We have lived in France for 22 years and they just do not do Fish and chips justice. We both opted for it. I had a smoked chicken terrine with caramelized onion chutney which was superb. The cod was perfect, large, boneless tasty with crispy batter. The chips were hot and plentiful. My wife enjoyed a luscious cherry cheesecake. The service was efficient, prompt and friendly, all food delivered with a genuine smile and enquiry into our satisfaction. The lovely young lady who took our payment was charming and genuinely interested in our opinion. All in all a fabulous end to our visit to the UK. Well done all of you. Just called again on our way back to France. Just had the Fish and chips, meal deal not available anymore. As before superb quality, huge portions of fresh white fish in crisp batter. Price increased by a bit but you cannot complain about the quality. Served piping hot with smiles from an efficient and courteous staff. Keep it going, over a 1000 people read my last review. Thank you.

We popped in for a Sunday lunch without booking and were lucky to get a table albeit in the bar area - we gave up waiting for the table to be cleared of plates and glasses etc from the last customers and ended up clearing it ourselves. We ordered drinks at the small bar and were charged nearly £12 for a small red wine and 2 glasses of coke, which seemed exhorbitant! The seating in the bar area is really not intended for dining as it is a mix of dining chairs and armchairs, all very old, ripped and tatty - defo more shabby than chic. I get that the pub happy to serve food to anyone anywhere they can find a seat but I'm not sure how you are expected to comfortably eat a meal off a low armchair when your chin is level with the table? The fish and chips meal was a reasonable price, it was quickly served, it was very good and was a generous portion. So overall a rather mixed experience for us.

I can't believe they charged £14 for a hamburger! That price seems exorbitant, especially considering the experience I had. The food arrived cold, and the fries were so bad that it felt like they had been salvaged from the garbage. As for the hamburger, it was not only cold but also tasted as though it had been discarded, then hastily reheated. The whole experience left me questioning the quality and care put into the meal.

I said am I speaking your language. Her reply was that’s how we serve it here!! Bad start, i ordered scampi & 2 beef burgers. They were ok. But the scampi was cremated. My partner and I visited late on Sunday afternoon (25/08/24). Reservations are required for the dining area but a couple didn't turn up for their 4pm booking so the table was offered to us. Poppy was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the drinks and Sunday roast menu options. My partner and I both had the veggie wellington with mine being vegan (so no creamed mash). The meals were delicious! We were looked after by Poppy and Elizabeth (with some help from Jamie from behind the bar) and the service was great! Elizabeth had mentioned to another table that a few staff had left recently (students moving on, etc.) so they dealt with the hungry Sunday hoards pretty well, all things considered. We very much look forward to visiting again next time we're in Sleaford and we highly recommend The Old Plough to everyone!

Had a really nice meal tonight. Haven't been in for while maybe 6 months or more. Found some favourite dishes on the 2-3 course menu that made it really good value. Food was out in good time, hot and tasty. We weren't rushed and was given plenty of time to decide. I did find an offer on the website for a free bottle of wine that was a nice touch and tasty with our food. Well done to the kitchen the food was great, thank you to the polite friendly staff. We will be back again to try other menu choices and purchase a bottle house wine to have with dinner as it was a lovely change to the normal. Thanks again and well done.

After a visit to the old plough this evening for a family meal. First the person took our order told after asking for a child’s roast beef was told could only have Turkey. After the food was delivered to our table we did not have the correct food. The standard of the food was well below a standard I would accept from your establishment such as yours. I appreciate you deal with holidaymakers therefore not important to you. We had to ask for cutlery and an abrupt conversation with a member of your staff. I would appreciate you looking at the standard of customer service at this pub.

Stopped of for a bite to eat and to grab a drink after a long drive to the coast. Interesting place on multiple levels, lots of little rooms with steps between them garden area is much the same with many tables to chose from. Clearly the building has lots of history. Staff are very pleasant and helpful service was quick and efficient. Bar is small but service was quick, we ordered food from the menu, quite a typical standard menu. I had the steak which was cooked as requested and accompanying extras were ok, but the pepper sauce was starting to split, but still edible. Wife had mushroom wellington huge puff pastry but not much filling and she didn't enjoy the mushroom filling as it was too spiced, but I think that's personal taste I think a vegetarian may enjoy the additional flavours, the roast parsnips and carrot were good but the potatoes appeared to have been multiple fried and were not good they were not eaten. Great place to stop for a beer and a chat with a good atmosphere, they are dog friendly with bowls out for the dog. Parking is on the surrounding roads and parking spaces are limited. Not a place to go if you are not able to navigate steps.

The website portrays this place to be a beautiful little pub, on arrival I can advise it’s far from that. I was waiting 20minutes (in that time trying to work the app out and find children’s menu which they do not have on the app so wasted time doing this.) I then went to the bar and asked if they had kids menus to which they do but didn’t think to give them to me on arrival wasting 20minutes of time. I didn’t stay to find out what the food was like. Shockingly bad service, seem like nice people just doesn’t match what the website portrays.

What I can only describe as promising but falling flat. By promising I mean....the welcome we got when we arrived, the Cold! Beers and the options/ variety of the menu were great and that's kind of where it ended for me sadly. I am not a key board warrior by any means, but I felt this visit required some constructive criticism. (I would have brought this to the manager/owners attention there and then but he looked extremely busy) understandable for a Sunday before a bank holiday So Maybe it was an off day or they were short staffed But..... With only 2 people maning the bar and taking food orders.....If you are looking at the Sunday Roast, with "unlimited" spuds, Yoshires and gravy. Be prepared for a VERY LONG wait. I think what my mother almost broke her teeth on was the orange and fig stuffing but who knows it was burnt to a crisp. I went digging for my pork crackling to eventually find one about half the size of my pinky. We asked for more of the unlimited options because the roasties were great but were told it would be 30min! Maybe that's the plan (no one wants to hang around for unlimited seconds if you waiting so long for the main then another 30min for the "unlimited" option 🤔) On a positive note, what pushed the food up to 3 stars was the Lamb Shank and roasties. It was lovely.

Friendly staff, let down by quality of food. Food was let down by vegetable prep and cookery. Had the award winning pie, it was a pity that the vegetables were far from award winning. Mash instead of being light and fluffy was the consistency of a flip flop. The roast veg nuked, broccoli not cleaned and stringy and non of it had been seasoned, just tasteless and poorly executed. Will give them another try, as everyone has an off day.

Amazing food and service, lovely cosy atmosphere. Brownie desert is to die for. Very happy spending the afternoon here after our blustery and muddy walk. Highly recommend.

Shame, we used to like this pub, good food and good selection of draught beer. Unfortunately this time we were attempting to get another drink when all the bar staff vanished. We heard barrels being moved around in the cellar below so we understood there would be a delay. 15 minutes later a youngish chap (who we gather was the manager) emerged and immediately left the bar area and began collecting plates. My friend called across the bar to ask if anyone could serve us and got the reply “clearly I’m busy mate”. He then made strenuous efforts to find anything and everything he could to avoid serving us. So “clearly” we decided to leave and very much doubt we’ll ever return.

BEST Pub in Seaford!! Have been going here for years, my local and only pub I use in Seaford. Travel to Eastbourne to use other pubs, they're great but still don't beat Old Plough

We tend to go here for my daughter's birthday as a big family party. They've always been really good, good food with choices for everyone, and very accommodating of dogs and kids! Had a lovely time again today, our server Olivia was great. We'll be back again next year (and sooner for Sunday lunch as a smaller group)!

Very good food and excellent gluten free selection. Only trouble was the staff's insistence on calling us all 'loveley', 'dear' 'my love' and other ghastly terms of affection which apart from being very patronising, felt very odd and forced coming from people in their 20s (many decades younger than us). I commented on this when i orderd our food and we were then treated to a deluge of such language by the waiting staff. Why do people have to be so patronising and unpleasant? A definite reason not to go there too often.

Sat down nice location menu on table staff acknowledged us and heard us discuss whst we would have for lunch. Went to order only to be told chef not in. So why menus on table and why not say something to us or the least have a note advising no food.

Meat in pie tough and full of gristle. Pork belly overcooked and dry. Beans overcooked too.
