They landed in my friends hair and then on our table. The staff member who served us (and has served us before) was miserable and not polite. She was the same both times. We stood there waiting for ages the first time and she completely ignored us for quite some time. Not even 'I will be with you in a minute.

Unfortunately had an awful experience here after drinking one of their hot chocolate and after thinking it was a one off or maybe it was just me I was horrified to hear this week someone else informed me that it had also happened to their family members last week thankfully not causing so much damage but still making them violently unwell. We attended the cafe for a small meeting we ordered hot chocolate and coffees and sat in the first red flag being that the tables were sticky and there was a lot of flies around. To the point that they were landing on our table and on the sources. Within about 30 minutes of finishing up and leaving I'd started to become quite violently unwell like I never had been before this ended up with just over 48 hours of being incredibly sick and an a&e visit. This is due to the fact that whatever was in that drink and a combination of what your body does when you get poisoning had caused third degree burns. This resulted in being in dressings for over 6 weeks bed-bound for the two of those weeks and just over a year to almost full recovery this does not include recovery of nerves that were completely damaged. I have never returned since. Please think twice before attending one of their venues.

Very dirty tables. 3 trays of dirty used cups and plates on my table. 1 tray was collected, I was told by a miserable red headed lady member of staff to put the other 2 on the window sill as "I can't carry any more" The trays sat there for nearly an hour. My visit of an hour, not once did I see her clean a table. No sign of a cloth or cleaning products being used. It's just disgusting.

Came at around 16:35 for a coffee so my disabled partner could have a break from walking around before our shop. Tried looking at the drinks menu for a while (it plays videos in between menus that we have to wait to finish lol). A woman served us and said hi to get our attention and then snapped it a second time I assume because she didn't hear my hi in response. Was genuinely taken aback for a moment at how rude she was being (we were the only customers, it wasn't busy). She told us they couldn't serve food as they're closing in 10 minutes (they were closing in 20 minutes) which probably could've been specified as hot food as they could still serve cakes etc. Throughout serving us she was just rude and acting like she didn't want to be there. The other man working made our drinks and was actually nice and decent (and normal). She treated other customers after us better so I'm not sure what we did that set her off?

Three members of staff cleaning and restocking- not serving when there was a queue of6 people. I know Costa is a chain, but apart from making load of money like other chain coffee shops how do they not have to prioritise customer service

Travelled here. Parked. Walked in. Queued. Rude red headed lady at the counter just said we aren't doing cold drinks. No apology. Cold and stony faced. Awful service. Won't be visiting again.

Useful if not too busy or in need of tidying, however interesting it has the same hours as the main Tesco store, though closing earlier than the shopping store itself and not like the other costa coffee in town, a good range of things to have either for food and drink with the shopping store also nearby. Not had a problem with this store and what they serve.

Extremely rude staff, no customer service skills whatsoever. We was made to feel like it was an effort to take our order. I asked for the toblerone hot chocolate and was told it was no longer available which I understand it's a promotion offer but when I asked what other flavours there were the girl made out like it was a issue having to tell me them. I then asked for my hot chocolate to be made with skinny milk before I paid. I watched the other girl poor mine and someone else's from the same milk pot who hadn't asked for skinny milk as she had looked at the screen to start making the drinks whilst I was still ordering so there for I know it was made with semi -skimmed milk. I have a intolerance to milk and can only have skimmed every so often. The tables were also extremely dirty with lots of ring marks and spills from other customers where the cups had been taken but no wiping of them had been done. Staff need training in basic customer service. Definitely won't be coming back

Moody staff who prefer to be on their phones rather than dealing with customers or clearing tables there is also a big difference in drink quality between this branch and the one over the road in the town centre

Just popped in for a coffee.. staff are so blooming rude. Just queuing to order, staff walks over 'we're not doing food, we're closing in 10 minutes!' In a really angry tone 🤷‍♀️ how were we supposed to know that at 2.50 pm??? There are ways to say it. Headed to Nero instead.

I prefer the location of this Costa with a nice view of the river, free parking at the tesco and easy access to town or scenic walks.. but I much prefer the staff at the other Costa in the town. The staff here are OK.. but often get your order wrong, take a long time faffing around and generally look like they would rather be elsewhere.

Lovely place and the staff are nice and so friendly, they make a nice cappuccino to.

I visited Tesco Costa, the girl serving was a surley cow, she looked out the window each time she spoke to me and was bloody rude. A younger girl served my coffee was very sweet but what a disgusting coffee she made, definitely not Barista trained. I took it to go and had to throw it away. It looked and tasted like dirt and was horrible and bitter. Never again. Oh and sort your dirty toilets out Tesco!

it seams for us as a family most disappointing that when we go shopping this costa is often closed or late to open. the attitude of the one woman there is absolutely horrible every time we go there she is so unpleasant !

Useful in store place that is open for either take away or eat in options not too busy and toilets located in store also. Useful when weather not so good as all undercover in one area. Great stuff being same location for shopping and all the rest of it.

Amazing staff, make you feel welcome, coffee served to a high standard, also the food is always a pleasure to taste, relaxing atmosphere and first class standards on efficiency, customer service and high standards of produce whether be coffee or food

The staff are really good, the manager runs it very efficiently and service is quick and they always have a smile on their faces.

I have visited this particular costa on many occasions and have been always been greeted with smiling and cheerful staff. Which I must say is becoming a rare thing in this ever changing world. The coffee and toast (with marmite) is always a great way to start the day but I my main reason for this review is that the staff I feel go above and beyond

Worst Costa experience ever! The staff were extremely rude (Callum and Nick), as soon as I walked in Nick shouted at me saying you can’t use the toilet! I was actually going in to buy a coffee not use the toilet! I was with my son waiting whilst my husband parked the car and then Callum approached me asking me that I can’t sit down until I buy something! I have never been treated with this much disrespect and they should fire staff like that!

We had a coffee and a hot chocolate and it was cold we told them but did not care half full the hot chocolate it not the first it happened you tell them and do nothing about it

OK Costa in a Tescos. Always very busy and noisy, can be a bit grubby.

A big mug of filter for £1.60 is good. Just a shame that it was tepid and tasteless.

Awful They always give me the wrong thing the coffes are missing half of the ingredients and is bitter and it's only this Costa the staff are rude and useless they need to be closed down or hire new staff after all we are paying 8£ a time it's not on.

This coffee shop has personality and drive .. Staff try to engage the customers with a good morning and friendly hello ..yes sometimes there are staff shortages this happens and that creates problems but they still try their best

The staff employed are loud, talk to each other, sorry I mean shout whilst taking orders. The staff have changed recently which is a true pity. Waited in line today for 8 mins - yes I timed it, listened to screeching, loud laughter and SLAMMING cupboards I had a while to wait for a bus and thought it would be a nice way to do it. Won’t come here again. Glad they are not my neighbours.

The coffee wasn't very hot and flat white was to frothy

Service and staff are great, just don't get the bonfire latte, it is foul.

Very useful and lots of indoor seating that gives views over the river here this time. Also inside the store so next to supermarket things too.

Nice to sit in and relax with a pot of tea and a book. I like the cheese and tomato toastie.

So far most useful being indoors and close to car park, good if quiet however there seems to be plenty of staff there. Sometimes can be busy though their recent refurbishment has changed it to a little more seating areas, all good stuff.

I cannot understand the reasoning behind some reviews. The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived at the counter. They brought our food over to our table, as they did to other customers. The drinks were typically Costa Coffee drinks, and not sub-standard. As the only toilets we found were in the supermarket, we fail to see how they could not be clean.

Terrible Costa coffee and enough to stop me going to Costa again. The staff member that served me, clearly had a cold, with a bright red nose, they were coughing, sniffing and were just clearly ill. They then proceeded to make our coffees whilst wiping her nose with her hands, and then touching the coffee ground that was being used for our coffees. The coffee had limescale floating in the top and the latte had absolutely no foam so the milk wasn't heated in the correct way. Honestly, one of the most disgusting experiences and we ended up leaving our coffees without being consumed. I'd avoid it here.

Unfortunately since the staff have changed so has the attitude. I work just around the corner and am a regular customer along with my colleagues, we use them for a larger order weekly for meetings and end of week treats, the service is always the same, they don't acknowledge the customer when they have approached the counter meanwhile they are having a chat about there weekend, they moan EVERY time about the order that we place and we come away feeling hated! They swear out loud when things go slightly wrong and quite frankly treat us like we are doing something wrong by ordering coffees! Goes to say that we will be using NERO from now on!!

In store at Tesco. Busy times mirror those of the store. Check their website for average footfall figures. Otherwise it's just another Costa. No more no less.

This has to be the dirtiest Costa I have even seen, as you can see the tray was not even wiped clean. Nearly all the tables had used cups, trays and rubbish on them. The area behind the counter was no better, I would like to have asked when some of the surfaces were last clean. As for the cloths used to wipe the steamer, I have seen clean oily rags. one member of staff just walked about smiling, as if everything was fine, but did not seem to do any work.

Staff are always friendly and welcoming, keep their heads even when low on staff the drinks are made quickly, always tidy. Will definitely come back.

I made a flying visit to Lewis yesterday . I hadn't visited the town for a number of years. But I had fond memories of it . Visited Costa a name synonymous with good ambience and great tea and coffee. I'm in my local Costa in Orpington daily . Lewis branch sadly fell short of the very high standards expected of the company logo , in particular, in a coastal town and a place of historical interest . Very disappointed !!!

Too busy, couldnt get a table and the toilets so we went somewhere else. The toilets were gross and not clean.

Felt like I was in disco as the music was so loud, unable to have a conversation cant be heard over the music.

I like the coffee they serve, but they don't allow dogs inside.

It was shut. Supposed to open at 7. No staff turned up.

I visited this Costa to pick up a latte. Lady with a wet dog came into the shop, Dog had a bit of a doggy shake and stank the place out. It was very unpleasant. Not to mention i felt sorry for the person who was sat on a table near counter and right next to the dog as they could not eat or finish their drink.its quite a dirty shop anywhere but don’t think I’ll be visiting it again.

I always like Costa as a coffee shop and this one is particularly convenient being at the front of a large supermarket. All the usual coffee and extras available. Staff very friendly and helpful. Overlooks the river so not a bad view whilst you quaff your drink.

Love popping in for a latte and babychino for my grandkids

Nice little costa, in a great location, I can sit and have a coffee while my wife does the shopping, can get quite busy though.

Fast service as the place was packed with students who wanted cold drinks. Wonderful flat white as usual.

This is is Lewes Tesco it is so lovely to have a coffee after you have done your food shopping we really enjoy the sit down t is always busy in the summer you can sit down and look at the river outside x

It's ok new staff can cause a few issues like they put a tea bag in a cup with the string attached still so the string and paper gets soggy. There's always a long line and seating is difficult if your in a wheelchair or a pram. Really needs a update with seating as there hardly any room to walk

Stopped here for coffee whilst visiting the lovely town of Lewes. I visited the toilet only to find it in a poor state. Looking at the doors they were filthy, didn’t want to touch them!

To be truthful we wanted to eat our lunch elsewhere but our first choice was full so we found ourselves in Costa Coffee instead. All perfectly OK though the staff were rushed off their feet it has to be said. Friendly and helpful.

Here are pictures of the WC. They speak for themselves. We tried to find someone who looked responsible and would act on our findings. The cleaner (though I see there is not one) needs changing!!

Costa is costa. This is what it is but the staff offer great service and take pride in their job and presentation.

Have the staff here actually had any customer service training? Really quite dire. Serviettes and till receipts on the floor. Staff just walking on by. Generally, not good at all. Even the mediocre coffee doesn't make up for it.

Coffee was good, food was good but the TRAYS WERE FILTHY. Seriously filthy. They looked like they'd been left on the floor. We thought at first it was the design in the plastic that had a kind of a marbleing effect. Nope. It rubbed off! I pointed it out to the Barrista but hardly received any eye contact back. Why don't they teach Customer Services to their operatives? It clearly was filthy and they just need a scrub. I kind of expected an: "Oh My! I'm sooo sorry". But nope. Nothing. We carried on eating our sandwich. We were hungry. It was good and the coffee was good. But for Costa to have filthy trays is disgraceful.

So look Vista no long train their so called barristers, this is Tesco Lewes ones excuse for a large, all froth at top, more like a medium. This is every time now, probably to save costs, I stopped going for few months thinking it would go back to how it was but no, so another Coffee shop CON site to avoid. Looks like I'm switching to Starbucks, they seem to still give you a full large when ask for one. Interested to know others experienced good and bad on measures in Costa.

Wasnt hugely impressed. Quite a long wait, while the coffee tasted very bitter and the cake was not very good quality.

I know it's only a Coffee shop in a supermarket but the service is always good, happy, polite staff so they need a mention. Keep it up always a good experience.

We had a snack lunch there one day and coffee on another couple of days. We had a toasted sandwich, which was good. Personally I love Costa coffee, so I was happy!

Have sat and had a coffee and tart here a few times while shopping. Nice spot. Great pastries. Good coffee. Sometimes a little crowded but not rushed. Get a seat looking over the river.

I went with a friend to get a hot chocolate with her. She was paying as it was my birthday and got me a delicious brownie as well. It was great and conveniently inside Tescos so we could shop for lunch afterwards.

Generally very good but shame apart from one small lady staff, (wears glasses) very rude, not very welcoming and not enjoying her job at all.

Lovely! I got a Belgium cooler and the service was fast and friendly and drink was great! The only thing I would say is that they had a lot of the chairs already stacked up which meant there was limited seating and felt a little rushed! All in all very pleased:)

As far as Costa's go, this ones a gooden.

Having decided to wait until after the morning rush to pop in and grab a quick drink on my way to my (late) start, I walked in at 9:45 to a queue, no longer than 4 people.

This is a nice size Costa, it is attached to the Tesco store. It's very spacious inside and there are many tables but I would advise getting a table before you order as it gets busy very quickly.

The Costa here is quite spacious, fair amount of seating. The drinks are good, the food is good and the service isnt bad either!

I love this coffee shop. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks are great quality. It has recently undergone a much-needed refurbishment. Looks much better now. Great views over the river Ouse, and useful location.

Needed somewhere for coffee and sandwiches while working. At least you can park here without paying a machine for the privilege. Now I am not a Tesco shopper and coffee houses are for those who have time to socialise, but needs must.

Good coffee slick service and all for a brewery chain, better than starbucks.My regular tipple. I know its a chain but they do make good coffee.

Costa is one of the better coffee "chains" but still not at all good. High staff turnover it seems. Coffee is quite bland.
