The service is exceptional, the food is creative and so delicious, and the ambiance is the icing on the cake. A hidden gem in the Berkshires! Our second time dining here and the experience was amazing.

Had a delicious Christmas Eve meal last night with my family. What a perfect way to celebrate. The service and ambience are always amazing and the Cod was the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend any special occasion at the Old Inn.

A Magical Weekend At The Old Inn On The Green Nestled in the heart of historic New England, there lies a hidden gem—a time-honored inn and dining room that has remained a well-kept secret. Built in 1750, The Old Inn On The Green is a rare and remarkable testament to colonial America. Under the deft leadership of owner Peter Platt and with the meticulous guidance of his dining manager, Eric, the Inn offers an authentic bygone-era dining and lodging experience unlike any other. From the moment you step inside, you are transported back to the 18th century. The inn’s structure, largely untouched by time, is steeped in history, with its original wooden beams and creaking floorboards preserving the aura of its storied past. But perhaps what sets the atmosphere apart is the dining room—illuminated not by modern electric light, but by authentic candle lighting. The flickering candles cast a soft glow that dances across the aged wood and antique furnishings, setting the perfect ambiance for a truly extraordinary meal. Dining here is a journey in itself. The kitchen, with its commitment to preserving traditional culinary techniques, offers a varied menu that captures the essence of New England’s rich history. The Inn’s chef expertly combines locally-sourced ingredients with recipes that have been passed down through generations, creating dishes that are not only delicious but tell the story of the region. Each course feels like a piece of history on a plate, with flavors that are bold, yet perfectly balanced. The use of native herbs and heirloom vegetables harks back to a time when food was prepared with great care and intention. The Old Inn On The Green’s menu changes with the seasons, reflecting the bounty of the surrounding area. Exquisite dishes of finely roasted, richly-flavored choice meats in velvety sauces takes you back to the days when hunters supplied the village of New Marlborough with game. Fresh fish and seafood delicacies from New England’s fabled coastal fishing fleet are transformed into succulent briny ocean masterpieces that would rival any Michelin-starred restaurant in New York or Paris. Our waitstaff, Owen and Ian, provided a level of service that was both warm and impeccably professional, ensuring that guests feel like they are not only dining but living in a different era. Every detail has been considered, from the colonial-style plates to the period cutlery, heightening the sense that this is no ordinary meal—it is a step back in time. Beyond the dining room, the inn offers authentic 18th-century coach house accommodations that further immerse guests in the past. Each room is meticulously furnished with period-appropriate decor, from wood hewed beds draped in fine linens to hand-crafted wooden chests and writing desks. Guests can relax by a crackling fire in the hearth, as travelers would have done centuries ago, and marvel at the craftsmanship and charm of a bygone era. The Old Inn On The Green is not just a place to eat and sleep—it is an experience, a living museum of New England’s colonial past. While Michelin has yet to place its spotlight on this remarkably extraordinary establishment, it is only a matter of time before it garners the recognition it deserves. For those who seek not only a meal but a journey through history, this inn is a must-visit destination. Its exceptional cuisine, rooted in tradition yet elevated to the highest standards, is certainly worth the special journey, and its historical accommodations offer an unforgettable glimpse into 18th-century life. In every way, this historic New England inn and dining room exemplifies what Michelin’s highest honor should be about—exceptional food, a unique atmosphere, and an experience that leaves a lasting impression. It is a hidden treasure that deserves to be brought into the culinary spotlight, but until then, it remains a cherished secret for those lucky enough to discover its charms. Yes…it is THAT unique and special!! Dr. Gary

The Old Inn on the Green in New Marlborough, Massachusetts offers an exquisite dining experience. We were looking for a high-quality restaurant and could not have been more pleased. What a delight to find a polite, mannered, and responsive staff. to be asked if they may clear our plates instead of the typical “are you still working on it “places this Zagat rated inn a must visit if you are in the area. Their food menu, featuring items such as Risotto, Short Ribs and a Rack of Lamb, is delightful. The Oaxaca cocktail and the Alexander Valley Cabernet are must-tries. The Blueberry Mousse Cake is a perfect ending to the meal. A noteworthy mention is their excellent cappuccino which the staff seem particularly proud of. The Old Inn on the Green is characterized by its pleasant ambiance, free from the hustle and bustle usually associated with restaurants, making it an excellent choice for a quiet, enjoyable dining experience no boom box crowding out the peaceful candle lighted decor.

This is a review for the restaurant only. The ambiance is very cozy. I love the dining by candlelight and fireplace concept. Service was good. The food was ok, but not amazing - especially at the price. The mushroom soup had a lovely texture but was under seasoned . The chicken and beef were fine as were the desserts. Certain components lacked some flavor. I'd recommend going at least once for the experience. I give it 3.5 stars.

Reviewing the restaurant, not the inn. Food is amazing. Apps, mains, dessert, cocktails - all so very good. Service was the definition of professional and comfortable. Really friendly but attentive and on point. The space is unique with candlelight only in the dining rooms. Very romantic. My wife and I have dined here a number of times and every time is phenomenal.

Once ranked the number one historic inn in New England by Yankee magazine, The Old Inn on the Green has hosted guests since 1760. The inn began as a stagecoach stop where riders would exchange tired horses for rested horses to reach their destination as quickly as possible. Today, travelers looking for a historic experience can stay the night or have dinner while admiring the restored interior.

Our stays have always been enjoyable, for the most part, and dinners are always superior... also, the rooms are historic and furnished with antiques, some of which can be comfy. Water pressure in the shower was too low, and this particular bed was very firm. Christmas Lighting outside was beautiful, and room 201 is spacious. It also has its own parking space conveniently near the back entrance with a view of the pool area and nearby wooded areas as well

This little haven of beauty, is the perfect getaway from the city. The inn, built in the 1700’s has all the character and charm you’d expect, with incredible food and warm hospitality. Rooms have giant beds, big bathtubs, wood burning fireplaces and wide planked wooden floors. Peter and Meredith are delightful, and dinner is a multi course treat. This is our favorite place to run away to, and satisfies all the cozy expectations.

I honestly don't why I have bothered .... 2nd time now that they've me my order with missing items... I swore to myself I'd not order from dominoes again! But there here I am... 1st I order cookies, to get open my order to find I have a box of garlic bread instead, to ring the store to be told cookies are out of stock...after placing my order online it would have been nice to have a call to say they're out of stock and to be ordered something else sweet or a refund.. instead I was giving another box of garlic bread which of course is nothing like cookies! And very disappointing and gutting to say the least, still once I phoned them, no solution given ... that was that! Anyway, tonight I give them a 2nd chance. Order comes to the door i admittedly realise something is missing, I speak to driver who then checks the label on the food who also realises my garlic bread is missing, he speaks to the staff at the store who then say they'll call me to arrange a re delivery of the missing garlic bread. An hour as has now passed, no call, no re delivery. The garlic bread was for my daughter as she prefer that to the pizza. So this evening we have shared a small pizza together, which obviously isn't enough, I've spent my evening picking every topping off my pizza🙃🙃 to share to her! And now it's late! We're both still hungry, and haven't received the missing side 😤 dominoes are not cheap these days! Awaiting an email from customer service as i would like a refund!

Ordered online. Half an hour after promised delivery time, no delivery despite their website saying it had been. When we finally got through on the phone, they said we would have to wait another hour. Telling untruths seems to he standard practice. Never again will I order from you.

Pub was empty, waiter/landlord still insisted no prams as it blocks pathways (plenty of space). Food arrived cold, “vegan” menu was unflavoured potato curry. Held off this review for 2 years but I had nightmares again.

After traveling a long time and in need of a break and hot drink. Told that the server was casting up and she would be at least 20 minutes before she would open for service. She pointed at the self service machines. They didn't look very clean . I watched people trying to use them , and it didn't look very nice. Very poor service. Next time I will stop of at a different service station where there is SERVICE. NEVER AGAIN.

Rip off Don't even bother with this place my food was 30 mins late and cold and as for the food well not worth what they charge 1st the burger was cold but was OK but had an onion chutney on which was not listed and was disgusting the black bun was also horrid and then the cheetos chick n fries what an absolute rip off disaster they are you get about 12 chips covered in a fried to death chopped up chicken topped with illuminous cheese they were foul and then the chicken tenders I expected to be some nice freshly coated chicken but nope you may aswell got to iceland and buy a bay and fry your self like little rubber bullets this place is appalling what they charge you for there shocking food is awful the only thing I will say is if the burger was hot and didn't have the horrible onion chutney on it would have been OK but not worth 9 quid so this is another place off the tick list in salisbury listen to the bad reviews
